  1. Picard was gone before he got here. That's right. We lost Picard heading into 2009 when Mike Kelly was at the helm. Picard was an FA heading into the 2012 season, though, so we/Mack did have a shot at him.
  2. Miller was good enough to play 11 seasons, 2 of which he was named a divisional all-star. He is the current record holder for career special teams tackles. Sounds like their are enough facts to back up the statement that Miller clearly had the talent to be a CFLer.
  3. An LaPo before him. It's almost as though HCs hold their cards close to their chests or something.
  4. I have a feeling we will see the logjam at top of the leaderboard get broken up a bit this weekend.
  5. Always a good read when you post your Odds and Sods, win or lose. Content is far more important than frequency or timing anyways. Not that it isn't an interesting stat
  6. Denmark continues to elevate his game year after year. He played in every game and made some spectacular catches. If there were an award for most consistent player he would win it hands down. I could see the argument that Denmark is our MOP ahead of Willy, who for reasons being endlessly debated has regressed as the season went on. No one player jumps off the stats sheet. We'll never know, but I bet Cotton would have been in the mix if we would have moved on from Grigsby when we should have.
  7. Wow, some of the names on there... a trip down memory lane
  8. Jake Thomas. That's the only one I can think of too, and a 4th round after-thought too boot, just goes to show how bad it's been. Don Oramasionwu
  9. Nice! I'm going to borrow this from time to time.
  10. Did you go to the Grey Cup in Calgary in 09 was it? Was one of the highlights of my CFL viewing experiences to witness first hand all those annoying as **** Rider fans having their hearts ripped from their chests on the too many men penalty. Just amazing. If I had a time machine, I would definitely stop by to check this out.
  11. Don't say things like that iso, with our luck it would happen. TOR vs SSK. We could call it the 'Who Gives A **** Bowl'.
  12. Our Foreign Minister doesn't seem to think the killer was associated with ISIS/ISIL. "Foreign Minister John Baird told the BBC gunman Michael Zehaf-Bibeau was "certainly radicalised", but was not on a list of high-risk individuals. Mr Baird told the BBC there were no substantiated claims yet that Zehaf-Bibeau was associated with Islamic State." http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-29752077 I reiterate that people here on Canadian soil have more to fear from domestic terrorism than they do from foreign terrorism.
  13. Glad I could bring some cheer into this dark day! Okay, I'm neither scared nor comparing this tragedy to 9/11, merely clarifying my reasoning why I hoped the killer was a homegrown white kid... preferably one named something like Ken or Doug or I dunno Brandon. Just look how quick people have been leaping to the conclusion this is somehow connected to ISIS before virtually any facts have come out (not on this board, just in general). As if our involvement in the crisis overseas is the only reason some nutbar could possibly have to 'attack the governement' Make no mistake, this is tragic even if only one innocent life was lost. It certainly could have been worse, yet is going to be long discussed in Ottawa.
  14. What an awful sentiment. Who cares the colour of skin involved? It's the ideology. Obviously much to soon to speculate but people will speculate when the attack was on a soldier. Especially after the attack a few days ago. You never want to politicize something like this but I admit to thinking on the many stupid things Trudeau has said. I think the point there is that if it's the stereotype it just furthers said stereotype and leads to all sorts of prejudice and racism perpetuating further. If it were a born and raised white Canada it's hard to fly off the handle about Islam and muslims etc etc. I just hope the government doesn't use this as an excuse to go all 'Murica! and start taking away freedoms and rights in the name of safety because that's the worst possible response. You got it 17, sorry you missed my point TUP. Incase you aren't aware, following an event like 9/11 there was a lot of misdirected hatred towards anyone that even slightly resembled an arab. Sikhs and east Indians, middle eastern Jews... anyone with a beard and a tan, really... so ya, I sincerely hope this is some home grown psychosis so we don't have any more fuel added to the fire of racial intolerance and suspicion.
  15. Please oh please let the shooter be a Canadian born white boy from some farm out in the bush. For the sake of peaceful brown people everywhere. There is such a thing as domestic terrorism, and airstrikes in Iraq won't stop the Timothy McVeighs and FLQs of the world.
  16. And hand grenades. Was just about to say that .. Dad's favorite quote. That, and proclaiming we are having '**** on a shingle' when I asked what was for dinner. Odd bird.
  17. And hand grenades.
  18. Can't agree enough. During the off season I'm STARVING for every scrap of CFL news I can get. Once the season arrives, I don't miss a game. The season is too short and the off season is too long... you just don't wait all winter to pass on game action. EDIT: I may PVR it, but I'll definitely watch it
  19. Okay let me get this straight. We shouldn't believe that Grigsby is a sub-par RB based on our own observations, but you're willing to accept that the Bombers cut him solely to save a couple bucks? Based on...nothing at all? Wow indeed.
  20. If anyone here actually called him one of the worst backs in the league it's hyperbole. He had speed, he could catch, eventually he remembered how to block, too. Grigsby just wasn't good enough to do what we expect him to: break tackles. I remember in game one when he took a huge hit that should have put him down for a loss, but instead he bounced and spun off the tackler and ran it upfield for a few extra yards. When that happened I forgot all about Cotton's pre-season showing. And that's pretty much the last time he impressed me.
  21. I bet that 'Great Grigsby / best athlete in the CFL' video went straight to his head. Don't believe your own press, they say.
  22. Honestly the biggest underperformance of the season. I predicted Smith was going to do some good things this season. Yep, who knew Crompton would show better than Smith.
  23. We should trade him to Toronto for an American DL we'll never see.
  24. I skimmed the tweets and didn't see much worth discussing, maybe they've been deleted. Closest to negativity I found was something like 'Trying real hard to be a pro right now' I also wanted to see someone other than Grigsby in the backfield but Cotton hardly lit it up like I hoped he would...
