I have a problem with this thinking. We lost by 3 in a football game that was back and forth. They had a lead...we had a lead. Plays were made. So, you're saying that designed punt block was a fluke? And the fake FG? The offence didn't put points on the board? And the Lions. They didn't benefit from some plays also? No, the game was lost by 3 points. All facets of the game failed at one point or another. The Offence, the defence and special teams. The good news is all those non-executions are fixable.

In the unofficial tally in the comparison of play between Kevin Glenn and Darian Durant, Kevin Glenn is securing 1st place, and is pulling away. I'm with you on this one. If ever there was a game where Glenn would have "turtled", it would have been this one. He absolutely got rocked, in the first half, and yet he showed resilience, and came out better than a lot of QBs would have in that situation. If he can continue with the way he is playing, Saskatchewan will win a couple more games than originally figured. Yes, he is playing that well. Now, the hard part..keeping it up all year long. Who knew?

Charts? Charts? We don't need no stinking charts..

A spike in the use of Xanax was noted in the province of Saskatchewan sometime around 9 and 10 pm on Saturday night. Weird eh?

This is really not the purpose of challenges..but that's what you get. When will it end? And when will the game start?

Presenting the chance to salvage the weekend, we are provided with the opportunity to smile again with the Riders in Calgary game. The Riders, of course, had the bye last week so they are still wallowing in their glorious win. GAME PREVIEW By The Numbers 3 – Straight games Glenn has made 30 or more completions. No quarterback in CFL history has gone four consecutive games with 30 or more completions. 5 – Number of field goals made by Paredes last week. It was the seventh time in his career that he was a perfect five-for-five. 7 – Passing touchdowns for both Glenn and Mitchell heading into Week 5, tied for second in the league 14 – Consecutive games Mitchell has thrown for a major. His next touchdown pass will be the 100th of his career. 116 – Yards needed by Glenn to become the seventh player in CFL history to reach the 50,000 yard mark. THE SKINNY This is the first of three meetings between the Stampeders and the Riders in 2017. Calgary has swept the series against the Riders for the past three seasons, winning last year’s contests 35-15 and 19-10. Calgary also has a history of dominating Saskatchewan at McMahon with a recent 9-0-1 record. The last time the Roughriders won at McMahon Stadium was eight years ago back on Aug. 1, 2009. The Riders have not have had a lot of success coming off the bye week as of late, losing their past two games after a long rest. While history favours the Stamps, Calgary will have to find a way to stop the Riders’ surging offence if it hopes to come out with a win. Saskatchewan leads the league in points per game (31) and yards per game (424) heading into Week 5. ?? Are the Riders that good in the offensive dept? ?? Is Kevin Glenn going to keep lighting it up on Offence? ?? The optimism is riding high on the Rider forum, many, many picking a Rider win. ?? As I said, the weekend can be salvaged with a Rider loss. It can almost be forgotten with a Calgary over Sask. thrashing.

To be fair, Andrew Harris had 18 touches, 6 rushing, 12 receiving, for 114 yards. Johnson and Rainey had 17 touches for 108 yards, 13 rushing, and 4 receiving touches... -

Listen, this isn't hard. Special Teams spotted something the Lions were doing. It was noticed, and if the right situation came up, they were to try that play. They had practised it, but it was not the right time to try it...obviously. Medlock has to wear that one. -

Only keenly aware players know when to try and pull something off on the opposition. Clearly, Medlock isn't one of them. That had to be the worst punting Medlock has done for the Bombers, and overall, his worst game. But, he's had some doozies, so, we move on, and, next time tell Medlock...exactly what to do. -
Yes, but the same could be said for any football game where a team benefits from certain plays. And yes LaPo could do better, but you have to admit, there were a lot of mixed good plays where the Offence was rolling, where both LaPo and Nichols were on a roll with good play calling and execution. The trick is to do it for more than half the game.

I maintain it was Medlock's decision to throw that pass at that time. No way that was a called play. The Special Teams was given the green light by what the Coaches saw BC was doing and, for whatever reason, Medlock thought that was the time. A poor decision on his part. -

Let's put this in perspective. The Bombers noticed some alignment issues by BC when the Bombers were punting. Coach O'Shea, being the devilish Coach that he is, gave the green light to the kicker, that if he saw that, he was free to use his discretion in throwing the ball. Unfortunately, Medlock's discretion cost us big time. He had A green light, but it should have been amber in that situation. You just don't throw that ball, in your own zone, when you need 15 yards, that late in the game. It's not advisable, and I'm not afraid to say, it cost us the game. Medlock has also won many a game for us, so....we move on. Can we beat that BC team? You're damned right we can. -
Absolutely not clutch. But nobody is arguing that. And you can discuss the back and forth of the game all you want, because it's true. That still doesn't take away from the game Nichols did play. He had a good game...just not good enough. Will that change? It most certainly can.
-
I agree with a lot of what you said. And I'd absolutely love to get Flanders on the field. For example, in last night's game, he would have been a difference maker and definitely would have thrown the Lion's D for a loop. He would be another weapon and teams would have to adjust for him.

Boy, these Coaches have been around for a hell of a long time, eh? -
And yet, in this game where a CFL fan had to be entertained, only 1 play separated the 2 QBS. Absolutely Nichols had the better passing game, or did I miss what the final score was? That game was not out of reach despite the 1st Q. And who do you think brought the Bombers back in that game? People are quick to chastise Nichols but give no credit when credit is due.

So, Winnipeg is a terrible team for losing a game to BC, who are now 4-1? But then BC must be a terrible team too, because they gave up 42 points to an average team? Which is it? A very entertaining game between two heavy weights, in a game that could have gone either way? Or a battle of the bottom feeders who have no business playing in the West? Really, one play separated these two teams, and you can pick whichever one you want. That was the difference between winning and losing. Im disappointed, but far from disheartened. We will win our share of these...just not last night. -
Watching this game from strictly a CFL fan's point of view..it was a terrific game. It had everything you wanted in a football game. Lots of great plays. Lots of drama. Some yelling at the screen. Questionable calls. Motivated performances. Good Coaching. Questionable Coaching. And that's on both sides. Mostly, a head-to-head battle between two QBs who were laying on the line. Lulay had more big plays, but Nichols had the better passing game. Both running backs had very good, hard fought yardage. Two wizard-like OC play calling. It all came down to the wire. The Lions made 1 more play than the Bombers. Overall, like I said, from a CFL fan's point of view, it doesn't get much better than this for entertainment.

This is exactly why I wanted the Sask.-Calgary game played before our game. That way, after they suffer the consequences of believing in their one win, they will come crashing down and they won't venture onto saner sites like ours...And the writhing will begin once again. And there's no better sight than that.
