Regular Season - Bomber News, Developments & Speculation

From field level...or ball boy boo boo In the BC game, in the 2nd quarter, at the 11:19 mark, Matt Nichols, on 2nd and ten, completed a short pass to Andrew Harris, who proceeded to get 14 yards on the play. However, he fumbled. No call was made on the field as to a fumble. How many remember that series? I remember the series, but it's what happens just after that play that a problem occurs. We didn't get to see any of it because of TSN's wonderful in-game interview policy. This time with Randy Ambrosie. The Bombers wanted to hurry up and get the next play underway before BC could have a look at it. Trouble was the ball boy hadn't brought out a ball. He had seen the fumble and was waiting for a ruling. Trouble is, that's not his call. He's supposed to bring out a ball to the officials for the team on offence. Since the Bombers got the ball late, they couldn't get the snap underway and that gave time for BC to see the fumble on replay and challenge the ruling. They did, and a Bomber fumble was ruled. Since BC recovered, it was now BC ball. That change of possession led to a BC fg. Mike O'Shea and Matt Nichols were livid, but there was nothing they could do... It just goes to show there is more to what happens on the field than we can see. -
Drew Edwards reports -The Ticats are set to shuffle their coaching staff, including a change at defensive coordinator. Defensive coordinator Jeff Reinebold, who has been with head coach Kent Austin for his entire four-plus seasons in Hamilton, will be replaced by linebackers coach Phillip Lolley. http://3downnation.com/2017/08/07/ticats-set-shuffle-coaching-staff/ Good, more confusion.. Also, Drew Edwards Looks like offensive tackle Tony Washington is coming to the #Ticats. #Esks announced his release an hour ago. #CFL

Ed Tait hits another one on this feature about Hardrick. It's hard to not to like jumpin' Jermarcus . Jermarcus Hardrick “And this team… that’s my other family. I only had one kind of emotion growing up: I was mad or hating or angry. I didn’t love. Football was the first thing I loved besides my family. I love coming to work with the people I work with. They make it so much fun. And Matt Nichols… he’s a fearless quarterback. I just want to thank him every day and make him know I love him. I tell him I’m willing to do anything for him because I know he will for me. I love everything about him. https://www.bluebombers.com/2017/08/07/long-read-side-jermarcus-hardrick/ -
For that special occasion..

BC clearly was in command in this game. 38 minutes in possession time and 547 in total offence. They only had 2 sacks on Kevin Glenn, but they hit him and pressured him. THAT'S how you beat Glenn. This was easily Glenn's worst game of the year. He never looked comfortable and never got in rhythm. I don't know who will be QB for Sask. when next we meet, or even if they will be in contention, but if it's Glenn, then we have a nice blueprint to follow.
-
Yes, I like us being positioned so high but I don't understand the thinking behind rating us ahead of a team that has beaten us...with all else being equal.
-
C'mon man, you gotta know where you are on the field

Easily the most entertaining game of week 7 was the Bomber game.. This game ended as it should have, a humbling loss for the Riders..

The Lions have a unique streak going in that they have turned their last 10 Red Zone opportunities in a row into touchdowns. They are 16-for-18 in the Red Zone in the last 4 games Jeremiah Johnson leads the CFL with 7 TDs and is the only player to have at least one touchdown in all of his club's games in 2017. At B.C. Place, Lulay's W-L record is 24-9. Lulay comes into this game with the 3rd-best QUAR Rating in the CFL at 90.8. Kevin Glenn has thrown for 1,598 yards and 11 TDs through 5 games - the most of his entire CFL career at this point. Here are his 3 best starts - 2017: 1,598 yds, 11 TDs; 2007: 1,555 yds, 7 TDs; 2010: 1,519 yds, 8 TDs. BC brings a 6-game win streak vs the Riders into this game Glenn will be making his 197th career start (96-99-1) and is 8-15 vs BC all-time. Over their first 4 games, Saskatchewan was held to just 5.8 yards on 1st down and that put them into 2nd-&- long situations a CFL-worst 14 times per game. Last week, their 7.8 yard average on 1st down had them in 2nd-&-short much more and overall allowed them to convert 15-of-24 on 2nd down (63%). Duron Carter: Caught a season-high 9 passes last week for 131 yards - that is only 25 yards less than he had in all of the Riders' first 4 games this year. It was his first 100-yard game in his last 10 appearances. Cameron Marshall: Recorded the CFL's third 100-yard rushing game of 2017 last week with 110 yards on 18 carries. He is on pace for 1,138 rushing yards and to be the first Rider 1000-yard gainer since Kory Sheets in 2013 (1,598). Nic Demski: Has continued to be a valuable kick returner but after 14 catches in Games #1-2, he has just one catch since then. Lulay vs Glenn: The most frequent head-to-head QB Starter matchup in Travis' career was 11 meetings vs Henry Burris. The next two are against active QBs and that is 9 starts vs Ricky Ray, and 8 vs this week's opponent Kevin Glenn (6-2 vs Glenn). ___________________________________________________________________________________________

