  1. Not exactly what you want to hear about your star QB..
  2. So, in regards to film room study, did Messam and the rest of the team, each have their own rooms?
  3. Calgary - doing their version of the Bombers vs BC...ala blowing a lead
  4. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a reversal of a penalty call made by review when there was no turnover or challenge. I can’t come up with any reason why a penalty was reversed without cause. Why? So, when does the next penalty get reversed and why? What are the parameters? Who makes that decision? I’d be very interested to know what Coach O’Shea has to say about that. Good call or bad call..what? The reviewers can go fishing on plays now? Damned lucky it wasn’t a game changer.
  5. We did say that when Loffler layed out Arceneaux in the end zone. Same thing. Hitting a defenceless receiver after the play is over.
  6. Game Day Notes - Blue Bombers with 3 straight 100's: Andrew Harris has a streak of 3 straight 100-yard rushing games coming into this game. Willard Reaves' feat of 8 straight in 1984 is the club record. Reaves is the only Bomber to rush for 100 yards in 4 or more straight games. -Mike Pringle holds the CFL record of 13 straight 100 yd rushing games.. - Andrew Harris: Leads the CFL in rushing with 610 yards and is trying to become the first Blue Bomber to lead the league two years in a row since Charles Roberts in 2005-6. Harris had a career-high 161-yard rushing total last week and has 409 yards on 52 carries over his last 3 games. - Weston Dressler 118 straight: Dressler's current consecutive game reception streak is up to 118 in a row (last game w/o a catch: Aug 12/10). Dressler's 118-game streak is the 8th longest in CFL history (next ahead at #7 is Craig Ellis at 120 in a row). He needs 68 yards to pass Tony Gabriel (9,832) for #18 all-time and is 235 yards away from becoming the CFL's 17th 10,000 yard receiver. Weston is 7 short of becoming the CFL's 13th player to reach 700 career receptions. - James Wilder Jr. focus: Opponents have emphasized stopping him since his rookie season excellence - over the last 2 games he has 15 runs for just 24 yards with a long of only 5. As a receiver however, he has 12 catches for 104 yards in those two games. Will he play tonight? - Jackson Jeffcoat: Was blanked in the first three games this year but has 4 QB Sacks in his last 3 games. - James Franklin: The Argos have gone 1-2 with Franklin as their starter at QB after their tough 38-20 loss to Winnipeg last week. - Bomber runs: With 160 rushes so far they are on pace for 480 in 2018, the most by any club since Saskatchewan in 2002 (493). - O-Line Continuity: Winnipeg has started the same 5-man offensive line in every game this year and that streak extends back 8 games to the end of 2017. Consecutive start streaks ... Stanley Bryant 71 games, Matthias Goossen 46, Jermarcus Hardrick 33, Sukh Chungh 24 and Patrick Neufeld 8. - Toronto at 1-4 / 1-5?: The last time that the Argos were 1-4 out of the gate was in 2014 but they won Game #6 that year. The last time they fell to a 1-5 start was in 2011 when they started out 1-6. - No offensive TDs: The Bombers held Toronto without an offensive TD last week - the last time that the Bombers 'D' accomplished that was in the final game of 2017 vs CGY (23-5). Toronto was last held w/o an Off. TD was on Aug 26/17 vs Calgary. - Field position starts: The Bombers are tied with Calgary for #1 in this key aspect. They have started on average at their own 39- yard line, well above the 35-yard line CFL-wide spot. That translates into an advantage of 320+ yards of additional field position.0
  7. GAME DAY NOTES  Duke Williams 100+ in 4 straight: Williams' current run of consecutive 100-yard games has reached 4 in a row. With one more this week he can to a level that has been reached only 9 times in CFL history covering 1950 to 2017. The last player to extend that streak to at least 5 games of 100+ in a row was Jamel Richardson in 2011 (6 straight). The Edmonton record is held by Brian Kelly at 5 games in row set in 1983.  Overall Standings & Parity: Through the first 5 games for all clubs with the byes now having evened out for all but Winnipeg, Calgary has dominated at 5-0 with two teams at 1-4. However, league-wide there are SIX clubs with either 2 or 3 wins in a season of parity in the middle and thus not far from early playoff contention. Every team has at least one victory to date.  Lack of Win Streaks: There have been only THREE clubs thus far able to win back-to-back games over the first six weeks. Only Calgary (5), plus Hamilton and Saskatchewan have managed to win at least two games in a row.  