  1. What is elite in a 9 team league? Top 3? Top 5? He is neither of those...I disagree.Collaros was the hottest QB in the league before he got hurt and in my mind is #1, and Burris had a great season this year so that puts him at #2. (Of course Burris is just as likely to crash and burn next year like he did last year.) That leaves Mitchell, Harris, Reilly and Durant in the 2nd tier of QBs. (And possibly Jennings from BC? I did not see enough of him to say.) Willy is easily in their league. If you put any of those guys on the Bombers offence this year what do you think would’ve happened? Statistically speaking, if you extrapolate Willy’s numbers for an 18 game season he is right up there in the top 5 QBs. He would have had approx. 4100 yards, 24 TDs, 9 int., With a QBR of approx. 100. And that's with Bellfool as OC. You missed Ray. And I don't play the "if he had stayed healthy, he would have had..." game. That’s okay that you don’t play that game, but if you want to compare QBs and rank them, you kind of have to. I understand that every QB could add numbers to their totals in this way, but there is really no other way to compare. Ricky Ray in his prime was elite and I would have wanted him over anyone out there. He is no longer in his prime though. Going into next season he will be 37 years old and on the down side of his career. At this point in their careers, I would stick with Willy. It is my opinion that with a competent oline and a competent OC, Willy has the tools to be a top 3 QB. Fair enough but he hasn't shown that yet. Hell we chose Willy over Burris because Burris was on the downside of his career and now Burris just had one of the best years of his career and very well may win the Grey Cup. Now we're saying the same thing about Ray. Hmmm something about not learning from our mistakes.... Yes he has. When we is healthy is near the top or the top in all stats. He hasn't done it over an entire season due to injury. But when he's in there, he's one of the best.
  2. I would hope the next OC isn't as closed minded about the QB position as you are. I'll give Drew Willy credit for his unbelievable toughness. But he hasn't played enough to prove he is worth $400k. Which is a problem for Winnipeg going forward. It means they have to allow a big percentage of the cap for QB if they want any real competition at the QB position. For example, let's say Harris or Ray is available. One of those guys could easily come in and beat Willy for the job. But they won't be cheap. (Assuming Wpg wants another pocket passer). How do we know they could? Did Harris do anything Willy isn't capable of? Has Ray been healthy enough to give out the big contract to? You are severely under rating Drew Willy here and I don't understand why. Watch the guy play and you see a guy in total control. He makes good decisions he can make all the throws you need. Give him an offense that doesn't handicap a qb and watch him put up some damned good numbers. You are falling into the grass is greener trap bigtime here. OK Ricky Ray we know and we know he's near the end of his career. Would rather see him come here as a coach than QB. But did Willy do anything Harris isn't capable of? Harris did throw for 33 TDs this year with a 100.7 QB rating in a very mediocre offence. Meantime Bombers have been starved for exceptional QB play for so long that even so-so looks amazing, it seems. I hope you're right and a healthy Drew Willy never gets hurt again and plays lights out under a new system. I really wish it could happen. But I don't think it will because I don't think he's as good as some folks seem to think. Many Bomber wins where Willy was QB came on the strength of sold ST and defensive play - offensive production was still putrid. But now that MOS has basically told the next OC like it or not here's your starter, I guess we are all going to get a chance to see what unfolds. Bass-akwards management tough, hamstringing the next OC. So you're putting the bad offence on Willy despite the overwhelming evidence that suggests it's MB that was the problem....ok...?
  3. Slow read/slow release - but put up numbers that rivalled the best in the league until Defenses were able to que in on our Offence and our OC refused to adapt. And if you can't see that Willy could be mobile if needed I'm not sure what you're watching. Not to mention that the most successful QB in the history of Football (passing yards anyway) was a drop back pocket passer. Who needs one of those.
  4. I wouldn't mind going after ssk Oc if we can. That offense wasn't the issue with the team. And considering how that situation plays out he may be looking for another opportunity
  5. Yes but you'd be insane to think it was because of his offense.
  6. Reasons his offense was terrible: 1. Joey Elliot 2. Alex Brink 3. Steven Jyles (was actually moderately effective for only time in his career under Lapo) 4. Broken down Buck Pierce In 2011 didn't bucks play in most games? Our offensive was horrible then too.
  7. Marcel has himself a long track record in the CFL and it's not that pretty. Mediocre at best and consider this, when he was OC in Montreal people thought Calvillo was washed up because he was taking an awful lot of sacks... Marcel gets canned and Montreal is giving up less sacks and Calvillo goes on to have several more highly productive years. Bellefeuille is not a good offensive coordinator and yes there is likely more wrong than just him, but he's a big problem and probably the biggest problem. Yup, I would give Marcel the benefit if it wasn't for the fact his entire career has played out like this. He's had all star olines and made them look bad, he's had legendary qbs and made them look bad. Etc etc etc. Marcel undoubtedly was the biggest (not the only) problem with this team.
