Is Henoc Muamba pi**ing away his football career?
Adrenaline_x replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
His quick jump to montreal was based solely on contract length wasn't it? He wanted another shot at the NFL and montreal contract length gave him that. Maybe not bled blue and gold. but he sure worked hard on every play regardless of the circus that was going on around the team. -

Right. Even 500 000 can be life changing. He can make twice as much down there on a PR as he might make playing every game up here . He has a limited window to make his dream come true so why give up on it. he is a great mlb. But he is also cdn so he is worth a lot to any team. He played in the nfl and made some serious cash which probably allows him to wait for the contract that he wants. like I said I don't get the hate on for someone we all really liked when he was here. He bled blue and gold and played hard every down for us. Can't ask for much more. -

I don't get the hate. He is a CFL high perfoman CANADIAN Line backer. You can't fault anyone for going after a life changing payday in the big show that is the NFL. Anyone here would do the same. Loyalty only plays a small part. I've been with a company for 9 years, and would leave if someone offered me 20 000$ more per year. I wouldnt even stop to think about it all things being equal. Working enviroments, co-workers all play into that decisions but really most people are going to go where the money/opportunity is. The whole tour thing came off as egotistical but we only really knew about it from the insiders/media types that were reporting on it. I really think someone would have to be really stupid NOT to reach out to each club/employer to see what they are offering for wages and what kind of environment they would be walking into. Do i Care if Muamba signs here? No.. not really. If he makes us alot stronger at MLB and helps the ratio at the same time, i would be willing to put up with alot **** before cutting/passing on him. Its all about winning. everything else matters less. -
Around The League Off Season Discussion
Adrenaline_x replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
More like Jones may not be as well liked by the players they are trading for. Seems more then coincidence that 2 players have choosen retirement over playing for a new coach who gutted the team and looks to be setting up for a tough season. -
hefney signs 1-day contract, retires a bomber
Adrenaline_x replied to Taynted_Fayth's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
i guess. but it irks me that a player that mocked the team when they left and continued to mock them until he couldn't play anymore come back to the team. Not a big deal.. just seems pretty strange. -
hefney signs 1-day contract, retires a bomber
Adrenaline_x replied to Taynted_Fayth's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Unnecessary? No.. i actually want to know why someone, who has played on two other teams for two full seasons wants to come back and retire a bomber after bashing the team after they left. Why would he want to retire a bomber and why would we want to let him? I think its a valid question. -
IF he's as good as everyone thinks he is, and he has been playing with higher caliber players for the last few years (practise roster, whatever) shouldnt he be worth more then the 1st overall pick since he is a know quality? Good enough to make NFL teams but not stick, vs a guy that didn't make the nfl at all and may tank in the cfl?

Riders Unveil Video of new Stadium
Adrenaline_x replied to ALuCsRED's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
If it resembles what it does in the pictures its going to be a gorgeous stadium.. I like ours but i don't feel its anything special and is lacking some things like room to walk in the upper and lower decks. Once the game starts it doesn't matter tho. -
Oh boy, someone else thinks Tebow could make it here

It says john smith? -
I really don't get the pessimism about the first 6 games. Does it really matter when we lose to those teams seeing as some assume we will lose those games? the only teams i see being weak are the riders (blown up) and montreal. Maybe TO and BC depending on how Ray and Lulay/Jennings start off the year. I think we have made major improvements to our team at some of our weakest links.. Lapo is an upgrade over MB not matter if you like him or not. This time around Lapo has A good Qb vs brink, elliot, pierce. We have an all star RB (assuming he doesn't get hurt) and Upgraded from Moore (always hurts) with Dressler and Smith. We have some potentially better linemen as well. Its yet to be seen if Edmonton will be any good without Jones and co, BC is a question mark at QB, Sask is in rebuild mode and Calgary has a new Head coach but i don't expect them to drop off. If Ray struggles in TO, then Harris is not there to carry the team. Hamilton should continue to excel with Collaros back in the saddle. Montreal hasn't really improved at QB at all but i do expect Ottawa to continue where they left off last year with Harris to take over if Burris struggles. So that's what three teams in the league that should continue winning this season ? (Cal,Ott,Ham) So.. Really I think all those teams are beatable, but we will need to see what we got when the bullets start flying with all the new pieces the bombers have added... We may loose more games then last year but i think that will take a few strings of bad luck and injuries. since we would have been 9-9 if we had medlock last year converting as he did last year.

time to buy some jerserys when i save up my allowance.

Meh... I wouldn't blame anyone for being disillusioned with MB last year.

