Much better effort by BC to get fans interested

The Rugby roots... Once the anti-rouge-ists are allowed one concession they will keep coming until the rouge is eradicated from the Canadian landscape. As for the idea that the rouge “rewards failure” I would like to turn to Toronto Argonauts broadcaster Mike Hogan and his rebuttal via his Twitter account to such fallacy: “Going back to the game’s rugby roots, the rouge rewards the team for the 5-10 plays to get into a position to have the ball cross the goal line. It’s a reward for gaining field position, not for failure.” https://www.cfl.ca/2020/03/03/cauz-defence-rouge/

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL

Those numbers were sent to the accounting firm Twelve Plus One in Saskatchewan. Results are forthcoming, or first coming, depending on who does the write up. -
Who doesn’t love the rogue? 😁 There is no need to do an end around on the rouge. It’s part of our unique version of professional football. When I first starting watching the CFL, it was the game itself that piqued my interest. The peculiarities and all. And yes, the rouge may be considered odd, but it’s our odd, and most people who follow the CFL understand the reasons behind it. It’s Canadian and most are entertained by every aspect of our game. And that’s my point. In fact, it’s all our point. Let’s keep it.

Four XFL ideas the CFL should adoptBy Josh Smith - 1) Kickoffs - The rule, which sees the coverage and return teams line up five yards from one another on the receiving team’s 35 and 30-yard lines, respectively, is the future of kickoffs in football. I reject this one.2) Converts - removes the kickers. Teams scrimmage from the three, five, or 10-yard line depending on if they want to go for one, two or three (yes, three) points after scoring a touchdown. Again, I reject this.3) Double forward pass - The gist is that if the ball is thrown behind the line of scrimmage it can be thrown again, whether the first pass was forward or a lateral. I double object to this one too.4) Transparency- One of the things a lot of CFL fans have complained about is the lack of transparency with most things, but especially with officiating and replay reviews. The XFL opened the door for the CFL to walk through by putting the replay booth on TV, allowing fans to see what goes into making a decision. You might not always agree with the call, but at least we will know why the call was made. It does appear the league is looking into it, which is good. I wouldn’t object to thisThese rules were introduced, IMO, because the NFL has some boring rules and ideas, and these changes try to overcome them. Gimmicky. The CFL has flaws but these measures won’t improve our game. https://3downnation.com/2020/03/01/four-xfl-ideas-the-cfl-should-adopt/

If Edmonton Eskimos president Chris Presson gets his way there could be a new wrinkle to the CFL on TSN broadcasts this season. If you’ve watched any of the XFL games, or an AAF game last season before they folded, odds are you’ve noticed those leagues have handled video replay differently from a broadcast perspective. Unlike the current set up for the CFL and NFL where broadcasts generally go to commercial breaks, in the XFL you can hear the conversation between the official on the field and the video replay official. In Presson’s mind, giving the viewers the chance to hear the conversation brings a breath of honesty to video review. Presson can push for change because he’s a part of the CFL’s innovation committee, the same group that’s looking at potentially changing the CFL playoff format. https://3downnation.com/2020/02/29/eskimos-president-chris-presson-in-favour-of-xfl-style-video-replay/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter I think the CFL could try this..at least in pre-season.

“Savagers will point out the product has been mundane. Although there has been an attempt to spice up blah with lots of mic’ed-up coaches and players, announcers have been too “rah-rah.” If sideline reporters have to be seen, they should not be heard. Sparsely-filled stadiums cannot be that noisy and players responses to cliched questions have been meh”. - Barry Horn https://www.forbes.com/sites/barryhorn/2020/02/26/xfl-tv-ratings-are-headed-in-the-wrong-direction-for-a-league-that-wants-to-hang-around/#fe0637c2018e Yes, I agree with this guy. - Pointing out crowd noise? Yeah maybe in one stadium - Sideline interviews? Pretty bad. And useless - Rah rah announcers? Tryin* real hard. Too hard. -
