Stamps stomped! Big time effort and execution from the Riders. We’re talking sacks and Zach. Mitchell sacked 5 times Zach - not once. Sask whipped Calgary in every category..offence, defence and ST. I have to spit before saying this, but this was Jones at his very best in that defensive attack. Calgary was never able to settle into their game. This could change the whole complexion of the Western playoff race.

CFL Game #47 Team Trends – Calgary at Saskatchewan: - Stamps Off a Bye / Bye games on the road: Calgary has played 17 games since 2005 when they have come off a bye week and have a perfect 17-0 record back to July 2005. This year, they won after a bye in 2018 Week #4 defeating Ottawa 20-17 on Jul 12/18. Their last loss after a bye came on Jul 1/05 vs TOR and that was in Wk #2 when they had yet to play that season. Calgary is 11-0 in the 11 of those 17 post-bye games that have been on the road as they are this week. - How Dominant has Calgary been? Up by 14+ Pts UPDATE: One way of measuring a team's sustained level of dominance is how often they take big leads. The Stamps have led in EVERY contest this season by 14 or more points and this it is now 7 games in a row. In CFL history only three teams have EVER led by 14+ points in more than 7 consecutive games and none made it to 8 in a row: Rob Maver Inside the 10: Maver has at least one punt pinning opponents inside the 10-yard line in his last 4 games and in 6 of 7 overall this year. He is #1 in the CFL with 7 of these 'I10' punts this year and with 70 since 2012. 👁🗨Justin Medlock is tied for 2nd with 5. (Last year Medlock had a total of 7) Lauther 94%: Since Week #2 Brett Lauther has been the have I CFL's most accurate FG kicker other Lewis Ward. Lauther has made 15-of- 16 attempts for a 93.8% mark over the last 6 games. What is remarkable however is that his average FG made in that span is 38.1 yards. For the season, his average FG made of 38.6 yards is #1 in the CFL. - Recent SSK v CGY matchups: The Riders have split the last two meetings against Calgary after snapping a 10-game losing streak against them across the 2013-2017 seasons. Since 2013, Zach Collaros will this week be the 7th different Riders' starting QB to face the Stampeders. Calgary has had just three in that time (Tate, Glenn & Mitchell). - Riders holding leads: The Riders have been fantastic recently in winning when they enter the 4th Quarter with the lead. Since 2016 they are 13-2 when leading after Q3 and 31-9 since 2013. - Calgary #1 in 20 Defensive Rankings: Including fewest points allowed, Calgary is #1 ranked in 20 out of the 28 defensive statistical categories. The only exceptions are primarily in Turnovers forced and passing attempts. - Alex Singleton Update: Through Week #9 no player had a higher % of his team's defensive tackles. Singleton has made 45 of the 258 Calgary defensive tackles for a 17.4% share. Next: Adam Bighill at 14.71%, and J.C. Sherritt at 14.65%. - Few starters: This game features the two teams that have employed the fewest number of starters this year. Saskatchewan has had just 31 different players start at least one game while Calgary is next at just 32 starters. - Zach Collaros: Combined with Hamilton and Saskatchewan he is 1-14 in his last 15 starts and 25-29 overall in 54 career starts. - Bo Levi Mitchell: Threw for a season-high 370 yards in his last game - this was his 6th career game of 370+ yards. Mitchell brings a 28-6-2 record as a starter on the road into this game at Mosaic Stadium. He also an active 8-game TD pass streak back to 2017 and has won his last 7 starts. - Sacks in 23 straight games: Calgary had their streak with at least one sack in 23 games in a row snapped last game. - 12.3 / 11.1 Pts Allowed: Calgary is challenging a long-held CFL record having allowed only 12.3 total points per game thus far. In the entire CFL Era (1958 to today), the fewest TOTAL points allowed record is held by the 1964 BC Lions at 10.5 per game and followed by Hamilton (1965) at 10.9 ppg against. - Calgary +17 T/O Ratio: The Stamps are at +17 for their 2018 Turnover advantage - that +17 mark after 7 games is on pace for +44 which would break the CFL record set by Edmonton in 1981 at +41. Calgary's club record is +27 set in 1996. - Most QB Starters Single Season: Montreal has used 4 different QB starters this year and with Johnny Manziel questionable for Week #10 may lead to Antonio Pipkin or Matthew Shiltz being #5 for them. The CFL record is 6 different starters by Winnipeg in 1983 (Dieter Brock, Tom Clements, Norman Gibbs, Nickie Hall, John Hufnagel and Mark Jackson). - 1st Down Rushing Avg: Despite having the CFL's #2 rusher in William Powell, the REDBLACKS have averaged the lowest number of yards on 1st down rushing plays. They have gained just 4.8 yards per 1st down rush and that ranks #9 overall. By contrast, Winnipeg is tied with Montreal for #1 in the CFL at 6.2 yards per 1st down rush. - Lewis Ward 96%: Ward began his career with a 3-for-4 FG performance in the season opener and since then has not missed a kick of any kind. Ward is now 25-for-26 96.2% with a streak of 22 makes in a row, the longest streak ever made by a 1st Year player.

