    Curling

Congrats to Kevin Koe and his team for a curling performance that was highlighted by fantastic shot making. To me, the Brier is the highlight of the curling season as it provides a platform for the best Canadian curlers to curl on some of the best ice surfaces in the world. This year’s Brier had some of the best shotmaking you’re going to see in curling. It’s no wonder either, as some of the best teams in the world were present. I appreciated the new format more this year because you really had to be the best to win this thing. The top 4 teams prevailed. Brad Gushue, Brad Jacobs, Kevin Koe and Brendan Bottcher were the best and proved it by attempting and making some of the best shots, on a consistent basis, that you’re going to see in curling. Any one of these 4 teams would represent Canada well in the upcoming Worlds, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. We’re in goods hands with The Kevin Koe team. PS - I must add that TSN did a great job of showing all the games and provided us with a great team of analysts who gave us, not only qualitative explanations, but entertained us as well. Well done!
  3. Couldn’t extra coverage be an option? Extra insurance and both the employer and player contribute. This would be the option for the player to chose. How many would?
  4. Negotiations begin Monday between the CFL and the CFLPA. Give and get. The players should get more, be it compensation and/or remuneration. But - they can’t get silly. The CFL is unique. Professional - Canadian home town unique. An Organization that has been around, in one form or another, for over 100 years. But - the CFL can’t only afford all the asks. And the League can’t ignore all the asks. Some of the demands from the CFLPA don’t take in the quandaries that the League has faced over the years, and will continue to face going forward. Hence CFL 2.0 Comparing the CFL with other professional leagues, for negotiations, simply cannot be done. All us CFL fans want is a fair negotiation process and understanding. From both sides. The season must not be jeopardized in any shape or form. Fan support and TV broadcasting are hinging on a fair resolution. Make it happen..
  5. Based on combine roster sizes these players will be in addition to the normal #CFL Combine setup and be there for exposure/experience. Not draft eligible but should add a fun feel to the national showcase.

We’re actually in negotiations right now on what could be our first real international broadcast partnership, and that came out of Mexico.” - Randy Ambrosie
  7. 700-800 people? Without pizza giveaways? FANtastic!
  8. It’s a tough decision...get a Bomber fix BUT have to listen to those commercials...
  9. BC - As Mike Reilly looks to reinvigorate the Lions’ fan base, the early results are encouraging with the team reporting its largest season ticket renewal rate since 2012 (Ed Willes, Vancouver Province). Calgary - Despite the Stamps losing a number of key pieces this off-season, odds-makers agree that Calgary remains the early-2019 Grey Cup favourite (Justin Dunk, 3 Down Nation). Winnipeg - Bombers GM Kyle Walters says Canadian receivers Daniel Petermann and Rashaun Simonise could make a strong push for more playing time next season (Ed Tait, BlueBombers.com). – If the Bombers opt to start a third American O-lineman in Manase Foketi, the club is well-equipped to start three Canadian receivers (John Hodge, 3 Down Nation). Ottawa - Rick Campbell says Dominique Davis is 1-A and Jonathon Jennings is 1-B as the team prepares for an open competition for the starting quarterback job (Tim Baines, Ottawa Sun).
  10. With the signing of Duron Carter earlier in the year, the BC Lions now have the biggest burger AND biggest hot dog in the league...
  11. 👁‍🗨 It seems to me that the Montreal Alouettes, with their new logo change and signings, the Toronto Argonauts, with their many press releases about signings, and the B.C. Lions with their press releases and season ticket push, are all making a concentrated effort to increase their fan bases. We’ll keep an eye on them and their attendance figures as the year goes on. Can only be good for the CFL in the long run.
  12. Here is a tracker for all the weeks played. 13. Sinkfield was playing DB in the #AAF. #CFL
  14. Perhaps they can work out something with Toronto FC...ticket wise. Or Exhibition Park attendees.
  15. Randy Ambrosie - according to flex..
  16. I would think that all contracts fall under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and since there is no agreement, there can be no breach. Contracts still have to be registered. There is no way the League, and its’teams, will backtrack on these bonuses. As has been mentioned, if something went wrong in the CFL this year, and bonuses were paid, who would pay back these bonuses? Ask Durant who would..
  17. Players have been peeved off since the league ordered teams to stop payment on signing bonuses and other off-season bonuses until a new collective bargaining agreement is hammered out. “To be fair, it happened before I arrived,” Randy Ambrosie said. “It was something that was in place.” The CFLPA will have to negotiate this clause out of this upcoming agreement.
  18. Eerie.. Brad Marchand is playing in his 666th NHL career game tonight. He has 666 career penalty minutes... and he’s playing against the Devils
  19. I’m thinking that the European countries that are interested will have their own standards - EU’Rules..so to speak.
  20. You should read the article.. “We talk to the PA quite regularly. We can walk and chew gum. People say, ‘Randy, why aren’t you staying home and focusing on fixing Toronto?’ I say, ‘This is fixing Toronto.’ We are only going to get people who are not CFL fans to be CFL fans in a world of big sports if we change the fundamental profile of who we are. We have to re-cast ourselves in a different way. We can’t be this small, loveable Canadian Football League. We have to think bigger. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome “My job is not to sit at my desk waiting for the phone to ring. My job is to create opportunities for this league to be more successful.” “There are five million football fans in France and now 100 kids playing football in CGEP in Quebec, with another eight players from Europe playing U football in the province. There are three times the number of kids playing tackle football in Mexico right now than currently registered in Canada. Across Europe there are 32 leagues playing American football in 30 countries. The CFL, hoping to capitalize on some of that, expects to announce a deal with a Mexican broadcaster soon – and possibly some European agreements, too – and is hoping to play at least one international game per season.”
