  1. Gotta make sure, when posting predicted records, that wins and losses equal 81... THE WEST Gonna be a very tight race. - Calgary, BC and Winnipeg, 1-3 or 2,3,1 or 3,2,1, then Edmonton, then that Jones team. In the EAST, I probably would assign each team a number and then use a random number calculator to pick who would finish where, although I cannot see Montreal escaping the basement. Most probably, there will be a cross-over.
  2. CFL News Denmark: "Show me someone who has been as consistent as I have" - @Wpg_BlueBombers bluebombers.com/2017/06/01/den… #CFL #Bombers ?‍?Probably why Bomber players have a lot of respect for Matt Nichols... Quote from Andrew Harris: "He came in there and said, ‘I don’t know how it’s going to go, it may not always be pretty but I can promise you one thing: I’m going to be tough for you guys and I’m going to give it my all,’ " Bombers running back Andrew Harris recalled. "Sometimes guys say things and they can be all rah, rah but when he said that you could feel it, you knew it was genuine. "We believed in him and that game we were a completely different offence." "People see Matt at a practice or in a game but it starts in the classroom," added Bombers receiver Darvin Adams. "He speaks his mind, he lets us know where he wants us to be and wants to know what we’re thinking on plays. He is like another coach who is always looking to improve." "I think there’s more to it, more to add," said Bombers coach Mike O’Shea. "As time goes on, there will be more and more things to be impressed with." - Jeff Hamilton - Winnipeg Free Press MOS on Roberson: He’s competing for a spot," head coach Mike O’Shea said. "What has he done? Everything we’ve asked him to do. He knows his plays inside and out. He runs hard in special-teams drills. He’s right up there, active, doing everything we’ve asked him to do. Seems to catch the ball well. Protects well. He’s certainly a real nice piece to have in there competing." On Dressler: Did you see him get behind the coverage today?" said O’Shea. "He’s fast, he’s still fast, he’s so fast. He’s quick, he’s so smart. I wasn’t on staff when he first came into this league but he’s still a good football player, he’s a good professional and he’s a damn good athlete. I don’t know that we should be saying ‘still,’ he is, he is. When won’t he be? I don’t know. He seems to love it." http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/roberson-looks-to-carry-on-where-he-left-off-in-college-425845143.html Jermarcus Hendrick It's June! #Cfl "I'm in a good environment, good organization, good offence, around good people, playing some good football. I'm very very happy." - Kenny Stafford Full video ▶️ | http://ow.ly/eWYu30ch43E Mike O'Shea "(John Rush) is tough and he's crafty. He just gets the game." "I want guys on this team to have that experience." - What motivates Weston Dressler? Getting a championship for his teammates. Darrin Bauming Cut by the Dallas Cowboys recently, Quincy McDuffie is free to sign with any team in either league. EDIT - Woods, who was last year's East Division defensive MVP, is reportedly mulling over deal with Argos. #Bombers happy with current core.
  3. Sam Hurl and Mike Miller Sam Hurl wants his old job back. Hurl believes he’s become a better player..."I think I’ve grown up over the years," he said. "You learn a lot throughout playing football. Just another year in (defensive co-ordinator Richie Hall’s) defence. So, I think I’m continuing to progress and getting smarter and better in football. My football IQ, I would say, has increased tremendously." No doubt, there’s a lot of trust," said O’Shea of Hurl. "There are little things Sam does as a professional football player that is a great barometer for the other guys. The way he runs to the ball, his understanding of the entire defence, his willingness to speak up in meetings. Same with Ian Wild, he sets a pretty high standard. Sam has a lot of those qualities. I think also when you’ve been here, you step on the field first but Sammy does a great job." Miller went undrafted out of Acadia and played his entire six-year career with the Eskimos. His versatility is expected to be a good fit in Winnipeg. Said Miller: "There’s a good fit here. They take a lot of pride in their special teams here with coach O’Shea and (GM) Kyle Walters. I’ve always noticed how they have a good core of Canadians and special-teams players in general. "He led the league in special-teams tackles last year," said O’Shea. "You coach against a guy like that and he’s one of those guys you have to pay attention to all the time. You have to put your best matchup on him... "The film showed that’s the guy I saw at Acadia and that’s the same guy I seen with the Eskimos and now, for us. We did a drill the other day and as I watched him, he’s got it all together. He just knows how to play, use his techniques, his body." http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/hurl-sees-opportunity-to-fit-in-middle-of-bombers-defence-425845033.html

  5. ICYMI Darrin Bauming: - Clarence Denmark, again today (Tues), on the receiving end of some deep shots from Nichols and LeFevour. I would say this: in my experience with him, he’s (QB Matt Nichols) as smart as anybody in the room," said Bombers offensive co-ordinator Paul LaPolice. "He is someone who as a backup took every rep at 100 miles an hour. One of the reasons he’s a starter in the league is because of his preparation." Jermarcus Hardrick on Matt Nichols - "I’m 300 pounds and my skin shakes. That’s just what I love, that look in his eyes with that cocky swagger. 6. Coach - "This here's a football. And this is the kind of chance we have at actually winning with it. Any questions son?" Player - "What's that? I was still looking at the football."
