I also contacted the CFL in regards to this matter and found out that Matt Nichols was involved in such a situation... “Given the lack of formal QB starter Win-Loss rules in the CFL and NFL, win and losses are normally credited to starters. However, that does not diminish the effort of backup QBs who come in midway and turn the game their team’s way.” Travis Lulay will get credit for the win. “There have now been four known extreme cases of where the starter went out right away after no more than two plays, including Lulay’s last week. In these cases we have determined that the Win or Loss should be properly redirected to the replacement QB who was forced to step into this extraordinary situation. Here are those four extreme cases: Travis Lulay (BC - July 15th, 2017), Matt Nichols (EDM – August 23rd, 2014), Reggie Slack (WPG – July 17th, 1996) and Lenny Williams (Las Vegas – July 29th, 1994).

I agree with that, but in the most agreegious manner...

Why are we even debating this. We only have one elite receiver, but it took a few years for him to 'develop' until he could play for us. Seriously, even if Adams is considered 'good' at this time, it will take years of playing at a higher level than he is now. He has to be 'feared' by opponents, and he just isn't. It's up to him to take advantage of defenders who consider him 'lite', and I think he has the capacity. Other than Dressler, we have no great receivers, or even someone who has that potential. And I don't know why this is..

Why on earth would we consider Phillips? For his past work? -
Speaking of Dressler.... Darrin Bauming - Weston Dressler shows zero quit, ever. He just tracked down a seemingly overthrown Matt Nichols long bomb in practice here. #Bombers

AFTER WEEK 4 Bye Saskatchewan The Stamps have signed defensive linemen Ben D’Aguilar and Reuben Frank Rod Pedersen - The CFL has "dropped" the idea of tracking dropped passes in 2017 rodpedersen.com/2017/07/by-num… ?? Oh that Vince Young...such an inspiration.... Former Los Angeles Raiders and Bomber quarterback Todd Marinovich will compete for a starting role with the SoCal Coyotes of the World Developmental Football League as part of a comeback effort. The 48-year-old NFL bust, who dealt with a variety of off-field problems during and after his pro career, is set to challenge Jacob Russell, 25, for the No. 1 QB spot when practice starts Aug. 10 in Indio, California, per Shad Powers of the Desert Sun (h/t ESPN.com). **After three games, Kevin Glenn leads the loop in completions (99) while sporting an accuracy rate of 72.8 per cent. He boasts as many touchdown passes as the Ottawa Redblacks’ Trevor Harris. With 1,055 aerial yards, Glenn is third in the nine-team circuit, behind 37-year-old Toronto Argonauts pivot Ricky Ray (1,199) and Harris (1,095), and ahead of Calgary Stampeders star Bo Levi Mitchell (1,003). Glenn’s efficiency rating: An impressive 100.0. - http://leaderpost.com/sports/football/cfl/saskatchewan-roughriders/kevin-glenn-is-passing-with-flying-colours ??He also leads the league with 4 interceptions. -Kevin Glenn is 44.8% on passes 16+ yards, which is 4th-best. Ricky Ray is by far #1 at 60.0% on passes in that range while Zach Collaros is a league-worst 33.3%. -Roughriders Offensive Coordinator Stephen McAdoo oversees an offense which is #1 in offensive points scored (90) and #1 in Time of Possession (33:20). ??All these factoids about Glenn have to be taken in context…their 1st game -Eastern Montreal 2) Bombers playing their 1st game 3) Hamilton, looking atrocious Having said that, I have Glenn and SJ Green as providing the biggest positive surprises so far this year CFL Headlines - Report: David Braley to sell B.C. Arash Madani - One solution to this: The #CFL sends #Karen to Grey Cup on the league's dime. And she gets unlimited throws at Glen Johnson in the dunk tank ??What a catch by Anthony Coombs in the 1st quarter! That tip pass was impressive. ?? Another crushing hit by Taylor Loffler ..on A. Edwards 1st Q ?? Truly a great game played by the O-Line Friday night.. ??I'm going to say the evidence was inconclusive on Jackson’s punt return TD on whether he stepped out of bounds.. Ed Tait - “I had so much fun,” said Jeffcoat. “It’s good to be back playing football. It’s been too long since I played. It’s exciting to get back and play with my teammates… I love my teammates and it’s great to be flying around out there with them. ??Remarkable.. Chip Cox has missed only one game in a Canadian Football League career that began in 2006 with the Alouettes. And the only reason he missed that one, in 2010, was because the Als had clinched first place. So former head coach Marc Trestman decided to rest him for the final game of the regular-season. BC Lions Den - Instead of talking about great catches, great defensive plays that we see every game, fans talk about officiating...focus on the positives. Sports aren't life & death, it's entertainment & the #CFL is VERY entertaining for those willing to set aside the stigmas of the ignorant. ?? I agree whole heartedly! You cannot name me a sport where the game isn't affected by officiating. Nobody wants to see a game affected by Refs, but it happens, and it's up to us to deal with it, and appreciate the game.. ??Remarkable performance by Travis Lulay. Can you say underestimated expectations? ?? Question, does the CFL still have that wacky rule where the starting QB is the QB of record? And wouldn't that be weird what with Lulay’s performance? ?? It's conceivable that Ottawa and Hamilton could be winless after their first 6 games Drew Edwards - Ticats Kent Austin denies tension with QB, slams Glen Suitor Austin Quote: “That’s absolutely ridiculous and completely made up by Glen and he ought to be ashamed of himself.” ?? Now I don't know about why Suitor would say what he did, but I recognize what Austin says about Suitor making things up. Suitor is always telling us what the QB sees..what the receiver is thinking and why the tackler thought what he did. In other words, he makes thing up to suit his colour commentary. Sometimes I just say, “No, Glen, that's not what's he's thinking” But I don't think he hears me. With 1,379 passing yards, a 109.7 efficiency rating and an 8-2 touchdown to interception ratio, Harris has been at an elite level to start a season once again. ??Contrast that, with this… -At 123, Ottawa has allowed the most points in the league and they’ve manufactured just one turnover. ?? And finally, 36,260 fans went to an #Esks game on Friday night -- one of them went home $435,919 richer. edmontonjournal.com/news/local-new… #CFL Week 5 Ottawa plays 2 games! Wednesday - Montreal at Ottawa Edmonton at Hamilton Winnipeg at BC Saskatchewan at Calgary Monday - Ottawa at Toronto - the place should be rockin', it's Doug Flutie bobble-head night! Bye - the bye
-
Looking ahead to this week... I want to see Ottawa play 2 games in the following days. First up Montreal on Wednesday, then Toronto on Monday. I want to see Saskatchewan in Calgary, where their newly found enthusiasm will come crashing down. I want to see Hamilton extend their losing streak against Edmonton, then Calgary, then Edmonton again. Hamilton and Ottawa could both be winless after 6 games. Wouldn't that be interesting? Action starts WEDNESDAY in the CFL, and you know who gets the bye? The Bye does. All 9 teams in action..Don't try and figure it out. Just see @Atomic for his thorough explanation.

