The American teams will be coming and going every season which would result in dispersal drafts constantly. Also as said before do you think if we get a guy who starts to prosper that he wouldn't take equal or more money to live down South near his friends and family?
-
I don't know about that, the fact that the rosters would continually rotate so you wouldn't be able to build bonds or interest in favourite players would be a big impact. The change of the rules would only hurt interest as well. I kind of like the fact that we have guys who stick around and who we can root for.
-
I was told that he should of been traded for Price because Helle has already peaked and we can get maximum value if we unload him now
-
Going off my point in the other thread... I wonder how many free agents would of signed in Winnipeg in the last few years if they had the option of staying closer to home and living year round in a nicer climate in areas with a much more lively night life.
-
So if they change the field and the rules and remove the Canadians from the game... then why would I watch the Blue Bombers when I could watch the NFL? The only reason I watch the CFL is because of it's uniqueness and Canadian players. I can't believe so called fans on here are trying to sell it to themselves that things need to change and can't always be the same. Change the marketing, change the game day experience, change the presentation on tv. Don't change the rules, field size, and whatever gives the CFL it's unique flavour. The moment they change things to cater to the American audience/teams is the moment they lose the vast majority of the remaining CFL football fans and with American teams coming and going and rosters constantly being dispersed and changed it will crap on any continuity. It will be like the Moose/Goldeyes where every season it's a different cast of characters on the team. Also good luck luring any free agents to Winnipeg when they have options of living closer to home or in much more desirable locations with lower taxes and much more things to do. When the Jets left no die hard sports fans gave two shits about the Moose. The Moose was like the Goldeyes which was only around because it was a nice cheap night out to take the family for something fun. I never once saw any adults wearing jerseys or anyone talking about how they were playing at work. The CFL will be watered down like the AHL or the baseball league, nobody will give a crap and unlike the Moose who could remain profitable with 3000 - 4000 attendance per game, the Blue Bombers won't be able to survive with attendances like that.
-
I'm not sure how that relates but my friends and some of co-workers who live in Ottawa now mainly go because it's a really fun night out. They are far from die hard football fans. I had asked them about back in the day with the Renegades and I didn't realize how poor the stadium was and how terrible the owners were and what a complete crap-show it was when they had mardi gras themed events where Women were being harassed and put into really unsafe situations. It's night and day different now from what they say.

Football interest was dropping before the pandemic and BLM. BLM doesn't even really impact the general audience of NFL (which is primarily older white men). Basketball is really hot with the youth and the key demos. NFL is still ridiculously popular and still makes insane cash, but overall interest in football is definitely down as a whole. Just look at how mediocre the reception was for the AAFL/XFL and how Arena football went under.
-
Based on what? Interest in football is on the decline (and the demographics are aging) with NBA grabbing a lot of the young audience.
-
Point A - American Audience had very little interest in XFL 1.0, Arena Football , AAFL or whatever that other league was called last year, and less success with XFL 2.0 then they had with XFL 1.0 Point B - The NFL itself is losing popularity and college ball in the States will ALWAYS be way more popular then CFL. Fantasy football is a pipe dream and never going to happen (see NFL/NCAA as reasons why). I guess a TV contract is a possibility? Point C - Video game is meaningless for ownership and CFL will never have a AAA football game. The CFL would get peanuts as a license fee from any developer making a CFL game. Like literally each time *might* get $25 000 if that. I just have HEAVY skepticism when 5 different attempts WITH great tv deals and super rich owners have failed in the states and now I'm suppose to believe that magically the Rock will make this 6th attempt work? I've heard all these fluff lines before "We have unique thinking, we have billionaire owners, we have great football minds" and they ALL have falled flat with just minimal amounts of successes in certain cities. Merging with the XFL I think will turn the CFL into something similar to the Goldeyes situation where every year teams join and leave the league and you have zero idea who the hell or what the hell the teams are. With the constant changes it will IMO diminish interest from the hardcore fans and you'll end up with stadiums partially full of fairweather fans paying $10 dollars a ticket to merely enjoy a nice night out of the house. To me this seems like the quick fix lazy way out from Ambrosie.
-
Where's our Monctom team , I thought Ambrosie was going to have it up and running by now I think Ottawa is a great example of how those questionable cities can learn from. Many of the people I know who go to Redblack games go because of the gameday experience (more so then the love of the CFL).
-
I don't get how fresh thinking unique reach and experience of xfl ownership is going to help the CFL at all.
-
Wasn't Dinwiddie the temp OC at Montreal ? I'd be much more impressed if he would of brought in some new major sponsors instead....
-
I thought that the XFL 2.0 did not have the circus/gimmicks? The first incarnation of the xfl 20 years ago had the weird ****.
-
Also if the XFL failed with Vince McMahon who has way more money then the Rock and way better connections in the tv world.... how would XFL 2.0 help the CFL out? I don't see anything the XFL can do to help out the CFL outside of dumping in a cash infusion. The XFL brand is worthless and as everyone already pointed out their is no way they could keep the game the same (field size , Canadian players) and I don't see how adding American teams will help increase viewership and or fan attendance for live games. So Ambrosie wants to chat with them to share ideas? What could the XFL which lasted one failed season offer as positive ideas to a league that is been around so long like the CFL? It's not like the Rock will be appearing at the games dropping promos, he and his exwife are rich because he a roided up charismatic actor... not a financial or sports marketing genius. XFL of course will fluff this up because they have everything to gain while CFL has really nothing unless the Americans drop cold hard cash. Just a terrible all around idea and extremely bad timing for Ambrosie to bring this up. Get your **** in order and figure out how you will get money to get this season going before pissing off the fan base.

