  1. That guy had an innovative flare for football in this the CFL league. Brilliance throughout the years. A sad day for football and the CFL
  2. The Bombers goal is to improve on their offence, which finished 6th overall last year. They have Harris back, Nichols back, Denmark, and Dressler. These are important pieces for continuity. Put them behind and offensive line that was gelling last year and is getting loaded up again to have an even better year, and there is reason to smile. Add in a receiver, Darrin Adams, who looked to be a game breaker for us, and the smile gets bigger. Everybody, including newcomers Thorpe, Liggins and Washington, among others, will be Coached once again (continuity) by Paul LaPolice. This unit, with last year’s knowledge, should be able to start faster, and this is vital. For all the talk about the Bombers being fortunate to win only because of Medlock, most critics forget that we still won those games while playing ‘catch-up’. Start faster, start stronger and this offence should be fine
  3. This is a dumb statistic to use in any argument, for or against...
  4. Don't drag O'Shea alone into this. I'm pretty sure LaPolice has a big say in how a QB is progressing, not to mention Buck Pierce..
  5. Yikes! This is terrible stuff. Apodaca was 2-6 in pass attempts in the game for 15 yards....He played. Self justification by MOS for this release? Even though it's Monday, you're sure not starting off well this week...
  6. It's kinda good that you're somehow involved in the health field, cause you're getting a ****-kicking on here today...?
  7. An interesting assortment of players, some of whom could be considered 'mild' surprises. I thought Apodaca could have been a keeper and I don't really like cutting a QB before we have another in place, so I'm assuming there is one coming up. And the release of Terence Frederick, he of two first names, means both CJ Roberts and he have now been replaced.. So, onwards and upwards. Im glad they made these cuts now so that they can focus on nailing the right lineup over the next couple of weeks..
  8. How can you have highlights in a pre-season game? Well, any good play is a highlight, I would suppose. Piece by piece, I guess we'll get some good info. -That Menard-Briere tackle to save a TD was monstrous. Here's a young guy from the CIS, be damned if that Rider was going to score on him, the last man back..?‍? -The Bombers ran a few candidates through the linebacker spots, including Knox, Temple, Kyrie Wilson and Julian Santos-Knox. Nobody popped off the page, although Santos-Knox did recover a fumble and lead all linebackers with three tackles. -Ed Tait -the Bombers used a number of imports all night up front and making arguably the biggest impressions were Cory ‘Poop’ Johnson and Padric Scott, both of whom pushed their way into the backfield on occasion -Ed Tait -I guess it's safe to assume that the QB angst we've experienced over the years has reached an all time low. We'll be solid at that position..?‍? -Langford? For real? ?‍? -not-so-Goodman? No highlights of that ejection...We'll see by MOS's actions about his future as a Bomber.?‍? -Roberson giving Flanders a run for his money? -Young Yachison having a presence..?‍? -a lot of players listed as having played defence..I would expect cuts before the mandatory cut-down date of June 17...?‍? -thanks to all who posted highlights. They were tantalizing, in the sense that we got to see those fantastic unis being used in a live game.. -I suppose you could call it a fitting end to a pre-season game - a tie.. We'll beat them when it counts.
  9. Seems like a good day to start the whippings. Let's see, the way I see it, if we can outscore them der Riders, in all the games we play them, by a score of 90 to 19, I will consider it a huge success. Yes siree, 19 for Sask. and 90 for the Bombers. 19-90...sounds about right.

  12. I love Ricky Ray as much as the next guy, but if he keeps getting hit like he did last year, then it's definitely the next man up time. Each hit takes a little more steamboats out of him...
  13. Get this guy to answer that neg. list question for you.... NEWEST MEMBER EdTait. ? Joined 3 hours ago "We give you, as an example, receiver Ryan Lankford. Now, some Canadian Football League diehards will recognize Lankford’s name; he spent parts of the last two seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and suited up for eight games last year, pulling in 19 passes for 165 yards before being released in late October. And then his phone went silent. His agent sent his highlight tape out to teams all over the pro-football map, and still nothing. So Lankford did next what many desperate to chase their dream do: he drove six hours from his home in Jacksonville to a Blue Bombers free agent camp in Miami this January, plunked down $100 bucks to participate, laced up his cleats and got to work." https://www.bluebombers.com/2017/06/08/training-camp-day-12-opportunity/ - Ed Tait

  16. This year's coverage rivals that of yesteryears but I'm not going to pick on Tait. This year he's got a different slant on the Bombers and he writes excellent articles which help fill a more long term coverage. What we're missing, and sorely in need of, is the day-to-day doses that we crave. Where are the comparisons on receivers and who's catching what and looking real smart in doing so? How are the D-linemen looking? The O-line guys in feeding them off? Kick returners? Who's doing it? Aside from the incumbents, who's running wild? Speaking of Wild, is he being challenged? What kind of workouts are happening in day 2? Day 3? What kind of throws are those QBs making? Are they looking sharp? Or not? Opinions count. So who are the leading contenders? Who's faltering? What about the draft picks? The heralded ones? The unheralded? I think these guys who cover the Bombers have a good idea what is going to happen each day of TC from the briefings, and yet, that's all we get...brief reports..if any. Do we miss Lawless that much? No. He didn't come though much either. The sports reporters are in a rut and are going with the status quo. I suppose a little laziness sneaks in too..

