Bomber News: 2019 Off Season
I think it's just a good fit. I don't have any new information just a feeling. He fills a spot we need depth in (cdn DL) he hasn't done very much to get a huge raise, like wise there isn't much on him to get a lot of other teams excited. And he knows the system. Who knows he could be gone already, but I just see how it could work for both sides.

I'd rather have Chungh then Loffler, but you do make a good point.

Bomber News: 2019 Off Season
I can honestly see Corney and Chungh coming back. But I think you are right about the rest. I honestly hope the team doesn't have interest in Demski

Around the League: 2019 Off Season
Here's something I don't see being discussed a lot. As has been mentioned the planning for FA has been underway for a while. Lapo is obviously a part of that, he likely knows the $$ amount the bombers are wanting to extend to each target. However part of the bombers plan for negotiating with FAs is to explain how said FA will work in their current Offensive system. So in giving Lapo to another team, not only are you losing an OC, but you're also giving a division rival important information on your FA plans, while also leaving behind a tool you're going to use to sway FAs over to you. Sure Lapo might be mad, that's understandable I guess (though I don't see how any reasonable person could be THAT upset about it). But allowing him to walk could turn out to be very drastic for this team, especially during an off season that is going very well for a Bomber team that has positioned itself to have a pretty successful season.

I'm surprised Oday was dumb enough to ask..."hey division rival, can we steal one of your coaches a few weeks before some really big moves will be made by every team?" Wtf did he expect. Riders are getting exactly what they asked for.

No he needs to do everything he can to get back on the roster with the riders. That's my wish for 2019. DD the starting QB for shittown suckatchewan

CFL signs new ESPN Deal
That's what I was wondering as well. What's this deal worth exactly?

I agree actually. But none of those are reasons as to why they shouldn't do this...just maybe not at this time. With the information I have (as just an average fan of the league) I don't think this is the time to be pursuing this, but I don't have all the information. As for the other areas of the league struggling...especially TO/MTL/BC. They've tried over and over to address those. MTL only comes out for a winner. BC and TO just don't want the CFL. Why should the league continue to pursue "fans" in cities that have shown time and time again, they don't want to be a part of it. Remember when TO just needed a new, smaller venue? Or maybe some star players, or championship teams? The league doesn't need to go international to find replacement players. There are plenty in NA. They need eyes on the TV screen. And there are plenty of those in NA too, but it's also a very saturated market, and we all know the CFL will always be the NFL's little silly cousin as far as Americans are concerned. So why not branch out? Low risk high reward.

I honestly have a hard time seeing the downside to these types of initiatives. If it works, more exposure for the league which should translate into more $$. If it doesn't work...they lose out on the $$ spent (which is likely minimal) to set up the combines/drafts etc. But there's no teams failing, there's no need to pull out of cities etc. Is it where I would have started? Maybe not. But I'm not privy to the info the league execs are. The potential success of this type of thing heavily out weighs the potential risks.

Ideally, yes one or 2 players could generate a lot of interest. Ideally, they will become stars and dominate for a few seasons. Realistically that's obviously not likely. But the league has had plenty of attempts at getting more interest from within Canada with varying degrees of success. ("our league" "Diversity is strength" "what we're made of" "bring it in" etc etc etc) But at the end of the day, there's only so much revenue that can come from Canadians.
-
Around the League: 2019 Off Season
That's the point. They aren't going to know just...cause. They need a reason to tune in....like a local player joining the league perhaps.
-
Around the League: 2019 Off Season
What's not to get? It's about getting more eyes on the TV screens to generate revenue. As an example, I know people who follow a specific soccer team (overseas somewhere) due to a winnipeger playing on said team. They watch the games, follow the social media outlets etc etc. They did none of those things before the Wpg player joined that team/league. Bringing in international players will draw international attention...how much $$ will be generated from it...who knows? But nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I thought collaros was a FA. If he's not, looks like it's just a matter of time. I still think Jennings will be in ssk this year. Reilly BC. Bridge and Glenn in Edm.

Bomber News: 2019 Off Season
This one stings a bit for sure, but I'm not all that surprised. I suspect he still has a few all star seasons a head of him though. Solid player his entire career here even after a bad injury. This is the crappy part of the business. Saying that, if they're making moves like this, they better ******* pay off!

I don't think Huff is going to be in on the Reilly Sweep stakes either way. This is just a good idea on his part. Let BC/Edm think there are more teams interested, will drive up their cost hurting them other places. If there's no Bo this year I can see Huff making a trade for a younger QB or signing someone like Jennings and surrounding him with a bunch of talent. I don't think there's anyway Huff will pay for Reilly.
