  1. And just when things were calming down over there...
  2. Good. Now they can get that ugly green off his profile picture and replace it with the classiest uniform in the league. Signing Zavian Bingham means we can put a little 'Zing' in the secondary. I think he's only 23. Nope, 24 After he put out that twitter, this was one response:
  3. Rick Zamperin reports on the Hamilton Tiger Cats. The Jones he speaks of is Mike Jones, the receiver who was suspended for 2 games for a drug violation. The rest is all Hamilton stuff...
  4. Here's a shot. Take it any way you want... And Duron Carter.... Chill, We had it too ??? been like that all week This explains so much about that organization....
  5. Week 14 Bye- Edmonton David William @TSNDaveNaylor - Point of comparison between CFL rosters in Ottawa and Montreal. Number of players over 30 on active rosters: Montreal 20. Ottawa 3. #CFL ?‍?Average # of QB pressures Eskimos got in 7 wins: 12.7 In 5 losses: 7.6 Rick Zamperin - What a year - The Jones suspension, the Johnny Manziel rumours, the Art Briles disaster, the coaching changes, the 60-1 debacle in Calgary, Will Hill grabbing an official, Demond Washington spitting in the face of an opponent, and the 2-9 last place record. Lowell Ullrich - Triple whammy for #bclions : Micah Awe, David Menard & Chris Rainey all fined by #CFL for hits in Calgary loss Ed Tait - Since opening in 2013, Investors Group Field has drawn 1,149,565 fans to 41 home games – an average of 28,038. ?‍?This gif and the runner, represents the Eskimos 7-0 start, and the wham! It's CFL.ca - Since 1970, seven Canadian quarterbacks have started a game: Eric Guthrie, Gerry Dattilio, Luc Tousignant, Greg Vavra, Bob Torrance, Giulio Caravatta and Brandon Bridge. West Division Streak: Calgary has won 16 games in a row versus West Division teams. it's the longest divisional win streak. Toronto won 15 consecutive games in 1996-1997. The longest pass play this season was from Mike Reilly to Vidal Hazelton for a 108-yard touchdown versus BC in Week 6. Will Kevin Glenn get his 100th win against Calgary? Answer - NOPE Roy Finch now has 1,009 punt return yards to become the first Stampeder in history to accumulate more than 1,000 punt return yards. The CFL record is 1,440 by Edmonton’s Henry ‘Gizmo’ Williams in 1991. Brad Sinopoli leads the CFL with 36 second down conversion receptions. He is on pace for 50, which would break the CFL record set by Ben Cahoon at 45 in 2004. Winnipeg is the only team this season to average more than 100 rushing yards a game (104.9). ?‍? Reportedly, this is the dance that O'Shea did for his team on his birthday... Derek Taylor - To @HenryBurris's point, CFL teams don't abandon the run when behind until the 4Q--82% pass. Winning team drops to 54% pass in 4th. ?‍? The theory of Darvinism - as in who needs a flag to get a first down? 3downnation- The Bombers have a number of pending free agents to re-up before next season — Maurice Leggett, Stanley Bryant, Justin Medlock, Chris Randle, T.J. Heath, and Jamaal Westerman, among others — and Dressler could be the odd man out. ?‍?YIKES! It's been reported (3downnation) that Ian Wild could return next week? Congratulations to former Blue Bomber and University of Manitoba product Teague Sherman on signing with Ottawa earlier today. Sherman is one of the CFL’s good guys — the league is a better place with him in it. Blue Bomber Talk - #Lions loss reinforces what I wrote here: a #Bombers win next week over #Esks would essentially guarantee a home playoff game. Drew Edwards - After missing two FG early, #Ticats Sergio Castillo took a motivational call from his girlfriend at halftime, then kicked the game winner. CFL is calling it a fumbled snap by Coates. No convert attempted, so Medlock's perfect record in Winnipeg stays intact. - That'll be a sixth consecutive first quarter in which the #Als have failed to score a point. #AlsMTL outscored 132-17 in the first half the last 6 games. This says it all. No points, no wins #CFLGameDay ?