I think that O’Shea and Walters set their limit on Loffler and followed through with their reasoning. They would have signed him at their price but not at a price that stretched their limit. Especially if they feel they had the next man up. That’s Free Agency. I almost feel they expected it. As for Chungh, money is not always the issue, especially for BC born Chungh. Were the Bombers willing to pay Chungh and compete with the home province. Doubtful. Sukhs, but that’s Free Agency too.

And now for something completely ridiculous..

Chris puts it succinctly: Pay the players, get back to the table and set things straight. This would go a long way towards a new agreement..

AAF players cannot sign with CFL teams (yet): “Only players who are free agents can attend free agent or mini-camps with CFL squads. For example, receiver and defensive back Terrell Sinkfield could ink a CFL deal because the Orlando Apollos released him. Conversely, cover man Ciante Evans was signed with the Salt Lake Stallions when the AAF folded and won’t be eligible until the legal issues are decided.” https://3downnation.com/2019/04/12/aaf-players-cannot-sign-with-cfl-teams-yet/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

Regarding Ambrosie and CFL 2.0; there is nothing there that p p s me. That is, pleases, or pisses me off. That’s all stuff that can be looked at in the future. But, I’ll say this, the CFLPA is handling the negotiations, in relation to media exposure, much better this time around, and is making the CFL looking like high-schoolers in their handling of press releases and keeping THE FANS uninformed. That has to change.

The ratified rule changes for 2019 include: Allowing the Command Centre to assist Referees with called and non-called roughing the passer penalties including instances where an obvious roughing the passer penalty was not called because a referee’s view was blocked. The ability for the Command Centre to upgrade a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty to a 25-yard penalty for a direct blow to the quarterback’s head or neck with the helmet when that player has a clear view to the quarterback, and there are no mitigating circumstances such as a quarterback ducking his head. Allowing the Command Centre to assist on-field officials in calling penalties when the injury spotter has intervened in a player safety situation. Allowing the Command Centre to assist on-field officials with called and non-called roughing the kicker penalties. Removing the stipulation that allows a defender to contact a kicker’s plant leg without penalty if the defender has touched the ball prior to contact. Clarifying the definition of spearing to be when a player uses the top of their helmet as the primary point of contact to deliver a blow to an opponent. Making the use of three or more wedge blockers on kicking plays illegal. Making it illegal for a defensive player to deliver a forcible blow to the long snapper while the snapper’s head is down and they are in a vulnerable position and unable to protect themselves. Whistling a play dead anytime a quarterback carrying the ball gives themselves up by sliding with any part of their body. Previously, a quarterback could only “give themselves up” by sliding feet-first. Coaches will be entitled to a second challenge if their first is successful, giving them a potential maximum of two per game instead of just one. A 10-yard objectionable conduct penalty will be assessed for faking or embellishing contact, otherwise known as diving. Spearing on any player will be upgraded to a 25-yard penalty by the Command Centre when a spear is delivered to the head or neck, the player has a clear view to the opponent and there are no mitigating circumstances such as the player ducking into what would otherwise be legal contact. If a player receives two 25-yard penalties in the same game, they will be disqualified from that game. A kicked or thrown football will remain a live ball instead of becoming a dead ball when it touches a goal-post ribbon.

Some more fancy football XFL style: “XFL commissioner Oliver Luck revealed the league’s plans on the post-touchdown conversion. A team can go for one, two, or three points, and will have one play from scrimmage (no kicking) to score.” https://thecomeback.com/nfl/xfl-announces-one-two-and-three-point-conversions-after-touchdowns.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

This bears repeating... CFL NEWS “Ontario is set to approve of U.S.-style tailgating outside stadiums and arenas.” TORONTO – “Sports fans in Ontario will soon be able to have a drink and tailgate before a game.” https://globalnews.ca/news/5140970/ontario-tailgating-amendment/ Bravo Ontario - Now we’re talking...

The idea of The Jon Ryan Express 2.0 is a romantic one indeed, but it should stay in the past. Sequels generally don’t outdo the originals. Besides, Medlock is fond of experimenting with finding new ways to punt the ball, as in getting different spins and bounces. He’s doing a great job at that. Anything to help our special teams. He wants to be here and he’s doing a great job. Let’s leave it that way..

Incredible curling this week from a number of teams, especially Japan, the Swiss, Sweden, and Canada. Everybody’s up to playing Canada and it shows. Great effort by Koe to get Canada to another final.

Pretty good...and awesome

Interesting look at the Bomber’s history in drafting from, of course, the entertaining Ed Tait...

Always room for another draft... (sic)

Following a weighted draft with all nine CFL clubs..

Could that mean in relation to total number of injuries? In other words, football has a greater number of injuries and “brain trauma” would be a lower percentage than a non-contact sport such as girls’ ringette or girls’ soccer for instance. ???

I have to ask. With the AAF folding, and a ton of players becoming available, does that put pressure on the CFLPA to get a deal done? OR Is it business as usual despite teams having more choices? AND Will the XFL have a wee tougher time signing players after this debacle?

Sheer coincidence...
