  1. After him even considering for the league to go 4 downs... I'm amazed we didn't run him out with pitch forks. Wade Miller would be the best choice IMO. Pinball has dirt on his hands after the latest drama.
  2. I finally watched the game... I don't think I've ever seen a Blue Bomber game where the d-line had such little to absolutely no pressure on the QB. Willie was double teamed all night, outside of the one Garbutt sack I can't think of any play where any one hurried Fajardo/Alexander or had a hand in his face or anything. That is not going to cut it come play off time. Very concerning. The whole game I was waiting for someone to do something or to make a play or cause some sort of disruption. Outside of the first series with the BS non interception call... that D did absolutely nothing at all. Fajardo after the first 2 series went what 16/17 and Alexander was 9/10 at one point.... yikes. Glad we won but this is the weakest team that we've entered the play offs in during our latest run.
  3. Somebody has to wake up the old folks who are living in the past and thinking that the game is the same as back then. It's embarrassing for them to live in such delusions. It is more fun to watch old hockey and football because of the high scoring and far larger margin of blown coverage and misses. It's just hilarious to me that people are so simple that they think that the players of yester-year could compete in todays game. Stop embarrassing yourself, it's sad. Join this conversation once you watch some 1980's hockey. You clearly have not.
  4. Lol you are crazy. You clearly have not watched the NHL from the 80's. You are saying that the play of NHL goalies in the 80's is superior to the god awful goaltending in the current NHL? Seriously that is even loonier then the worst of Riderfans.com.
  5. But he didn't and he played against inferior talent. That's my point it is harder these days to put up those gaudy numbers and when a guy like Kelly is putting up better then Flutie numbers that is a huge accomplishment and *IF* he continues at this pace then Kelly surely would be a HOF'er. I don't think he will but if he does then I'd have zero issues of him being in the HOF and considered greater then Flutie.
  6. Name 5 other CFL qbs from the 90's that had significant careers in the NFL? If we were able to time warp current QB's with their current knowledge and athletic abilities and training back to the mid 90's then yes I think a large amount of them would of excelled in the CFL back then. Some may have even excelled in the NFL, heck Strelever , Rourke, MBT, all had time in the NFL and all three of them are current CFL back ups. I don't think Doug Flutie from 1996 tossing shovel passes would do well at all in the current CFL. Prime Flutie wouldn't get a sniff in the current NFL also. Different eras, Flutie played in a time where the CFL had a far lower level of talent/athletes. Current CFL is light years ahead in quality of talent and athletes so it is so much harder these days to put up big numbers on a consistent basis.
  7. You really think that if we could create a time machine and teleport 1980's Gretzky to play today in the NHL 2024 that he would score 200 points? Are you out of your mind? Before you embarrass yourself any further... go watch some 1980's hockey. Watch how unstructured it was and how hilariously bad the goalies were back in the day. They were like slipping on banana peels and starfishing around and flailing out of place. If we could play magical time teleportation, the current 2024 Oilers would not lose a game and McDavid would have 300+ points if they were teleported back to 1984. The 1984 Oilers being time warped to 2024 NHL would be the last place team and would probably set the record for worst record ever. The skating alone would be insanely night and day different. It doesn't mean Gretzky sucked or anything, he just dominated during a different era. Your comment is as silly as saying if Babe Ruth were to be playing with the Yankees today that he would belt 50 homers and pitch 20 complete games with a miniscule ERA.
  8. I just noticed the sign says "illions" that is funny!
  9. Then I would say you are an old man living in the past and being unrealistic. 95% of the players and all of the qbs could play? So Bomber qbs like Sammy Garza and Tom Porras could play in modern day CFL? The level of athlete, the significantly advanced training , the coaching, the analytics, the amount of people playing.... everything factors in why today's game is so far ahead of the game from 30 years ago. I'll say it again... the Matt Dunnigan 700+ yards team vs our current team would get absolutely **** kicked. It doesn't mean that those guys in the past were terrible players or jobbers.. it just means that in todays game it so much more difficult to put up the gaudy numbers so when a guy does have a 20 - 5 record and a higher QB rating then Doug Flutie. This is a very impressive feat and very hard for someone to do. I guess you forgot about Mike Kelly being our head coach and running and offense that was "popular" 10 years prior to it. Look at how badly it worked and how badly outcoached he was. Modern football is so far ahead of old timey football that it's not even really fair to compare because of how basic it was. Flutie played at a time where the shovel pass was so modern and unstoppable which is hilarious when you go back and watch. Dunigan and others simply tossed long bombs and since the defenses were so basic it was basically a 1 on 1 battle between receiver and defender each time. A modern defense would eat all of that up massively. The players move significantly faster and have so much better techniques. I once again will bring up 80's NHL. The reason why you don't have a player getting 200 points or a dozen guys getting 50+ goals is because the level of talent these days in the NHL is so far ahead that the gap between the elite players and the weakest players is so much smaller then how it was back in the 80's. It is so hard to be dominant in almost any sport these days. The same applies with the CFL, the talent level in our league right now is really really high. So high that people keep thinking that the league can't find "star QB's" when in fact the issue is that the other players on the field are just so much better then the old days.