Turnovers even more prominent: There has been just ONE team that has been able to overcome a T/O deficit and win their game in 2018. Only Edmonton on June 29th in a 41-22 victory over BC was negative on Giveaways with 3 against the Lions' 2 that day. Overall, teams with fewer Turnovers are at 18-1 .947 in 2018 compared to 55-13 .809 in 2017 and 57-10 .851 in 2016. Scoring at 46.5 ppg: Games are averaging just 46.5 points in 2018 vs 53.0 over the past two full seasons (2016-17). In 2018, there have been 10 games in which the point total has been 42 or less.  Rushing up by 17% in 2018: The focus in 2018 has been a return to rushing the football with yards averaging 217 per game, the highest per game yardage since 2010. Teams who have won the rushing battle in 2018 are 17-6 .739. Winnipeg leads the CFL at 173 yards per game which is the best average by any club since Edmonton in 1991 (185.3 per game). - Montreal Career Rushers: Tyrell Sutton moved up to #4 all-time for the Als last week by passing Brandon Whitaker. He is just 370 yards away from the #3 spot in club history. His per carry average is exactly the same as all-time leader Mike Pringle at 5.6 yards. Deep passing contrast: Edmonton leads the CFL in throwing deep this year with 16 completions where the receiver was more than 20 yards downfield. By comparison, Montreal is tied for last having just 8 connections of 20+ yards downfield. Six of Edmonton's 9 TD passes have been of the 20+ depth variety. MTL Roster changes from Week #1 to Week #7 - 42% Turnover: Of the 24 players that STARTED for the Als in their season opener, 10 of them (42%) either did not start last week or have since been traded away including Jamaal Westerman and Chris Williams. - 14th MTL QB Starter / 25 Week-to-Week changes:The following players have started at QB for Montreal since Anthony Calvillo's last start on August 17, 2012 - Josh Neiswander, Tanner Marsh, Troy Smith, Alex Brink, Jon Crompton, Rakeem Cato, Kevin Glenn, Brandon Bridge, Vernon Adams Jr., Darian Durant, Drew Willy, Matthew Shiltz and Jeff Mathews. Even more important perhaps, Montreal has been forced to make 25 week-to-week changes in their starting QB in the 89 games since August 2012. Edmonton has changed their QB starter week to week just 9 times over that span. - 1-15 in the last 16 games / 7 in a row at home: The Alouettes have won just once in their last 16 games - that matches the previous poorest 16-game stretch in their history, 1-15 from Oct 6/51 to Oct 18/52 almost 66 years ago. They come in having lost their last 7 home games - the longest home losing streak in Montreal history. - Edmonton vs Montreal: The Eskimos have won the last 8 meetings against Montreal, one short of their best run vs the Als. They won 9 consecutive meetings with Montreal across the 1978 to 1983 seasons. The current 8-game streak comes on the heels of exactly the same 8-game winning run that the Als had over Edmonton (2010 to 2013). The last Montreal win over Edmonton? Oct 5/13. - Slow starts: The Eskimos have scored a total of just 3 points in the 1st Quarter over their last 3 games. They have been behind after the 1st Quarter in each of their last 4 games and come back to win two of them. - Edmonton scoring: The Eskimos averaged 31.7 points per game over their first 3 contests, but have scored 16 and 15 points in their last two games respectively. Over the last two outings they have just built just 3 TD drives in 23 possessions. - Mike Reilly: Has been the Esks' #1 QB since 2013 and has now started 48 of their last 49 games. Edmonton has gone 33-16 .673 in that 49-game span with Reilly missing a start only on Nov 5/16 at season's end. Reilly has 300-yard games in 3 of his 5 starts in 2018 (36 career) and in 65% of his starts since 2015. Sutton as a receiver: Tyrell Sutton is on pace for 76 receptions for 659 yards (he has 21 catches for 183 thus far) - that would be more yards and catches than in the last two years combined (71 for 518 across 2016-17). - Boris Bede 14 FGs in a row: Has yet to miss a placement kick of either type in 2018 - 8/8 FGAs and 6/6 converts. He is just one short of his all-time career long run of 15 in a row set in June-July 2017 and has made 17 consecutive 32-yard converts. - Montreal flagged: The Als committed 44 penalties over their first 3 games (incl. declined) – in their last 2 games just 14 penalties. - Sean Whyte: Did not attempt a field goal last week and thus far has been called upon only 9 times. He is 7-of-9 in 2018. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________
