D.Y.K. All the CFL writers (6) are unanimous in their choices in who will win their games this weekend in three out of four matches. Only Montreal-Calgary is split. They have Hamilton over Edmonton. BC over Toronto. And Saskatchewan over Winnipeg. I still feel we can win if the game plan suits our team...

Well, that’s pretty creepy.. that is, how you got my voice.

Play time is over for the Bombers. Now is the time to put the Big Boy pads on and get back some of that swagger we so easily gave up these last couple of games. It’s serious now. Win, and nipeg fits in nicely. Lose..well, we don’t want to go to that ugly part of sports and yakety-yak talk. We only want to be talking one sport, for now, at this time of year, and the Bombers have to make it Football. Get focused..play Bomber football...and take back 1st place. That’s all we ask ...for now.

D.Y.K. Penalties Didn't Matter Much Last Week: In CFL Week #16, all 4 winning teams actually drew MORE Penalties than their opponents which seems odd. But 2019 data shows that this isn't surprising at all - for 2019 overall, winning teams have drawn more penalties than the losing team more often - 29 times compared to 26 by losing clubs. Turnovers DID Matter Last Week: In CFL Week #16, winning teams committed just TWO Turnovers compared to 11 by losing clubs. Of the 120 total points scored by the 4 winners, 26 of those points came off Opponent T/Os (22% of the total). CFL Game Notes...

D.Y.K. The Bombers have signed LB/DB Sam Williams to the active roster but future?? 2019-10-02 WPG WILLIAMS, Sam LB A East Texas Baptist University Add To Active Roster (Future)

Hmm, an elite receiver in a non-elite receiver run offence? It took 16 weeks to get one of our receivers 10 receptions...and 144 yards...Kenny Lawler, and we lost. It would take a complete reversal of the OC’s game plans, and that ain’t going to happen.

Brandon Alexander’s insert into our lineup is HUGE. He very well could be the one that makes that difference we need at safety. He can also do that chicken dance...and back it up.

D.Y.K. #Bombers DC Richie Hall isn't at practice today. The team says he's away to deal with a personal matter. #wfp Apparently, there was nothing to prevent him from leaving.. (We all hope, it’s nothing serious)

Matt Nichols, from same interview, fully believes he’s in the prime of his career and that this setback will not affect his future performance. Couple that with the fact O’Shea remains a staunch supporter of his means that off season negotiations, going forward, will definitely include Nichols. If you take into consideration the regard they have for McGuire, that might mean Streveler is the odd man out..depending on how Streveler feels about the situation. If Nichols stays, that could mean our current offensive schemes remain the same..as frustrating as they are. Of course, that depends who is running the offence as OC. I’d say buckle up, as we could be in for a rough ride next year, as I don’t expect too many returnees, whether we win it all or not this year. On the other hand, if we do buckle up, that means Pierce is running the Offence, and I don’t think I’d mind that. 🙂

Soon, all teams will figure out what Hamilton did to us by adding extra linemen and throwing quick passes. But will we continue to throw extra bodies right back at them? Or do we figure to throw less bodies at them (say 3 in rotation) and take away those quick passes? We couldn’t get near Evans before he threw those passes because we abandoned the areas where he threw them. What if we didn’t abandon those areas and forced his hand? Those plays wouldn’t work any longer, and those are the ones that killed us last game.

What is this, the bye week? Excuse me for loose finger tapping..

These facts are depressing, if not distressing.

I can’t wait to hear the words “we’re going in a different direction” in regards to the release of their defensive coordinator. Hall’s philosophy is not working for us. As to the offensive coordinator, I’m assuming (ok, hoping) that he will be hired away from us. There will be no standing in his way this time. When LaPo is on his game, there is nobody better. But, his game only covers 30 minutes or so. Why he doesn’t see the same things as us common fans see, is a mystery to me. As to O’Shea, I believe he is still protected, but the uncomfortable feeling he must be feeling comes from the rope being tightened, on each side, from his coordinators. Now is the time for O’Shea to snap that whip he holds because his Coaches aren’t getting it done, and ultimately, that means him. He’s got to realize that, as it stands, this is possibly a one shot opportunity, and the team has to be at its best. The preparation for that last game shows we weren’t. He owns that. All is not lost, but geebus, now is the time to step up. Don’t give me that “we made too many mistakes” line, because we don’t want to hear that anymore. O’Shea, you’re the leader. Lead.

My fondest wish is that we use those 4 yard check down passes as they were intended..not as a part of the offence.

Hearing Bob Cameron on the pregame show reminds me what a great football mind he had. He was constantly involved in reminding Coaches what the situation was and perhaps offering solutions. Really, he was like an extra Coach. Sooo valuable.

The likelihood is in the neighbourhood of not happeningville and not goingthereville.

And they would give the ball to McGuire. O’Shea said as much on the pregame show. They only offered Glenn the number 3 spot when they first talked. McGuire’s is well thought of...
-
Experienced back up QB? They do have Kevin Glenn’s number. Makes sense. Think about it.
