  1. You guys have convinced me. NFL OT rules are great! So great I think that some other sports should try to imitate them. Golf could take on a more cut throat approach. You and your opponent are tied on the 18th green, but they get to shoot first and sink the ball before you get a chance to putt? ELIMINATED. Enjoy the walk to the parking lot, loser. NHL shootouts could move to sudden death. If the first team to shoot scores, the other team doesn't need a chance to score back. Buncha participation ribbon wearing pansies! They should have just scored during extra minutes. In chess, putting your opponent into checkmate is so tedious. I think simply putting someone into check should be good enough for the win. Yay for CFL OT rules. You get to see both sides of each team compete for the win, and let the best complete team effort claim the top prize. The Pats seemed destined to win this game, I'm fairly sure their D would have stopped the Falcons anyhow, but it would have made their victory that much more decisive and impressive. On the other hand, who wants to watch more NFL football than necessary? That's probably the best part about sudden death OT and the NFL; it ends sooner.
  2. Easy guys if you say his name 3 times in one post I hear he stabs you through your monitor.
  3. The comments section on that page is pure distilled cancer.
  4. I've always preferred the game day thread over chat, and since chat was introduced the game day thread has become pretty barren. I'd probably use chat more, but I stream the games I'm not attending and suffer a 30 second day delay, making chat nothing but spoilers. I could live without chat.
  5. The words 'ball handed off to Brock Ralph' were said far too often
  6. That's true. Crazy to think we were a win away from hosting a playoff game that season.
  7. Michael Bishop is what happens to teams that jettison their veteran QB with nothing but hopes and prayers to fill in. Mike Kelly had a plan named Stefan LeFors. How'd that work out.
  8. It's like asking a crip 'what's wrong with being a blood?'
  9. I wonder if we try to bring back Gurley now. I suspect the Bombers let him drift to FA but I'm a fan and would like to see the Bombers deploy 'twin towers' on offense
  10. I was thinking something similar. Has anyone here played KOTOR? Bastila Shan, a Jedi trained in "Battle Meditation" could heavily influence the outcome of a battle using the force. Not sure if KOTOR is canon or not, but it damn well should be!
  11. Saw this on Reddit and thought this was the most relevant place to share it: The prequels are quite tolerable when you only have to watch 5 seconds at a time.
  12. I once encouraged someone to get one of either Poblah or Muamba on their jersey... stars in the making I told them.
  13. They could band together as a food critic duo. They could call the column "Sour Grapes and Stinky Cheese" or "Winnipeg's Top 20 Restaurants to be Banned From in 2017"
  14. I can't help but smile. He's so much fun to watch, and nobody predicted he'd get 1100+ receiving yards in 2016. Making at least one catch in every game will do that.
  15. Things will heat up just prior to FA
  16. I don't get it. So your point is if we have a starter why do we even bother with backups? Why does a backup QB even step on the field? Most of the time it's because the starter is hurt or not performing well. You don't want to see your third stringer on the field. At least not if you like winning football games.
  17. A cursory googling will show that Dominique Davis was bouncing around the NFL in 2014; he joined the CFL in 2015 with Calgary. Not that that's the important part. If he's brought back then that means the coaches think he is doing things right in practice and has the potential to do something good down the road. You don't want your 3rd string QB to be starting often. I remember rushing 3rd stringers Justin Goltz and Robert Marve into action and it didn't go so great.
  18. I've heard a few people say it's time to cut bait on Davis and I don't understand why. He's only been in the league for 2 seasons (joined the league in 2015) and I'm not sure a 3rd string QB is expected to look like a long term starter at that stage in their career. Davis had a pretty good training camp in 2016. I suspect Walters and O'Shea will want to bring him back for one more go around. We'll find out soon enough.
  19. I like what Franklin brings to the table and would be excited to see a deal happen, even if it involves first round picks (I bet it would take first overall). We wouldn't be the only bidders and and Edmonton would just as soon retain Franklin as trade him, so I'm not holding my breath. I'm also a Nichols believer and would be most pleased to see him re-sign before FA starts. Durant is still a good QB, and I'm sure it's just my Blue Bias, but Rider stink is Rider stink (apologies to Dressler/Smith but it's the truth). Plan A1: Franklin Plan A2: Nichols Distant Plan B: Durant
  20. Did you know that the Argos traded TJ Heath to the Argos to obtain Drew Willy from the Argos? Great article, Jamie.
  21. I saw the movie last night, and I loved it. I'm a fan of Alan Tudyk (K2SO) and Donnie Yen (Chirrut, blind dude), so it's no surprise that they were my favorite characters. Tarkin was incredible... CG animation has come a long way. I kind of think the Phillip Seymour Hoffman CG in Hunger Games was more convincing (as far as looking human when standing next to a human goes)... but CG Tarkin had a lot more screen time and expressed a greater range of emotion than CG PSH ever did... CG Tarkin is quite a feat. Vader seemed spot on to me, I'm not sure what wasn't done very well. From the over-exaggerated finger pointing/jabbing in the air to the force choke, it looked pretty faithful to the original. The less than 2 minutes of Vader action at the end was something I'm glad I saw in IMAX 3D. Pure kickassery. My favorite takeaway from the movie... was neatly explaining how the Death Star came to have a built in weak spot to begin with. ANH simply explains the weakness away as an oversight on the Empire's part... "...The Empire doesn't consider a single fighter to be a threat or they'd have a tighter defense... an analysis of the plans has demonstrated a weakness" and so on... glossed over, pretty lame and often parodied (Family Guy, Robot Chicken to name a couple). Rogue One remedies that entirely. I also love how Rogue One ends by leading directly into ANH, but it makes Leia's protests to Vader that she is on a diplomatic mission seem a little silly now... ***** I JUST WATCHED YOU FLY OUT OF A MILITARY FRIGATE.
  22. McLeod John Baltazar Bethel-Thompson. No joke. He was on our practice roster for a while but was released before the end of the season. He's bounced around the NFL.
  23. I agree 100%, but this will trigger someone, guaranteed.
  24. I see it a little differently. I'd rather like to see the best up and comers stick around the CFL of course, but having CFL coaches work in the NCAA likely gives our league some positive exposure down south. Maybe even resulting in players and coaches looking to our league as a viable option. I suspect we'll see Steinauer back in the CFL one day.