  10. It appears that I was incorrect and was mixed up with when 5 Guys was being build by Garden City. The new Arby's location is apparently being constructed in the seasons of Tuxedo! As if that area doesn't already have a million restaurants already.
  11. I'm very much facts over "emotions" when it comes to judging talent. It's not , I'm merely pointing out that several people on here have blue-tinted glasses and can't admit when a player they dislike is really good. It's very "riderfans" like. "Chad Kelly is a sex pest derp derp derp he sucks". That kind of circle-yanking is verrrrry Rider fans like. Kelly is probably a complete d-bag off the field and anyone can say that, but you can't say he isn't elite on the field based on his current results. A qb could be a great player on the field and a complete sexual predator off the field... see my example of Warren Moon. As I said before... he is ON PACE... and I clearly said that it could go all downhill. But until then he's on pace for a HOF career. His sample size is large enough to make that statement. How boring would these boards be if nobody plays devils advocate?
  12. I believe near Garden City mall that a new Arby's is under construction. I'd assume it's near completion since it's seemed like they started work on it nearly a year ago.
  13. From what I understood on here Chad Kelly's win-loss record doesn't count... but Flutie is an all time great because his win-loss record is allowed to be considered. So they focus on the personal stats... Last season Chad Kelly's QB rating was higher then any season that Doug Flutie had in the CFL. This year Chad's rating of 98.2 would rank almost the same as Flutie's 3rd best season. Kelly has a much better completion % and yards per attempt. The TD/int ratio is nearly the same between them both. Kelly is playing at a time where it is far more difficult to put up big numbers because the level of play is so much greater these days then back then. So once again.... how can anyone dispute that Kelly is playing at a HOF level at this point. Only an ignorant fan would suggest that he is not.
  14. Not sure, but the moment he was replaced with an elite QB the team won back to back Grey Cups. Watch those old games and see just how inferior the talent was compared to the current product. I love Matt Dunigan and will always hold him in high regards. I watched his 700 yard game.... it was comical in how bad the D was that game. This was an era where the difference in top talent and lower talent was an enormous gap. Our Bombers 2024 team would absolutely **** kick that Bombers team the night he tossed for 700 yards. The level of talent in the league these days is so much higher which is why the league has far more parity and why it is so hard for QB's to have gaudy numbers in present time. It is similar to the NHL where a regular ham and egger would pot 50 goals easily because back in the 80's the game was so far behind then what it is currently. It's super comical to watch games from that era and watching goalies fly around and sprawling everywhere and looking absolutely hilarious and amateur compared to what you see in present day. It's an apples and oranges comparison trying to compare players from different eras but because talent across the board is so much higher nowdays it is far more impressive to have a 20 - 5 record in present day.
  15. Doug Flutie, the greatest CFL player ever, was 20-4 in his first 24 starts in Toronto. Kelly is now 20-5. Which CFL qbs in the last 5 years have put up a record like this? Flutie also played during an era where the level of talent in the CFL was significantly lower. If it was all about yards TD's and INT's then I guess Bo Levi Mitchell is the best QB this season despite his mediocre record? Same with MBT? I'd say a guy with a huge winning % and a Grey Cup ring in only two seasons is off to a great start and ON pace for a HOF career. You can't deny it. If he drops off in the next few years then yes at that point he wouldn't be on pace for a HOF career.
  16. Why not? Kelly is on pace for a hall of fame career based on his early success. Warren Moon is revered as a CFL great despite him being an actual sex pest.
  17. I was thinking more along the line that in that area they already have Nuburger, Five Guys, Fatburger, Wayback Burger, George's Burgers, The Burger Factory, Sals, A & W, McDonalds, Burger King, Dairy Queen, and the Wendys on Plessis.
  18. I wonder how they will do, that area is heavily saturated with fast food burger joints.
  19. Manitoba has the 2nd highest rate in Canada for shop lifting, and as I pointed out before the overall crime has skyrocketed. Did you know in much larger provinces such as Quebec that shop lifting has decreased? This isn't happening in "many" places and in Manitoba it is almost at the top for being the worst.
  20. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/police-superstore-special-theft-1.7349223 Insane how bad things are getting in Winnipeg these days. What sucks is eventually those costs are pushed onto the honest people like ourselves who pay for products.
  21. TPB ended in 2018, it was on Netflix for 5 - 6 seasons. It grew a cult following (a 2nd time) from all the new viewers from the States. They even had Snoop for a few episodes which was super funny.
  22. I'm really curious on what they do next season at QB... I wonder if a team would be willing to trade for Rourke? Maybe Ottawa?
  23. Ugh my wife will be happy watching the same movie 41 different times.....
  24. I didn't say anyone called him that, I said that they made him out to be like one and one person said how he left town wasn't good. The truth is the guy would have 1 really good game and then 4 games where he would disappear and do nothing. He had 2 mediocre seasons in a row once we had a real QB and recruited talented receivers. It made 100% sense why the team would move on from a guy like that. This is exactly the same as Rasheed Bailey... the guy wasn't consistent enough. Darvin lasted one season after leaving us and then disappeared... Bailey lasted only a few weeks in Toronto and can't even crack the Redblacks roster over the last month. These kind of guys are "over rated" on this board.
