  1. Right, it all depends on what pick they want in return. The Jets threads are full of people talking about how Buff's playoff experience, leadership and locker room presence is such an asset that makes up for his perceived shortcomings. Doan brings all these things, and and is a community-minded player to boot.
  2. How high a pick? I would have Doan back, if he'd have us back.
  3. I'm glad we have the Jets back to distract me when football isn't around. Football, CFL in particular, is the sport I'm most passionate about. Thank goodness the draft is around the corner and TC shortly after... I can't wait to see what a conventional D will do for this team.
  4. No microbrew! And no antiquing! Wouldn't putting you, 17 and Noeller in the same room by definition be antiquing? Very well played...I laughed right out loud. And death to "No microbrew".....we have these awesome stone coasters on the coffee table that say "Craft Beer Only". Isn't there some cool brew pub in Winnipeg that's got a ton of microbrews on tap? I'm all in... Your best bet might be at Luxalune on Osborne. It's a few blocks South of one of the Rapid Transit stations that you can ride direct to the stadium, so it's convenient AND serves over 100 craft beers. These guys are affiliated with Farmery beer in some way. But you'd do yourself a disservice if you didn't stop at the Toad in the Hole in Osborne while you're nearby. Try the pretzel burger!
  5. There there Gbill. In the cosmic sense, nobody needs your reports. But there are plenty of people, myself included, that really enjoyed and look forward to your TC posts. Let's be real here... we all know wild horses couldn't drag you away from TC, so you'd might as well share what you see. It is appreciated, even if you get your balls busted by a couple of schlemiels now and then. They just jelly you get to sit in the sun watching football while they shuffle papers around under fluorescent lights.
  6. Google says he was a 4 year starter at University of Illinois. Undrafted, signed with Carolina in 2011, then the 49ers in 2013. Has got a beefy leg. This is the latest video I could find.
  7. Star Wars has tractors beams... and communicators, in ear comms, voice interface... all in that bald android guy in cloud city!... but more importantly it has light-sabers and princesses in gold bikinis. Checkmate sir.
  8. Yep... no fantasy in Star Trek. Just pretend dilithium is actually a thing, and ignore the existence of the prophets or motherfucking Q, and it is all clearly rooted in science. Considering that virtually none of the technology in Star Trek actually exists, doesn't that make all of it 'sciencey sounding mumbo jumbo'? What actual science is there in Star Trek? I love sci-fi and fantasy alike. There certainly is a distinction. Star Trek is primarily Sci-Fi, no doubt, but it unabashedly borrows from fantasy on the regular.
  9. I don't even think it's the cost, I think someone is going to be unhappy with the lack of work they're getting. Lot of those guys probably went with the idea of being more involved. 'Ottawa some snakes, they lied to (them)' -KG
  10. Is that a Fred Stamps joke? LOL I never stopped being a Hef fan. Good luck to him.
  11. Seconded. Daredevil is the best new show I've seen in a while.
  12. http://cfl.ca/article/final-stamp-romby-bryant-retires-a-stampeder In the article he thanks Bobby Dyce and Milt Stegall for helping him early in his CFL career.
  13. Yes, I'm so excited, look at all those exclamation marks!!!!!!!!
  14. From Wikipedia: -Scott only recorded five carries for 15 yards in 11 games played. -At the NFL Combine, Scott ran the 40 in 4.34 seconds, the fastest time recorded by any of the participating running backs. -In one preseason game he had one carry for a 97-yard touchdown, and in another preseason game ran a fake punt in 65 yards for a touchdown. Sounds like he has some speed to burn and a knack for outrunning every other person on the field. EDIT: the 5 carries for 15 yards in 11 games played was just 2011. Looks like he did start a game or two in 2013 after all: http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/14087/darel-scott
  15. Didn't expect him to be FA for long.
  16. Dude, you're reading way too much into that. What I'd like to have seen is someone ask Walters 'Is Drew Willy (or some other obvious incumbent) returning to camp this year?' and when he emphatically says 'YES!!!' follow up with 'What about Steve Morley?', only to get the 'I won't talk publicly about a players future' - that would say a lot.
  17. I learned this was a thing today, and now I want to watch all the GGN nsfw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrRKrj3-kLU&feature=youtu.be
  18. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the NFL scrimmage from the 3 yard line on 2 point converts today?
  19. It was posted on the Blue Bombers website on Mar12 and has been advertised on Facebook for sure, but I haven't seen anything in the papers or heard anything on the radio. http://www.bluebombers.com/article/2015-fan-forum
  20. He is one hell of a good returner. I wonder why the Esks cut him. Are they so flush at DB? Wasn't that long ago he led the league in INTs and he's only 28.
  21. Brilliant! Apparently, he thought the play had been blown dead due to defensive offsides, and had been coached to stay still to prevent any chance of the Oline being penalized for a false start. Whatever the case... it looks pretty funny and he's standing out in the worst way. Other than this... has anyone heard anything else about Mr Sanders?
  22. Tearing it up on the basketball court, apparently.
  23. That would be some damn good advice. I was lucky enough to by my house in 2007, and not long after that the housing prices in Winnipeg really took off. Not the nicest place but it's in a great neighborhood (Portage/Ferry area, south side of Portage). Now, after a little bit of work the house couldn't possibly go for less than 180k if it hit the market. I can remember feeling gouged when I paid 91k. Had no idea how lucky I really was. My brother is buying his first home now, same area roughly but north of Ness. He has to borrow from my folks to get the 10% minimum he needs for CMHC. He's lucky to have that luxury, I have no idea how the next generation of home buyers are going to make it work, especially if their parents can't help them out.
  24. This has me thinking... I'm curious to see whether the best OL get drafted first or if they're around later. If anyone is more bored than I am and could throw that information together it would be interesting to look at. I know there are some drafts where the best OL taken weren't the first guys taken. Would be neat to see just how accurate CFL teams are with their assessments. It is interesting to see how many top/first round picks are busts compared to guys taken way later in the draft. I've always liked the Justin Sorensen/Luc Brodeur-Jordain comparison. In 2008, Sorensen was the 3rd OL taken that year, 5th overall (Labatte was the 4th OL, 6th overall)... Brodeur-Jourdain has been a division All-Star twice and was the very last player taken in the draft, 48th overall.
