Blue Bombers - 2024 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
Bigblue204 replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Lucky hasn't taken a snap in a very long time. And has been in WPG for all of 4 days? Last time he played for WPG they had a different OC. He needs time. Rushing him in is a great way to lose another rec to injury....it's not like that's something he's struggled with his entire professional career. -
Running backs are basically the only position on the field ever refered to as being a "bell cow" type of player....that's why what you said doesn't work. LBs are not refered to like that, running backs are. Shiiit can I take you up on that offer? Lol. I'm not on the west coast but I will be later this fall

Maybe Butler and Armstrong. But Mills and Carey are not what they claim to be. Carey especially looks like he's about done. -

Demskis coming off the best season of his career. He's not a #1 guy which is why he's not being paid like one. He's being paid like he's one of the top Canadian WR. Which he is. Bailey is not demski. For whatever reason Bailey has always been overrated around these parts. I'm not a huge fan of Brady's contract. But I understand it. I also think this will likely be his largest pay day. He's not a guy is want to lose at this point in his career. So as a gm, get him back in the door and as time goes on try to claw back some of that sms by renegotiating etc. -

it's more about market value. demski is right around where he should be for the wr market. Brady is significantly more than the market. -

Yes not many...which is why Brady is so rare and deserves to paid more than others. (I'm not saying I like his contract...but I understand it) Schoen admittedly took less because other offers while more $$ didn't have the team strength. So henoc got paid? We're not talking about how good the teams were...we're talking about premium Canadians getting paid a premium amount. I know...his contract may have contributed to his crappy teams...but we're talking about whether or not star Canadians get paid more or not. And history shows they absolutely do. Harris again took discounts because he wanted to build something. At the very least, BC was willing to pay more (or at least the same) for Brady. Again, star Canadians basically across the board get paid more (maybe more than they should). -

Yeah no need to flip another spot if they went American at RB. Bringing back JA was a mistake IMO. Along with a few others that have been discussed. -

Oh I could see it being significantly more if his current play continues. Especially if CGY is in the mix.... -
I wonder if pressure just gets to him eventually...like not Dline pressure. But pressure of being the guy. When he came here in 2019, he talked about having fun and just going out there and playing football again. 2 grey cups/2 Mops/ big ass contract/media attention etc etc etc and that looseness seems to be gone a bit. Same thing happened in Hamilton as well.

He's not their biggest problem. But I'm not sure how anyone can watch him play when it matters and suggest he's playing well. Yup he's got a lot of yards and TDs but garbage time is a real thing.

I honestly think MOS just thinks those guys are the best at their spots...but assuming youre right, why would they be developing so many positions to be Canadian? They've started at least 1 more Canadian than needed going on 2 years now? Maybe more? The talent pool dictates that developing that many positions isn't likely to turn up positive results. -

A lot of people said that about Allen. People also said that about VA, people said that about Fajardo. Writing a guy off after barely 2 seasons in the league is short sighted. He needs time. I hope it's the Bombers that give it to him. That's not really an apples to apples comparison though. When you have a star Canadian (especially MOP level star) at any position they will command more $$. If Philpot continues his season you don't think he'll be up there with the highest paid wr? What did Fantuz get? What was Henoc making in his prime? If Betts had stuck around he'd be up there. Point being, star Canadians always come at a premium. -

There are always exceptions to the rules though. Brady is one of them. This teams success has mostly been dictated by how well they run the ball. Look back at those grey cups as see how well our RBs were utilized compared to the 2 they won. -

If you're talking about signing two guys to replace Brady. You're not saving that much. On top of that you'll see production drop unless you find a gem of an American. Which sounds easy, but there are 8 other teams and maybe 1 is at Bradys level right now. Either way, replacing a home town star is not the 1st place I'd look by a long shot. Qb, Wr, DL, LB and secondary all have contracts that aren't paying off. -

I'm not convinced Lucky is that WR. I know what you mean...I just haven't seen that in his game. He will be useful for sure. But I think it'll be more as a burner downfield/sweeps etc. -
There were countless times when a Hamilton rec was running wide open underneath, right by BO....and he just looked right past them and threw into coverage or over threw a wr downfield. That guy is toast.
-
I thought they could start blocking as soon as the ball left the qbs hand? That's what I was thinking last night. Would be nice to see mtl lose....but bombers need cgy to lose more. Watching fletcher and Armstrong made me want a combo of BO and Smith. The Bombers could use a home run hitter back there. BO is great, but with a twitchy guy like fletcher some of those runs BO busted would have been TDs.

Yeah it was preseason Bryant has missed 1 game as a Bomber. And it was end of year game against cgy. And Gray didn't take his place. -

That's not true. Gray has played RT before and looked bad. There was a reason why nuef was ahead of him in that regard. Gray never filled in for Bryant....outside of a preseason game. -

No. Brown doesn't have the same speed as Crum. That's what moved their offense...especially in the 4th. Brown playing, the Bombers likely put up more points because ott would have had more 2 and outs.
