  1. I could appreciate this if their columns also weren't complete ****. But that might be more my opinion than anything. The whole business model is complete crap and because they refuse to change to fill a need, they're going to go extinct. For instance, their writers hold much more access and availability than the common fan and so you would think this would give them an edge in writing articles. With such an advantage, they should be the ones expected to put out the highest quality work. What's happening at practice? Recent developments to keep an eye on? If you want people to pay for something, provide something of value. Instead, we get the same articles behind a pay wall. Nobody is going to pay for that, certainly not most of the <50 year old crowd.
  2. I disagree with this. In this new media age, tweeting is part of their job. It should be used to push followers / readers to their columns. It should be to gain trust from and expand their followers base to drive more traffic to their respective papers. Those tweets do nothing to make me want to read tomorrow's column. At least for Bob Irving, he doesn't have a column. "I didn't actually watch practice or do any hard reporting - read the Freep tomorrow!"
  3. Every time a Jets player sneezes, you hear about it from five media sources and then they have to speculate about it for hours. Is it a virus? My God it could be a virus! Yet we get nothing, absolutely nothing of value by the media on the Bombers. It ticks me off immensely. They get paid to sit and watch football and STILL can't manage to do even to do that. And for those wondering about fan attendance, how would it impact numbers if fans actually had more than crappy newspaper articles to consider?
  4. Chamblin better get skewered for opting to snap the ball on the 1 yard line with a minute left to win the game. Wind the clock and win the game near the end.
  5. Riders 0-2. Impressive game by the Argos, and really a good game by both teams.
  6. The fact Chris Cuthbert doesn't know the rules of overtime is pretty comical right now.
  7. Chris Cuthbert just was shocked the Argos are going for 2. They have to.
  8. Trevor Harris is really comfortable in this offense.
  9. I think the real crime here is not being more creative than Oh'Stubborn.
  10. Ya, to be honest if a guy is at least making a play for the ball I'd always be fine with the PI being a 10 yard penalty and first down. It's the ones like the PI's O'Shea had to challenge vs Hamilton where the guy doesn't even know where the ball is and is just trailing the receiver and then stopping him from working to the ball that should be spot fouls. Could go to "intentional" (not playing the ball) and "unintentional" (at least making an attempt on the ball) PI. That's the thing, I've just seen too many plays similar to what we just witnessed being called PI and given the spot on the goal line. If you want to call unintentional PI more frequently I'm all for it but in this one instance, it strikes me as a ref wanting to avoid putting the ball on the one yard line.
  11. I think if they're going to call that one incidental PI then we should see a lot more incidental PI calls. Problem is, as always, consistency.
  12. One loss - an ugly one for sure - and suddenly everything goes nuts. Hopefully fans are smart enough to judge the season as an accumulation of games rather than just react to whatever happened in the most recent week.
  13. Toronto just got screwed out of a PI that would have tied the game for them. "Incidental PI" called instead. Happy to see them score here to potentially tie it up.
  14. Man we are really heading down the hyperbole highway tonight.
  15. I think the Bombers horribly misuse/allot their scoreboard usage. It really hinders the gameday experience.
  16. Upper deck, 55 yard line, as low as possible. I think those tickets have the best value + view in the whole stadium. My second choice would be lower deck, 55 yard line, as high up as possible. I've always enjoyed being high enough to really see the whole play develop.
  17. I demand a full refund.
  18. There was that time they wanted Canada's junior team to wear green for a game, just for Saskatchewan...
  19. Glad to hear it. Ran into him at the Bomber Store today, he was picking out a few things so I figured he had family coming in for the game.
  20. I definitely agree that with so many injuries to star QBs the level of play and overall game takes a big hit. Definitely want to see the QBs well protected. That said, I think the TSN panel and media is dramatizing this as some sort of QB crisis. Injuries happen and this is (sometimes) part of the process that gives new QBs playing time.
  21. I honestly thought I was going crazy thinking that Durant wasn't touched on that play. Not a great night for TSN, as usual. Maybe they should have their next in-game interview span the whole second half next time, just to really get viewer excitement up.
  22. ....AND IF we are holding all the cards...I want a damn good football player plus coming back our way...Just remember back when we were in deep do-do and nobody would even lift the receiver....tough game this game of football. Nobody is giving a "damng good football player" for Marve or Portis. Maybe we move one of them, but let's not make the mistake of overvaluing our own third stringers.
  23. I think the D was awful today but think we should give them more time. Leggett is a game changer. One of the best safeties in the league, and Demetrius Wright back there was terrible. Leggett should help reduce the big plays, plus brings a good edge rush occasionally. Gotta figure out the DL. Thought for sure this would be a strength after seeing them in camp. After one game it looks like I was completely wrong so far. Still want to see Gibson more, less Peach. I don't know how you fix the DT spot, not much to replace Anderson with. I think our run defense should correct itself as well. I don't think it'll be particularly good, but as long as it doesn't remain so unbelievably bad the defense should be alright. Just off odds, you have to think the chances of teams consistently putting up several 30+ yard runs is pretty small.
  24. Really hate to see anyone go down, especially for season enders in the first week. Greatly changes the landscape of the West, Edmonton and Sask both face a much tougher challenge now. Saskatchewan already seems like they're in big injury trouble, not only with Durant done but with several starters.
  25. Hopefully this means they are moving a QB for something (likely not much). He's an athletic QB, having him, Marve and Portis seems redundant. They all bring the same skill set to the table I think.
