Odds and Sods - Montreal Als at Blue Bombers
Mr Dee replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
We didn't quit. They just didn't see or figure on that play by that Alouettes player. That was a real heads up play. He had the wherewithal to locate the loose ball, and while jumping out of bounds, still manage to tap the ball back into play, all in a matter of a couple of seconds. Great football play. -
I consider this article to be an unusually bitter, personal attack on MOS. It's based on unfounded guesswork and a surprising lack of insight and research. For shame Wiecek, it's really poor piecework designed to fan the flames of ignorance amongst those fans who know no better. It's pathetic really, and for one who is critiquing another so ruthlessly, you are embarrassing. And you will be considered that among your peers. Such a low brow column really doesn't deserve any consideration whatsoever and if you were only half the man MOS is, you'd still be considered a pathetic writer..

41-40, (42-43), 33-25, 43-40 What's going on?
Mr Dee replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Even though it looked like a weak call, I love the fact that you could clearly hear the Ref. calling out "ball gone, ball gone!" But, he no listen. Suffer the consequences baby! -
You have to give that Montreal team credit. Except for the ending, they called, and executed a pretty darn good game plan. This is the team that beat Calgary and are going to give other teams a run for their money for sure. But holy-jumping-sheep-****, wasn't that a colossal effort by the Bombers to end the game? NO QUIT!
-
I cannot dispute anybody's choice mentioned in this thread, that's for sure, but I'll give it to the D for a specific series that definitely aided in the win. And that was when the Alouettes, in a great football play, moved the ball on that catch and fumble, where they moved the ball all the way to the 1 yard line. But the Bombers held fast on 2 enormous stops, and forced the Alouettes to kick a FG. 4 points saved right there, where it would have been easy enough to let them score a TD. NO QUIT!
-
They're starting to call it the Montreal Miracle, but that miracle monitor belongs with the Milt TD. However, in those Bomber last drive(s) did anybody really believe that the outcome would change? But the Bombers, in 13 plays, using 8 short passes and 2 longer passes, somehow managed (Nichols) to avoid (duck) some pretty ferocious pressure and move the ball....and score. Not once, but twice. So, I guess it can be described as a miracle.. NO QUIT!

Good for you. I would never leave a CFL game early, for exactly this reason..
-
You can keep the ball ?Andrew, you deserve it.

Yes, he says "Not sure about that" Unbelievable. Couldn't be missed..

So, helmet to helmet isn't a RTP penalty in Sask? Sorry, forgot to explain what RTP means (roughing the passer)

Looking Ahead: Montreal Vs Winnipeg
Mr Dee replied to Taynted_Fayth's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Kevin Fogg is definitely the better punt returner, but Lankford stepped up tonight.. -
Yeah, saw you whining like crazy on your own site. By the way, it was a touchdown...
-
Did they win?
-
This is a very unrecognizable feeling.. I mean, did we just pull the biggest, fattest rabbit out of a hat? And Medlock? Talk about pulling yourself together. A tip of the hat to MOS. Not an ordinary kick to the sidelines like every other team, but a perfectly executed kick to the hash marks, and the rest was pure will. Nichols getting that far on a run...whoa. Enormous effort. And, of course, Harris, who is a RUNNING BACK...
-
WHAT JUST HAPPENED?
-
I purposely posted those stats in my post in game notes because it should be pointed out. I've not seen too many flattering mentions on Lankford's kickoff returns, therefore I figured it had to be pointed out to show the other side. It is a snapshot of a point in a season, just like all stats are at any point of the season. The bolded part is exactly why it should be pointed out. He's not last in that category, he's first. Let's just celebrate the good..there's too little of it.

What would it take to fire a coordinator?
Mr Dee replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I see you...on the road...I just never know which direction you're going. -
I think this game, if we don't sack Durant, we will pressure him, and that will lead to good results..