THE MORNING AFTER...WITH COFFEE ??Geez. All Nichols does is compete and give us a chance to win. And he did it again on Friday. Against a higher ‘ranked’ QB. Weird eh? ?? Just love that innovative, huddle on the sideline, ready to go offence, they displayed last night ??I know a ref who is going to be spoken to about a severe non-call that O'Shea had to challenge.. ??When is the last time we held a QB to 263 yards passing on 39 attempts? From the league’s leading passer. ??New name for the O-Line….the hands team? ??Slap me with stunning elation on our 1st play from scrimmage…a 79 TD pass ??Here's a good stat - 148 yac yards for the Bombers, 84 Ottawa ??Two Words...Feoli-Gudino John Hodge reports The Bombers moved 2017 second round draft pick Qadr Spooner from the practice roster to the one-game injured list this past week. I wonder if the move was prompted by a West Division rival trying to claim him? ??You know what's growing?…Confidence ??Once the challenge flags were done with, we just paid attention to the game. That was satisfying. ??Does anybody question Lankford’s value now? "I knew (Matt Coates) would come through and he did." - Justin Medlock ??Love the options Flanders gives us.. Derek Taylor - Into Week 7 Redblacks D gave up the most rushing YAC (3.1 yds) and 2nd-least receiving YAC (4.1 YAC/rec) ??Hey, is Trent Corney coming along good or what? ??Coach LaPolice mixed it up pretty good last night. ??Now, if only they could do something about the Nichols-to-Gudino long passes..we'd be set.

Not wasted in that sense, but rather for having to use it..on a play that probably could have drawn a UR penalty for that forearm to the head. But the ref did get the incomplete call right and he was quite animated about it. He will be spoken to..
-
Loved the flow of the game after the challenges were exhausted, but I sincerely hope they tweak it again this week to allow more challenges if successful on the 1st. That is really all they have to do..
-
You know what else was highly visible tonight?...the solid tackling by the Bombers.
-
LOFFLER, a great play to rip that ball out of Powell's hands and into Randle's...for the TD!
-
To all the sports writers and pundits who didn't give the Bombers a chance to win... Whoop T Doo boys, whoop T Doo
-
You know who had a huge hand in the winning of this game? HC Mike O'Shea. We won the toss, and gave Ottawa the ball to start both halves, bu we retained the wind in the 4th quarter. Tell me that wasn't a massive call..

Well, how in the hell could we release him? Being injured is never a good sign for any draft pick. It limits both the player and the team that drafts him. Maybe that's it for the kid. Maybe not, but wouldn't you really like to know if he had something to begin with? Keeping him around was never a problem for the Blue until now. Maybe now there is a replacementski, but it really was only the fan base that complained about him. And for no reason. Can you imagine the hue and cry if we had released him too early and he went on to better things? No, his time will come, one way or the other. -
Gotta like this stat...
-
Yes, I remember that too, and now cfl.ca reflects that fact..
-
What I want is for the Bombers to finally have control of a game, each and every quarter. I realize that Ottawa is the favourite here, and are due for a breakout game, but then, so are we. For the W!
-
Game high 9 tackles, 1 QB sack. For comparison, Singleton, team high 7 tackles..no sacks.

Well, that would be the next man on the fine list - Stefan Logan who criticized the refs and specifically mentioned Ackie's hit as being 'clean'. Stick to returns Stefie, leave the evaluations to the pros... -
Listen, I yelled at Trestman to not challenge that play..but he ignored me. Where's the trustman?