  8. The kid’s fast on the field..chasing, and now he’s quick off the field. Probably a good decision.
  9. I don’t think anybody is saying we should go with 3 NIs as receivers, but the point is we could do it for the first time in..yikes. Replacing Bowman will not be difficult, it’s the decision whom to go with that may be difficult for some of us to accept. We’ve seen, partly what Lankford can do but most of us are looking for the excitement of what a Washington or a Thompkins can bring to the field..another option in this potent offence.
  10. Well, for one thing, it would help us to totally forget those years when we could only utilize 1 to 1 & a 1/2 receivers. Also, it’s a Canadian thing to go along with the Winnipeg thing we have going with Demski, Harris LaFrance etc. And the 3 Canadians in charge of the Club. It would be Winnipeg unique...
  11. They still haven’t got this right. Lose a challenge? Yes, then you lose your time-out. But why get punished (no more challlenges) for getting a challenge right? Makes no sense..
  12. O’Shea knows the rule book as well as any Coach I’ve observed. If there is a question about a certain call during games, O’Shea sends in the tape about those calls and asks for clarification. That is exactly why O’Shea nearly lost it when Jeffcoat was tagged with the highly questionable horse collar penalty in the BC game. He had asked for the correct interpretation, received it, and yet the wrong call was made on that Jeffcoat tackle. That was a costly penalty for the Bombers made worse by the fact that it was a mistake.
  13. CFL GAME NOTES  Drive Start Points: Hamilton has had 54 offensive possessions so far but ... have not started ANY in their Opponents' end of the field. They have 9 TD drives this year and these have averaged 79.1 yards, the highest average since the CFL began tracking this data. Across the CFL, the average scoring drive has been 68.7 yards or having start at their own 41-yard line.  Jeremiah Masoli 300+: Comes into this week with 9 consecutive 300-yard passing games and can pass initial record holders Sam Etcheverry (1956) and Kent Austin (1991) who each made it to 9 games in a row of 300+ passing yards. Masoli has thrown just 5 interceptions in his 334 pass attempts during his 9-game run with 13 TD passes. Hamilton schedule: The Ti-Cats start 2018 with 5 straight games against the West for the FIRST time in their entire 69-year history. - 2nd Dn Conversions - SSK games: Games involving the Riders haven't been high scoring to say the least with only 10 OFFENSIVE Touchdowns in 122 combined possessions (8% TD rate compared to 18% in the other 15 CFL games this year - less than half). The reason is the lack of 2nd down conversions - 38.8% in the 4 Saskatchewan games, 48.5% in ALL other games this year). - 4 SSK Offensive TDs: The Riders have scored just four offensive touchdowns this season. The last time they had less than 4 in their first 4 games was in 1995 (3) and that has happened just 4 times (1995: 3, 1963: 3, 1962: 4, 1960: 3). Idea thanks to! Rob Vanstone. - Saskatchewan 'D': The Riders lead the CFL with 31 forced 2-&-Outs by their Opponents in just 4 games, exactly 50%. - Riders 4 in a row: Saskatchewan brings a 4-game winning streak against Hamilton into this meeting, a complete reversal from the four games before that all won by the Ti-Cats. From 2004 to 2009, the Riders won 11 in a row vs Hamilton and lead 47-42 all-time. - Unusual SSK QB pattern: Since the CFL started tracking drives in-depth in 2009, no team has done what the Riders did in their last game alternating Brandon Bridge and David Watford. For reasons other than injury, they switched QBs from drive to drive 6 times in the win over the Ti-Cats, twice in the 1st half and 4 times in the 2nd Half. - Banks 3 straight 100's: Brandon Banks has gone over 100 yards in his last 3 games, one less than Duke Williams' current run of 4 in a row at 100+ receiving. Banks can tie Williams who is off on a bye week, but needs two more to match his own run of five 100s in a row in 2017. 4-game comparison: 2017: 4 catches for 38 yards, 2018: 28 catches for 360 yards, CFL-best 4 of 30+. - Hamilton Field Position: The Ti-Cats have started their drives on average from their own 27-yard line, the worst by any team. - Hard to explain: Hamilton has allowed only 3 points in the 3rd Quarter this season in 4 games, but 42 points in the 4th Quarter. 