And this is exactly the type of posts that we mock on Riderfans for saying such insane things.... it's the same as how Rider fans make the same case for Fajardo being the best in the league. No Nichols was not the best QB in the league in 2019, jeeze even on here people were making lists of best QBs and slotted Nichols in the 3rd tier just above the Jennings / Davis level. BLM, Reilly, Evans, Masoli, Fajardo, Adams, Arbuckle were all easily better then him. Insanity to suggest that he was the best QB in the league in 2019 pre injury.

6 of the 9 games he played he tossed for less then 210 yards. Did you not watch him play in 2017 when he was healthy? 15 of the 17 games he played in he had more then 225 yards passing. Stats are not everything but come on now he was light years better when he was healthy. 2019 he played safe football which was perfect for our team because of how great everyone else... but in 2019 he wasn't elite. He was a game manager which was good for us but don't pretend that if he was the starting qb for Ottawa in 2019 that he would be able to put a team on his back and win games.

You are on par if not worse then Riderfans who use their tinted glasses and revisionist history to try to back up your claims. Nichols in 2021 is the exact same guy as he was in 2018-2019 but now without an all star o-line and RB to help him out and with a further damaged throwing arm. Hey I loved Khari at one point to but unlike you I can admit and come to reality that in his last days with the Blue he was hot garbage because of the accumulation of injuries on him. It doesn't mean that Khari was a garbage player and that he sucks... it just means that at a certain point he went from awesome to no longer serviceable in a short period of time.

I'm excited to see new QB's in the league, it makes the games much more exciting to see the ups and downs.

That interception was on the receiver, it's unfortunate but sometimes the bounces go the wrong way. I wouldn't classify it as a panic move or terrible decision unlike the Masoli interceptions where he faced our awesome pressure and just blindly tossed the ball into our players hands. Wilder - Fair game on picking on Wilder... I wouldn't say he's anywhere near Carter level of deserving the hate. But Wilder definitely seems like a me first kind of person.... personally I think everyone on here will pick on Banks for this season and I fully support them.

Lol watch how he played when he first came to the Bombers and then rewatch the games in 2018-2019. Night and day difference in where prior to his injuries he played with zero fear and physically was able to throw the ball with zip 5 - 20 yards down field to receivers in stride. I made a fantastic post a few years back showing how pre injuries he was throwing for 250+ yards almost in every game up until he was hurt and then afterwards it dropped sharply. He had zero zip on his throws and his mobility/escapability was even further reduced. He was a gunslinger when he joined us and then was a completely different person afterwards. Do you not remember when Strelever took over the first time in 2018 and how receivers suddenly were seeing the ball and the offense was far more vertical... same with when Zach took over last season. Nichols physically was done after his 2018 injury and now 2021 Nichols is even further deteriorated to a point that it's unsafe for him to go out anymore. Rewatch the 2019 season and count how many times he skipped balls in the dirt despite having a tonne of protection and open space.... these throws are the ones that other QB's routinely could make.

I'm absolutely excited about Buck Pierce and either Zack or McGuire throwing the ball for us. It can only go up from here and it will be nice to take deep shots and stretch the defense.
-
He definitely seemed to carry over the same offense to Ottawa... several very familiar running plays that he used against the Elks. He likes the trick plays and the delayed draws. However he did call plays for the wideouts (several screen passes) but the issue is that without a QB who can rifle it... the DB's had all the time in the world to catch up to the guy catching the screen and it made it near impossible for the receiver to get any YAC. It worked with Durant because he did have a cannon arm and was able to also push the ball deep.

They played it out as if he's mentally all over the place when he's on the field as well. Made it seem like he's up and down emotionally as a player. I will say it's refreshing that TSN did point out that MBT did accumulate a lot of yards during garbage time last season which was true.

Well you don't need to get into a debate because my point is you hire the best person possible and your point has no legs. Create a thread and we can go into a great discussion about how you will convince me that the CFL teams for diversity should field female players or even female coaches. See how silly that sounds? The old he's ignorant is such a cop out comment. Milt I assume is because of name recognition and because he is a handsome guy and people genuinely like him. Barker... I assume is because Benevides is busy? I'm assuming that their isn't to many CFL coaches that still keep tabs on the game and who are available...

I'm confused? Is your whole family currently infected with COVID?

I have no hate for the guy but it disturbs me that for years Statler and Waldorf on here have been bashing LaPolice and when I have proven time over time again that the issue was Nichols it's very sweet to see those two stubborn old men finally acknowledge that they have been wrong this whole time.
-
MBT is much better then what a few critics on here who have to resort to calling him crazy. Athletically he has a quick release and a really strong arm, he can make throws across the field with no issues. I think this will be a perfect test to see where we are at.

