The “challenge” aspect of our game is broken. When a clear cut error is not spotted a Head Coach should not have to factor in which Quarter they’re in or what field position they’re at. If he’s right, on a challenge, why should he be punished by losing his challenge? If he’s wrong, by all means strip him of a challenge. Make him wear Chris Jones sunglasses for all I care, but let the Coach decide if he feels strongly about it. The Officials make them state what the challenge is anyways, so the fishing aspect is removed. It’s just wrong to lose your only challenge when an error has to be corrected for whatever reason.

QBs due to become free agents in Feb 2019: - Bo Levi Mitchell - Mike Reilly - Trevor Harris - Zach Collaros - Travis Lulay - Jonathan Jennings - Brandon Bridge - Kevin Glenn - Ricky Ray
-
That’s how you describe a QB you guys would have killed for to be playing for you in this game?

Ask Milt Stegall about his..

.......Bits and pieces - the Smoke and Mirrors edition 👁🗨 Love it when both the Jets and Bombers win on the same day.. 👁🗨 That hitch pass, that was ruled incomplete, sure looked like it was a live ball, that is because Bridge threw it behind his own position 👁🗨 I simply cannot say enough Harris. Well I can say that, but you know what I mean. 👁🗨 Their special teams were...more special than ours. 181 yards on kickoff returns. Damn lucky we could overcome that. 👁🗨 What? No dancing or fancy footsteps from Jefferson the starshi*.. 👁🗨 As mentioned, that guy Bennett can sure tackle.. 👁🗨 Dressler - only comes through when needed..😁 👁🗨 Is the O-Line overrated? Not a friggin chance. I’d give you an Andrew Harris salute! 👁🗨 How to keep the opposition in the game? Gift them a PI call in the end zone on an uncatchable ball. That’s how. 👁🗨 They really have to get better balance in the CFL on challenges. What they’ve done has really helped but when you use a challenge, and are correct, you should get to keep that challenge. 👁🗨 Love how the Rider fans kept expecting Nichols to make a big mistake. No, no, you fools, he’s learned not to gift you another game to you. 👁🗨 We respect everyone, fear no one." - Matt Nichols 👁🗨 Smartest thing this guy wrote all year.. “They were the better team and there was zero doubt about it”. - Rod Pedersen 👁🗨 So, maybe now the talk of O’Shea has to win a playoff game before we talk extension will finally subside. 👁🗨 I think it’s worth mentioning that during the previous game in Hamilton, when they stopped the game to observe Remembrance Day, the sound of silence was impressive. You could not hear any noise whatsoever. Well done. 👁🗨 Bridge’s 32 yard run at the start of the game didn’t sit well with my playoff nerves. 👁🗨 Chris Jones - nobody will think you’re less tough if you wear a jacket.. 👁🗨 Bombers had a solid game plan and it was executed to a tee. 👁🗨 That Eguavoen guy is a great player, isn’t he? 👁🗨 Boy did Dressler play tough or what?.. 👁🗨 On the Fogg interception. Kudos to Bighill and Brandin Bryant for pressuring Bridge to throw that Ill-advised pass. Ha ha to Suitor for commenting that Bridge was throwing more accurately just before that. Double ha ha for saying the ball slipped out of his hand and sticking to that comment.

Didn’t the Riders beat the Eskimos and Stampeders the last time they met these teams? Those two QBs usually have better stats, but they lost. So, in my books, I’ll take the win with Nichols’ 72.7% completion avg and call it a good game by our QB.
-
Clearly a lateral. But if I stand behind that statement, will my statement be considered incomplete? 🤔😳🙃
-
I’ll disagree with you guys. Nichols played as good a game as you can expect against that defence. He was harrassed for a good part of the game but managed to keep his head and resisted the urge to force the ball. He threw it away instead. You know, live to fight another day. He was disciplined when he had to be and threw a beautiful TD pass to Wolitarsky. No turnovers. Game manager? Yes. Game winner? Definitely

It really wasn’t a surprise. Bryant and Hardrick are credited, through the year, with allowing the least pressures by Hughes and Jefferson. I’d say Bravo boys!
-
That was almost eerie. That silence was deafening. A good job by everyone involved.
-
You only get one chance at an Addison, and we had our chance already..

Yes, I remember that taunt..

It was discovered in an unabridged memo sent to all Bel13vers.

Those stats are simply between the 2 teams for this matchup.