30% of the Tackles: Larry Dean and Simoni Lawrence have combined for 42 of Hamilton's 140 Def. Tackles - that is 30% of the team's total. That is not far off the 33% of BC's total that Adam Bighill and Solomon Elimimian made in 2016. - Schedule Quirk: This game between Hamilton and Saskatchewan brings up a very unusual quirk in that is the second of a pure back-to-back set but ... with a bye for BOTH teams in this case and so they are not playing in consecutive weeks. A look at schedules over the last 25 years showed no other such sets. - Brandon Bridge: Has two wins as a starter in the CFL and BOTH of these victories have come against Hamilton including two weeks ago in Regina when he led his first-ever 4th Quarter game-winning drive. Saskatchewan trailed 13-12 with 2:23 to play but Bridge drove them 77 yards on 5 plays with 3-of-3 passing for 43 yds for the deciding TD. - Marcus Thigpen: Had 48 yards rushing on just 5 carries in the win over Hamilton last game, 34 on his final carry for the winning TD. He was held to just 14 yards on his first 4 rushes in the first 35:00 and then did not run the ball until the Riders' clinching drive. - Charleston Hughes: Leads the CFL with 5 Sacks and has recorded at least one in 3 of the Riders' 4 games. - Reilly and Masoli: The CFL has never had two QBs go over 6000 yards in the same year, both are on or near 6K pace in 2018. - 4 on pace for 1K: The Ti-Cats have four receivers on pace for 1,000 yards as well as 100+ Targets. - Nikita Whitlock: Has been the Ti-Cats starting running back in all four games to date - and he has exactly 6 rushing attempts. - Challenges: The Ti-Cats are the only team to have made a Challenge in each of their games - and they are 0-for-4 so far. - Kick return big plays: There has been just 12 so far of the 30+/40+ yd type in 2018 (PR/KO) compared to 20 at Wk #5 last year. - Turnover Effect: As usual teams with more T/Os seldom win. Only one team (Edmonton) has won a game when making more. - Rushing yards: With several QBs well up among rushing leaders, CFL games have averaged 220 yards per game vs 185 last year. - After Q3: Only four teams have overcome a deficit with 15:00 to play and gone on to win, and no team has done it twice. _______________________________________________________________________________________________
  14. BC had done no schooling on us on Saturday. It was mostly self-inflicted. Proof? 3rd & 4th quarters 1st possession - Bomber 51 - stopped at the BC 2 yd line..turn over on downs 2nd possession - 2 and out 3rd possession - interception 4th possession - turn over on downs at the BC 7 yard line 5th possession - 2 and out...punt 29 yards, penalty 5 yards for no yards 6th possession - interception Throw in 3 RTP penalties ??? In those 2 quarters, and you have your BC offence. I didn’t see anything brilliant in BC’s adjustments, nor do I fault the defence, but I definitely see how we gave that game away..
  15. Best hit of the night? Brian Bennett on special teams.. The Bombers are a 4-1 team in a 2-3 record. The only game we should have lost was against Hamilton, who completely out-coached, and out-played us.. Edmonton, (Reilly) beat our defence, and it wasn’t the first time. BC defeated the Bombers but they needed a LOT of help. Timely drops, lack of execution, questionable play calling, turnovers, some ragged penalty calling, and poor punts at the wrong time. BC only made a couple of plays on us, but that’s all they needed, we helped them the rest of the way. Catch of the night - Darvin Adams sideline grab. Drop of the night - Darvin Adams..with 1 man to beat. Goal line stand by BC...shouldn’t have happened. By the way, that horse collar tackle on Jeffcoat does not meet the intent of the rule in my opinion. I was at the game, it happened right on our sight line. Jeffcoat had Rainey stopped..dead. He tackled Rainey across his own body. Rainey was not going anywhere.. he grabbed Rainey more on the side of his uni, up high, but there was no neck or head snap. A very questionable call. I wouldn’t chastise Jeffcoat at all on that play as Rainey, of course, tried to avoid the tackle and turned away from him. (5:13 mark - 3rd quarter)
  16. That fricken Lulay is good. He gives the Lions a much better chance to win than does Jennings. BUT, Even though they say his body is ready..will his mental state be ready? If the Bombers are aware, then they might shell-shock him. If the Bombers are not mentally prepared, then Lulay can do his thing..which he likes to do against the Bombers. It could be tricky, but there’s no reason why this version of the Blue can’t shut down BC again, and keep them behind us in the standings.
