  1. But if the american talent would increase interest that much(like the owners are claiming) then why didn't we see interest in the XFL 2.0 or the USFL now etc etc. Other leagues have come and gone that had guys who were 1 or 2 steps down from the NFL.
  2. I want to believe you are right. But I just don't see it happening. That money would get eaten up by other positional players not QB's who many already think are paid handsomely.
  3. I'm not sure I believe that would happen with or without a ratio though. The CFL won't see the best talent until they pay significantly more. And that can happen, there are plenty of leagues all around the world that are not the best of the best, but still draw loads of interest. The CFL has work to do and they just don't seem to want to do it. Quick fixes will kill the CFL.
  4. You didn't. But the league has (According to Dave Naylor sooo..take that for what you will). They want the reduced ratio because they believe it will increase fan interest. Everything else that you wrote above I completely agree with. And that's why I've been saying the CFL needs to invest in grass roots football in this country (they have started but more needs to be done). And they need to focus on the image of the CFL rather than the product on the field. People who don't like the product won't all of a sudden like it because there is 1 less canadian., or because the rouge is gone or it's a 15 yrd penalty for no yards etc etc etc. That just doesn't make any sense.
  5. I'm not convinced that would bring in a significant amount of fans like the league is suggesting it would though, even a total elimination of the ratio. Like I said, fans who want a better on field product want an NFL level product. And ratio or not, that won't happen without NFL money. As it stands now, it sounds like the league is offering the 6-1 deal as a take it or leave it. Naylor was asked why the league wants that reduction in ratio, and his answer was they believe it will increase the level of play. Like I said 1 player isn't going to move the dial at all. And it's again more proof that the league doesn't understand it's own market and seems to only want to become NFL light.
  6. If that was really the case, they would have already. Investors don't hold on to investments just cause. Again, you're using what you've read in the media and assuming it's the truth. Real life is very much different. The owners want a profit. All of them. The league is going to ask for 1 player reduction Booch. 1 player isn't going to bring in more fans. 1 player isn't going to make any QB's play better or any WR's make better catches etc etc etc. If the league wants better players. They need better pay. The league thinks the casual fans want better overall play. But what the casual fans actually want is NFL level of play and that's just never going to happen. The issue with the league is not the ratio or the rules. It's the image and revenue. The ratio BS doesn't solve either of those things.
  7. We will have to agree to disagree. I don't think the players asking for more is a problem. You can say the leverage is in favour of the league, but there are 2 leagues down south that could very much benefit form an influx of CFL players. The owners just as much as the players, can not afford a strike. The players have somewhere else to go. The owners dont. Naylor reporting the league wants to reduce the ratio because they believe it will increase the level of play. Which is just an absolutely ridiculous thing to say.
  8. The reduction in ratio couldn't have been the only issue though. American players have come out and said they also voted no. Unless I suppose they also wanted the ratio to be left as it was. But I have a hard time buying that. Too much of what? I agree on the PA mishandling the voting aspect. But without the details none of us can actually say what the players want is dumb, because we don't actually know. And pretending like the league is some how being upfront with the fans on the negotiations is ridiculous. The league will always blame the players for no deal getting done.
  9. You're the one making claims. Calling people stupid. etc etc. You must know what they want
  10. What kind of better deal are they looking for?
  11. pretending like you've read either offer is funny.
  12. He's got an interesting thread going. Particularly the part about american coaches.
  13. oh for sure it was likely a few things going on that made this move possible. I think guys like Jackson, Grant, and that new rookie gave the coaches an easy decision.
  14. I have a feeling he wasn't giving the coaches what they wanted to see in terms of effort. Apparently he sat out yesterdays practice...no injury...? The FIFO mantra is very important to MOS and I'm guessing Saunders just didn't fit in.
  15. Yeah not surprising from the few reports I've seen. Good luck to him, hope he can catch on somewhere.
  16. I bet a quick post on twitter tagging some players here like Biggie or Willie or Demski etc etc might be able to get the school some better looking footballs.
  17. Yeah I'm sorry anyone who thinks a Junior player, a Running back no less, would have had a legit shot to compete for the starting job is just being dishonest at best.
  18. The CFL is not the only league in the world with this type of rule. There are some football(soccer) leagues with similar rules in place. And that's bogus that the ratio doesn't make the game unique...it completely changes how coaches/scouts/management do every part of their job. Specifically coaching and making a game day roster. It's absurd to say different. And again Grass roots isn't shrinking(though I believe it actually is slowly) because of the great Canadians of the past. Gretzky alone changed everything. No Canadian stars = less interest from Canadian kids. You're right, grassroots does so well because of how Canadian hockey was seen in the past. Canadians had a real chance at being stars because that's who they saw on TV and the support was there in terms of coaching/training etc etc etc. Less Canadians playing football in the CFL means that will absolutely impact the way kids see the Canadian game. lol The government said they would, as soon as the CFL opened the books and proved they needed the help. They wouldn't do that.
  19. That's a bullshit comparison. The NHL has never been in a position where it was in only canada and had the potential to employ only americans. There can't really be any comparisons to the CFL because of these unique rules. Grass roots hockey does fine because of the focus and energy that was put on Canadian players long long ago. If there were little or no Canadian hockey stars, do you think it'd still be as popular as it is today? specifically the ratio
  20. No it's 6 and 1 I'm fairly sure. I'm fine with them making it 6 true starters and 1 american who has aged in. The 49% bullshit was just a dumb idea from the jump. Also lets not all jump on what the media (Especially TO media) are saying. I've seen at least 2 americans say they voted no as well. This wasn't JUST about the ratio and Canadians. But even if it was. Tough ****. This is Canada. Don't like it. Leave. I'm 100% in for an all Canadian league even though I know it wouldn't be what we've come to enjoy.
  21. Dropped a couple hundred bucks at bomber store today after the futures camp. Got a Stanley Bryant home jersey on the way and new hats and shirts for the family!! Week 1 can't come soon enough!!
  22. People are really getting sour about what a former player said about his old teams city compared to his new teams city? Really?
  23. Can add Bond to that list as well. I've been trying to remember just how many OL this team has lost since 2016. At least 1 a year I believe.
  24. The club moved on from Eli in late November 2021.
