  1. Motivated? Yeah let’s have a breakout game, eh Chris Matthews.. “So it’s all about going out there and making it happen, man. Things happen, it’s a rough start for me but hopefully that was the final one that made me sit down and now I can go out there and actually contribute the way I want to contribute.” T. Wyman - Sun
  2. Not saying wouldn’t that be nice? but....yeah well, I guess I am saying that. 🤭
  3. Mike O’Shea says “all players battling nicks and bumps are “good,” but will not make a determination on anyone.” Must be frustrating as hell, knowing you have to ask the question, but also knowing you’ll get... O’Shea speak - current:
  4. Wow, I’m seeing consensus picks for Calgary and Winnipeg for wins this weekend, with a little doubt Edmonton at Montreal, but there is all kinds of head scratching in who’s going to win the BC Saskatchewan game. Votes are pretty well split down the middle, for the media and fan bases, even with the game being played in Sask. Aside from the Bomber game, this will be my must see game on the weak’end of the schedule.
  5. 1) Current - “O’Shea speak” 2) In the past - O’Shea spoken” 3) In the future - see #1
  6. , I do think he is getting credit for his position though. Comparing to Grymes and Roberson using completion rates is more so flattering because of where he is playing. It’s pointed out that penalties and other occurrences are where the problems lie. Now Fenner has shown he is able to bounce back from difficult outings and the position is relatively new to him. If he tightens up, he could solidify that side. These games against, shall we say, weaker opponents are just what he needs..
  7. Despite being 4-0 Some food for thought... I wasn’t pleased with our defensive play the other night, but overall, I’m happy,” he said. “I’m encouraged by where we’re at right now. “… Like I told them, I’m happy for you guys that we won and everything, but I thought it was our worst outing defensively this year regarding being sharp, being focused, doing the things we need to do. “That started off in practice… I didn’t like the way we practiced last week and that carried over. I’m happy that we won, but we can’t have that kind of effort week in and week out and expect to win.” Richie Hall to Ed Tait 👁‍🗨And, this well explained article.. This is not so good.. After five weeks, the Bombers rank last in passing yards per game and seventh in passing yards against per game. They also have given up 27 20-plus yard completions, double than any other CFL team. And Winnipeg’s operating on short fields. Their league-best average starting field position is from the 41-yard line, nearly six yards higher than the league average. But When they’re on offence, it’s likely a two-and-out or a quick six. Winnipeg has 24 two-and-outs, the second-most in the league. But Winnipeg’s first in passing efficiency at 117.8 and Matt Nichols is first among starters with a 126 efficiency rating. Nichols’ 10 touchdowns to one interception largely plays into that. Below are Matt Nichols 2019 passing yards by quarter. 1st - 305 2nd- 294 3rd - 207 4th - 49. A whopping 70 per cent of Matt Nichols passing yards have come in the first half of Winnipeg’s four games. Winnipeg’s scoring early and cruising to victory. They’ve led all four games going into the fourth quarter by an average of 12 points. Nichols hasn’t needed to move the ball in the final frame yet and the 49 fourth-quarter passing yards shows just that. Perhaps the most alarming passing observation has been opponents’ tendencies to attack Winnipeg’s field-side through the air. Chandler Fenner’s been the poster boy of this, but neither Brandon Alexander or Derek Jones — albeit Jones in limited action — have fared well. Where it gets tricky is the fact that Fenner’s made some nice plays (but he’s also been horrific on some). He’s giving up a 62 per cent completion rate on balls thrown his way, which is a fine number considering players like Aaron Grymes and Tre Roberson are at 59 and 64 per cent. Consistency in coverage is the issue for Fenner. He’s breaking on balls well and has shown the strength to separate the ball from a potential pass-catcher. It’s just the frequent breakdowns — the stumbles and penalties — that are damaging Fenner’s name. https://lastwordoncanadianfootball.com/2019/07/16/winnipeg-blue-bombers-passing-yards-coming-early-against-field/
  8. Oh there was enough to blame in that Western Final, to go around, and Nichols needs to assume his share. But it starts with play calling because the QB has to follow those reads of that play. Calgary had a great defence last year and an even better game plan against us. You’d think that LaPolice would have expected that. But we ran the same offence as the Calgary defence expected. No Streveler packages to speak of, no misdirection, just same old, same old. Listen, I’m no defensive guru, but when I know what’s coming from out offence, then surely Calgary did...and they did. It was a decent defensive game, but we couldn’t stop Mitchell to Rogers (6 rec 3 TDs) and that was enough. Our crappy 3 yard passes to get 6 yards wouldn’t fool anybody, whether that came from Nichols or LaPolice. It was a winnable game..we just got out Coached IMO.