‍?It's been revealed that the real reason for the Alouettes ineptitude is their desire to get the #1 draft pick. Possibly to trade it for a QB, whom they will later just release. ? ?‍?Jones? did a swearee on National TV. The swear jar is bursting… ?‍?The concession stands and washrooms must have been busy, busy, busy during that Calgary game at Mozaic, as the crowd was announced as a sellout. Strange though, because there were always empty seats…. CFL.ca - The Argonauts offence had a productive night on first down with 270 of their 328 yards coming in first down situations. -LB Bear Woods recorded his 300th career tackle late in the second quarter and finished the game with eight tackles and a quarterback sack. Woods leads the Argos in defensive tackles with 74 on the season and has posted 6+ tackles in eight games. (?‍?This ex-Alouette guy.) - Lirim Hajrullahu connected on four field goals in the first half with a long of 39 yards. The Western product has now converted 36 field goals on the year and is on pace to break his single-season high of 40 set back in 2014 when he was a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. -The Argos defence wreaked havoc on Als Darian Durant on Saturday night, sacking the veteran QB four times and picked him off three times on the night. ?‍?Just want to remind TJ Thorpe that Timothy Flanders spent 9 weeks on the PR last year. Now look what he's doing… ?‍?So, were the Bombers right about picking up Darrin Adams when he was made available? Damned rights! I also seem to recall some were questioning his work ethics.. Matt Nichols said, in Tait’s article: “He’s a guy that I’ve been saying for a long time is the most-underrated receiver in the league,” said Nichols. “He just does so many dynamic things for us and has a big-play ability. Some of the catches he was making, very tough when it’s not raining let alone some of the conditions we had out there.” Ian Hamilton- Roughriders, who lost their 10th straight regular-season game to Calgary. The Roughriders had the ball 11 times with Glenn at the controls. Those possessions ended in eight punts, one interception, one failed third-down gamble and the halftime whistle. ?‍?Let's see, the Stamps get 5 FGs and that's good offensive power. When the Bombers do it, they were ineffective and were lucky to have a good kicker… ?‍?Everybody spewing their views on whether Calgary’s Tunde Adeleke. led with his head, and why an initial penalty wasn't flagged, and yet, I've heard many different views on that hit. So, if an official misses the helmet contact because the tackler turned his shoulder and, in a fraction of a second, the guy is down, who really is in error there? The review got it right, there was helmet contact, but was it a penalty? Bombers - “When the big boys see some rain, we think more running. We love it.” ?‍?Timothy Flanders just created a Bomber Fan for life with that little gesture of giving the ball to that little girl Carter speak - Then I get a penalty for telling them to do their damn job!!! Every time we get that crew smh... same crew from Winnipeg....?‍?Yep, hired and paid for, Duron. ?‍?Little bit of puffery from Charleston Hughes "Just to be clear, (Saskatchewan's) offence didn't struggle today,'' Hughes said. "We completely shut it down.'' "Not only do we have the most dominant front four in the league, our backup defensive linemen are making just as many plays as the starters, and we had our way with (Saskatchewan) today,'' Hughes said after a dominant defensive showing on the Riders' home turf. ?‍?BLM has not lost to Saskatchewan in 8 tries.. the Stampeders did not record a major for the first time since Nov. 1, 2013 in a 26-7 loss to the BC Lions. -Time of possession (36:10 to 23:50) and rushing attempts (28 to 12) https://www.stampeders.com/2017/09/24/stamps-leave-riders-green-with-envy/ Bob Irving - Mike O'Shea tells his daily CJOB coaches show that Dressler will be out for a "couple of weeks for sure" with injury suffered vs Ott. ?