Easily? Yes, I would question that. Edmonton’s offence is driven, and pulled along by Reilly. He has relied heavily on above average receptions by his receivers. I’ve not seen such reliance on great catches in a long time. Don’t get me wrong, Reilly has proven to be the best, Just because the Bombers are susceptible to his comebacks doesn’t mean he can’t be beat. And the defences? I see problems in both team defences. There’s no way their defence is ‘better’ than ours. We are very evenly matched. Reilly has been the difference..

Reilly...throwing up those lame ducks balls:
-
I don’t want to say that’s a dumb statement...but...that’s a dumb statement.
-
I wouldn’t agree on special teams, but Ottawa clearly had the better game plan and executed at a higher level. Our offence was stagnant and I saw no effort to take the pressure off A. Harris when clearly Ottawa had a plan to undermine his running. Harris is dynamite, but when you know it’s coming..
-
If there wasn’t a better time to keep Streveler in the game, then I don’t know what’s what. Players complained about the booing when Nichols went back in, but they weren’t booing Nichols..they were booing that decision to remove Streveler. We weren’t going to win that game at that point, but Streveler gave us energy and excitement, but O’Shea didn’t see that. Bad read on his part. It was a moment everybody saw..except O’Shea.
-
Wow. When I look back 3 years ago and look at the hiring that each team had made - O’Shea, entering his 3rd year, and the shiny new DC, with sunglasses and the many titles - Jones. I remember the excitement wafting over the borders from Sask (not the usual wafting). There was a new sheriff in town..and he looked legit. Not so much now. Compare the orgs. now and really, there is no comparison. The Bombers are in order, the Riders are in disarray. Does anybody really know what’s going on there? Saskatchewan, a team with a good defence on the field, but there is no defence for what direction Jones is taking that team.

