  1. The way the refs have been calling those out of bound tackles throughout the year, I was more than a little surprised at the leniency shown on some Lion tackles. I mean, they were not just finished plays...they were out of bound tackles.
  2. That would be incredibly good news. Fingers and arms crossed, but seeing as the Bombers only need 1 victory to secure home field advantage, I would target the Lions for that win, and sit Adams for the Toronto game. That shoulder, in any case, is going to be sore and movement will be restricted. Rest is needed. I’ll even give him a doctor’s note..
  3. The Bombers may have to slap a soft cast on Ian Wild’s arm and get him in the lineup ASAP. Wild, is a terrific pursuer and gets to the ball carrier quickly. He is not as good a tackler as Leggett, but then again, who is?
  4. I love it when a team tries to force things to happen. That was the case with Williams. It just wasn’t going to happen with Cindy, and yet, that was prominent in their game plan. And with the pressure our D-line was pushing, those calls fell right into our game plan. Bravo, Khari. And thanks!
  5. I like what the Lions did with Johnson at RB and the direct snaps. I like it so much, we should incorporate it with Harris. This would be right up his alley, especially if they create an alley for him to run in. Then, as was mentioned last night, run that play a couple of times and reverse it with LanKford’s speed. This would work and Harris would get his yards...and the Bombers would move the ball.
  6. Denial is one thing, hope is another. The late season injury bug has tackled the Bombers late in the season. It doesn’t take a medical expert to realize the injuries to Adams and especially to Leggett, are serious. Call it what you will, but those boys will only be watching the rest of the games from the sidelines... The next man up, for the Bombers has never had more significance. Leggett, who was having a real impact on our defence, will sorely be missed. He was our defensive juggernaut.
  7. My gob. The Bombers play excellent defensive ball for most of the game, score more points than the other team, win their 11th game of the year, clinch a playoff game, improve their home win record to the 2nd best in the league, and folks come on here and piss on the players and Coaches and complain? I guess they’d rather be in a Montreal, Hamilton or BC, so they could really have reasons to complain...
  8. I appreciate what MOS sees in Hurl; calls a good game for LB positioning; fills the right gap and occupies an O-lineman; runs sideline to sideline in pursuit. What I would appreciate more; Continue to call the right defence for the LBs; Fill the right gap to shed the O-Lineman and make the tackle; run sideline to sideline to make the tackle...not to be next on the scene. The difference is in our perception of the prototypical MLB. We just don’t have that, and when the pressure isn’t there, and the mistakes pile up, we see who’s slow out there, and it bothers us. Its either love or hate...there is no middle ground, so to speak...
  9. Jovon was talking about his release from Montreal this season and that defence.
  10. After Week 16 Bye - Calgary Rod Pedersen - Regarding the bizarre Twitter rant that rookie first round pick Cameron Judge went on Saturday night, Jones said Judge is rehabbing his shoulder injury in Los Angeles, living with his father. Jones spoke with the player, his agent and his family after his Twitter comments and said Judge is doing well and is expected to rejoin the team next week. Ted Wyman - Adams has become an important deep threat for the Bombers. He is third in the league with 13 catches for more than 20 yards. Only S.J. Green of Toronto and Greg Ellingson of Ottawa have caught more deep balls. WBB - "I remember seeing Charles Roberts out one time and saying I was going to come take his job." - Andrew Harris Have you seen the Flanders flip? Four quarterbacks passing for 5,000+ yards in a season has only happened twice previously: ◦ 2004: Anthony Calvillo (6,041), Jason Maas (5,270), Casey Printers (5,088) and Danny McManus (5,034) ◦ 1993: Doug Flutie (6,092), David Archer (6,023), Kent Austin (5,754) and Tom Burgess (5,063) • Both Trevor Harris and Kevin Glenn have a chance to reach 5,000 yards. Harris would need to average 426 yards per game and Glenn would need 313 yards per game. • There have never been five quarterbacks with 5,000+ yards in the same season. • Last season Mike Reilly (5,554), Bo Levi Mitchell (5,385) and Jonathon Jennings (5,226) eclipsed the benchmark. Calgary’s Alex Singleton became the first player to reach 100+ defensive tackles this season. He’s averaged 7.3 tackles per game this season. • To this point, there are four additional players on pace for 100+ tackle seasons: ◦ Solomon Elimimian – 133 tackles ◦ Alex Singleton – 131 ◦ Kyries Hebert – 116 ◦ Larry Dean – 109 ◦ Bear Woods – 100 • Elimimian needs seven tackles in his game in hand to surpass Singleton for the league-lead. On the offensive side of the ball, four receivers are on pace for 100+ receptions: Brandon