‍?I expected to see a Mulumba signing in these past days off, and an announcement of such. Do you realize how much of a jolt of excitement that would bring about? ?‍?BL Mitchell continues to hold down #1 spot in the CFL's staff version of QB rankings, and that's fine and dandy, he's a good QB. But it does bring up the point that he plays for the Stampeders, who are a prime example of how an organization should be run. I mean, he gets credit for win streaks and Western wins, and tweeting toughness, and best winning percentage, but c'mon, he plays on a pretty good team. Here's the CFL.Staff ratings: https://www.cfl.ca/2017/09/25/quarterback-index-less-mitchell-ray/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+CflcaStaffCflca+(CFL.ca-+Staff++marquee%2CRead%2Cwriters%2CIndex%2CTSN) WEEK 15 Saskatchewan @ Ottawa- Friday Montreal @ Calgary - Friday Toronto @ Hamilton- Saturday Winnipeg @ Edmonton- Saturday Bye - BC
  6. Disagree that the fans chant this as a tribute to the ownership. I just think it's a fun thing that the fans have enjoyed and because it WORKS. I mean the words and the anthem make it a natural thing to do. Let the fans enjoy it. And yes, it should just be a Jets thing. As to the Bombers, that first down chant works also, and it keeps the fans engaged. It's a fun thing and if the fans are still going along with it, let 'er rip. Whats annoying is a stadium/arena announcer going full tilt, and hamming it up like his VOICE is what matters, and the game is a secondary event that just happens to be his vehicle for his own purposes. Something like the Argos stadium announcer. And, how would you like that blasted horn at their stadium going off every few minutes...just because. No, a Winnipeg fans have it good, and should appreciate that fact..
  7. There is laughter in a slaughter, you just have to look for it. Therefore, I hope there is a slaughter out there today among those two teams, and the laughter that will ensue will occur if it's the Riders who have been taken to task. Either way, we can't lose by any result. That's the benefit of taking care of our own business.
  8. There, there my dear fellow, ease up on the angst. Take a little time enjoy the victories and our position in the standings. Breathe.. Yes, the Eskimos can prove to be a tough opponent, but you have to realize that they must look ? to our team as being a formidable opponent as well. Somewhere out there in Edmonton land is a squeekflex model 28 who is pointing out all the areas where the Eskimos should be worried about the Bombers... It does work both ways...
  9. ?‍?Matt brought up a point when Harris scored a TD...then got hit after the fact. Player safety. If they're serious, that should have been a penalty ?‍?Noticed blocks by Lankford and Adams, Gudino and Flanders. Really, I can't remember when we had as capable blockers in our receivers..for the most part. ?‍?If you're getting tackled by Leggett..you're getting tackled, he doesn't let go. ?‍?Well, I guess only Nichols can throw in the rain...pretty good performance. ?‍?Super quick Moe Leggett on the fumble.. ?‍?Mug and catch anyways. Darrin Adams gets mugged, but refuses to drop the ball. Darvinism, at its best! ?‍?How valuable are those snaps for Dominique Davis? ?‍?7 catches 195 yards up and Adams! ?‍?Flanders - this double dual RB situation is awesome! ?‍?The ever innovative Justin Medlock. Always looking to make the right punt/kick. I seriously underestimated this guy when he wasn't a Bomber ?‍?Field position....Bombers. And if they didn't get it initially, they worked for it ?‍?Agree on O'Shea's yellow flagging that PI...to keep momentum, even though it didn't result in points. But then again, how would you know? ?‍?No way Lindley was going to beat us. ?‍?553 yards offence ?‍?Only 6 penalties for the clean Bombers, and the turnover battle was won again. ?‍?That Strike to Harris by DDavis..could have been a TD. ?‍?Loffler is back...noticeably ?‍?The secondary looked like...a secondary. Well, at least against a thirdary QB ?