CFL Game #92 West Semi-Final - Winnipeg at Saskatchewan: Switching Teams: Winnipeg's projected roster for this game has 8 players who once played for Saskatchewan (W.Dressler, N.Demski, K.LaFrance, J.Hecht, C.Rempel, J.Hardrick, P.Neufeld & R.Lankford). The Riders have 4 , 5 former Blue Bombers in their lineup (S.Hurl, C.Marshall, J.Johnson & B.LaBatte, and Poop Johnson) September 8th WPG vs SSK: In this game, part of the 2-1 season series triumph for the Riders, BOTH QBs left the game early due to injury. Brandon Bridge led 4 late drives and produced 6 points on two Field Goals that won the game. Chris Streveler played the entire 2nd half in relief of Matt Nichols and led the Bombers to a late 27-26 lead which they failed to hold. 2018 Season Series Comparison: The teams compared closely in 2018 in a number of key areas. Winnipeg outscored Saskatchewan 81-63 thanks to a recent 31-0 win, however Saskatchewan took 2 of the 3 games. The critical area of 2nd Down Conversions was a key as Winnipeg held the Riders to just 32%, well below the CFL average of 46%. 👁🗨 Winnipeg had the advantage in 5 out of 8 key categories: points, net offence, less two-and-outs, 2nd down conversions and rushing yards. Saskatchewan had more turnovers, scored more points off turnovers, and had 2 more sacks. The Riders scored 15 Touchdowns on all returns this season. The Riders scored 11 TDs on Defence this year. Better SSK Defence than Offence: In 8 games in 2018, the Riders' defensive unit actually had at least as many or more Touchdowns than their Offence including their final game of the year vs BC that clinched a home playoff berth (2 TDs). 8 INTs for 30 points vs the Bombers in 2018: The Riders intercepted Matt Nichols and Chris Streveler 8 times in 2018. From those 8 INTs, Saskatchewan created 30 of their 63 points (48%) in the 3-game season series. Overall, 33 of their 63 points in 2018 vs the Bombers came off of Turnovers. Nichols and Collaros in the Playoffs: Matt Nichols has a Career 1-2 Playoff record and oddly LOST his best two starts but won his poorest (for Edmonton in 2014). Nichols' 35 completions in the 2017 Semi-Final 39-32 loss to Edmonton was a Winnipeg club record and ranked as #3 all-time, just 3 completions short of the CFL playoff record of 38 (set by Kerwin Bell for Toronto in 1998). Zach Collaros has just two career playoff starts and to date has yet to throw a TD pass in a playoff game (though he did have one in the 2014 Grey Cup). His record is 1-1 last winning back in 2014 over Montreal. Zach Collaros in 2018: Started 14 games in 2018 but did not finish 4 of them (Jun 21 v OTT, Sep 8 at WPG, Oct 13 at WPG & Oct 27 vs BC). Two of those DNF's came against the Bombers and the Riders went 2-2 in these 4 games. 3 TDs on Offence: The Bombers offence has been so consistent lately that they have a 7-game streak with at least 3 TD drives. They were the only CFL club two score at have at least 2 TD drives in EVERY game in 2018. Matt Nichols in 2018: The Bombers' #1 QB missed the first 3 games but then started 14 in a row. He failed to finish only one game (Sep 8 vs SSK) other than being pulled due to the Bombers' being well ahead. Nichols threw for 300+ yards just once but that came in their crucial playoff-clinching victory over Calgary in his last start. Nichols ended up 9-5 overall and 3-3 on the road. Nichols & Collaros II: In 14 starts each, Matt Nichols and Zach Collaros were in the lower half of the CFL's leading passers on a yards per start basis in 2018. 3 TDs on Offence: The Bombers offence has been so consistent lately that they have a 7-game streak with at least 3 TD drives. They were the only CFL club two score at have at least 2 TD drives in EVERY game in 2018. Sayles' Last 10 Games: Marcus Sayles made 72 Total Defensive Plays in his last 10 games - that rate taken over the full season would have given him 130, just 3 off the CFL leader Alex Singleton (133) and more than Adam Bighill (127). Nichols' Streak: Matt Nichols comes into this game with a 5-game win streak as a starter with wins over both 1st place teams. Playoff experience: Winnipeg's projected starters/kickers have 68 career games; Saskatchewan's have played 72 playoff games. Josh Bartel: Had the lowest qualifying punt average at 30.9 but not one single among 122 punts. Ed Gainey: Had zero interceptions in the first 9 games of 2018, but finished strong with 3 in the 2nd half of the season. 1st Half Team: The Bombers outscored the opposition 335-196 (+139) in the 1st half but were -8 in the 2nd half/OT in 2018. Chandler Fenner: Wound up #2 in Special Teams Tackles with 24 - and he had 8 in his final 3 games. Mike Miller: Ended the season with 22 ST Tackles and a streak with at least one in 8 straight games. Alexandre Gagne: Ended the season with 23 ST Tackles and a run with at least one in 11 straight games. Shaquelle Evans: Had a team-leading 785 receiving yards but zero TDs, the highest yardage total in CFL history without a TD. Justin Medlock: Closed his season with a perfect 10-for-10 on FGs before sitting out last week ahead of the playoffs. Darvin Adams -Comes into this game with a 3-game TD streak and 15 catches for 270 yards, his best 3-game run of 2018. Brett Lauther - Finished up at 90% on FGs. He missed only 3 times in the first 14 games, but had 3 misses in the last 4 games Kevin Fogg - Tied with Jonathan Rose for the CFL lead in Turnovers Created with 10 (4 INTs, 3 Fum returns, 3 Forced Fumbles) Roosevelt didn’t catch a pass against B.C., ending his streak of consecutive games with at least one reception at 50 Both clubs also go into the post-season on a 5-1 run. All in all, their method of winning games has been similar. But O’Shea isn’t fooled..

