  1. Think he did a good job with the Canadians obviously, but the work at WR with Smith and previously Dressler is good because he identified the roster weakness and also that our scouting in that area has sucked.
  2. Its hilarious. This is the whole point of free agency. Obviously the Bombers would go after other team's players - the Bombers had holes on their roster everywhere and re-signing their 2015 roster would make very little sense given their record. Plenty of teams have made moves and plenty always do. He's just cranky.
  3. This looks like a really good haul. Takes the pressure off of scouting and it looks like we have a solid plan.
  4. If Harris makes this team then it'll confirm again the fears most have about our terrible scouting department.
  5. When do we think we'll see the new uniforms?
  6. Even at a lower cost he would still be really bad.
  7. Good for Orridge not allowing Thorpe to just transfer laterally to another position, but I really don't know how the rest of this will play out. I can't see Thorpe actually remaining in Montreal now.
  8. I don't see anyway Thorpe can possibly be allowed to move from the Als to Esks. Its not a promotion and he is currently under contract. If this happens it would seem to greatly change the CFL coaching opportunities.
  9. I can't see Ottawa winning this. I don't think an assistant jumping to head coach should warrant compensation but a head coach under contract should, in my opinion.
  10. RedBlacks want compensation for Maas...will be Orridge's first big test as commish with this.
  11. Dyce signs on with the RedBlacks to be their ST coordinator. At this point I hope O'Shea keeps the ST title.
  12. Fixing the OL is a must, otherwise any OC is doomed here.
  13. ANd do we think Lapolice is taking this job right now for any reason other than he thinks if O'Shea gets fired he'll get another chance to wear the big head set? If he succeeds here then he will be in demand as a head coach. He also outlined a few reasons why he decided now was the time to take the job in his presser.
  14. I think if you're looking for an OC then Maas would be near the top of the list. If you're looking for a HC then he's near the bottom. He is very qualified to be an OC. Not nearly as much to be a HC.
  15. Huge move by the Riders to get Murphy.
  16. I think the Bombers should get credit for going out and getting their guy. People always blast them for being perceived as behind all the other teams. Everybody else is still looking for an OC and candidates are getting scratched off the list fast. Jackson declined chances to be an OC, Brady looks to be staying put, Edmonton needs to put a whole staff together and Ottawa will need an OC.
  17. o.k...who is the best choice and why? Someone who hasn't failed here twice already for obvious reasons. Lapo has been stuck on TSN for the last few years, that says something to me about how in demand the guy is. Yeah he's the most experienced candidate out there... but that isn't exactly much to hang your hat on. I don't know if I call his head coaching stint a "failure", as he did get us to the Grey Cup in 2011. In 2012 he was Mack's fall guy. I don't think that Lapo should have been fired in 2012. That was a terrible move, and set us up with Droopy Dog for a year and half of misery. One could argue LaPo was the last successful Bomber coach. At least he made a Grey Cup.
  18. Your post makes absolutely no sense at all. Dangerous precedent?? Coaches leave teams all the time for promotions. Its happened many times, only difference this time is the Esks crying about it. We let Ritchie Hall out of his contract to go to Edmonton to be the HC there. We let Kent Austin out of his contract right after we won the grey cup to go coach in the NCAA. Many examples where this has happened. Its pretty rare to see a HC with a contract leave for another team. Hall's move to Edmonton was from assistant to head coach. Austin was leaving the league. Neither of these are the situation Jones was in. Its considered a promotion because of the GM title and so that's why it was allowed, but employed head coaches moving to another team is actually pretty rare.
  19. Another note..Osh and LaPo will review the offensive coaching staff. I don't expect a lot of changes, but do wonder if they find a new QB coach. Howell and Buck I think will stick given their knowledge of LaPo's offense.
  20. Sounds as expected that Maas will go to Edmonton. So Edmonton, BC and Ottawa will be looking for coordinators. Who's filling those spots? Can't see Brady leaving Toronto for one of them.
  21. Madani says Dyce can land in Winnipeg...
  22. Lawless tweeting that the Riders are taking a ton of Jones' Esks staff with him. I'll be very curious to see what the hires are in BC and Edmonton. Are they going to be scrambling to find decent coordinator hires? I feel like a lot of Bomber fans would be saying that same thing if we were in their place currently. Also, I think the CFL and the Riders have set a dangerous precedent with hiring Jones away from a current contract. Will be interesting to see if it happens again at some point and if the league ever decides to change it. Personally I think Edmonton got screwed losing a head coach currently under contract, and now having all his assistants go with him. At least most of the assistants aren't under contract.
  23. I think the Bombers will be interested in him, either as an offensive assistant under LaPo or as ST coach.
  24. I loved Pierce's style of quarterbacking and he was very effective at what he did, BUT, let's not pretend Pierce was anywhere close to being the same kind of QB he was before he became a Bomber. When you take away his "Mike Reilly-do anything-to-get-a-1st-down" kind of QBing, you take away a lot of what made Pierce effective. This is what we were left with when Pierce played for us. He was only a shadow of the player he once was. And it didn't help that everybody knew it, and we couldn't protect him worth a damn. Pierce was mediocre here, even in the Grey Cup year. Not nearly as terrible as some of the other guys, but nearly good enough amongst CFL starters.
  25. Lol! Milt Stegall - Greatest Receiver Of All Time......Khari Jones -- One of WBB greatest QBs of all time.......Charles Roberts -- One of CFL greatest RBs of all time....Arland Bruce -- One of CFL greatest receivers of all time.......... Yeaaaahhhhh.....maybe they helpes.....a little..... We both agree it helps to have great players like that on the roster. Plenty of good coaches are fortunate enough to have great players on the roster, and still get credit for the team's success. It strikes me as some people just working extra hard to hate the hire. If you're going to hate it, at least do so reasonably.