‍?Hurl with the hold, Jeffcoat with the strip...nice. Wouldn't be a stretch to say that was the play the Bombers needed to get going ?‍?LaPo really mixing things up in there. A nice variation in plays. ?‍?What's domination without a little Dom? ?‍?Dom - deserved that TD pass to Harris..that he dropped - cut Harris ? ?‍?What comes after a strong Harris run? A trail of defenders in his wake ?‍?Wow, that is some rain..?☔️ Sarah Orlesky - I've worked #CFL sidelines since 2008 and I've worked in the rain a lot. This is the worst I've ever been in. Darrin Bauming - CFL stats correct/eliminate Matt Nichols' INT. He hasn't not thrown one at home in: 206 attempts, 321:00 of game-time, 21 quarters. #Bombers Matt Nichols - "I told (Adams) walking in the hallway this week this was going to be the week to get him over the century mark." ?‍?And Adams produced "Darvinism" Adams is now the CFL’s fourth-leading pass catcher, on pace for career highs in yardage (1,441) and touchdowns (9) - 3downnation Faith Ekakitie recorded his first career CFL tackle in the 2nd Q. ...It's a start. ?‍?Bomber's offence...methodical ?‍?So, what if it wasn't raining? What then for total yardage? "At one point in the third quarter, Maher had more punts (9), than Lindley had completions (8)." Ted Wyman "The Bombers ran the football effectively, with Harris amassing 83 yards and Flanders another 55." ?‍?Did the Bombers even know it was pouring rain at times? They didn't play like it. ?‍?Whenever a Bomber makes a big play on D, I'm not surprised it's from Moe Leggett ?‍?The Flanders got to see their boy Timothy (don't call me Tim) play a great game and score a TD, for the first time in his pro career. ?‍?Ha. Jermarcus Hardrick. O-lineman Jermarcus Hardrick, apparently wanting to one-up Harris, decided to forgo the leap he invented last year and simply walked up the stairs and into the stands for some love. Paul Friesen ?‍?Really like that receiver sweep featuring Lankford and the boys.. ?‍?2/3 into the season..9-3 ?‍?No rush? Or good offensive line play by Ottawa? ?‍?Bombers' up tempo pace is fun to watch 3downnation- The Bombers averaged a stunning 8 yards per 1st down play as they racked up 27 first downs and 513 yards of total offence ?‍?361 passing yards and another 192 yards on the ground. ?‍?Love seeing all 3 QBs in the game ?‍?How 'bout that Nichols and his scrambling ?‍?Yesterday, for the W, could have meant Wind or Wetness, but the back-from-the-bye Bombers were not distracted. For the W, no matter what the W threw at them in that game. ?‍?Love how Denmark contributed.. ?‍?Hit of the night? Thomas Miles on McDuffie I believe. ?‍?Santos-Knox..keeps looking like a player ?‍?Talk about focus with the Bomber receivers.. ?‍?Talk about the drive by Harris and the elusiveness of Flanders. What a combo! ?‍?What do Andrew Harris, Timothy Flanders, Weston Dressler, Clarence Denmark, Ryan Lankford, Matt Nichols, and Dan LeFevour have in common? They all rushed in the game vs Ottawa. ?‍?Harris - only 31 yards behind league leader Jerome Messam. 3rd in league rushing. ?‍?Speaking about Teague, he signed with the RedBlacks this week. ?‍?Matt Nichols is now 19 and 6 in his last 25 starts with a 70% completion rate, over 7,000 yards passing, and ten 300+ yards games. He also leads the league in TD passes this year with 24. ?‍?Ryan Lankford leads the CFL in kickoff returns with 1,107. ?‍?Justin Medlock has 39 field goals on the season so far... tops in the league and six more than 2nd place Rene Paredes. AND NOW IT'S TIME FOR A WELL DESERVED REST...
  10. Now we're worried about your sanity...?
  11. Yes, I guess Thorpe in unique in tha regard..
  12. Wiecek: I strong believe Wiecek has the bolded words mixed up.
  13. As disappointed as I am to lose Thorpe, I'm somewhat disappointed in Thorpe himself in his decision making. I'm pretty sure they talked over a career path for him and a way to see himself starting in the lineup. Perhaps this is a reflection on why he no longer is a Bomber. A different outlook on where he stands as opposed to how well he was doing.
