On the killing of Dugina's daughter

“Our nation is witnessing a merciless campaign to wipe out our history, defame our heroes, erase our values and indoctrinate our children," Trump said. " ... Their goal is not a better America. Their goal is to end America." Or as I like to call it " telling the truth " about their history.

I think it's close to making that connection . I watched that timeline episode. It's good.. I also watched a Netflix series Hitler's Cicle of Evil that was an interesting look into the whole Nazi power group. The relationships between both them and Hitler and the relationships with each other is fascinating. I also saw a connection or a mirroring with Trump and his group. The mass psychosis ( not sure if that's the term I need ) of a population is again a fascination for me. How does an entire population buy in ? Or at least buy in enough to allow it to happen ? ( maybe thats a better comparable in the US ). How were millions of soldiers in WW1 convinced to live in a rat infested, urine, blood and gut soaked , sub human hole then climb out and run straight into machine gun fire ? Voluntarily ! What made the depression of the 1930s last 10 years ? A 10 year period that scarred the lives of millions for the rest of their days. ( very pertinent for the discussion of Nazi Germany ). As a species we tend to run with the herd I guess.

I disagree. There are many politicians who enter politics for all the right reasons. Sometimes their beliefs are different from Our own personal beliefs so we assume they are corrupt, not nice...... Sometimes they are shoved to the side by those in power or with more political punch. Sometimes when good politicians are in politics to long they slowly slide into corruption .But there are good ones. But there are some that have neither good morals or character right off the bat. I would suggest the state of current US politics weeds out the good ones real quick and discards them on the trash heap pretty quick.

It's still shocking to read the details of what went and is still going on . How the US teeters on the edge. It is in some ways fascinating ( not in a good way ) for someone who enjoys history, to watch a country slide into outright fascism. I was always interested in how the German people ,the country as a whole slid into backing Nazism. Just like this I suppose. Bit by bit. What is normal now would have been shocking 10 years ago. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/aug/20/rusty-bowers-interview-trump-arizona-republicans

" collapse of the system. " Its a bit unnerving after seeing the response to the pandemic. From unneeded panic hoarding at the start , over reaction to mild restrictions , to ridiculous reactions to life saving vaccines, our society didn't handle the whole thing very well. I can't imagine the response to actual food and water shortages.
-
With the war in Ukraine, this in western Europe , weather issues in North America the last 2 years and supply chain issues world wide I could foresee food shortages where there have been none before.

Possibly. As I say each time I make a Trudeau comment I totally dislike him but the BS they throw at him is ignorant. The guy has given enough ammunition to the other side that they don't need to make crap up. And they definatly don't need to inflame and embolden the nut bars. I think if people hang with the radical right long enough they come to believe that most people think that way. The longer this goes on, and the crazier the USA gets the more important this next election becomes in my mind. I've never feared that any particular leader or party would get in power or hold the balance of power in Canada. I always believe the pendulum has to swing back and forth to keep the Canadian clock running properly. What's happening now is different. Tantamount to throwing a wrench in the gears.

I think alot of the drop in the polls isTrudeau himself( but I am admittedly biased). I think a new Liberal leader would bump them back up. But I don't see him as a take one for the team and step down kind of guy.
-
A question . Has Trudeau said he is staying on as leader ? Has there been any rumblings that he will step down ?

Dignity ? Think about that Tracker. 😁

Week 10 - LOLouettes @ The Back-to-Back Champs - GDT

That's exactly what I thought. They looked worn out. They dug real deep and almost ( should have ) won it but that insane schedule caught up to them. I caught a bit of the" miked up " show with Wolitarsky and it was interesting how he was talking about not ever having a month of football like that. How he was so exhausted and was learning new things about pushing himself. Neither O'shea or the team will admit it but it slipped out there on a live mike. -

Good play calling and great run -
I agree with some of your points BUT my issue is we don't have a viable alternative. It's my firm belief PP will be a disaster. Both because of his willingness to pander to the nut jobs and because I really question his ability to to be a good functioning government. I like Singh but I doubt Canadians are willing to vote him in due to his ethnicity. I think a Trudeau less Liberal party would draw alot of support. Would it be better ? Who knows.

It's like a 2nd pandemic. Moronitis.

Lol, it was the 1st thought that went through my head. What the hell are they protesting ??? ( And I have a ton of dislike for Trudeau ) I guess there are a few people with bugger all to do.

Like most bills that get passed in the US it has been beaten to death or worse. It's such a faulty political system. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/aug/09/us-climate-bill-fossil-fuel-harm-environment-biden Edit: I'll add this

Go for it ! -
I watched an interview with Nichelle Nichols and she said she was going to quit Star Trek after the 1st year. . But apparently Martin Luther King talked her out of it. He said what she was doing in that role for black people was to important. I might be wrong but I think she was also involved in the 1st interracial kiss on tv.

It makes you wonder. Is it Zach maturing to his full potential ? Is it the team atmosphere O'shea has created that meshes with Zachs personality ? Is it his ability to work with Buck ? All the former and a little bit more ? Whatever it is, in my mind Zach has cemented himself as one of the best we have had in Blue and Gold .