Carson Walch - who? you might say. He’s one of the names put forward by John Hodge who might be considered for HC jobs next year. Walch left Edmonton after two seasons as the club’s offensive coordinator (2016-2017) to become the assistant receivers coach with the Philadelphia Eagles. If Walch could be lured back north, he could be in demand for his work in developing Mike Reilly and James Franklin. The top 12 CFL head coaching candidates..(For Rider fans - 12 is the number just before 13) DeVone Claybrooks - Claybrooks ended his ten-year playing career in January of 2012 to become the Calgary Stampeders’ defensive line coach. Serving as the club’s defensive coordinator for the past three seasons, Claybrooks is considered by many to be the top head coaching candidate for 2019. Orlondo Steinauer - Steinauer briefly ended his seven-year coaching tenure in the CFL following the 2016 season when he became the defensive coordinator at Fresno State. Serving now as the Ticats’ assistant head coach, this five-time all-star is earmarked by many to become the next head coach in Hamilton — or elsewhere. And the remaining list: Paul LaPolice - Hamstrung by an inept general manager during his head coaching stint in Winnipeg (2011-2013), LaPolice has reestablished himself as one of the league’s top offensive coordinators. For a team looking to boost its offensive production, LaPolice would make a strong head coaching candidate. Scott Milanovich - Milanovich won a Grey Cup during his five-year stint as the head coach of the Toronto Argonauts (2012-2016) and helped develop Zach Collaros and Trevor Harris into starting-caliber quarterbacks. Now the quarterbacks coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Milanovich would be a well-regarded head coaching candidate should he ever return north Corey Chamblin - Chamblin went 29-34 as the head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders from 2012-2015, a tenure that was highlighted by a Grey Cup championship in 2013. Winning another Grey Cup as Toronto’s defensive coordinator in 2017, Chamblin left the club to become a quality control coach at the University of Arkansas. Mark Washington - Washington has more than paid his dues, working in the CFL for the past 22 years as a player (1997-2007) and coach (2008-2018). Just finishing his fifth year as the Lions’ defensive coordinator, Washington will be a candidate for his club’s head coaching vacancy as well as openings elsewhere. Craig Dickenson - The older brother of Dave Dickenson has spent the past 19 years coaching in the CFL and NFL. Spending the past three years with Chris Jones in Saskatchewan, Dickenson could become the first special teams coordinator since Mike O’Shea to get a shot at wearing the big headset. Marc Trestman - Fired by the Argonauts this past Saturday after a disastrous 2018 season, Trestman remains a well-respected head coach and three-time Grey Cup champion. Trestman will be paid the full value of his 2019 salary — reportedly worth $600,000 — but, at 62, may not have many coaching years left. There’s a good chance he’ll want to coach next season if an opportunity arises. Kent Austin - Things ended poorly in Hamilton, but Austin is still a 55-year-old veteran coach with a history of success in the CFL. Austin wants to get back into coaching and has experience as a personnel guy — there’s a chance we see him get another shot to build a winner. Tommy Condell - Condell helped build a winner in Hamilton as the club’s offensive coordinator before resigning prior to the 2016 season. Spending the last two years in Toronto, Condell could get a look as head coach there or elsewhere in the league. Condell interviewed for the Alouettes’ job twice last off-season. Ryan Dinwiddie - Still just 37, Dinwiddie has served as Calgary’s quarterbacks coach for the past three seasons. It may be early for the former CFL pivot to receive serious head coaching interest, but Dinwiddie has a solid reputation and works very closely with Dave Dickenson. I’d bet on him becoming a CFL head coach within the next half-decade. http://3downnation.com/2018/11/08/top-12-cfl-head-coaching-candidates/
