  1. The only time I am in favour of kicking for 1 point now is if it's in the second half and it's really a no-brainer to get the extra point. To win, to put yourself within 3, etc. You only need to make just over 50 percent on your two point tries to make it worth it, and I feel given our red zone, goal line offense that we would easily surpass it. There are NFL studies showing that teams should be going for 2 more consistently. I would be willing to bet that the evidence holds up in the CFL too.
  2. I think Hurl gets too much hate. I don't think he's been very good this season, but I don't think he's nearly the problem others do I guess. His job is a lot harder too with DTs that aren't able to move linemen around.
  3. Unamba was good on special teams, useless everywhere else. That's why he is gone and Shell, who can actually pitch in and play on the defense, remains.
  4. I really want to laugh at the Rider fans who are claiming to fire everyone, but I still see the Fire Richie Hall thread to high up on this board. The guy who's coached three games here. I hope this board proves me wrong, but I'll be looking to see if all those guys with low post counts and shouting from the rooftops are here this week to discuss a win.
  5. You have to wonder how many more losses before Sask cans someone. Think Chamblin still will manage to survive for now, but add a couple of losses onto the 0-3 and someone will get blamed (by Chamblin, since he's blameless of course.)
  6. Holy geeze, Saskatchewan continues to plummet.
  7. Was only half paying attention, was it really worthy of a flag?
  8. OT! Saskatchewan absolutely can't close out a game properly.
  9. Can't believe they're going for the kick here. Such a long kick, I'd gamble on the third down play.
  10. These flags are probably good calls, but this is really killing the game.
  11. That's a shitty call there ref, cop out ruling forward progress stopped. I mean, the guy is still moving and fighting. At least it didn't make the difference, BC gets the ball.
  12. No whistle, I don't see how you can overturn this.
  13. Holy smokes, that's a huge mistake
  14. Am I the only one curious about that spot?
  15. Four straight plays with a flag. Yay.
  16. Randle was better at SAM today. Still best at corner. Top tier corner > decent linebacker (or really, dime back), in my opinion.
  17. Other than that major gaff I thought the refs. did a decent job tonight. It wasn't a flagfest like other games have been so it seems as if the players are starting to play to the rule changes. The first half seemed to have a ton of flags, and then very little in the second. I think they're still struggling to figure out consistency. Did both teams magically improve in the second half or did they just decide to put their whistles away?
  18. I will keep battling this idea that the Bombers were bad. Ya, this one wasn't nearly as pretty or efficient as the W against the Riders. Still I thought both teams played well tonight. Bombers' offense couldn't finish their drives but they still moved the ball. Willy makes all the difference. The passing game was so much more effective. They had the right idea with hot routes tonight but still have to sharpen them. Couple of knockdowns by the DL hurt them too. I think the offense after two games with Willy overall has a positive outlook. Montreal was extremely aggressive tonight but the Bombers didn't fold like they did last week. The D has 3-5 breakdowns a game. Today we survived despite those, but they still need to be cut down. I thought they looked like they were sorting things out more. Leggett was much more like the safety we saw last year, and like Willy, has a huge impact on his side of the ball. The weak spot still is the DL. We can't get pressure and that's why QBs are putting up big numbers. The new guys on the line helped a bit, so I'm hoping that they continue to tinker to find the right combo. People in the chat complained about the run D but I thought that wasn't an issue tonight. Lots to work on, but growth in the right direction. I'm pretty pleased with the outing.
  19. I could appreciate this if their columns also weren't complete ****. But that might be more my opinion than anything. The whole business model is complete crap and because they refuse to change to fill a need, they're going to go extinct. For instance, their writers hold much more access and availability than the common fan and so you would think this would give them an edge in writing articles. With such an advantage, they should be the ones expected to put out the highest quality work. What's happening at practice? Recent developments to keep an eye on? If you want people to pay for something, provide something of value. Instead, we get the same articles behind a pay wall. Nobody is going to pay for that, certainly not most of the <50 year old crowd.
  20. I disagree with this. In this new media age, tweeting is part of their job. It should be used to push followers / readers to their columns. It should be to gain trust from and expand their followers base to drive more traffic to their respective papers. Those tweets do nothing to make me want to read tomorrow's column. At least for Bob Irving, he doesn't have a column. "I didn't actually watch practice or do any hard reporting - read the Freep tomorrow!"
  21. Every time a Jets player sneezes, you hear about it from five media sources and then they have to speculate about it for hours. Is it a virus? My God it could be a virus! Yet we get nothing, absolutely nothing of value by the media on the Bombers. It ticks me off immensely. They get paid to sit and watch football and STILL can't manage to do even to do that. And for those wondering about fan attendance, how would it impact numbers if fans actually had more than crappy newspaper articles to consider?
  22. Chamblin better get skewered for opting to snap the ball on the 1 yard line with a minute left to win the game. Wind the clock and win the game near the end.
  23. Riders 0-2. Impressive game by the Argos, and really a good game by both teams.