  9. Here we go... Let’s break down Week 5 in the CFL: https://www.cfl.ca/2019/07/16/accuracy-grades-target-week-5/?utm_source=dlvr.it
  10. Looks like it’s Kenny Walker’s turn to have a long return on Special Teams.. He’s out there fielding kicks today.
  11. Hardrick wearing jersey #1 Another sneaky move by the Bombers...
  12. OK. I think Roh will play, and Hecht, And Bighill. Briggs and a Hardrick will be out. Not sure about Whitehead though. I believe I heard that D. Davis is a little nicked up..hence the start for Jonathan Jennings.
  13. #Redblacks have some big injuries to deal with as well. DBs Antoine Pruneau (left hand in a cast) and Jonathan Rose are expected to be out long term, so is WR Seth Coate. #CFL Jennings in, these guys out...
  14. ‘Bout damn time..
  15. OK, so the Ticats have the bye this week in the CFL. Now, can we finally have the suspension meted out to Simoni Lawrence for that illegal hit way back on June 13th? It would coincide nicely with the Bombers visiting Hamilton on the 26th 😁
  16. Maybe they’ll have a Hop Dance to celebrate...😁
  17. And the answer This a an interesting, key veteran addition..
  18. In somewhat shocking news: I thought Temple was faring pretty good over the last little while. What happened?
  19. Turns out Mike Sherman wasn’t trying to get the headset off last year after all...he was looking for some envelopes..
  20. Personally, I love watching the CFL on TSN. on any night. I just hope the ratings numbers aren’t sliding like the attendance. A new TV deal, with a small bump from global markets, and we're good. More teams have to take the initiative like Edmonton did to get the younger fans into the stadium. I know that’s how I got hooked.
  21. 2/3 ain’t bad..
  22. Maybe not But, “There’s a Drink For That” - James Barker Band (no relation)
  23. For the win and all the good that came out of this game, this is what Ted Wyman reports: Fenner: “We’re definitely gonna get chewed out in the media room because it was an ugly win,” he said. “We’re not feeling relaxed at all. We were definitely humbled by this win. We didn’t anticipate it going the way it did and there were mistakes made. That’s not our standard. “They hold us to a very high standard here and all those mistakes will come up on film. That red dot will be on different players when they make mistakes. Nobody will be feeling good about watching this film.” “We’re never gonna be perfect,” Bombers coach Mike O’Shea said. “You need to try to be more perfect.” They managed only six first downs on offence and had just 69 passing yards and 61 rushing yards. The defence, which had not allowed a touchdown in two games (10 quarters overall), was picked apart by Argos QB McLeod Bethel-Thompson (388 yards, three TDs) and receiver Derel Walker (nine catches, 188 yards, two TDs And Nic Kowalski:
  24. Four things the league should change coming into 2019: 1) The Thursday night games are a dud in the stadiums. They may have provided a small bump in TV ratings, but Thursday nights don’t work anywhere when it comes to ticket sales and even worse, it makes things difficult for football ops with so many quick four or five day turnarounds between games. 2) Begin the season with divisional rivals. Seeing Saskatchewan in Hamilton or Montreal in Edmonton does nothing to get fans excited to come to the stadium. Always begin and end the season with rival games. Give the fans the best games to begin the season. 3) End the 8pm starts in the West. It’s difficult to bring families to the game when the final gun goes at 11pm at the earliest and it’s two-hours later in the eastern time zone so no one is watching. 4) Finally, play Sunday games until the NFL starts on Labour Day. Sundays are for pro football, let’s keep it that way. http://rodpedersen.com/out-of-the-tunnel-wild-times-in-the-cfl/ 👁‍🗨I agree that these points are relevant and do affect attendance to a large degree. I don’t know who all came up with these thoughts, but Odd Rod has put them out there to think about. The League should think about it..
  25. Things of beauty in a football game: Lucky Whitehead’s weaving his way through numerous Argo defenders with his vision and speed on route to an improbable TD. Lucky’s ability to change direction at full speed is incredible Andrew Harris and his 52 yard romp.. Those TD passes that Matt Nichols threw to Darwin Adams and Nic Demski. On the money. Nichols led the Bombers with an efficient passing performance, completing 18 of 24 passes for 209 yards and three scores. Mr Efficiency. Charles Nelson - 7 punt returns for 126 yards 6 pass knockdowns A tough goal line stand That defensive line- led by Jeffcoat- quite the performance. Having Stanley Bryant - the guy is stellar. Not given enough credit. The interception by Winston Rose 🌹 Nahh keep testing me 😏 he says
