  1. I liked when he was supposed to BAMF his way 15 fifteen feet back and to the left like an X-Man to 'do more on the play' never mind the guy he was already blocking, not like that guy was after Zach or anything.
  2. Oh **** it is? Then why do I have to download all these pdfs to get stats? Like we've gone back in time
  3. Davis has been one of the best defenders in the league and made some remarkable plays from his position, I seem to recall a leaping one-handed INT maybe in 2019? I wonder if this had to do with him not reporting for training camp, bad blood maybe? Only speculation on my part
  4. Yes I'm sure you're right, a good example of a bad play in a game we lost. I'm certainly not suggesting he's been perfect or even great, only that he's not caving in constantly and being blown up all the time like it's been suggested. He's been beat, sure. So has perennial all-star and among the greatest OL of all time Stanley Bryant. So has Neufeld. So has Yoshi. Gray is now riding the pine. Maybe Eli doesn't make the same mistakes, maybe he doesn't draw flags and calls perfect protection schemes, maybe we'll even find out soon... whatever makes us a better team I'm all for it. Though, if I were a betting man I'd say Kola holds onto his starting spot out of the bye, same way I said he'd hold onto his starting position in the off-season and throughout camp. Is it the right call? Who can really say, other than we're 5-2 and near the top of the league in offense, our starting QB and RB are class of the league and that they don't do it all on their own
  5. I believe the second holding flag was declined and inconsequential so I don't know how that impacts the grades but that is puzzling. It looks to me like the pressure is coming from everyone on the OL, not just the interior. I've watched a second time, focusing on the OL and trying to see what everyone else is seeing, and he just doesn't look as bad as I am being led to believe. The whole OL had struggles and got better as the game went on. I think that's typical and actually a sign that things are ultimately working... pound the ball, wear down the D, take control late and don't give it back. We aren't fully there yet but it feels close to me
  6. Nope he snapped every ball, Eli came in for a few plays here and there especially late. Kola is not a world beater but boy is his 'cave in' reputation way overblown. The replay is posted in the GDT I'm ready to go break down every snap. Live in the GDT thought I was taking crazy pills, the 'Kolapse' when it's Bryant that oles his man, the supposed 'bad protection call' by Kola when Dobson just plain gets beat one on one, the 2nd down Bailey catch when 'Kola is in Collaros' lap' while literally being the furthest downfield of any OL, it's crazy that the entire OL can take turns coughing up bad plays but the center is the only one under a microscope on the forum I don't even like the guy that much it's the whipping boy routine that wears on me
  7. Yes he looked suspect to me as well but they did take over in the 4th and he was a part of it. First game gelling, I am optimistic he can bring more in the long run
  8. https://www.cfl.ca/2023/07/25/cfl-honour-roll-week-7-collaros-leonard-bombers-o-line-make-the-grade/ Zach Collaros ... and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ offensive line have made the grade for Week 7 in the Canadian Football League (CFL) Honour Roll powered by Pro Football Focus (PFF). CFL HONOUR ROLL – WEEK 7: OFFENCE QB | Zach Collaros | Winnipeg Blue Bombers | WPG 28 – EDM 14 PFF Player Grade: 84.6 20-of-24 passing (season-high 83.3 per cent) for 308 yards and two touchdowns Two passes for 30+ yards, including a personal season’s best 70-yard effort to Nic Demski for a touchdown in the third quarter 129.2 efficiency rating CFL HONOUR ROLL – WEEK 7: OFFENSIVE LINE Winnipeg Blue Bombers | WPG 28 – EDM 14 PFF unit grade: 79.8 Top-3 performers: Patrick Neufeld | 72.2 Chris Kolankowski | 70.8 Liam Dobson | 68.9 CFL HONOUR ROLL: ALL-WEEK 7 QB | Zach Collaros | Winnipeg Blue Bombers | 84.6 RB | Brady Oliveira | Winnipeg Blue Bombers | 72.9 REC | Nate Behar | Ottawa REDBLACKS | 79.4 OL | Colin Kelly | Saskatchewan Roughriders | 75.0 DL | Mike Rose | Calgary Stampeders | 79.3 LB | Ben Hladik | BC Lions | 80.6 DB | Richard Leonard | Hamilton Tiger-Cats | 86.1 K/P | Bailey Flint | Hamilton Tiger-Cats | 79.0 ST | Jayden Dalke | Saskatchewan Roughriders | 91.8 Granted it was against the hands-down worst team in the league, but it's nice to see Zach, Brady, and the OL grading out well compared to other teams.
  9. Luck is preparation plus opportunity, no mystical energies won us a cup/cups, it was a coach and his team that won it. Leave the superstition to medieval peasants
  10. Fair, but that's the Johnny Augustine YPC avg argument over again though. You can't take away 'the easy ones', they happened and they count. Or we need to take away every other DB's 'easy ones' too No that's Kola
  11. I suppose where things get blurry is when a guy (real-time example, Holm in game 1) gets targeted 4 times, makes 2 PKDs, but 3 DTs... at least one of those DTs came from a play that was not a target vs that player if 2 of his 4 targets were knocked down... so it's an interesting bit of data, but still far from the total picture. Above, if we directly correlate tackles to completions allowed, Holm has given up 100% of his targets while somehow knocking down 7 passes. Doesn't quite compute. But is is interesting nonetheless.
  12. Roger that, when I have time I'll take another look
  13. Then I will gladly look this information up and report back. If we are going to have an ongoing narrative around here I'd like it to be backed by facts, not feelings Where do you get your completion % vs/catches allowed by specific DBs stats from? CFL.ca is unfortunately very limited right now, cfldb only has data from previous seasons Here's a little of what I scraped together so far: Holm - 7 games played, 29 targets (4.1/game), 7 PKDs 0 INTs Houston - 6 games played, 19 targets (3.1/game), 4 PKDs, 5 INTs Clements - 6 games played, 20 targets (3.3/game), 0 PKDs, 0 INTs Alexander - 7 games played, 21 targets (3.0/game), 0 PKDs, 1 INTs ADS - 5 games played, 23 targets (4.6/game), 3 PKDs, 0 INTs Holm certainly gets a share of targets but it's hardly lopsided. It appears ABS is quickly becoming the new target of choice for the opposing offense. Actual completion rates vs these DBs would be much more telling. I'll surely come fill this out further if anyone can point me in the right direction as to where to find catches allowed by/% compl. vs specific DBs
  14. Any time I break out stats I'm told they aren't worth the paper they're written on anyhow, or that stats are for losers ho don't watch the game (pissing and snacking). I'm not going to bother anymore.
  15. We've celebrated so many ugly wins here and elsewhere, this wasn't even that ugly, its a 7/10 in the dark after 4 1919's, I'm taking it home
  16. I'll take a 2 score win that featured our longest drive of the season
  17. ....coaxing him in gently... easing if you will
  18. If it walks like a dog and barksike a dog... love Bailey
  19. Yes let's get cute now, for giggles
  20. Think holm leads the league in knockdowns now After that shot he took earlier I wouldn't be shocked
  21. Nice pass d at least
  22. He's wearing 67 you know that right? Go back and watch
  23. Not on the bailey throw go back and watch im glued to the OL
