I'll listen to this later when I get home, but at this point I don't what Walters has to say. He is well spoken and sounds smart - all great traits to have. He must be judged on his work. Single biggest problem this team has right now is him.
-
Miller won't do that with MOS. He'll earn every penny win or lose. I can't imagine the pressure that poor guy will be under next season. Ever worked at a job where you know that your firing is an inevitability? I have & it's a terrible situation. Except his firing isn't inevitable. Seems to be the tiny detail missing from your theory. He wins, he stays.

Good point. Wylie, Hall, & MB had all never seen a CFL game before being hired by the Bombers. Rumour has it that they thought they were joining a team in the Continental Football League...
-
Didn't say half price, you did but... think about it. How much would we have to pay Huff to come here? How much to snag guys like Milanovich? Austin? Jones? How much are we paying Walters & MOS? If you think it's similar to any of those guys, think again. We'd have to pay a premium to get any of those guys mentioned to come here if they were available. Maybe Jones came cheaper as he was never a HC before he went to Edmonton but he'll be in for a sizeable raise when contract talks start with the Eskimos if they haven't started already. What sort of point are you attempting to make? To put it bluntly, I don't think you have one. If ANYONE wanted to snag Milanovich, Hufnagel, or Austin right now, that team would have to pay top dollar. This isn't Bomber specific. There is a going rate for first time head coaches. I'm going to guess that they're all similarly compensated. You are creating a false argument because the Bombers choices weren't (a) hire O'Shea so you can get him cheaper or ( back up the truck for current Argonauts head coach Scott Milanovich. This is simply false.

Job Vacancy: Special Teams Coordinator
Captain Blue replied to Doublezero's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I think our special teams was alright after O'Shea took over, but really I just loved the attitude he brought to that part of the team once Tracy was gone. We ran more fakes once Osh took over. That was the effect I thought we were going to get two years ago when we hired him. -
That list is pretty underwhelming.
-
Would rather hire George Costanza.
-
With O'Shea's limited experience as a coach, he needs to surround himself with great coordinators. He's never going to be the guy to take over the offense and plot a new direction, for instance. Its why moving to Richie Hall as the DC was so important, and why hitting this hire out of the park is so crucial. He needs two great coordinators, and if someone has already shown that they are good at that job, then they move to the top of my list. Its different when you hire say, Scott Milanovich or Kent Austin. You expect your offense to be good no matter what because they're so involved in the offensive gameplan.
-
Most people, self included, didn't think he would even be available.
-
I would love Brady rather than Khari.

If I was only allowed to fire one person, it would be Walters. You can fire MB but no OC will succeed with Walters OL, WR and RB "finds."

Last game day thread of the season
Captain Blue replied to bigg jay's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Working my way through the game now. Davis looks alright, about what I expected. Scouts will drool over the physical traits. The question will always be if he can progress further and refine his pocket game. Didn't help that the receivers had some drops. I am glad the season is over. It just felt so painful this season. I'll await the firing of MB after the Grey Cup. I've lost hope that Walters is at risk, so that sucks. -
Next question ... since it seems to be a theme around here
Captain Blue replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If its not the Bombers, then I root for it not to be Saskatchewan. After that? Don't care who wins. -
I was wondering the same thing last week, this guy is virtually invisible. I wonder if he actually spends anytime in Canada. What?!? Orridge is an American who just got his Canadian citizenship. He made sure he was seen on television at one of the Liberal candidate's soiree's election night in Toronto. Interviewed on CBC that night. I know that. He's lived in Canada for around 10 years which is why I said "what?!?" to the ridiculous comment I bolder. Why is it ridiculous? The guy is the Invisible Man. Maybe he goes camping on weekends during the season? Maybe he's been building a deck all season at home. Maybe he took a lesson from the Rona guy and accidentally built it in his house.

The Next Step to Excitement: Change the Safety Touch
Captain Blue replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I do not want to see this. Nor do I trust the CFL to make any good rule changes, ever. The product they put out this year was worse than last year. I am hoping it doesn't continue that way. -
The story here really is more what Lawless reported that Walters and O'Shea are staying. That's newsworthy. That Miller is looking around at candidates for assistant coaching positions? Meh. Why the heck not, right? People complain that the Bombers are always behind the other teams, now they're complaining about this. Any notion that Miller is undermining O'Shea should be filed under "only if you can prove it." The most likely scenario is that Miller is gathering information on assistants and availability. There is nothing wrong with that, and this sort of casual info seeking happens all the time in sports.

Not even sure where to start with a post like this. So many wrong things. When you spelled Henoc as Enoch, I thought the post was intentionally sarcastic. Nope.

Lawless: O'Shea & Walters to return in 2016
Captain Blue replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'd be more willing to tolerate O'Shea sticking around if Walters and Bellefuille were fired. For my money Walters is the biggest issue still - this roster is terrible. Bellefuille has sucked, but nobody is gonna get the offense working better if Walters can't find OLs, WRs, and another RB. I find it hard to believe we will ever be on the right track with Walters in charge. -
Week 18 - Hamilton @ BC -- Mont 34 Tor. 2
Captain Blue replied to Mr Dee's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Whole game feels like a preseason game. Toronto's fans didn't show (understandable given the location) and neither did the team. Thank goodness they can go to BMO Field next year, the CFL looks awful with games like these. -
Whenever they do announce the new uniforms this offseason, I'm just going to count it as the highlight of the 2015 season.

Only person taking repeated shots at supporters in this thread is you...

How does one judge change for change sake vs actually supporting Trudeau or Mulcair? Maybe people just actually freaking hate Harper?