Game Notes - CFL.ca 👁🗨 1-2 combo: 9/21: The Bombers have allowed just nine sacks, fewest in the CFL, and have 21 quarterback sacks – most in the league. Bombers vs REDBLACKS: Ottawa has won once in Winnipeg since joining the CFL in 2014 but overall are 4-4 vs the Bombers despite losses in their last three meetings. Matt Nichols has started the last 6 games for Winnipeg vs Ottawa and is 3-3. A key statistic from last year's season series was the Bombers' 5-1 advantage in the Turnover battle which aided their sweep. 👁🗨An amazing stat - +16 point leads in 5 games in a row: The Bombers have built at least a 16-point lead in each of their last 5 games - that is just one short of the club record of 6 straight set in 1981 (Sep 27/81-Nov 1/81: leads of +36, +24, +31, +32, +20, +38). The CFL record is games in a row with a lead of 16 points Trevor Harris: Last week, Harris completed 44-of-54 passes and was just one completion short of the CFL record of 45 set by Henry Burris on Oct 1/15 (45/53). Harris' 54 attempts were the most ever thrown in Ottawa history, and in the 4th Quarter alone last week, Harris went 12-of-15 for 128 yards in leading his 11th career Q4 Game-winning drive. - Fastest to 60 Receptions: This year Brad Sinopoli has a CFL-leading 60 catches in his first 8 games. - 40 wins for O'Shea: Last week's win over Hamilton was the 40th of his regular season career. Mike can move up to #5 all-time in Blue Bombers history with a win this week and move ahead of Mike Riley - he can be as high as #4 by season's end with a 5-5 finish. 1st Down Rushing Avg: Despite having the CFL's #2 rusher in William Powell, the REDBLACKS have averaged the lowest number of yards on 1st down rushing plays. They have gained just 4.8 yards per 1st down rush and that ranks #9 overall. By contrast, Winnipeg is tied with Montreal for #1 in the CFL at 6.2 yards per 1st down rush. Since 2015, Ottawa has the most wins vs Western clubs of any East Division team with 15. - Lewis Ward 96%: Ward began his career with a 3-for-4 FG performance in the season opener and since then has not missed a kick of any kind. Ward is now 25-for-26 96.2% with a streak of 22 makes in a row, the longest streak ever made by a 1st Year player. 👁🗨Not too bad for an undrafted player.. - Greg Ellingson: Had a huge bounce-back game last week with 11 catches for 110 yards, his first 100-yard game since Game #1. His 11-catch total compared to just 12 in his previous 4 games, the lowest 4-game total he had had since m id-2016. - Ottawa's 4th Q Game-winning drive: The REDBLACKS' 4th Quarter GW drive last week was their 5th across the 2017-18 seasons. That ranks #3 in the CFL over this two-year span: #1 Edmonton 8, #2 Toronto 7, #3 Ottawa 5. Their game-winning TD last week came with 0:15 to play after a 7-play, 69 yard march in 2:06. - Ottawa’s Brad Sinopoli already has 60 receptions through eight games. He is one of only three players in CFL history to have accomplished that feat, joining Derrell Mitchell (64 catches in seven games in 1998, en route to a league-record 160) and Allen Pitts (62 catches in eight games, finishing with 118). CFL Game #44 Team Trends – Ottawa at Winnipeg: - Andrew Harris 6,988: Needs the following rushing yard totals this week to achieve a variety of accomplishments: - 7 yards to pass Earl Lunsford (6,994) for #14 all-time - 12 yards to become the 14th player to reach 7,000 for his career - 20 yards to pass **** Shatto (7,007 corrected career total) for #13 all-time - 73 yards to pass Jim Evenson (7,060) for #12 all-time - Bombers East & West: The Bombers are 1-2 vs Western rivals but a solid 4-1 vs the East. They are 16-5 vs the East since 2016. - 17-2, 23-4: Over the last 3 years (2016-18), Winnipeg is 17-2 when they lead after the 1st Quarter and 23-4 with a half-time lead. - Deep TD throws: The Bombers have given up a CFL-low 2 TD passes on 20+ yard throws; Ottawa has allowed a league-high of 8. - 2-Pt Convert comparison: The Bombers have attempted a CFL-low 1 two-point convert; Ottawa has tried a league-high of 9. - 1st Half vs 2nd Half: The Bombers have a +96 scoring margin in the 1st half thus far; but ... they are just +1 in 2nd halves. - 1st Half vs 2nd Half II: Ottawa also is 1st Half strong at +20 in the first 30:00 and ... are -5 in 2nd halves. Random CFL Notes and streaks: - Most QB Starters Single Season: Montreal has used 4 different QB starters this year and with Johnny Manziel questionable for Week #10 may lead to Antonio Pipkin or Matthew Shiltz being #5 for them. The CFL record is 6 different starters by Winnipeg in 1983 (Dieter Brock, Tom Clements, Norman Gibbs, Nickie Hall, John Hufnagel and Mark Jackson). - McLeod Bethel-Thompson: Led the Argos to a 42-41 victory over Ottawa. Here are a few superlatives from that game 1) From 24 down I: The Argo comeback matched the 8th-largest in CFL history, just 3 points short of the CFL record from 27 points. 2) From 24 down II: 2nd-largest in Argos' history, one point less than their 25-point recovery of Oct 2/94 (11-36 to HAM, won 39-36). 3) Half-time deficit: They trailed by 21 at half-time and won matching the 3rd-largest in CFL history after 30:00 of play. 4) 4 TD pass debut: One of six players with 4 TD passes in their 1st career start. CFL record: An incredible 8 TDs by Joe Zuger 1962) (Ricky Ray 2002, Matt Dunigan 1984, Condredge Holloway 1975, and Ron Reeves 1983 also had 4 TD debuts) 5) 2nd Half Passing: Bethel-Thompson passed for 233 yards and 4 TDs in the 2nd half alone. 6) Q4 game-winning drive: Drove 86 yards on 11 plays in 1:44 going 5-of-7 for 60 yards with completions to four different receivers. - Calgary +14: Stamps tied a CFL record at 7 games in a row with at least a 14-pt lead matching the 1982 Bombers and 2011 Lions. – Bombers safety Taylor Loffler on the evolving defence: We’re doing a lot of different things, changing the looks up, which is nice, from the previous years. Our defence is able to do that and it’s made a big👁🗨(hill) difference out there. It gives the offence we’re playng against different looks and they can’t know exactly what we’re going to do every time. We’ve definitely come a long ways and we definitely still have a long ways to go. But it’s really looking up right now and we just need to keep going from here. We had a little bit of a rocky path there to start… we’d have a good game and then have a bad game, but we’ve been a lot more consistent over the last month and just keep steadily improving. We can’t take a step back. We have to keep going on an upward path.”

I'm not sure if I can slot Lankford in with the rest of those guys. They were regular every down players. What they displayed showed us their abilities??. or lack of. I’m just not as afraid to use Lankford, in his capacity, just yet. I need to see more of him and from him. Maybe it will happen, maybe it won’t.
-
But isn’t every fumble crucial? It was a great return notwithstanding. It’s unfortunate about that fumble, it might have lead to at least 3 points..or not. The staff must see something in Lankford and he draws in over Washington..for some reason. We’re at the point where we must trust the Bombers’ staff for including certain players in their game plans. As long as we keep doing well and win, what do I really care?

Presenting the leading candidate for TD celebration thru week 9... They’re calling it the “Hippo”.. Love it! It beat out Demski and his page-turning TD celebration over U of M logo, and the BC Lions “selfie”

Jamie Nye@jamienye Robert Bagg! Need leadership and character and a guy who will be in the right spot, giving it all on every play. That's the guy. 👁🗨What gives? This just can’t be. He’s the polar opposite of Carter. But it seems he just couldn’t do it all year long..

Bombers are waiting patiently for a breakout game from Ryan Lankford..will he come through?

But they weren’t interceptions now were they? Falls under the category of coulda, woulda, shoulda in the stats department.

Well..yeah. It happens to all teams doesn’t it?