  14. I can't say for sure, but I believe what comes after is 'to animals'
  15. Sometime today, in the 1pm range, after practice, O'Shea will be asked the very same questions about Thorpe. We'll see what the master of no response has to say. I'd have to agree with those who believe Thorp asked for his release because of lack of playing time, and the reasoning behind the roster choices. Or not.. Dozens of players sit and develop on the non-active rosters. Thorpe wasn't one of them?
  16. Used to? Does every sport have the same kind of announcers? It just doesn't work for me. Nothing personal. Is it for you?
  17. No, not because she's a woman. Strictly the voice. It's the same for me for some other sports voices. For example, Michael Breed of the Golf Academy has a voice you can only listen to for awhile. I'm strictly gender neutral unless there is reason. And for me, there was reason. I'll tell you what, I'll give her another listen next time and see if I can get over it..
  18. ...... I have to ask... Why the cloak and dagger stuff? What is the injury? I know they wanted to know the extent of the injury, but now that they know... Is this wrapped in another scenario? Or are we just anxious to hear another storyline to make up for this one? And did he hurt himself strumming that damn banjo?
  19. If I didn't know better I'd swear the word redundant was created for Paul Friesen..
  20. BITS AND PIECES... ?‍?There is a technical term for what Darian Durant is going through. It is called the yips. A John Hodge proposal - Winnipeg defensive tackle Drake Nevis for Saskatchewan receiver Caleb Holley The Riders recently lost 320-pound newcomer Nick James to injury, leaving a sizeable hole in the middle of their defensive line. Enter Nevis, the plus-size free agent signing who has failed to live-up to expectations in Bomberland. Holley, meanwhile, has averaged 57 receiving yards per game in his young CFL career and would bring some much-needed size to Winnipeg’s receiving corps. Nevis and Holley are free agents at the end of this season, allowing both clubs to get to know their new players before committing long-term. - http://3downnation.com/2017/09/18/four-trades-that-should-be-made-before-the-deadline/ "You can see the excitement of guys getting back here." - Matt Nichols ?‍?I have to ask...Who's the Alouettes' QB coach? Brian Brohm? ?‍?Is it irony for the Riders to have Bridge work and still have gaps? ?‍?The CFLPA and the CFL Head office are both on board in regards to player safety. Perhaps the players should read the memos. Right Micah Awe? Justin Dunk - Canadian receiver Mike Jones has tested positive for a banned substance and is facing a two-game suspension in accordance with the CFL’s drug policy. CFL News - #Redblacks sign International linebacker Greg Jones & International DB Dacquan Pace #CFL via @OSEG_Media mailchi.mp/oseg/redblacks… ?‍?I have to ask...Isn't a performance-enhancing drug supposed to improve ones performance? Ed Tait - Jamaal Westerman is a spectator again this morning at #Bombers practice Bauming - Westerman did not practice yesterday, and is again a non-participant today. #Bombers working fellow Canadian Trent Corney at his DE spot. - Just my gut — I think Westerman will start and play Friday night. #Bombers #RedBlacks Justin Dunk - Saskatchewan has brought 30 year old receiver and return man Jacoby Ford to the province’s capital, per sources
  21. Reilly had two head injuries, but only one was from direct contact, ie. helmet to helmet, in the last game. That one was missed. His first head trauma was caused when his head hit the ground after, what I considered a legal hit in the chest area.
  22. If Tate had been playing, and I'm pretty sure he won't, then I'd give consideration to being apprehensive. Unless there's something we don't know about Lindley, I'm pretty sure we're going to bring it on Friday, and mix a lot of Blue in that Red and Black. We'll be ready...will they?