  17. CFL GAME NOTES - Confirmed - Travis Lulay starts! - it will be the 70th of his career but only his 5th in the last 48 BC Lions games since Sep 3/15. He last started on Sep 8/17 but was injured on the 2nd play from scrimmage. - Chance to Sweep: Winnipeg has an opportunity to sweep the BC Lions and accomplish what they have done only 4 times since 1996 (with the return of Montreal & the All-Canadian CFL). Their last sweep against BC on Oct 14/16. - Andrew Harris v BC: Ran for a season-high 109 yards last week, his 17th career 100+ yard game and first-ever against his former club. In 6 games vs BC, Harris has averaged 6.0 yards per carry (66 for 393) and has added 38 catches for 276 yards in those contests. - BC v WPG since 2011: Winnipeg won the first game of the 2018 season series last week at Investors Group Field and this game will be the second of a back-to-back set. The last 5 meetings have alternated between Bombers and Lions wins and no team has won twice in a row since October 2016. Since 2011, 11 of the 17 matchups have been decided in the last 3:00 - Winnipeg leads 9-8. - 4 straight TD drives: The Blue Bombers scored a TD on all four of their possessions from midway through the first Quarter until late in the opening half in last week's victory. It is the ONLY time that Winnipeg has scored on 4 straight drives in the entire period where the CFL has detailed drive-possession data (1995 to 2018). - Ty Long: Has a CFL-best 51.8 yard punting average, well ahead of the CFL record of 50.6 yards set by Jon Ryan in 2005. - Rainey: Leads the CFL in combined yards at 212 per game, on pace (3816) for the #2 mark all-time, just behind Chad Owens (3863). __________________________________________________________________________________
  18. CFL.ca GAME NOTES - Consecutive ties: In all of CFL history and going back 111 years to 1907, two teams have played to a tie at the same site in consecutive seasons only three times. The current 2016-17 Ottawa vs Calgary situation is even more unique in two other ways: 1) That this has occurred in the OT era which makes ties even rarer (14 times in exactly 2,500 games or .6% of the time) 2) And that for the first time it involves CONSECUTIVE GAMES at the same site  Trevor Harris 300+: Last week, Harris threw for 342 yards and 3 TDs, his second 300+ game of the year and #21 of his career. That means he has gone over 300 yards in 47% of his career starts (21 of 45)  Ottawa Rushing Record/ CFL Pace: William Powell leads the CFL in rushing with 355 yards averaging 118.3 yards per game.  Greg Ellingson #1: Greg Ellingson has been the CFL's reception & receiving yardage leader since the start of the 2015 season  Fastest to 60 QB wins: Bo Levi Mitchell's career winning % is now 59-10-2 .845 with a 3-0 .900 mark in 2018 (first time at 3-0 off the top since 2014). This week Mitchell faces Ottawa who are 1-6-2 against Calgary when he starts.  Calgary 16-0 Off a Bye (10-0 Road): Calgary's record coming off a bye is remarkable and they are 16-0 since 2005. Their last loss after a bye came on Jul 1/05 vs TOR and that was in Wk #2 when they had yet to play that season. Calgary is 10-0 in those post-bye games on the road.  Recent OTT v CGY matchups: Calgary has won the last 2 meetings including a 24-14 win in Wk #3. Since 2014 the REDBLACKS have defeated Calgary once though they have earned two OT ties at TD Place. These ties occurred in the most recent meetings in Ottawa. Ottawa's last win over Calgary was on Jul 24/15 - Calgary in four visits to TD Place are just 1-1-2. - Brad Sinopoli: Posted career-highs of 11 receptions and 15 targets in gaining 148 yards last week in the win over Montreal. His 148 yard total was the 2nd-highest of his career (156 on Jul 22/16 v SSK). 