No one. I'm happy with willy still being on the team. I don't want him cut at all. just wondering what the justification is for most people to cut him vs those that want to keep him

Thanks. I guess you can make the argument that you could spend the 120K on and import American olinemen to solidify that which makes the team as a whole better. If you can get a game breaker olinemen for 120K you need to sign him don't you? but i guess Willy could have a 6 game injury if it got to that point and take his salary off the SMS

How so? How does it not matter? We aren't at the mid mark of the season yet, which means we could effectively cut him and spend 200 000 on better imports(whether we can find them is another matter)? I don't want to cut willy regardless, but you aren't stating why.

Willy is not useless, as he has shown flashes that he can be good, but that is now over a season ago isn't it? Using that logic, printers would still be in the league as a few seasons ago he looked outstanding in BC. :/ Don't cut willy unless we can't lower his price tag after the season is over. If at that time he is not the starter and hasn't been for a while then you have to reconsider all our options for backup QBs. Trying to cut willy in the middle of the season is pretty dumb. I think anyone suggesting that isn't thinking it through. If nichols is out or sucks, then we go to willy. If he continues to play like he did earlier in the season then you have cause to go to davis and bennet. But we all can not ignore that with Nichols, the team looks completely different and he is a large part of that turn around

Right. And IF(big if) Nichols makes the most of this opportunity and becomes the starter we have been looking for, then him out playing willy is the sole reason he has taken the Job. And this ist he way it should be. Khari outplayed bell and replaced him and glenn replaced Khari when glenn was better. Its the only thing you can hope for and currently things are looking up for us.. That may change this week, but i'm happy we are winning and demolished the tiger cats last week.

Well i agree we need depth at the QB position and we may have been screwed if Nichols was not here. We would most likely still be using Willy vs Davis and Bennet. That being said, in his current State is Willy better then Brohm? I'm not so sure. I think Willy has it in him to me much better then Brohm or perhaps even nichols, but something is wrong and if he can't fix it, it don't believe he provides much depth. Experience yes, thats worth something, but the inability to effectively move the ball wipes that out. I don't think we cut willy. Things being the same at the end of the year, i think we need to try and renegotiate willy's contract into a backup acceptable salary with bonuses for playing time/wins (like i preferred initially). Things may be complete different then and willy could have regained form, nichols could suck or Bennet or Davis may have been given a chance and are running with it. For now, I have optimism for each upcoming game, which i haven't felt in a while.

For me personally, the biggest difference between the games was that in the second game we were stretching the field and placing the ball in the recievers hand and hitting them in stride. There was a confidence with the team that it could do what it wanted and they did just that. The defence played well in both games but had alot les time to rest on the bench between playing. The field position is another factor i admit, but in the second game we scored almost at will. We didn't do that in the first game as our long throws connected vs the first game where they didn't.

I agree. He was one of the bright lights last year surrounding the dark clouds blocking out the sun. He may not be the best, but he is still pretty good and reliable. Maybe he looks great in the new offence. The offence i saw last night in the beginning of the game was what i was hoping for at before the season started.

I'm hoping and thinking that with Nichols starting, it should take alot of pressure off Willy and if willy enters the game due to injury or poor play from Nichols that he will go in with a nothing to lose mentality which may settle him down and let him throw deep and let his body do the thinking instead of his head.

sooo...as i said a few times over and was raked over the coals for it, we should have given willy a base salary with performance bonuses to make him a 400K + QB.. But alot of posters here said here that we could just cut him if he wasn't worth the money. You were all wrong. If we were paying him 250K we wouldn't have any pressure to cut him to recover salary. He would be okay at 250k per year as a 1a, 1b qb for us. But if nichols plays better then willy then we will have to try and renegotiate his contract or cut him outright instead of sticking with him to see if he can recover in a backup role. My worst fear is that willy is cut/traded and is able to become a star in on a team with a better oline / recieving core or where there isn't as much pressure on him But what i'm really angry about is that we ******* suck and have for as long as i remeber and dont see it changing. No one can seem to figure out what the **** is wrong with this franchise. I still remeber thinking how lucky we were not to be hamilton the few years where they were 3-15 for a couple of years in a row.

i've been loving this team since i was a kid. I'm so beaten down, that i no longer feel anger when we loose. I expect it i guess. but i used to be really mad when we lost or played shitty.. Now.. I'm apathetic. I no longer feel attachment to the team or involved at all. Last night i stopped watching to watch Big Brother and then came back and watched/fast forwarded the game. Is this the 8th year of the rebuild since berry was here??? I know we are joking about taman, but, as much napkins as he wrote one, he had this team fielding competitive teams and we haven't been one since then. Mike Kelly did better with less talent which is frightening.

Firing Coaches isn't the answer? We Changed Gms, Coaches, Players, qb, Presidents and even a ******* stadium. So apparently changing everything hasn't made a difference so are you suggesting we don't do anything? The coach runs the show, The gms bring in the players and hires the coach, the president hires the gm. So.. The gm has not brought in enough good players to make a difference yet (qb, reciever whatever) so thast on the gm. The GM hired the coach and he is failing. Only one possible outcome, you replace the people failing. A coaching change has a possible positive outcome. so i think you do it if you figure you are going to fire them anyhow.. Whats the worst that happens? you continue to lose? I'm not in firing anyone mode yet, but i care less and less about football each week as i'm not excited as i don't think we can win until something changes (players playing better, replaced, something)

The past doens't always predict the future.. Lapo called vanilla offensive schemes last go around, and this go around he seems to be mixing it up a alot and leaving the defense confused at times.. Lucky for the defense, our qb has issues connecting with recievers.

How do you know though since the qb can't get the ball into their hands. Harris is as productive as Roberts with less dazzle. Milt was a superstar for sure but Brazil was hit or miss and Armand Bruce showed well but left.
