Its Time To Hand The Ball To Willie Jefferson
Mr Dee replied to Zontar's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Still laughing at two Professional football teams playing on an 80 yard field and were serious about it. Still revelling in a victory on an opponent’s home field without our starting QB in a battle for 1st place. Still in awe of a defensive performance that I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. Willie Jefferson drove our team and, going forward, sets us up beautifully to wreak havoc on opponents who will shudder playing that front seven. Defensive Player of the week...easily. -
Maybe not but it’s pretty hard to stop a stallion after he gets going. Besides, I’d expect LaPo to add a few more wrinkles to the offence to include Whitehead and Demski etc. That should give pause to any defence that wants to commit early.

Its Time To Hand The Ball To Willie Jefferson

He’s a snap dragon. -
I was thinking safety right off the bat because we never had control of the ball and it was an Eskimo decision to knock it out of bounds. They last had possession but the officials ruled because it was kicked in, it was a rouge. Would it have mattered if it was closer to the end zone and the ball was bounced around and the Eskimo player then knocked the ball out? It just doesn’t seem right that a marvellous strip fumble ends up with the Eskimos getting the ball back at their own 35 and it only cost them 1 point..

This is exactly the kind of game we could have expected from Streveler. He, and Harris provided just the right amount of ‘who gets it this time’ kind of offence. Both had 6.8 yard averages. The game was poker. The bluff was on. The wild card was Streveler. We can win with this because Streveler will settle down and the passing game will come. In the meantime, thank goodness for a knock ‘em dead defence and a solid special teams..

I’m still trying to figure out that ruling in the end zone where we get 1 point after their player knocked it out of bounds.

4 tackles, 3 QB sacks, 1 knockdown, 2 forced fumbles. I can’t recall a better performance than that. Willie Jefferson!
-
That was a fumble..

Maybe Cody Fayardo’s grandfather had something to do with it..🙂

More two and outs.. Too confusing for an OC who like 4 yard passes..

So...Eskimos Bombers tonight ...the new Battle of Alberta? - Morley Scott 👁🗨Wow, 44 less penalties (414 yards) than Edmonton. Let’s hope that ratio continues tonight.. The Bombers have been nailed for a league-low 67 penalties this season, totalling 599 yards. The Eskimos have a league-high 111 penalties, covering 913 yards.

Bits and Pieces (Game Notes) This week, Michael O'Shea will record his 100th career regular season game as the Bombers' head coach - he will be only the 3rd man to reach the 100 game mark: Bud Grant 160 (102-56-2) and Cal Murphy 138 (86-51-1). Mike Miller had 2 Special Teams Tackles last week and is now tied for #5 all-time at 175, 9 behind 2nd place...Wade Miller The Bombers are #2 in the CFL in the % of their offensive plays that are rushes - 42% runs vs 58% pass calls (SSK #1 at 45%0. After 8 straight games with 10+ penalties, Edmonton incurred just 6 penalties last week vs Toronto. Edmonton is #1 in the CFL in yards per play on Offence (6.9 yards) and #1 on Defence at just 5.3 yards per play. T. Harris has another INT-free streak going at 169 in a row; he has thrown just 2 interceptions in his last 423 pass attempts. Andrew Harris did not catch a pass last week and in fact was not targeted at all for the first time this year. Justin Medlock leads the CFL with 6 punts inside the 10-yard line and with 36 of his 56 were directed "Outside the Numbers".

All the announcers are sure making sure that WINNIPEG is mentioned at least once every few minutes...prominently.
-
Raiders? And patches? Of course they were good with it.

Expedia? No Dr Trivalgo? Sacrilege. And what’s with the variety of commercials? How can we sing along when there’s so much variety? But I do see they have boring interviews too..
-
Speaking of research. Damned lucky we don’t use meters instead of yards. They’d be so damned confused they’d play on a 60 yard field with 10 players..so it would be easier to divide the yardage per player. 🏈
-
I’m looking more at the play by play announcers and can’t understand why they’re talking about the game, players and backgrounds. Where’s the nicknames? Where’s the deep, deep analysis of what the players are thinking? Where the shots of the food they’re going to eating at half time? Amateurs..

Yeah, that was predictable with our chosen offence. We'll have to combine two receiver totals to reach a thousand. The only category where we might hit a thousand, besides Harris, is two-and-outs. Or, so it seems.
-
I want the Bombers to be in attack mode, both on Offence, and Defence.

So...Eskimos Bombers tomorrow night ...the new Battle of Alberta? - Morley Scott

The question of Streveler’s abilities and shortcomings won’t be judged solely by that interception because, clearly, it was knocked up in the air by a defender and an easy catch for anyone. That can happen to any QB.
-
It's time to hand the ball to Streveler.

Odds and Sods - BC Lions vs Blue Bombers
Mr Dee replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I was specifically watching Bighill after he was being raked on this board, and I watched, in amazement, how far back Bighill went on that play. He was probably the 3rd deepest Bomber. Definitely not the traditional MLB position. I don't necessarily agree that Bighill isn’t doing well mainly because I don’t know what they’re asking him to do. It’s just that here, when somebody offers an opinion, that opinion may be carried forward as gospel because they read it somewhere. Then it is repeated, and suddenly Bighill is a bum, or injured, when, really he just doing his assignment?