I drive by lots of Cathy Cox bus benches and it appears her surprised out of it look is an actual match to her personality. Jesus Christ this is such an easy answer and such a small ask (even if the NDP lady was overly dramatic saying kids are not going to school because of it) , you'd think they would of approved or at least address her answer and say some kind of "We will look into it" kind of answer instead of the data blockers. Also the data blocking USB is a waste of money, most bad people can steal way more then enough personal info by looking at people being careless with what they post on social media.

Maybe I'm out of the loop and correct me if I'm wrong...... but we still have not heard an official Plan A / Plan B for this season on how the league will go forward and whether they need federal support? However Ambrosie does have the time and made sure to prioritize to the public that they are looking at the XFL? Does this guy have any clue? Is he so clueless that he would get things backwards and tell the public what they would not want to hear and hold back telling any sort of news that would give the fans any sort of hope? Hopefully I don't get banned but Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu***********************************************************************kkkkkkkkkk Ambrosie.
-
I'd assume they'd terminate his contract and he files for bankruptcy and then after his assets are liquidated they then sign him up again?
-
Are you suggesting that he hasn't been terrible this season?
-
I'm pretty sure on here and Riderfans everyone would blow up if they merged the leagues together. I think a whole lot more then poop would be dumped on Ambrosie's lawn....
-
A reminder these are betting odds and not the probability of winning the Grey Cup. Betting odds are impacted and changed based on popularity many times and how they predict money will be placed down for future bets. It's much more prelevent in Boxing/MMA fights with people betting on names they recognize (Connor McGregor) rather then actual who is the better talent. They have Saskatchewan high because it's more likely that Rider fans are willing to throw money down on a bet.
-
You'd think with all the money that they could of done something better or even just get rid of the deathmatch gimmick all together. Most common fans would associate deathmatch with backyard wrestling with light tubes, it's not a good idea. It's also disappointing that AEW is slowly becoming TNA 2005... Christian Cage who is 47 and hasn't wrestled in 7+ years...he debuted in 2005 with TNA.... they really should be focusing on the young talent and building stars from within. Sting is 60+ , Big Show/Shaq are almost 50, Cage and Jericho are old.... to put it in perspective... Hogan was 41 when he was deemed to old for WWF and went to WCW. Warrior was 38 and Macho was 43. I don't get why they are bringing in those old names and using them for anything outside of a manager/on screen personality. Tony Khan is the next Dixie Carter... I expect Kurt Angle, Jeff Jarrett, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Eric Bischoff to sign next.

Bwahahahaahaha how embarassing is that, that's definitely a top 5 botch all time.
-
This wasn't the only time they've looked completely lost this season though.

Climie was light years better then Milt and Schultz, he may of had a punchable face but he at least provided some knowledge and insight during his breakdowns. Schultz reminded me of Frank Caliendo doing his impression of John Madden and making fun of how John would say such deep insights such as "The team that scores the more points just might win this game" kind of things. Milt was just super generic and even when he was on the 1290 morning show it seemed like he really had a basic knowledge of the guys playing and would just point the obvious things on the known players. It felt like he didn't really watch the league a whole lot. Burris also a punchable face was also much better then those guys. I preferred however when they had coaches like LaPolice, Benevides , Barker on they were much more neutral and informative.