I'll turn to my wise and knowing fellow posters. Does anyone know if they changed the rule, in the CFL, where the starter is the QB of record. It used to be that way and if it still is, wouldn't that be an ooh-la-lay..
-
I know you're frustrated, but this statement ^^ is simply not true. There is so much action and many great plays made by a hell of a lot of players on the field and you're focusing on the Officials? Don't let the few 'errors' in the moment spoil the overall enjoyment of watching CFL football ?
-
Of course, you and your heart know full well that's not going to happen until his tenure runs its course. Or, perhaps, a HC position opens up. As for now, he's our guy. Now, the real question is, frustrating or not, can we win with him? I believe we can. It's the same situation with Richie Hall. Can we win with him? Yes. BUT, a lot would have to go our way along the road to winning. Hey, but shyte happens, we're Bomber fans, we fully aware of that.
-
No, they do make errors in the C'Mon Centre..and that shouldn't be, but the facts do not support your argument about more times than not. There were 62 penalties called over the last 4 games. You're telling me that errors were made over 31 times, and that's just wrong. We do notice the obvious ones, and they're the ones that stick out, but I really believe we take reffing for granted. It's the easy way. Blame the Refs, nobody going to challenge our indignation.
-
If you take out the emotion of the contest and just go by the ruling of the field, we're left with just the kind of result that shouldn't happen. Shouldn't, but does. The call was made in live action, and although it was a very weak call, I'm assuming the official saw a hand push the back of a player, and that player went down....Flag, righteous or not. But who can challenge that? The C'Mon Centre? On whose authority? Remember, take the contest out of it, and what you have is another error, or a bad call, or more precisely, a weak call. And that happens all the time, in every sport.
-
??That's the Nick Moore we wanted to see. But you still need a QB. ?? And this is why you ask to play Eastern teams early in the year… Drew Edwards Opposing quarterbacks passing yards vs #Ticats thus far this season: 506 yards 380 yards 436 yards #CFL - This game makes it West 8 wins 2 losses and a tie against the East
-
It's quite possible, depending on what happens in tonight's game, that both Ottawa and Hamilton could be winless after the 1st 6 games this season.. Ottawa hosts Montreal on Wednesday, then play Toronto on Monday. Hamilton hosts Edmonton, then travel to Alberta for a game against Calgary and then they play in Edmonton.
-
Typical, wild wacky CFL game. What's not to love?
-
I'm curious to know who are the two teams in the East that they will surpass for that to happen..

BC LIONS @ HAMILTON Is there a disconnect between Collaros and Austin? One says execution is the problem (Austin) and the the other says there are changes every week that they have to get used to. (Collaros) 3downnation staff CFL - GAME NOTES - This is the Ticats 1st home game. - The Lions are in the midst of 3 straight road games back in the East Division - it is the FIRST TIME in 64 years of club history that they have played three consecutive games in their schedule all away in the East. Solomon Elimimian now has 15 career games of 10+ defensive tackles in 99 career games The Ti-Cats and Lions have played 10 times since 2012 and BC holds a 7 wins to 3 edge including a current win streak of 3 consecutive games. They have not lost to Hamilton with Jonathon Jennings as their starting QB (3-0) while Zach Collaros is 2-1 vs BC for Hamilton (the Ti-Cats lost both times they played BC without him in the lineup). In two games thus far, Hamilton has led for only 5:02 of play and trailed for 104:19 out of the 120:00 game clock total. The Lions have scored 48 out of their 78 total points in the 4th Quarter Hamilton Offence - 416 in two games ?? We could really use a little help from the Ticats, but looking at how both teams have played so far this year, expecting a Ticat win may be a little optimistic??? Anyways. Go Ticats Go!

Canadian Football League Commissioner Randy Ambrosie spoke with Winnipeg Blue Bomber fan and Safeway and Sobeys’ Touchdown To Win contestant Karen Kuldys today and invited her and her family to attend this year’s 105th Grey Cup presented by Shaw in Ottawa as VIP guests of the League. https://www.cfl.ca/2017/07/14/cfl-blue-bombers-safewaysobeys-reach-karen-kuldys/ I know Karen’s a Blue Bomber fan and her son plays football, so we spoke with Wade Miller, the President and CEO of the Bombers, this morning. He immediately pledged to provide Karen with Bombers season’s tickets for the rest of this season and next season as well. Now that's a great gesture to ease the sting. Well done all around! This will spark goodwill all over...
