In this BS scenario a Bomber player wants out of this mismanaged hell hole so badly that he would refuse a promotion to the AR so that the Bombers would be effectively forced to allow the poaching. Pretty ridiculous, especially if they are supposedly allowed to walk from their PR contract any time they want and sign with another team that same season with no repercussions. It doesn't make sense to me either. But its the CFL, bushiest of the bush, nothing would surprise me either way

If a player can't refuse a promotion from the PR to the AR then technically the team can protect them from being poached if they choose to by promoting them, hard stop end of convo. Of course a player could ask for a release, and of course a reasonable GM would consider it, but rules as written... teams hold all the leverage. Piggy no doubt was offered a PR spot after Prukop was signed and declined it, immediately becoming an FA. Pretty sure he said "not saying it doesn't happen"

Point blank yes or no questions: 1. can a team activate a player on their PR to prevent them from being poached? (So far, the concensus is yes and previously posted news articles back this up) Yes or no? 2. can a player refuse to be promoted from the PR to the AR, and as a result facilitate the poaching? Even though the team holding his rights wanted to activate him? (Sounds fishy) Yes or no? 3. can a player end their own PR contract and sign as a FA elsewhere in the same season? Yes or no? That would clear up a lot for me. I dont care about 6game 1game or demotions to the PR... I'm asking very specifically about promoting from the PR to the AR I cant be more clear

This makes more sense to me tbh. And once suspended they can't play for anyone else until their rights expire or they get dealt. This is all more in line with what I would expect. Between the 'gentleman's agreement' among GMs, and the fact that teams holding a player's rights hold all the leverage, nobody gets poached without a team basically letting it happen. In other words, if we want to keep Haba, we can do it easily by activating him to the AR. Thanks yall for your explanations even if they continue to conflict hahaha

Thanks man. Sounds like PRs are the take-a-penny leave-a-penny dish of the CFL. I figured if a team held a players rights and they held out, the that player isn't playing for anyone til their rights get dealt, like any normal contract. Didnt realize PR was so different. I'm surprised more poaching doesn't happen already in that case. As you said, most guys especially Americans are here to play

That's because he didn't go on the PR, he was a free agent when he signed in OTT CFL legend Sam Montgomery? Played zero regular season snaps for EDM before landing on our PR a the conclusion of the 2017 season. Was released less than a month later. Was then brought back in January 2018 and was a final cut out of training camp that year. He did not get back on our practice roster and went of to play in the Arena League, hasn;t been in the CFL since.

What he's saying is the Bombers could simply place Haba on the AR to prevent the poaching from happening. See here, back in 2018 this was all discussed. Secondly, the team that owns the player’s rights can retain them by moving the player to the active roster, one-game injured reserve or six-game injured reserve. This can prove problematic for teams, however, as roster space is limited. Thirdly, the player in question must consent to the transfer. Going to a new team is always in the player’s best financial interest — active roster spots pay considerably more than practice roster spots — but may not be desirable for other reasons. And yes, if Haba is as good as we all believe, I am sure O’Shea would protect him from being poached.

I tried the 'Undertaker' from Underdogs: Rosemary buttered beef patty, jalapeño jack cheese, sundried tomato aioli, pickled red onion, classic steak frites Yep, that was quality beef and a taste that's a little out of the ordinary without overcomplicating or outright forgetting what a burger is. The pickled red onion brought something different and steak frites added some crunchy texture. It still doesn't top their 'Randy Savage', winner of Le Burger Week in 2018 and current regular menu item.

...we would have done something you don't recall seeing happen at a professional football game ever in all the years you've watched football? Nice. Act like a bunch of college kids. Got it. They will surely listen to us then. Less to do with age, more to do with era. Surely a pro football team can get past the macho BS of the past millenia and settle this like professionals; on the field, between whistles. Make them pay with their playoff cheques.
