It's time to hand the ball to Streveler.
Brandon replied to White Out's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I did not listen to Irving after the game, did he have someone else with him like Doug Brown? Usually Doug or back in the day Mitch would call it as it is while Irving would be neutral. I don't blame Irving for not jumping on the bandwagon, CJOB desperately needs the Bombers and it would be awkward if he shitted on the team and then have to deal with O'Shea afterwards. I think Irving still has the bad memories of trying to run a show with an un-cooperative coach (Kelly). I don't fault Irving for defending the team. Nichols falling two yards short of the first down, I don't blame Matt at all. The guy is fragile and I'd rather him take the quick slide then trying to muscle it in only to get hurt. Streveler is a bull, Nichols is a porcelain doll. Made sense to me. Also Bull crap on Lapo not calling mid range plays.... watch the game receivers are running mid range routes... it's just that if the first read isn't open, Nichols gets instantly scared and checks down or turtles up. When Streveler played last season he found guys mid range all day long. His mechanics may be off and throws may have more risk but he was able to rifle it down 15 yards with no problems. Next week *should* be a free week for tinkering around and trying new things against BC. Can't keep doing the same it isn't working. -

The hand full of people with Nichols glasses keep saying it's LaPo's designed offense.... the last time I saw a QB who lived on dink and dunk was Ricky Ray and he didn't have troubles distributing the ball and passing for over 200 yards. -
Are you speaking (posting) to a mirror? Because you come off having absolutely no clue IMO. So if they wanted 4 legitimate options and wanting to kill the clock.... why didn't they put in Streveler to kill the clock against Toronto? After 29 yards passing in the 2nd half it wasn't like Nichols was moving the ball.

No way in H-E-DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS is Nichols worth anywhere near that much money. If they win a Grey Cup then pay raises/money needs to go to guys like Jefferson, Sayles, Wilson, Rose who are keeping this team competing. If you are going to pay $700 000 why the F would you spend it on Nichols when you could of spend it on Harris , Mitchell or Reilly??

I like Demski as a receiver... not so much as a rb... Augustine is slick and I hope he can get more carries in the future in a game where we have a massive lead.

At this point I'll take Streveler and his "potential" complete with the mistakes over Matt and his inability to play 4 solid quarters. -
Going over his games with Passing yards stats .... 2019 - 0 - 300+ 3 - 250 - 300 1 - 200 - 250 4 - less then 200 2018 - 1 - 300+ 5 - 250 - 300 2 - 200 - 250 8 - less then 200 2017 - 7 - 300+ 5 - 250 - 300 3 - 200 - 250 3 - less then 200 2016 - 6 - 300+ 2 - 250 - 300 6 - 200 - 250 1 - less then 200 In comparison... Fajardo has 3 - 300 games this season already. Drew Willy had 3 - 300 games in his last season with us..... The trend for Nichols is not good at all.

LOl at 17 trying his best to stomp out the fires around Nichols. He was craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap tonight. First half time of possession was nearly even, the punt return excuse is BS because Calgary had several 2 and outs in the first quarter. Only 10 passes caught by receivers is ridiculous. If not for the punt returns we lose that game and a rookie qb out shines a 9 year vet. Going forward if we lose Harris to injury then the season is over and we are faaaaaaaaccccked. -
We mentioned this a few weeks ago on this board.... I have not seen or heard a single ad for the football game at all. I only listen to 1290 so I can't speak for 680, but you would think they would of had some more promotions on a sports radio station.

I'm throwing Jefferson in the top three tonight.... the guy disrupts the line big time

Honestly I'd rather they trade Nichols and a 1st rounder to BC for Reilly and then cut Reilly at the end of the season. Make one push for the grey cup and move on with Strev and McGuire next season. More likely scenarios though... Keep Nichols as starter and ride him for the season... Give Nichols two more starts and if the output is the same ... game three they start Streveler. Tandem the QB's giving them split time.... doubt that they will do this though. -
I only managed to watch half of the game (thanks MTS) what I saw was Jefferson in complete beast mode. The guy is only on a 1 year contract... a must re-sign ASAP. I think people are a bit to harsh on Bighill, I'm not sure which player it was but on Calgarys first touchdown someone else completely whiffed on a tackle that gave them the extra 30 yards on that big play. I'm not really worried about anyone on our D at this point. Nichols started out fine, made quick reads and hit Matthews , Lawler and Wolly for 10 + yard gains and they were tight spirals. After that though.... ummm looked absolutely blah. I agree with whoever said he was playing to keep his stats intact. A huge move for coaching to put Strev in at the end.... could this be the beginning of the end for Nichols? I guarantee Nichols will be having a pouting temper tantrum cuz of that. Maybe it will light a fire under his ass? Harris won't last the season with his current work load... they need to start spreading it out and getting first downs from other players. Why the hell is Whitehead not more involved? He ran those Mike Kelly special jet sweeps so damn effective early on and they haven't gone back to him?

My bloody PVR facked up and half of the game was scrambled (thanks MTS). From what I did see ... Nichols did go intermediate a few times in the first half with great success. First read quick tosses to Wolly , Lawler and Matthews. It worked beautifully. After that I saw a continuous checkdown to Harris. Even Suitor mentioned it. I don't know how LaPo can be blamed completely for this all of the time. He's not calling 3 yard checkdowns to Harris all night long is he?

I won't fault Walters, he's brought in A+ Free Agents , drafted well and has recruited some really good imports. I definitely would lock him up. O'Shea is frustrating because of his poker face and outsiders having zero reads on what he really thinks/feels about the way his players really are playing. On the other hand we have heard numerous positive reviews about the culture and the respect the players have for him. I'd consider him untouchable as well. Coordinators this is where it's a bit dicey. We definitely could use a fresh set of eyes on the defense. I'd have no problems if they moved into a different direction as we have so much talent on our d that on talent alone we will get by. On offense I'm not completely on the blame LaPo bandwagon like a few others. I'd like to see this offense being ran by someone decent like Harris or even Reilly. If we move on I also don't think it's the end of the world because unless you get a wacko like Kelly, anyone should be able to do decently with all the talent that we have.

Had tickets been priced at a normal price then yes it would of sold out.

It's been done many times before for other events around the world.

Riders are getting lucky with facing teams with the injury bug

Ticket count is at around 8000 with 15 days left....

Pregame talk: Patriots North come to town

This team top to bottom struggles mightily on making any sort of mid game adjustments. -
Thank goodness, at least people in the area can breathe easy now.

I think he and Glenn have/had different issues. With Glenn if he was hit a few times early he then held onto the ball to long and his quick hitter game would be gone for a quarter or two. He would turtle up. With Nichols it seems like when things don't go his way he just unravels and either will make a crap throw into well covered receivers or he holds onto the ball to long and then makes a crap throw for minimal gain. When things are working for Nichols then he tends to be able to make more then one read and throw it down the field. Both guys completely sucked when it came to being mentally tough.