20K / 89.7 Rating BLM: Bo Levi Mitchell (20,221) has surpassed the 20000-yard mark becoming the CFL's 34th QB to do so. He trails #33 David Archer (20,671) who is next up the list 450 yards ahead. He leads the CFL with a 103.9 pass efficiency mark and is #2 with an overall 89.7 CFL Quarterback Rating (right behind Mike Reilly at 89.8). His 13.9 yard average throw depth is #1 in the CFL. - 35/11.7 Pts Allowed: The last time that Calgary allowed fewer than 35 pts in their first 3 games was 47 years ago (9 PA in 1971). Their pace of 11.7 per game is the lowest by any CFL team since the 1964 BC Lions at 10.5. Calgary's club record is 18.5 in 1970. - Field Position Last Meeting: In their game two weeks ago, Calgary started 3 drives deep in Ottawa territory and cashed them all into TDs. The Stamps began drives at the Ottawa 17, 37 and 23 yard lines for 21 of their 24 points. - Sacks Allowed: The Stampeders rank #1 in the CFL allowing just 3 Sacks in 3 games and have a current streak of 17 straight possessions without allowing any at all. They have ranked #1 in the CFL in 4 of the last 5 seasons in Fewest Sacks Allowed. - Leading After Q1: If Calgary gets up after 15:00 they usually win. They are 1-0 in 2018, and 65-12 since 2011 when up after Q1. - 2nd Dn Conversion: Something will have to give in this game as Ottawa is #2 in allowing Opponents to convert at just 40% on 2nd down plays vs Calgary at #2 on Offence (54%). Ottawa also ranks high on Offence at #4 (53%) vs CGY whose defence is #3 (41%). - Combined FG kicking - 16 in a row: Rene Paredes and Lewis Ward are a combined 14-of-15 this year - Paredes has now made 16 straight and 34 of his last 35 tries dating back to Sep 4/17. - Don Jackson 80+: Jackson has at least 80 rushing yds in each game - the last Calgary RB to do that? Jon Cornish Sep 1-13/14. - Michael Wakefield: Recorded two Sacks last week and is one of only three players with at least three Sacks thus far. - Leading After Q1: If Calgary gets up after 15:00 they usually win. They are 1-0 in 2018, and 65-12 since 2011 when up after Q1. - Eric Rogers: Leads the CFL with 3 TD receptions - all of them in the last 2 games in which he has 10 of his 11 catches. - Greg Ellingson 30 straight: Last week extended his consecutive game streak with a reception to 30 games in a row. - Leone & Maver: Have combined for 5 punts where the opposition was forced to start inside their own 10-yard line. CFL Record Performances & Trends in Brief:  Jeremiah Masoli 300+: Has tied the CFL record with 9 consecutive 300-yard passing games matching Sam Etcheverry (1956) and Kent Austin (1991) who each made it to 9 games in a row 62 and 27 years ago.  Long FGs?: In 2018, there have been just 4 field goals attempted from beyond the 50-yard line. Sean Whyte, Lirim Hajrullahu have made from 50+ while Justin Medlock missed from a season-high 59 yards. The tendency to go for 50+ kicks has been falling steadily since 2016 when there were 44 tries from 50+ yards, and only 33 in 2017. The 2018 pace? Just 20 tries from 50+.  Long kick returns?: In 2018, there has been just 14, a pace for only 71 big plays all year. In 2016 there were 107 long returns.  2-&-Outs Up?: In 2018, there have been 9.9 per game compared to just 8.7 last season. Net Offence overall is down by 2%.  Converts at 93%: In 2018, there have been just 4 misses for a 93% mark. The highest % since the distance moved out to 32 yds._____________________________________________________________________________________________
