  1. The people have spoken , may this cornball idea rest ..... in....piece (Undertaker voice) Also JCon your comment above is major sour grapes, Browaty would steamroll Bowman if he had ran. The guy is genuine and unlike Bowman he actually gives a crap about the city instead of putting his own image first. Souuuuuuuuuuuuuuur grapes.
  2. Considering we almost won with Ryan Dinwiddie..... I think this team is in a ok position with Nichols.
  3. The test wouldn't be expensive, Bowman has spent millions on studies (without him wanting to publish the results because they were all pro No). Monday it took me 5 minutes to clear downtown and then yesterday 30 minutes both days with no accidents, street work or stalls... if I have to now wait 45 minutes to get home it puts a lot stress when you are a family man needing to pick up kids from day care and then going home and getting dinner ready and then taking the kids out to their activities. My free time is extremely limited and valuable and it's a real piss off waiting in traffic for absolutely no good reason when if the city was smart they could have a proper traffic flow to get people in and out in 5 minutes. You may one day understand if you ever decide to have children and a family because back in the day when it was just me I wouldn't of cared because I had all the time in the world to do whatever I needed to do. I don't think it's just me because the other people in the office with younger children are all constantly on the go trying to keep up with life.
  4. I strongly believe that Downtown Biz and the companies involved at the intersection had a lot to do with setting up Team Open. Almost 100% positive that they were involved. 54 seconds in light traffic... no numbers or real estimates for rush hour naturally. What they should of done (if possible) was to set up the traffic lights at P & M to run at what it would be if the intersection was open for pedestrians. Take a two week sample and with that they can get real numbers on how traffic would be effected. I'm assuming that the intersection wouldn't be running the push button to activate walk sign kind of deal and that it would run on an automatic schedule. Then both sides couldn't make up numbers and with the real data they could analyze.
  5. They push it down our throats ... when we bought our last house the bank and the real estate agents were pushing hard for us to spend the maximum amount that we could. They looked at like we were crazy because I wanted to spend closer to $400 000 rather then $700 000. Same thing when we bought furniture they kept pushing credit cards and buying max amounts. Same with the cars.... A more naïve or weaker person would easily cave in because all you have to do is say yes and boom you can get something that is out of your real price range. The bank was the worst... they kept bringing up that me and my wife had a decent sum of money stashed in our bank account and that we *must* put it towards buying a more expensive house. They said rarely does anyone have anything in savings and that we could get even more of a house if we used our savings and then made minimum monthly payments on the mortgage. My response was that we like having money in the bank in case of emergencies and that we want to save for our kids educations... they made it seem like we were crazy because that's what a line of credit is for. Such a f'd up mindset that is pushed on people....
  6. I know many people between 20 - 40 who merely feel entitled to going on vacations and overspending on big houses because they believe that it's impossible to not have the biggest and the best.... I also see some of the folks closer to 40 and co-signing on loans for their 18 year old kids on 50 000 dollar cars despite working minimum wage jobs...
  7. What is the deal with the massive slump by Ehlers? I haven't been watching to much this season... is the guy snake bit or has his play really been that bad?
  8. FYI you also look like a homeless bum based on some of those PCWAction youtube videos. That is all
  9. Gt is quite popular with the locals.
  10. I'm perfectly fine downtown because I look like a homeless bum.... my wife on the other hand has troubles even during lunch hour walking downtown with her female co workers where they are harassed and at times intimidated. I wouldn't want to take my children downtown during the weekend or after 5 pm, I actually do care about their well being. I wouldn't call Winnipeg folks frugal, I was more so referencing so many other entertainment options with arts, family friendly facilities, plethora of restaurants, unique experiences, PCW wrestling shows etc... It's hard to take a piece of the pie when their is so much pie to go around.
  11. I would assume WHL would attract more of the hockey die hards while Moose would be the family crowds...
  12. Appleton he was fringe making the club this season
  13. To many options for entertainment in Winnipeg... the Moose tickets are dirt cheap and most people I would assume would like to see the young guns in the AHL. The only way I think that they may have an edge on the Moose would be that some folks don't like taking their family downtown and would rather go somewhere a bit more safe. Kind of a stretch though IMO.
  14. Warmer climates tend to get more snow since the temperature hovers around the 0 mark. I wouldn't doubt that they would get more snow.
  15. My buddy in Minneapolis says the Winters are much warmer less of a windchill. Still nothing fantastic compared to places down South but much less painful. A funny note though, most professionals and mid to upper class live in the Burbs. Downtown Minneapolis is kind of a crap hole and it's not like that place is a prime example of a city with a dense population downtown....
  16. Minneapolis is far warmer in winter then us.
  17. So can someone else verify if they held alot? Regardless it is funny that Saskatchewan had to play nearly the full season before having one good game on offense.
  18. Dr Seuss was not a real doctor..... and now I'll go show myself out for being a buzz kill 😕
  19. It goes back to my shout louder to try to prove that your argument is correct. I'm more of a guy who takes interest in discussions that have a bit of common sense with them. Common sense would dictate that most people would not find it normal to drive 30 minutes when with synchronized lights and proper traffic flow the same stretch can be done in 5 minutes.
  20. Lol keep trying Nate that was a pitiful retort. TUP - Totally agree... unfortunately as a blue collar town with where most young educated professionals who move away for greener pastures and the ones who do stay usually stay because of families and cheaper housing... I don't see a large community of people who would want to live downtown. Perhaps they could attract a lot of immigrants to stay downtown but I'm not sure if that would really bring up the area. WIth our crap climate also it doesn't help. I think it's almost a no-win battle. With the massive amount of condos being build around the city I don't see seniors wanting to move either.
  21. I don't think people will die and that's a stretch. I look at it realistically. People won't get hit by cars , however it will 100% slow down traffic flow and for me that alone is enough reason to leave it. They can build some patios bit it won't make a difference people still won't come downtown. Most downtown eateries near the arena only get business at night during events at the mts center. To many people are dreamers opening it won't draw anyone downtown and it also won't kill anyone. It will slow traffic and make it convenient for a few folks during lunch break trying to cross. The meth crisis, panhandling epidemic, urban sprawl , water quality issues are a million times more important then this.
  22. I want Dressler to stay with us so that he can retire in Blue and Gold purely to sadden Rider fans.
  23. I assumed it didn't happen because after 1 year Portage Place was deemed a colossal failure. Those youtube videos that showed the day it opened and then the one year follow up really tell the story of how the idea really wasn't the true solution to fix downtown. Now so many years later with so many other shopping and dining options it really would be impossible for Portage Place at this point to becoming a destination. Regardless the ads and the Open propaganda is so far fetched that it makes it difficult to take them seriously. Bowman can't be taken seriously at all since whenever anyone confronts him he resorts to dirty tactics and misdirection so it's hard to believe him. Perhaps the idea of opening the intersection can be revisited when the city has proper leadership and a clue on how to do it the right way.
  24. My own study ! Did you know at one time their was a study that made it seem like Portage Place was rejuvenate the downtown area... can't believe everything you read!