  8. Fair enough, and generally the CND's won't be your fastest receivers. I disagree about Moore. He was consistently behind the defence his first year here. I think if you compare our REC to anyone else, speed and size would probably be the biggest differences. You're probably right we could use some more speed on O, I'd like that speed to come in a 6'3 frame though
  9. I completely disagree. Denmark and Moore have speed to burn, it just was never utilized this year. We need a big body out there. Preferably a big, fast body.
  10. He's terrible. Gets beat consistently. No he isn't. You don't get that many ints, knockdowns etc when you're terrible. This is the CFL, if you can show me one DB on every team that DOESN'T get beat on a regular basis I might be swayed. You might find one in the entire league but that's it. Adams will be a solid player like he was this year for a while.
  11. No. SSK takes that by a mile...by 50 miles. I've never seen a professional team tackle as horribly as they do. It's embarrassing just being a fan of the cfl and watching that "defence" play.
  12. I was kind of meh about Davis, until that throw to Denmark on the wide side sideline about 40 yards down field. Davis threw that on a rope. I liked it! Thought he played well enough. Seems to be pretty smart, didn't throw to many bad balls, knew when to run and how to preserve himself. Marshall Marshall Marshall....I hope he's back next year. I thought he played very well except for that one horrible drop. Darvin Adams drops too many balls. That first ball he saw from Davis was perfect and went right through his hands, no excuse for that. I'm hoping we bring in about 20 rec for training camp to light a fire under Adams and Moore. And find someone better to play the wide side other then Bastien. I honestly thought our O might be exciting to watch today. I figured MB would have known he's done and he had better show something special to make the management at least think about at. But no, 2nd and 10...5 yard button. telegraphed runs up the middle. Lack of any consistent deep ball. MB went out the only way he knows how....horribly. Here's to a new season and hopefully a professional Offence! When does training camp start?
  13. Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again, but life goes on.
  14. Not sure what you're getting at exactly. But I would take Bowman over Moore no questions asked. Not Owens though. Yyyyyyyyikes...no sir. Moore has his troubles, but Captain Dropsies Bowman....don't want him back near this team. agreed! i wouldnt take bowman back after his stint here, felt the same way about kamau peterson too after he left then lit it up a bit lol when was the last time Moore led the league in REC? Or had a 200 yard game? Or lowered his shoulder and ran a DB over? Bowman has done all 3 within the last year and I believe he has had 2 200 yard games this year. Yes he's had a solid QB tossing him the ball but I see Bowman getting screens and short throws and turning those into 20 yard gains and TDs. I see Moore getting a short pass and ducking for cover. I'm not trying to say Moore is crap, I'm just saying Bowman is better. The evidence is overwhelming. And go ahead and say what you want about bowmans time here, but he showed flashes of what he was capable of. And he's career since leaving WPG has only gone up. And had we held on to him (I was in favour of cutting him at the time too) We could possibly have a 3 headed monster in Bowman Moore and Denmark.
  15. My thoughts exactly. Willy doesn't hurt his knee that game, it's only a matter of time before he's hurt during another game. Thankfully he didn't come back this season and let MB have another chance at ruining his career. I hope come Monday, MB is no longer apart of this team.
  16. What happened to the WR Cone??
  17. I think Westerman has a good chance at the MOC and Bass at the ROY.
  18. Not sure what you're getting at exactly. But I would take Bowman over Moore no questions asked. Not Owens though.
  19. Yeah but they still have Anderson and Tunei (spelling?) soooo I'm sure those guys will make a play at some point....
  20. That says more about the quality of our receiving corps behind Moore than a compliment to Moore. I would say that the lack of production overall this year by the receivers is more due to the lack of a quality OC and having to use back-up QB's for most of the season. If you were to extrapolate Moore’s numbers for a full 18 games, he would have close to 1100 yards for the season. That would be good enough for 6th overall in the CFL. Moore is not worth the money he is currently getting, but to say that he is not a #1 receiver is just not accurate. Does he deserve #1 money in spite of the fact that he gets injured way too often? That’s another question all together. But I am sure that in his mind and his agents mind, the answer would be yes. Agreed, I don't see anything terribly wrong with the Bombers receivers or RB's, the problems lie elsewhere in the Bombers O. I don't really agree. I think we see better production out of RB and Rec under a new OC. But I still think we are too small and too slow in the REC category. Sure Denmark and Moore have wheels. But they aren't running anyone over. Not a knock on Denmark. I really am a fan of his, but he needs a better team around him to be more successful.
  21. Moore just isn't built for the inside slot position, he's all spaghetti arms and legs, will never stay healthy in there. Yup, and more often then not he isn't willing to put his head down to get that extra yard. I saw him run out of bounds/go down way too many times this year.
  22. I would if the price is right. And under the assumption he knows he's the back up and the back up only.
  23. I'd like to see Newman - simple cause he's canadian Nichols Randle Washington Shell At least until we find someone to replace him Daniels Pointbriand Marshall
  24. Well at least I know I won't miss anything while I'm waiting for beer.
