  1. It's not that we can't be, but like you said we would need the infrastructure to be built (pipelines). Venezuela does not. It's ready to go
  2. I guess it depends on who would replace him, someone with his mentality? Then yeah it won't make a difference...is his replacement someone who has a soul? then sure! But I'm going to assume that his replacement is just as much a pos as he is.
  3. Russias oil is easily replaced. The country is ready and willing, the USA just needs to lift their sanctions on it. Venezuela has more oil than russia but the USA won't touch it.
  4. Yeah I maybe should have clarified my initial comment....the Ukrainian people are certainly innocent.
  5. Without ranting too long, it's basically the two world powers (russia vs the west) fighting for strategic land to help bolster their economic power...this includes the west propping up far right wing militias to help fight russia, and russia using THAT to say all of Ukraine is infiltrated by nazis and thus justifying their invasion, in their mind. Which coincidentally also fits with their own plans for overthrowing the West as THE world power. This isn't russia vs ukraine. It's Powerful people in russia vs powerful people in the west...and of course the people of Ukraine are the ones paying the price. Rich people start wars. Poor people end them.
  6. https://readthemaple.com/the-historical-roots-of-the-ukraine-conflict/ Here's a really good article that digs into a bit of the history in the region and shows that it's far more complicated than what's being described in the media (for the most part). I thought the final sentenced summed it up nicely. "Our solidarity must be against this war and against the ruling classes who have stoked it for so long."
  7. They also have their share of right wing nuts. In 2019 they put up a monument to WW2 era Ukrainian fascists' on the spot where 1200 Jews were executed in 1943, the head of the Ukrainian Jewish committee called it a monument to killers on top of the graves of their victims. The Canadian ambassador to Ukraine was present for the ceremony as well. https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/canadian-officials-honor-nazi-collaborators-in-ukraine-angering-jewish-groups
  8. The more time I take to look into this, the more complicated it gets. I would no longer call one side or the other completely innocent....however as with all wars it will all come at the cost of working class peoples lives and homes.
  9. I've heard his actually quite afraid of covid....don't know how accurate that is
  10. Where are you seeing that it's been a complete roll over? As far as I know yhe capital is still under Ukraine control. Russia has taken airports and then lost them again.
  11. I agree with a lot of what you've said here. Particularly about the Russian military nit being fully deployed (I don't think they will be at any point, unless the fight goes to russia). I don't think surrendering to Russia would do all that much to save lives though. Certainly some, but the citizens of Ukraine have from what I understand all taken up arms, this isn't just military vs military....its military vs country. Russia does not know who is a civilian or who is a civilian with an AK. Which means come surrender time, civilians would likely be dealt with very harshly, and then after the war, how do you think they would be treated? Given food and shelter? One just needs to loom at how Russia treats Russians to know that is a hope and prayer.
  12. You said the WHL was a developmental league for the NHL correct? The bolded part up above I agree with for the most part. But that does nothing to sway an argument that the NCAA is a developmental league for the NFL. Or are you suggesting the WHL is the same speed as the NHL? If not, then you have to admit that the speed of play being slower does not determine if something is or something is not a developmental league. Most NCAA football players do not come to college ready to start. They take a year sometimes 3 to get to the level they need to be in order to start and be ready for a draft. Those 1-3 years they are developing into pro ready athletes.
  13. I am hopeful he's coming back with all the lifting restrictions. But I'd honestly be very surprised if he was.
  14. I saw a tweet quoting an article that said China was going to cut russia out as well. Which surprised the hell out of me but then my timeline auto updated and now I can't find it. Anyone see/read it? Nevermind...quick google search https://financialpost.com/pmn/business-pmn/bank-of-chinas-singapore-operation-stops-financing-russian-oil-trades-source-2
  15. How old do you think players in the NCAA are? Likewise, how old do you think players being drafted into the NFL are? You think it's relevant to compare two different sports?
  16. And THAT is terrifying.
  17. My worry is that China makes up for a lot of the sanctions that have been put on Russia.
  18. I think people are talking about 2 different "developmental" types. XFL has an agreement to be developing/testing rules, equipment etc. They are NOT a league that will developing PLAYERS specifically for the NFL. Players will develop in the xfl and likely have a good shot of getting to the NFL in the same way players develop in the CFL.
  19. I don't think it impacts it as much as fans believe it does.
  20. Ever politician is pro/anti any or everything due to how many votes it will/will not get them. No exceptions.
  21. All of his tweets covering it have now been deleted....?
  22. Yup, I personally don't have any problems with new players stating this is their intention. However, history has taught us that players who say this to the media or on social media, almost never make any kind of impact on the league. As a fan, that's a big red flag to me.
  23. I would say there is a very high likelihood of this happening.
  24. We all laugh at this, but I 100% guarantee politicians who have the power to do something like this have thought about it (in more ways than just simply taking over as well). Again it's going to be under the guise of "freedom" just like all their wars etc are. But it's about our resources. Canada HAS to be very careful moving forward. We have a lot of fresh water that the states want. And they WILL be pressing us to get it one way or another. And THIS is exactly how they get these thoughts into the zeitgeist.