Zylstra, Brad Sinopoli, Andrew Harris and Luke Tasker. ◦ Andrew Harris is on pace for 116 receptions ◦ Brandon Zylstra is on pace for 109 reception ◦ Brad Sinopoli is on pace for 105 receptions ◦ Luke Tasker is on pace for 100 receptions After week 15 Andrew Harris needs 19 receptions to set a new league-record for receptions for a running back. Craig Ellis had 102 in 1985 with Saskatchewan. • Calgary’s Rene Paredes has now taken over number one all-time in career field goal percentage. He has accomplished this in part due to his current streak of 18 consecutive made field goals. His career percentage is now 86.8%. • Winnipeg’s Justin Medlock was ahead of Paredes but went 0 for 3 last week in field goal attempts to bring his average to 86.2%. Winnipeg’s 10-3 start is the best start they have had since 2001 when they began the season 11-2. SJ Green has had the most 20+ yard targets this season with 42, followed by Greg Ellingson (35) and Darvin Adams (30). Green also has the most receptions downfield 20+ yards with 19 (45%). Bryant Mitchell has the best percentage by catching 8 of 10 targets 20+ yards down field. • Penalties are down 12% compared to last season at 15.57 per game. • Red Zone: BC has the best red zone efficiency at 70.5%. The East Division-leading Toronto Argonauts have a league-low 44.4%. • 27 % of Winnipeg’s points scored this year have come after forcing a turnover. • Ottawa has attempted (19) and converted (13) the most two-point converts this season. Winnipeg has the fewest attempted (4) and fewest converted (1). Three teams this year have scored 40+ touchdowns: Calgary (47), Winnipeg (45) and Saskatchewan (42). The RedBlacks franchise has not beaten Chris Jones since it entered the CFL in 2014. Jones is 7-0 versus Ottawa in the regular season. If there is one CFL-wide statistical result that shows little change year-to-year it is Red Zone TD%. In 2017, that rate is 56.4% (led by BC at 71%) and matches exactly the 56% average over the 10 years since data was first collected starting in 2008. The Bombers have not posted a 6-game home win streak within the same season since 2001. The Bombers have had two 5,000-yard passers in their history with the club record being 5,334 set by Khari Jones in 2002. Matt Nichols needs to average just 232 yards per game to become the 3rd Blue Bombers QB to over 5K. If Nichols averages 298 yards per game he will exactly match Jones' total of 5,334 - Nichols pace is for 5,322 to Week #15. The Tiger-Cats are one of three CFL teams not to have a kick return touchdown this season. This comes in the wake of 25 kick return TDs for Hamilton between 2009 and 2016 (14 punt returns, 7 off Missed FGs and 4 kickoff returns). In 2017, they have just one punt return of 30+ yards. Ryan Lankford sweeps: Lankford has been called on 5 times in recent games to rush the ball and has gains of 10+ yards on 4 of them. He is averaging 14.4 yards per carry in 2017. 11. Getting slapped in the face and kicked in the behind by Hamilton, may be a good tonic for us. Focus. We need to get back to it. I don’t believe we cannot win with a Richie Hall defence. I don’t think there is anybody who is pushing for a defence like ours. Too many question marks. But we’ve seen some good play from those guys, and that’s what it will take to win playoff games. A good defensive game plan and, of course, execution. There is no way in a buck’s worth of quarters that we’re going to dump Hall now, so we better get used to it.
  12. ?‍?The worst way to find out the result of a PVR’d game when you’re out curling, is 5 minutes before leaving the upstairs lounge, the person next to you, sees the scores, and announces who won. Then, to make matters worse, we find out they’re Rider fans. Double depressing. ?‍?The Bombers should have been prepared for that play to Banks. That’s all they have. ?‍?Wow, a Bomber loss and I see all the critics and slammers are out..in full force. ?‍?Is it so hard to accept that we got outplayed by a desperate team? Kind of.. ?‍?Yes, they did out-Coach us too. ?‍?I would classify this as a very ‘untidy’ game. ?‍?Now you know how Montreal beat Calgary. ?‍?Despite all the daggers pulled out, ready to slash the lineup, only injuries are going to change the lineup. Fans have got to be ready to accept that. ?‍?Possession...we never had it. ?‍?Discombobulated . DiscomBomberlated ?‍?Despite the gloomy outcome, it’s lucky were in a position to shrug off this loss, learn from it, and move on. ?‍?Too many sacks allowed though, one led to Nichol’s injury. ?‍?Harris 819 rushing. Passing - 783 yards 4 games remaining. Needs 181 yards rushing or just under 46 yards/ game Needs 217 in receiving or near 58/game. ?‍?Game changer - Hamilton’s quick kick on3rd and 2, and resulting TD. ?‍?That was the best game I’ve seen Masoli, and Hamilton play all year. In the 4thQ, he Ticats offence took control, putting together a possession that ate up 8:45 off the clock in a 14-play drive was finished off with a three-yard touchdown pass from Masoli to WR Luke Tasker. ?‍?That drive made Nichols’ injury somewhat irrelevant. ?