  23. ICYMI WEEK 13 Bye - Winnipeg Santos-Knox - “The Banjo Bowl was everything they described and even more. The atmosphere was amazing, the fans were amazing. It was just a great time.” Ed Tait - Moe Leggett numbers to munch on: In the last six games since he returned from injury, he has 25 tackles, three sacks, one interception for a touchdown, three forced fumbles and a punt-return TD. -Clarence Denmark’s two TDs last Saturday gave him 14 scores in his last 21 games since returning to the club. He now has 30 receiving TDs, tying him with Gerald Wilcox on the Bombers all-time list. And more on the receiving front… Andrew Harris pulled in another five receptions for 26 yards in the win over the Riders. He now has 69 this year – just two shy of the Bomber record of 71 set by Robert Mimbs in 1991 – and still on pace to break the CFL record for receptions by a running back, 102, From last week -USports - Guelph 82 Windsor 10 The #Esks have open tryouts coming near the end of the month. Former #Riders DB Justin Cox hit with two assault charges 3downnation.com/2017/09/11/for… #YQR #Saskatchewan #CFL CFL News - While white stripes would remain on #CFL ball, the new balls would essentially be an NFL football with a CFL logo on it. - @JDunk12 Blue and Gold CFL - On TJ Heath While Chris Randle tightened up his coverage after last week’s poor performance, Heath couldn’t do the same. Heath was responsible for Naaman Roosevelt during his 75-yard touchdown and was beat every time that he was targeted. Heath held Roosevelt to only four catches, but gave up a few big plays – 111 total yards against the Bombers’ DB. ?‍?Hmm... sounds harsh if correct Rob Vanstone - Nichols had frequently been forced to check down to shorter passes during the Labour Day Classic, in which only 27.1 per cent of Winnipeg’s throws travelled 10 yards or more. In the rematch, by contrast, a whopping 60 per cent of Nichols’ throws were in 10-plus territory. The previous high against Saskatchewan this season was 51.2. The average length of Nichols’ passes increased from 7.1 yards (Sept. 3) to 11.7 (Saturday). #BCLions hire long time defensive back Ryan Phillips as a regional scout in the Seattle area. Dave Naylor - Hearing that the @EdmontonEsks have brought-up Cdn receivers Shamawd Chambers and Cory Watson in trade conversations. May be cap-related. Dave Dawson - Chambers is making over 100 k this year, made 185 with #Riders and get this. Has **never** had a 100 yard game in his 6 year #CFL career. ?‍?After shopping Chambers and Cory Watson around, the Esks caught a fish… ? Dave Dawson - DB Emanuel Davis has averaged 104 yards against per game. Yes, averaged. #Ticats #Riders ?‍?There are a lot of things to celebrate in a football game. Finally getting a 1st down..in the 2nd quarter, is not one of them. Hello Hamilton. ?‍?Hey, if the Riders are happy with Bridge as their QB of the future, I'm ok with that. And for that matter, if the Ticats are happy with Mazoli as their QB of the future, I'm ok with that too.. ?‍?Ticats elect to throw the ball at the 1 yard line..to Banks? There are only 2 things wrong with this. 1st - throwing the ball. 2nd - throwing the ball to Banks… Leader-Post - A graduate of the South Alabama Jaguars, Bridge completed only 50.9 per cent of his passes as a collegian. There were also concerns about his mechanics, considering that his throwing motion is rather unorthodox. After Friday’s game, Bridge boasted CFL career stats of 70 completions in 101 attempts — a 69.3-per-cent accuracy rate — for 871 yards, with eight touchdown passes and two interceptions. His quarterback rating: An eye-popping 113.9. ?‍?Seeing MOS being interviewed live during the game reminds me that we now have a stable, even respected chain of command. Exactly the kind of hit that has to be taken out of the game. That non-call was flAWEd. How is this not blatant enough? ?‍?Alex Singleton became the first player in CFL history to record 10-plus tackles in three straight games. Super jealous that Calgary nabbed him... CFL.ca - Across the CFL there have been 3,637 pass attempts made or about 37 per team per game.