I wouldn't of mind had they dropped Hamilton below Toronto but I am shocked that the Riders were not placed in the #2 slot.
-
Yes he did, it wasn't AS bad but it wasn't much different. He was skipping balls in the dirt, turning receivers because he couldn't hit them in stride and was only able to do quick hitters. Every off seasons since then the story was "Nichols worked out big time in the gym and has added additional strength." That was the cover up story for his limp noodle arm and his terrible mobility. The guy sadly was done years ago, the drop off was on par if not even higher then when Khari got hurt and couldn't make the throws that he had made in his prime. TSN listed Matt's winning %.... a whole lot of those wins were because of a rock solid D and having the best o-line and RB in the league. The win % was as misleding as Bishop's one year where he went 12-1 or whatever it was.

The dude is going to be paying a ridiculous fine... probably between 125 - 250 thousand. And they should throw the book at him because he deserves it. What an idiot.
-
So if they for whatever reason hired Kathy Griffin who is irritating and annoying to listen to you would steal be happy because of a diversity hire? Give me someone who is qualified and who is the best person they could hire to fill the position over doing a diversity hire. Beirness is perfectly fine so it all works out but yeesh I wasn't aware that Noeller is a simp lol. For the rest of the crew.... Stegall is still useless... Sanchez while I'm not a fan of the player is far superior to Milt and offers way better insights. Barker is kind of dry, LaPo was more entertaining and maybe when he's canned he'll join the crew later this year. I wish Matt could be doing color with Smith... those were always the best games to listen to and even better when it featured the crap teams like Ottawa because then Matt would really go rogue and make it absolutely hilarious. For the Polar Bear guy.. he's kind of weird but mostly correct. More so in the States... they hire by voice , name recognition and for the "diversity female hires" that Noeller is so happy for they hire perfect "10" eye candy with good voices. I don't think TSN is the same though and guys like Black are around because he's "versatile" a familiar name and convenient.

It's been so long since we've had a starter that has not been playing shell-shocked (Nichols 2015-2017) and then sadly probably Glenn so many years before that I think fans forgot what it is like to have a capable starting QB. It's nice to know that we have someone who can at least deliver the ball to the receivers to at least give them the chance to make the play.
-
I would assume all Bomber fans after week 1 are F'ing ecstatic! Outside of Montreal, every team we saw this week looked very mundane and completely beatable. I'm very optimistic for this season after the first week.

So you will finally admit that the guy since his 2018 injury is absolutely dog **** garbage and stop pretending it's Lapo's gameplan? Yes everyone will agree that Nichols was a nice guy and loyal and is tough and a good person.... nothing bad with his personality. But dear lord he had 650+ days off and his arm still can barely muster a 5 yard pass. Physically he looked so weak and looked like he should be an accountant rather then a QB. If I'm an Ottawa fan I'm livid that they traded for him instead of MBT. The guy is exactly how he was in 2018 and 2019 which was playing terrified and scared and physically is so shot that he can't do anything. On his 5 sacks easily 3 of them could of been avoided. He had once again WIDE open receivers but he plays so scared that he can only do a quick hitter or look at his first read and then turtle and crumple up. Even Barker pointed out that the guy has a noodle arm and accuracy just like in 2018 - 2019 is way off where receivers are never hit in stride and have to jump backwards to make the catch. The only blame on LaPo should be that the brought him in as a starting QB and then kept Davis as his back up. LaPo's loyality is going to cost him his 2nd coaching gig and if he doesn't pull the plug in week 3 and move on and desperately try to find someone else. Lapo might not even last the season. Nichols starting for the CFL in 2021 is an embarassment on the league. Retire the guy ASAP before he cripples himself.

I know and that was what made it hilarious. Apparently Hamilton was really off, the refs favoured the Bombers, the Bombers were very lucky and looked absolutely putrid in a lucky to win game.
-
I think we may have seen the last of Nichols... every off season he "bulks up" and then gets hurt as soon as he gets hit..... the Rbs screwed themselves by putting their chips on a completely shot QB without a solid back up on the roster....
-
They probably didn't show the replay because he wasn't really close to the LOS and probably wanted to spare Black from looking worse then what he already did.
-
I made the horrible mistake of visiting Riderfans.... noticed how dead those forums are and how disillusioned they appear to be. They are so very salty about the Bombers looking good last night!
-
They used it a few times during the broadcast... it kind of was neat I guess?