  19. Who couldn’t love this Touchdown celebration walk? Hilarious!
  20. Is it legal to glue that horn-blower’s lips to stop that annoying horn?
  21. 2018 CFL GAME NOTES • BC AT WINNIPEG Recent BC v WPG matchups: The teams have played 16 times since 2011 and are even at 8 wins apiece - 11 of the games have gone down to the final 3:00. BC won 2 of the 3 games last year but have just one win in Winnipeg in their last 4 visits. Matt Nichols has started for the Bombers in the last 6 meetings with BC and is 4-2 in those games. Jennings 20-20: Jonathon Jennings brings a .500 record into this game - he is 10-10 on the road and 10-10 at B.C. Place. Nichols: Came off the IL early and may start. Since Jul 28/16 when he became #1, Winnipeg is 21-9. They are 2-2 without him. 2nd Down Conversions 61%: The Bombers are at record pace thus far having converted 61% of their 2nd down opportunities. The CFL record (maintained since 2008) is 55% set by Montreal in 2008. In 2-&-6 or less situations the Blue Bombers have converted 25-of-34 chances (74%). By contrast, BC is just 37% on 2nd down conversions overall in 2018 and rank #7 in the CFL. Pass Defence Deep: BC's pass defence ranks #9 in the CFL allowing 303.5 yards per game. Of note is that they have allowed 4 TDs and 115 yards per game on opponent deep throws of 20+ yards downfield, two more than any other club in only two games. BC Lineup Turnover: BC's 24-man starting lineup has shown major changes since Week #2 in 2017. Compared to the 24 players who started in their Week #2 game last year - 13 starters were new in their most recent game, a Week #2 loss to Edmonton. High Scoring Offence 28% TD Rate: The Blue Bombers lead the CFL in scoring through Week #3 at 34.3 points per game and 31.7 ppg of that has come from their offensive unit. They are by far #1 with a TD drive rate of 28% having registered 11 TDs on just 39 possessions. They have cashed in on 18 of their offensive drives when adding in Justin Medlock's 7 FGs. 1K Rushing pace x 2: Winnipeg comes into Week #4 with two of the CFL's Top 5 rushers including #1 QB Chris Streveler with 183 yards (Pace: 1,098 yards over 18 games). Andrew Harris is #4 with 201 yards (1,206-yard pace) and leads the CFL with 43 carries. RB receptions/Carries: After 3 games last year Andrew Harris had 16 catches for 120 yards, in 2018 he has 12 for 91 yards. He has made up for that rushing however with 14+ carries in each game, the most he has had in a 3-game stretch since Aug-Sep 2016. BC Defence: In their win over Montreal the Lions allowed just 10 points and 335 net yards. In their Week #2 loss at Edmonton, the Eskimos rolled up 504 yards including 191 rushing. Edmonton built 5 TD drives on 13 possessions in dominating possession at 34:36. Bryan Burnham: The Lions' wideout had 13 catches for 161 yards through 2 games last year - in 2018 he has 7 for 44 yards. Comparing his Targets through two games - 2017: 20, 2018: 11, just over half as often as last year. OTHER OBSERVATIONS ON CFL GAME #25: - Run Focus: BC is 2nd to Winnipeg in % of plays that are rushes. BC is #2 at 41% run, Winnipeg is at 46% (CFL average = 37%). - RB receptions: After 3 games last year Andrew Harris had 16 catches for 120 yards. In 2018 he is down to just 12 for 91 yards. - Jennings passing: He has yet to reach 200 yards in his two starts and with BC's focus on the run has 24 attempts in each game. - 12 points up: The Lions led by 12 against Edmonton but could not hang on. They lost twice last year when leading by 10+ points. - Road record: The Lions are just 1-6 in their last 7 road games but that one victory was in Winnipeg in Week #20 last year. - Darvin Adams: The Bombers' wideout had 14 catches for 159 yards through 3 games last year - in 2018 he has 6 for 107 yards. - Adam Bighill: Leads the CFL with defensive tackles and is yet again on 100+ pace (126 given his 7.0 per game pace). - Marcus Sayles - 1 GP, 1 Int: The 1st-year player waited only 4 plays into his CFL career to record an INT which he returned 36 yds. - 4th Quarters: Last year the Lions' scored 44 points in the 4th Quarter against Winnipeg with totals of 18, 14 & 10 points. - Chris Rainey: At 166.5 Rainey is #2 in Combined yards per game trailing only Christion Jones (177.0).
