  1. Heading out again for the second practice, should be able to give a few updates.
  2. A few other tidbits to add: I was interested in seeing the new OL out there but its hard to see who's creating space from the sideline. There were a few big runs when they went up against the defense so that's a good sign, but don't have much else to report. Hurl took a lot of reps at MLB. I keep forgetting about Newman, he had a lot of reps at OLB too. Our DL this year should be impressive. Westerman, Anderson and Turner could be special. I thought Gibson looked alright at the rush end spot. I hope to see more of Bastien in more practices. Bigger than I thought, and made a few catches.
  3. What about Tunei's day was inconsistent? I recall a ball he didn't catch that was thrown behind him, but that's about it. Other than that he caught what was thrown his way, and even when he wasn't involved he managed to break from the DBs.
  4. I'm standing today since only here for the second practice. I don't mind it really, but harder to see routes and coverages. Definitely miss being able to see the whole field from just a few rows above. Find it harder to get more useful info from the practice.
  5. In the second practice Bass has had two huge hits. Practiced some runs today and now hitting the passing plays. Tunei with two good plays in skeleton drills earlier.
  6. Penton tweeted Unamba in at SAM now and Randle back on the corner. How many people are there today? Had a night shift so I might go for the second half of practice.
  7. Great news about the website and stats. Glad they got a new TV deal, but we just finished talking about how they're only showing a couple of preseason games on TV. Financially this deal I'm sure is good for the league and for TSN, but I would have been interested to know if others were seriously interested in it. TSN's panel is awful and some of their game coverage is brutal too. The addition of LaPolice to actually do film breakdown was a step in the right direction. Granted, sometimes competition doesn't even make it better. SportsNet's hockey coverage is awful.
  8. Whenever the next TV contract comes up, broadcasting preseason games should be mandatory. TSN has five freaking channels. I understand the money aspect of producing a football game and especially preseason, but you think it would help grow the game. Doesn't even have to be a full production either.
  9. Was really hoping for bleachers, but other than the first day there should be plenty of space.
  10. I think he's got a good chance to make an impact. He was an extremely productive rusher at Missouri. The NFL hates 'tweeners, but I think its a good fit up here for him - assuming they don't ask him to cover a lot. Don't think he's got enough speed to cover consistently.
  11. Leggett is so good (in contention for best in the league) at safety that I would prefer to see Waggoner at WIL. I think he can fit in well there, considering it's become more of a DB spot, and I don't want to move Leggett away from the back of this defense. He's got a solid coverage range that we've lacked for awhile.
  12. It's a good move for the CFL and for the Argos. Finally the league doesn't need to worry about the sale or future of the team continually. Also, Rogers is awful.
  13. I understand why they can't use the stadium, but that really, really sucks. It's basically a tradition for my family to head out and catch a few training camp practices while enjoying the weather. I've been inside the soccer complex and the field beside it. It's nice but this is going to change the experience for fans a lot. Hopefully they get decent seating somewhere for us.
  14. I know some people are really curious about the Morgan pick, but to me Richards will be someone who's career I hope goes better than I think. There's lots to like about him but he strikes me as a really raw player. Watched some clips of him just now. Showed good tracking ability on deep routes, certainly uses his size well. Hopefully it works out for him, he'd be a tremendous asset.
  15. I'd be interested in dropping down a couple of spots, nothing too major, and then being able to take Demski there while adding an extra pick. Hard to pull that off though, I don't think many teams want to jump to 2.
  16. I think they would be smart to stream it for free on TSN.CA after last years debacle, altho if i remember correctly, last years draft was kind of a gong show even on TV. Cohon only made the first pick then took off, nowhere to be seen after the panel asked him about the CBA. They would be smart to offer it for free since the CFL needs all the exposure it can get, but TSN is also ridiculous about locking everything down now for Bell and Rogers to make their money.
  17. Will they be streaming it online for everyone or just ones that pay for a TSN approved cable company?
  18. I still fault a lot more problems last year to the personnel. Bad OL, many injuries, terrible running back play. I think MB will have the offense playing well this year.
  19. These rule changes still suck. I don't think there's much reason to go for 1 point converts now. There was already a whole bunch of data supporting going for 2 more frequently, though most of it in the NFL. Maybe its just me, but I didn't really think there was a problem with the convert. I feel like the CFL looked at the NFL and decided that since they were evaluating making changes they should too...and then decided to just go out and do it before the NFL did to look cool.
  20. A lot of these sound gimmicky and will cheapen the game.
  21. He stands 6'5" and weighs 215 lbs. Could be a FB for the Bombers. He worked out as a receiver and will do the same for the esks He has the athletic pedigree, and if he makes it in the CFL, maybe with the Bombers, it would be the second CFL/NHL brother combo. For a guy who didn't play any college football I find it hard to believe he is a CFL contender... if he was that good why didn't Dobie recruit him (or maybe he did and decided to play bball instead?)... this could just be a case of the name getting a try-out... My guess is that he just felt he was better at basketball and so chose that for college. Who knows? Nothing wrong with taking a look, either way. Ya he was pretty good at basketball. He played college ball at Brandon and then looked around Europe for a pro deal for a bit.
  22. Pretty sure he wants an X receiver as an import from the free agent camps, not the draft. Its possible, but the article was discussing Canadian WRs in the draft. No it was discussing both the Canadian draft and the free agent camp. Several issues discussed in one article. Read it again. The part about the X receiver is under the free agent camp section. think it is nonspecific enough to refer to either Canadian or American receivers playing the X spot.

  24. I can't see us taking Demski but the homer aspect of it makes it kind of cool. Sounds from the article though that Walters would be more interested in an X receiver and that is likely not going to be a spot Demski plays.
  25. I'd lock him down for another three or four years.
