  1. "We don't want Augustine, the guy gets stuffed at the line and only has one big running play per game" - MorningBigBlue.com member in early 2021.
  2. On the field definitely, as a head coach not at all. In the NFL I don't think it really plays much into a factor, everything is about either winning or making money. They'll put whoever in charge that will follow that path. At that high of a level they are not going to pick a white dude purely because of his skin, the stakes are far to high for something like that. In the CFL most definitely it does not play a factor, former players make the best coaches because they know the CFL game which is a trait that barely any north american coaches have. On an amateur level/recreational level I assume the largest reason why it's predominately white men coaching is because in the States they have an insane number where 67% of black children are born into a single parent household. On top of that the black population makes up only like 13% of the total population in the States. Add in the poverty factor and it really gives the picture of why it's mostly white coaches in most ranks. Factor in other culture differences (how many Asian coaches or even players play football?) and you have your answer why it's predominately white coaches. The NFL doing the mandatory interviews may of had good intentions but doing that never will fix "the issue". Most teams have a guy they want to hire and by forcing them to do these pity interviews, it only misleads and provides a false sense of hope or in this case with Flores entitlement. Lets make up a scenario, say the Bombers decide to fire every coach for whatever reason right at this minute. Do you think a team like Ottawa would really need to interview both Richie Hall and Mike O'Shea to determine who would be a better guy to coach the Redblacks? Clearly O'Shea would be the #1 guy they would want and why should they mislead Hall who may have other opportunities either as a HC or as a coordinator when he would basically have no shot at winning the job.
  3. You said that they were not given the same opportunities, I pointed out the guy was given the opportunity to coach in the NFL.
  4. You don't consider that an opportunity?
  5. I don't see how a wider field impacts his ability to kick a ball straight through the up rights? The guy had zero accuracy.
  6. Brian Flores was the head coach of the Dolphins for the last 3 years.
  7. Watch him sign a 1 day contract with the Blue Bombers to retire as a Bomber
  8. I'm hoping Bailey continues to progress, if he can play consistent then it might be a huge signing. Otherwise if his emotions gets the best of him and he plays streaky or makes boneheaded emotional decisions on the field (i.e. penalties/drops) then I am curious if the people on this site who praise his emotional as a good thing will turn on him and say he's a liability because he can't remain cool and calm. Good signing but we still need to get a #1 receiver going into this season (preferably Lawler).
  9. Maybe Ottawa bids up Masoli and then waits until Arbuckle is dropped and then scoop him up?
  10. Until he has shown that he can play in the CFL it's not a big deal at all. Also if they sign Lawler that guy will be used on returns and will barely see the field otherwise.
  11. So I guess this guy doesn't want to coach again in the NFL and is hoping for a big pay out from the league?
  12. Rose is another prime example of a guy wanting to stay in Winnipeg I'll be very curious if we compete in free agency for any players if any of them will sign with us for lesser money because of our reputation.
  13. Davis is an elite player, I don't blame the Argos throwing big money at him.
  14. All I am reading here is that Walters has done an amazing job. We are in really good shape even before free agency starts!
  15. Wasn't Reilly playing extremely injured for the first half of the season and he still managed to produce. Reilly would be the absolute last reason I'd point any fingers towards BC Lions issues. They had absolutely no running game and I pity Rourke or whoever steps in and having to deal with the non stop blitz against them if they continue to run that same offense. They will need a guy who is extremely mobile and who can run for his life in at QB.
  16. I don't see the big deal about BC Lions owner having big money.... doesn't every team still need to fit under a salary cap? If you are going to blow the cap why would you waste it on a guy who would assumingly be the #3 receiver on your team after Burnham and Whitehead? Makes no sense either way.
  17. LOL at BC spending all that big money on receiver. Did they not remember how they had zero running game last season and a terrible o-line. Good on Lawler if he gets that money but dear lord as a Lions fan I'd be questioning why they would make a guy the highest paid receiver in the league after signing Whitehead to a monster contract and already having Burnham on a new deal that was a decent discount.
  18. I see Banks going to Montreal or Ottawa before going to BC or the Elks.
  19. Seriously is this a joke that I'm not understanding?
  20. Watch him sign both and the follow up of Rider fans flipping out
  21. What if he was 6'1 and 3/4" then would you not be skeptical?
  22. I wonder if BC makes a play for Harris now?
  23. Any chance that Harris comes back in more of a Demski role in which he has limited carries and spends time at receiver in certain packages? Maybe extends his career a few seasons rather then being the featured back which would be more punishing to his body?
  24. Jeeze I was joking about Jones wanting to bring back Carter.... this is just sad. So they are going to over pay for a locker room cancer rather then recruit someone who could be a long term solution and who would come in a much cheaper price.
  25. People need to find something to complain about I guess?