Steve Milton 3downnation Three of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ most important veterans are giving two thumbs-up to the club’s radically revised training camp schedule. Monday, the Ticats completed the third cycle of two days of “normal” training camp practice followed by a “recovery” day that consists of a morning circuit of wind-sprints, weight training, yoga and football-specific “corrective movement.” They also have team meetings and an hour ‘walk-through’ practice on recovery days. Ken Wiebe - Winnipeg Sun -It sounds like Austin Apodaca will be handling the holding duties on Saturday. Am mildly annoyed that the NHL is still in playoff mode - IT'S FOOTBALL SEASON! ?‍? This Vince Young thing. Easier to be released now? The spec.com The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have added two veteran players to the retired list. American defensive back Demond Washington and Canadian defensive end Justin Capicciotti are dealing with injury issues suffered prior to training camp, but it's possible both could show up at some point before the start of the season. By placing the pair on the retired list, the Ticats can use the roster spots, which are limited to 75 players (plus non-counters) during training camp until they return. There is, however, a limit in the number of transactions each team can perform during training camp, a rule that was added in 2012 Thomas Miles - There's a good competition there. I'm getting some solid reps there and enjoying the competition. All of the guys have looked really good out here,” said Miles, who is 6-foot-1 and 232 pounds. “And it doesn't matter (who is the starter). What we're trying to do is build a championship team and what that means is that whoever is the best is going to play and I'm totally cool with that. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2017/06/06/miles-makes-most-of-hometown-opportunity ?‍?1st pre-season game on tonight...not televised. 19. No need, he's already reached a lofty throne in the Hurl of Fame..
  20. Yes, 26 years without a Grey Cup victory. And 26 years is sad. Trust me, I know this. It's also sad to win only 2 in 26 years...like Saskatchewan. But not as sad as 56 years without a Grey Cup win....Saskatchewan. Well, 52, if you count the war years. Then, let me see, another 23 years after that. And, it would have been another 24 years, had it not been for a 4 point win over a rookie QB in 2007, even though they insist they would have beaten the Bombers with Glenn in the lineup. So then, it was only 18 years. We can plainly see that the gaps are getting smaller. Sort of like when the province got their first dentist. Gaps got smaller then too. Not completely, but enough to be amusing. What I guess I'm saying is, the Rider fans know of what they speak when they bring up droughts between Grey Cup wins. They're VERY experienced in that regard.
  21. ?‍?- And this was after Jones..the Head guy, asked Pedersen...the __ __ __ guy, what he thought of the mock game, and then believed his answer (far better than last year) ---- "Yeah," Jones drawled. "On both sides of the ball." - Regarding the delay in signing the club's top draft picks - Jones said the Roughriders won't be forced into overpaying for rookies who haven't played a down in the CFL. He said it's unfair to pay them more than 2- or 3-year veterans who've already proven their worth. John Murphy also chimed in that these these contracts set precedent and they don't want to set the financial bar too high for future first round picks. ?‍?And correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they end up paying just slightly less for a Judge? Just re-structured and packaged differently? - Rider President Craig Reynolds was on hand and answered some tough questions as well. He mentioned there's a $12 ticket surchage on all Rider tickets for the next 30 years in order to pay back a loan to the Government of Saskatchewan. He said much of the financial onus will be on the Rider Nation. "The #1 reason we have a new stadium is you guys, the fans," Reynolds remarked. "The people who come to the games."
  22. Count cornerback Chris Randle among the many vets who have had a good first week of work. And O’Shea has noticed. "(Randle) is a great role model for a lot of the younger guys, just watching his reps & how meticulous he is." ? | ow.ly/ZTsn30cj7p0 Blue Bombers- IF Hurl were to start, it gives the Bombers an option to start another American elsewhere – possibly in the receiving corps, backfield or along the defensive line. All that said, this battle is really just getting started with two preseason games and a bye in Week 1 still ahead before the 2017 campaign begins. Chris Walby Just thinking that I love what Bombers have put together. Lots of continuity and coaches who know how to win. Excited - June 10th start. ? That’s starting to creep out right now,” said Heath with a grin. “Big Hoss (defensive back coach Tony Missick) is starting to keep track of how many interceptions we have in practice. We want to find who those guys are.” One of the biggest confusions in all of practice is when a guy's going 80% and you're going 100%,” Corney said. “Or a guy's kind of angry at one play and you're trying to practise your technique. There's always times when guys are on different levels. Some players push the boundaries. O-lineman Sukh Chungh, known for a nasty attitude in games, too, has put a few people on the ground in camp. Chungh says it's better for everyone if they're all going at 100 percent. “At the end of the day they are our teammates and we do have that in the back of our minds,” Chungh said. “But we go pretty hard. We all know it's just competition. And if everyone's playing at 100%, there's less risk of injury.” "I'm probably a straight-to-the-throat type guy." - Don't get @MattNichols16 seeing red. 23. Yeah, it's an interesting read. We're seeing a lot more of this stuff.. Quotes he: "My first impression of being here is a simple, but important one: this is a very welcoming team." "I was in touch with a few guys before I signed here in the winter. Guys from the past and current guys." "Alex Suber really, really sold Winnipeg on me. He kept talking about how much love the fans have for their players and how much of a factor they were playing in this stadium for the defence." "I also talked to my former coach at Fresno State, Coach Plemons, who loved it up here when he was an assistant. He still has very close friends from here that visit him from time to time." "Another guy I was in contact with was Jamaal Westerman. As soon as he found out I had signed, he gave me a big welcome. You don’t realize how big that is because a lot of guys don’t do that, especially a guy at his level. That helped. It made me excited to get back up here and get to work." This is the result of treating your players like the men they are..
