Do you think Jets will make any trades now?
Brandon replied to Brandon's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
I doubt they would send up a young gun, Chevy will only make a deal if it makes sense. He talked about this on the radio the other day, pretty much said he wouldn't dump key guys leaving a hole just to fill a different hole. He made it pretty darn clear that a trade would only be if we got rid of depth / prospects in exchange for someone who can fill the void. Considering we got Harrison for a bag of peanuts I would assume the Jets make a similar trade for the 3rd / 4th line... -
The thing is Pav gives up big rebounds and is flying around the net which at times gives the illusion of him making big saves. Hutch isn't flashy but because of his style he limits the amount of scoring opportunities. If Pav has better puck control and didn't flop around so much he would then have much less crazy diving saves / bad out of place goals on him. Last night the Jets clearly would of won with either guy but it was a very solid outing by Hutch.

Next: Who is going to FA, who is not .... Priorities
Brandon replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
No way we sink money into another receiver. We needed to make a big splash last off season to prove to players/agents we would spend money. We tried going after Butler but lost out, Moore was an awesome consolation prize who tragically ended up being injured most of the season. We're going to go hard after Heenan for sure, and probably check the potential of Holmes and Bryant as well. I hope the Bombers will go hard after Ernest Jackson. From an SMS perspective he may give us the most bang for the buck. Willy can't complete passes to even the best route runners if he has no time to throw the ball. Fix the OL and CanCon first, and Moore, Denmark, Watson, and whoever else they field will be more than dangerous enough that we don't need to add a receiver. The best laid plans... Just because we want Heenan and Holmes does not mean we will get Heenan and Holmes. Even if Walters does everything right. Free agency is the rare time players have the power. There will be 9 teams interested in these guys, and maybe outside of Montreal and Calgary, they will all be offering buckets of cash. And seemingly lost on the internet, players are actually humans, not just commodities. Maybe Holmes has been anxiously waiting his rookie contract out so he can finally move home to Ottawa and be closer to his sick grandmother or something like that. Maybe Heenan is sick of the prairies after living here his whole life and doesn't want to move just one province over, maybe he wants to live in Vancouver and spend his winters skiing, cause why not do it while he's young, these opportunities come around once or twice in a lifetime? Free agency isn't just an auction with players going to the highest bidder. So anyways, say we set aside approx half a million just to go after those guys and land neither, then what? Have a money bonfire? Sign Hurl for $400,000 just because he's a NI who kinda sorta could start, or if nothing else has totally bitchin hair? Of course plan A and B should be chasing after NI Olinemen, but if plan A and B don't work out through no fault of our own, is having a plan C that includes bringing in another premier receiver for our young QB to target such a terrible idea? I don't think it is. And the notion that we can't bring in a top grade receiver AND a guy like Heenan is nonsense. Josh Bourke isn't making chicken feed in Montreal, or Perrette and the rest of that Oline, and Popp said they offered SJ Green enough money to make him the highest non-QB player in the league. There is room in the salary cap to afford lots of talented players on the same team. Why do people keep forgetting that we have signed a big time receiver on a big contract and that signing two big time contracts at receiver seems far fetched when the o line sucks? -
No one works for CBC anymore all sportsnet crews no matter what station Well it was better then Bob Cole is what I was trying to say =\ Beyak and Hnidy / Engblom are way way better to listen to.

Shutout for Hutch 29 saves showed great puck control and great positioning , he definitely is the real deal! Sportsnet on the other hand is so tacky with so much inane pointless chatter , they at least are not cry babies like the CBC crew but yeesh they sure go on and on about pointless tidbits.

What about hats or octopus ?

Assuming everyone stays healthy.. Do you think the Jets make a splash? I was listening to Lawless yesterday and he says the only *name* he heard was O'Reilly in Colorado and even that was a big long shot. Who do you think the team would part with?? Do you think they would deal Kane, Pavs or even a top prospect like Petan?
-
Why were they banned for doing this?
-
Considering sports writers made a top ten over rated player list and Pavs was number one on the list.... Considering the coach is splitting duties with a rookie and actually starting him more then Pavs.... As I said Pavs is a good back up that is making to much.

How do you know? I'd bet we can.We could but at the expense of going after Heenan or Holmes? Walters won't blow that much money on import receivers. You don't know this. The way Walters has been talking, I suspect he has the funds and cap space for 2-3 big FA splashes. There's no way both Heenan and Dressler could ever play on the same team. It's unpossible. While paying a boat load to Moore and a decent penny for Denmark...all while having holes in other key positions

Lol agree to disagree... I will side with most other people in saying Pavs shouldn't be the short or long term solution for the club.

Peluso will see extra ice time that night!

Brohm has such a small sample size.. No other team will be lining up to get him yet -
Drew Tate signs extension with Stampeders

Tate is injury prone... He is good veteran insurance for the Stamps and a good fill in for any other team -
Lol the photo evidence completely showed how out of place Pavs was on the third goal... Thanks for making my point! Thankfully he showed up during the shootouts!

Two softies?!?! What game were you watching? The first goal he was being screened by 5 players standing within 2 feet of the crease and the second and third goals were deflected by players standing right in front of him. If you consider those soft goals I can't see how any goalie could ever meet your standards. The last two goals he was out of position... Pavs seems like a fish out of water flopping around. They were definitely not great goals that he let in, my standards are not that high but considering a rookie has been out playing him this season and a career backup out played him last season...... I don't think highly of him. He's a very expensive back up goalie these days.

They played very well until the last 10 minutes when they simply checked out... for some reason they didn't seem to want to clear the puck out of the zone and ended up with way to many turnovers on cute passes. It didn't help that Pavelec let in two softies. It also didn't help that the refs seem to hate us today... some fringe calls, weak icing call on Kane near the end of the game.... misses calls on our guys.... refs did not like us today.

I am saying that he looks disengaged because the last two years he was driving hard for the puck and was actually able to take it to the net and do something.... this year it seems to be so easy for the opponents to strip the puck from him and he gives up on a lot of plays.... he has the points (mainly assists) but I think that it's a result of the other two guys on his line playing lights out. He's not under achieving like Kane but to me it seems like he was better the last few seasons...

Man I hope Perreault isn't to hurt. Solid game and thankfully they held on despite being exhausted at the end. I said this before... is it me or does Wheeler either look like he's playing hurt or just seems totally disengaged this season?