  22. Hamilton at Saskatchewan: CFL - Game Notes The Riders come into this matchup with Hamilton with a 3-game winning streak over them and with wins in 4 of the last 5 games played in Regina. Their sweep over Hamilton in 2017 was built on a 6-2 edge in Turnovers and having built a 17-point lead in each contest. Brandon Bridge's only 2017 QB start was against the Ti-Cats in September. -👁‍🗨 They’ll need more than 6 turnovers to win this one Jeremiah Masoli 300+: Comes into this week with 8 consecutive 300-yard passing games, can pass Mike Reilly (2015-16) and Anthony Calvillo (2012) and move into a tie with record holders Sam Etcheverry (1956) and Kent Austin (1991) who each masde it to 9 games in a row of 300+ passing yards. Masoli has thrown just 4 interceptions in his 291 pass attempts during his 8-game run and his 70.5% completion % is well above Etcheverry's and Austin's in their streaks. 👁‍🗨 I see a record tie coming up... At 348.3 yards per game thus far, Masoli is on pace for a 6,270-yard season - well above the Hamilton club record of 5,367 yards set by Henry Burris in 2012. The 6k passing mark has only ever been reached 5 times in all of CFL history and not since 2004 (Calvillo, 6,041 yards). Hamilton at 2-1: The Ti-Cats were last at 2-1 to start a season back in 2009 - they had a streak of 8 consecutive seasons across 2010 to 2017 in which they were NOT above .500 through their first three games. - Hamilton 2nd halves: The last two games, the Tiger-Cats have allowed just 7 points in each 2nd half and have a 29-14 edge. - Saskatchewan Defence / Two-&-Outs: The Riders forced Montreal into 13 Two-&-Outs last week - that is the most by any CFL team in almost 5 years dating back to Winnipeg's 14 Two-&-Outs on Sep 27/13 vs BC. The total of 21 outs in the MTL-SSK game last week was just 3 short of the most since the CFL began to track them in 2007 (CFL record 24, 2 times). - Saskatchewan slow starts: A Rider loss this week would mean a fourth consecutive season at 1-3 or less after 4 games. Since 2015, they have been much stronger in the second half of the year. In the first 9 games over that period they are a combined 7-23 .233, and yet have raised that to a 12-15 .444 mark over the second half of those three seasons (2015-17). - 4 Interceptions: The Riders tossed 4 interceptions last week - the most by a Saskatchewan team since Aug 20/16 (5 Ints vs HAM). - 13: Namaan Roosevelt was targeted 13 times last week, one short of his career-high of 14. He extended his reception streak to 38. - Messam: Suited up for the Riders but did not get a single carry for the first time since September 21, 2014 (a run of 59 games). - Brett Lauther: Made all 3 FGAs last week to run his streak to 8 (since missing his first attempt of the year). Leads CFL with 8 FGs. - Charleston Hughes: Added his 103rd Career Sack last week and leads the CFL with 4. He is two short of a tie for #10 all-time. - Larry Dean: Leads the Ti-Cats with 17 tackles thus far, good for #4 in the CFL through Week #3. He is #4 with 22 Defensive Plays. - Christion Jones 3K: To Week #3 leads the entire CFL in Combined Yards with 531 and on pace for a 3000+ yard season. Only one other Rider has ever had more than 3,000 yards in a single season - Corey Holmes in 2005 with a club record 3,455 yards. JOnes rtanks #3 in the CFL in both punt return average (14.5) and kickoff return average (24.3). - 5 Receivers only: Last week, the Ti-Cats threw to only 5 different players - the lowest total since 2007 (data available to then). - Top 6 CFL Receivers: The Ti-Cats focus on so few receivers in 2018 means that they have 3 of the Top 6 and 5 of the CFL's Top 14 leaders. Hamilton's running backs have been targeted only 6 times all season with just 3 receptions. - Shaq Evans: Despite having only 12 targets, Evans leads the Riders with 133 receiving yards. He is 2-of-4 on deep 20+ yard passes. - Brandon Banks: Posted a CFL-high 16 target last week, the most by any CFL player since S.J. Green had 18 in Week #3 last year. - Banks II: Over his last 13 starts, Banks has averaged 92.8 yards per game - equivalent to 1,670 yard pace for a full season. - 12 in a row: Lirim Hajrullahu's made FG streak is now up to 12 in a row, just 3 short of his career-long run of 15 straight (2016). - Few Close Games: Of the 14 Riders-Ti-Cats meetings since 2011, just two have been decided by 4 points or less. - Slow starts: A Rider loss this week would mean a fourth consecutive season at 1-3 or less after 4 games. - Red Zone: Hamilton has cashed in on 6-of-8 Red Zone chances while the Riders have gone 2-of-4 inside the 20-yard line.
  23. Why are we allowing such a backhanded slap to the face of the Bombers in such a thread as this?
  24. We will beat BC at home and away.