We have nichols.. Possibly the best backup in the league? Or issue has been with the players around willy and the play calling. If we run a quick hitting offence we shouldn't have to worry as much about willy getting hit and we should be more productive
-
Disaggree. 300k may be too much for and import, but if he is the best in the league then its probally worth it. Look.. Our team is horrible and has been horrible for a long time. Only Sask was worse last year and they have blow the thing up and released 20 plus players. Stop taking the slow and cheap option.. it hasn't been working.. Overpay to get the best assests possible. If that means our backups are paid less and maybe not as good.. then so be it. the drop off on backups will not be as significant as the starters
-
Laurent. = Spend the money.. If he is the game breaking, dominant D-Lineman that everyone says he is, sign him and keep him long term. Doug brown made a huge difference for us and was constantly being double teamed and that lead to other D-Lineman getting to the QB. If he is a good as everyone says (i don't know enough about him) then you go after him hard and sign him even at and inflated price. For me, the offence is the weakest part on the team and we need a big boost here.. Either Harris as a game breaking RB and Canadian, spend the money, and some recievers. Going cheap on different pieces has not WORKED for how many years. Identify the key pieces we need and spend the money even if that means over paying.. They is little risk involved here. If they don't work out you can cut them and their salary.

Nichols signs 1 year deal with Bombers
Adrenaline_x replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
He almost did as much as willy with the same horrible offence and had us in games into the dying seconds. I'm not sure what else you can ask from a backup? Maybe if we could land a starting qb like Ray to be a backup here that would be awesome. But I don't see any other starters that are better willing to become a backup. Recruiting the the next starting star qb should still be on the pressing to do list, but the combo of will and Nichols should show a lot better with lapo then it did with Brohm and marve. -
I like Willy a lot but he's got a ways to go before he's at the level Pierce was when the Bombers signed him. Our receivers are a lot worse than they were when Lapo was here and it's up for debate how good the OL was because our qbs got the crap beaten out of them last year too so I don't know how you can sit there and say "we're so much better than last time!" We might be better, but a lot of that rests on the coaching, and Lapo has a bad record getting Bomber qbs killed. Pierce was broken when he got here.. He was a shell of his former self. I think willy has shown more then pierce did in his time here and was able to take a hit until the season ending hit. Re-read my comments. I said "I think the Oline has been upgraded, if only marginally" not a ringing endorsement is it? No where did i state that "we're so much better than last time!" But i did say the he had some talented recievers to work with.. i've only said that the qb appears to be dratically improved. Stop applying your own agenda/bias to other peoples comments.

I don't really like or dislike the hiring of Lapo. It kinda Meh to me as anything is better then what we had. The positives i see about the LAPO hire is that he has shown that he can run a productive offense when there is talent at the QB position.. But he has also struggled to adapt to shitty QBs.. We have gone off the board with OCs and failed horribly. The Management can not afford to risk hiring an up and comer that may fail horribly. The rest of the team has done their part and kept us in games when the offense was consistently going 2 and out. The last time around Lapo had Buck Pierce and a shitty o-line to work with and some talented receivers to work with. I think the Oline has been upgraded, if only marginally since the last time he ran the offence and the QB position appears to been drastically improved with willy (time will tell). If Brohm and Marve had not been the QB for those several weeks after Willy got hurt i feel we would have won some of the games and been in the playoffs. But. The Offense was so predictable that i was calling out run plays before the ball was snapped. I think Lapo is probably the best OC available and has the potential to be great here this time around. But its far from a sure bet.

Which of you posters will be at the GREYCUP 15 game?

I'm in the suites today. Should be a fun day! -
I want planning on going and cannot afford the ticket prices But I did score two tickets in a suite at the 40 yard line so I will now be attending I'm really hoping Ottawa wins as they have had to watch horribleness teams for a long time and then lost, gained, lost and gained their team back.

It's not just Winnipeg. Almost no one keeps HC's who don't make the playoffs for 2 years in a row. Almost no HC's who've started with 2 losing seasons have ever turned it around even on other teams. You're talking continuity on a 5 win team? You really want to continue in the same vein? Another season of hoping to luck into the last playoff spot and go with the old 'anything can happen in the playoffs' scenario? I don't, Yes... we need a winning record or at least a 9-9 record before we go for continuity. Find folks who can win and stick with them is better than find folks who people like but aren't winning and stick with them. This seem incredibly short sighted. In previous years i would be calling for a HC change. But i realize now that doing exactly what i wanted hasn't helped the team at all. .Firing Berry was a mistake and getting rid of Glenn was a mistake. Canning Lapo was a mistake as the GM was horrible and didn't replace players that sucked.. Elliot, brink, Pierce etc etc. The oline has been and continues to be a weak spot. We were right in the games against Calgary and Edmonton into the dying seconds of the game.. With a different kicker we beat Edmonton. What this shows to me, that the head coach is not the problem. The Players are fighting all out to the last second of the game and not giving up. The play calling on offence has been horrible and we have had unservicable qb Between willy going down and Nichols coming in. Thats not on oshea. Thats on Walter. MB has caused the majority of the issues on the offence and should be replaced and see how the team does next year. If Oshea Doesnt Fire MB at the end of the season then Oshea should go as well as he doesn't see the major issue remaining with the team. Head Coaching is not the issue with the team.. The talent level on offence continues to be subpar and the play calling (running up the gut on 2nd and xx) is obvious. Oshea should stay as the player he has are playing all out every game. The offence can't move the ball the majority of the time..