GAME DAY BOMBERS! Reminder that tomorrow's game vs @MTLAlouettes is carried live on ESPN2 in the US. #Bombers CFL NOTES **Winnipeg has a 49-19 (+30) scoring edge in the 3rd Quarter but that has turned itself around in the 4th Quarter with opponents outscoring them 42-9 (-33). Winnipeg has yet to score a 4th Quarter touchdown this season. **The Blue Bombers are the only team to go over the 20-point mark in one quarter and they have done it twice. Winnipeg scored 21 points in the 3rd Quarter in Week #1 and repeated that feat last week in BC. The last time **Winnipeg had two 20-point Quarters in one season was 2010 (Jul 24/10 & Oct 11/10). **The Alouettes have allowed only 15 points in the 1st Quarter all season thus far but unusually have led just once (and losing that game at that). Opponents are averaging just 3 points against Montreal in the opening frame and have been forced to kick or turn the ball over 13 times in 17 possessions. **Harris has made 28 receptions in 4 games - averaging 7 per game and is on pace for 126 for the season. That is far ahead of the CFL record for running backs set by Craig Ellis in 1985 of 102 receptions. **This game features the #1 defence in the CFL in Montreal who has allowed only 21.8 points per game against the #2 scoring team in Winnipeg at 32.0 ppg. Montreal has allowed only 9 "big plays" (#2 in the CFL) while Winnipeg has allowed 16. For starting QBs, Durant and Nichols have met twice before with Nichols leading his club to a win each time. **Ryan Lankford leads the CFL in kickoff returns with 550 yards in just 4 games, on pace for a season total of 2,475 which would easily surpass the CFL record set by Ian Smart of BC in 2008 of 1,805 yards. The Blue Bombers record is 1,695 by Eric Blount set in 1998. Lankford is #2 in combined yards at 778, a pace that would take him over 3,500 yards. **The Alouettes are ranked #1 in the CFL averaging 7.3 yards per play and #4 in Net Offence (371 per game) but are #8 in scoring offence at 19.0 points per game. They have moved the ball as well as any club but their Red Zone % of just 41% is #7 ranked. The Skinny - Ed Tait On the offensive side of the ball, Montreal leads the league in rushing yards (502) but with Sutton out of the lineup, the Als may turn more to their passing game. Durant is coming off of his most successful game of the season and will look to ride that momentum into Week 6 despite the losing effort against the REDBLACKS. Montreal’s offensive line continues week after week to give Durant ample time to make decisions, with a league-low three sacks allowed all season. The Bombers defence also ranks at the top of the league in stopping the run. They have allowed a CFL best 50.3 yards per game on the ground. The Als have heavily relied on their run game thus far, but if the rush is halted, Durant must turn to his receiving core to move the chains. ?? The West is 9-2 against the East. I'm looking at the Blue to make it 10-2

Bombers @ Lions: Game Day Thread (07/21/17)
Mr Dee replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Barker here, in any capacity, would be a game changer in the long run... -
?? I noticed the Bombers failed today, in their attempt to convince the league to re-name the 4 quarters in tonight's football game to: Start 2nd Q, 3rd Q, then 2nd Q again, and 3rd Q again. That would have solved a few of our problems...?
-
??Bombers - top D against the rush ??Alouettes - top rush against a D ??But the Bombers are a whopping 1.1 more in passing yardage per game, than the Alouettes ??Montreal has 15 more total yards per game, but we have almost 2 sacks per game while Montreal has just over half a sack per game. So, to illustrate, that would look something like this.. Bombers sacksac, and the Alouettes, sa. Ed Tait - By The Numbers 3 – Average points that the Alouettes have given up in the first quarter all season. Yet, they have led just once after 15 minutes of play. 7 – Career games Darian Durant has thrown for 400 or more yards. 8 – Quarterback pressures recorded by John Bowman so far this year, ranking him fifth in the league. 9 – Touchdowns the Bombers have scored in their past two games. 26 – Receptions needed by Nik Lewis to pass Geroy Simon and become the CFL’s all-time receptions leader. 126 – Number of catches running back Andrew Harris is on pace for this year. The CFL record for receptions by a running back is 102, set by Craig Ellis back in 1982. ?? if we can keep feeding the ball to Andrew Harris in any way possible, it will greatly help Nichols in facing that ferocious defence Montreal puts on the field. We need a clear headed Nichols to execute and deliver this very winnable game..

Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
Mr Dee replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Calgary seems to have things quite in order in regards to challenges. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed this. They are ever ready to signal the Coach for a challenge and their spotters are vigilant in that regard. Any minor offence, away from the play, is duly noted and relayed to Dickenson in case they need a call. I can't go as far as Jones has stated, but it doesn't seem too far off the mark. This is result of these 'fishing calls' that I'm sure Calgary leads the league in. It's tiring and shouldn't be part of this otherwise highly entertaining sport. -
Looking Ahead: Montreal Vs Winnipeg

1290 radio 'the afternoon ride approx. 1 hour :24 into the show http://www.tsn.ca/radio/winnipeg-1290/the-afternoon-ride-july-26th-2017-1.814718 First of all, this wasn't from a 'chat' with Mike O'Shea, but rather Bauming's answer to a question posed to him as a call in guest. The question - How do think Mike O'Shea has handled the heat about his decision making on Friday night this week? Bauming - "he's handled it about as"expectedly" as we could assume and he's never been somebody that will admit he made a mistake,... he's never been somebody who would say we were wrong, we'll learn from it and move on. He'll simply say it was my call..... Then he goes on to talk about O'Shea's decision to fake that punt, so I'm not quite sure Bauming understands everything that went on in that series.. On Carmichael - what can be gleaned from that talk with Bauming is this team has faith and confidence in Carmichael and that he will continue to get better every single week,...he hasn't reached his ceiling yet....and yes, they want to see all that he's got.