‍?I don’t think there was a facet of the game where we excelled. ?‍?Huge “give your heads a shake” to all the fans chirping on Davis. He just needs a little playing time. He stood in there, made the reads, executed the plays. What? He didn’t go 14-14 in his throws and lead a spectacular comeback? Go figure. He’ll be alright. He did throw 9/14 anyways, in limited time, and had 2 noticable drops that didn’t help. ?‍?Experience. You can’t buy what Davis has just picked up in a half of football. ?‍?Santos-Knox is a football player. ?‍?Hamilton out-gamed-planned us.. ?‍?NOTE - Paul LaPolice called 8 running plays. – Andrew Harris only had 9 touches, 5 of which were carries. ❓❓ ?‍?Okpalaugo was noticable..in a good way ?‍?Love, love, love that direct snap to Adams and pass and the resulting 44 yard gain. ?‍?Randle - Hero to patsy, over 100 yards against, plus a TD. Same for Walker. ?‍?Other poor performances...the O-line, (Bryant)and LaPo’s play calling ?‍?World’s biggest NON-SECRET - we desperately need a MLB. I’ll settle with keeping Hall if we could have a dominant MLB. Chris Randle: "They came out and punched us in the mouth." #Bombers ?‍?How bad was that Bomber game in comparison to other games? Well, if Ed Tait is at the top..for sportswriters, then the Bombers were on the Paul Friesen level. ?‍?Darrin Bauming - Trent Corney was spotted in a walking boot after the game. Timothy Flanders also suffered an injury and did not return. #Bombers ?‍?Bombers’ tackling an issue, or was it Masoil? RT .@mitchrosset #Bombers head coach Mike O'Shea says he isn't concerned about Nichols injury. #CFL Ed Tait - 82: The number of offensive plays run by the Ticats, totalling 475 yards. Winnipeg, by comparison, ran just 63 offensive plays. ?‍?Still, wouldn’t it be nice to officially eliminate the Lions from contention over the next few weeks? ?‍?New focus. Secure that home playoff game. ?‍?Horrible weekend..Bomber loss..Rider win..trolls coming out. ?‍?Might have to hide out for a while.
  13. Too bad they internet in Philadelphia...
  14. Which begs the question...which four posters?
  15. Hey, you got a minute? To make an error, during the course of rapid play, is somewhat understandable. To not be able to monitor a fixed clock is damned unbelievable and unreasonable.
  16. Darrin Bauming - The #Bombers are working out their new practice roster arrivals, including quarterbacks David Washington and Josh Straughan. What a great looking facility!
  17. First of all, what you’re saying covers two different things. Of course the hogs and Nichols and receivers and Bob Irving and everyone would be ecstatic if that 1000/1000 thing came to pass. Who wouldn’t? It would be quite the accomplishment indeed. But if you look at Mark F’s post, just above mine, it virtually says the same thing. “To answer, he (O’Shea) said individual records are fine, but don't really matter to him, or his players. it's team first. they will do whatever is best for the team.” IMO, they will try for the record, but it will not be their uppermost goal. That is the team thing. They’ve proved it before and they’ll stick to it for the W. I’m not sure what you’re saying here. That they won’t go for it because of the money/bonus situation?
  18. His journey was made all that more perilous for all his travels...??? CARBONDALE — Former SIU quarterback Josh Straughan is getting a professional opportunity overseas. http://thesouthern.com/sports/college/salukimania/former-saluki-straughan-signs-with-cfl-team/article_620dd73f-aed8-5433-a10c-4a52fdcac2af.amp.html
  19. If we’re going to be honest, Andrew Harris’s bid to achieve that record faces at least 2 obstacles. Firstly, it is not a team goal. The team comes first. Winning the game comes first. Being ready for the playoffs is next. Andrew Harris was only 26 yards away from rushing for 1000 yards last year, and yet, they did not feed him the ball in the last game against Ottawa. He rushed 10 times for 60 yards. Normand rushed 8 times in that game. They did not push for it. And yet, they threw the ball for Dressler to get 1000 yards. Now, this is a different achievement for sure. They have time until the end of the year to game plan for him...but will they? I wouldn’t be more happy if we see evidence of a push beginning next game. But it won’t be their prime goal. The team comes first. And opponents are aware of what Harris is seeking. They will know he will be getting the ball in some form, or another. For the W. Thats all that matters..
  20. So, anything on that new QB the Bombers signed? “The #Bombers have added QB Josh Straughan to the practice roster. Product of Southern Illinois. Not a runner, but he's got an accurate arm.”
  21. Always get the reader to engage his/her mind...the resources should be there. Another layer...
  22. OK, for that action, I’ll give him some slack, and may even name a sandwich after him..
  23. In my opinion, they’re waiting for a suitable Sunday to play Givens...not just any one.
  24. And there it is..
  25. And well they should.. See the above post for the video of that play.