  7. You do realize that the word giddy means more than just using the word before the word "up" don't you. From your own site... Would you support the Riders bringing Justin Cox back to the team? Yesterday, 05:28 PM Yes. 85.07% And then you read the comments in the Cox thread...yes giddy, and I'm being polite.
  8. ?‍?One of the would be saviours, at QB for the Riders, didn't last long... The Saskatchewan Roughriders announce the following: ACTIVATED: • OL, Derek Dennis • WR, Bakari Grant RELEASE: •QB, Maty Mauk. Taylor Shire Justin Cox & his lawyer now plan on contacting the #CFL to let them know of his not guilty verdict, with hopes of a return to the league. ?‍?Suspicious testimony from Cox's GF on the alleged assault, such as, when asked about her black eyes - "he didn't mean to hit me" Needless to say Rider fans are all giddy about this turn of events. I don't know, after two previous assaults, this sounds more like convincing the girl to lighten up on the facts... The verdict is based on "not guilty - not enough evidence to support the charges" not "not guilty of the charges". There's a difference... The ball is now in the CFL's court.
  9. ?‍?Love this line: "When you're on the same page with (Nichols) and he trusts you, the sky's the limit." -Kenny Stafford Full video ▶️ | http://ow.ly/8AyA30c8mOc Ed Tait - Standing out: Receivers Clarence Denmark, Kenny Stafford, Ryan Lankford, quarterback Matt Nichols, defensive back Chris Greenwood, Robert Porter, LB Roc Carmichael, RB Andrew Harris and both kickers, Justin Medlock and Félix Ménard-Brière. ?‍?Good line from MOS I think the mullet is perfect,” said O’Shea. “It goes right along with what he’s building. You add the headband in… he’s gone from Joe Dirt to John Rambo with that headband.” On Addison Richards: “He’s healthy. Good for him,” said O’Shea. “It’s been a tough journey for him. Personally, I feel for him because he’s had a tough go of it. What’s interesting is he’s stuck with it and just kept on working hard. It’s paying off for him. He’s made some nice plays already. He’s a big, fast, strong target. We’ll see how it all shakes out, but I know I’m very pleased for him.”

  16. The #Bombers camp opened with Gerrard Sheppard in Ryan Smith's old receiver spot. FWIW Darrin Bauming Medlock just hit from 55 — would've made it 60. 18. Good. Now we have our very own version of CFL Maden football...
  19. More from Ted Wyman, Winnipeg Sun: ...a position-by-position breakdown of how the Bombers look with the regular season five weeks away. An example: RECEIVERS STILL HERE — 1 Darvin Adams*, 7 Weston Dressler*, 83 Julian Feoli-Gudino, 86 Addison Richards, 88 Gerrard Sheppard*, 89 Clarence Denmark*. WHO’S IN — 2 Matt Coates, 5 Kenny Stafford*, 14 T.J. Thorpe*, 70 Brendan Thera-Plamondon, 79 Larry Raper*, 81 T.J. Lowder*, 82 Kieren Duncan*, 84 Ryan Lankford*, 87 Quinshad Davis*, 80 Darrin Peterson*, 71 Rahul Madan. WHO’S OUT — Ryan Smith, Rory Kohlert, Quincy McDuffie, Thomas Mayo THE SKINNY — Stafford, who comes over from Montreal, Dressler, Denmark, Adams and Feoli-Gudino look like the starters, giving the Bombers a veteran group of pass-catchers. Lankford has some experience, after playing last season with Saskatchewan and both Thorpe and Duncan looked very good in rookie camp. There will be a lot of competition for the backup jobs at receiver. The Bombers have to hope Richards and/or Coates are ready to step up to back up Feoli-Gudino at the Canadian receiver spot. ?‍?Wyman also follows this template with QBs, Running Backs, the Offensive line, the Defensive line, linebackers, DBs, kickers and kick/punt returners. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2017/05/27/it-all-starts-here-for-bombers?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+BlueBombersStories+(Winnipeg+Sun+B)
  20. ?‍?Getting used to the writing of Ted Wyman. He's doing a good job, imo. Ted Wyman is filling in quite nicely in his role of covering the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He keeps to the stories, so far, and doesn't let personal bias tarnish the facts. And for me, that's all I can expect from a sports writer. Here's his latest after the zBombers cut 3 players yesterday: Bell, Seastrunk, and Henry. "Apodaca, a 23-year-old from New Mexico with a gunslinger mentality, stood out over the three-day camp." Hence, the release of Bell. "Seastrunk was battling with Kendall Roberson, who clearly had the better showing and will now get a chance to compete with Timothy Flanders in main camp." "Henry, who was drafted in the eighth round this year out of the University of Alberta, will need to work on his game if he wants to get another CFL chance down the road." With Henry no longer in the picture, the Bombers signed Canadian receiver Rahul Madan on Saturday. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound pass-catcher spent three seasons with the Toronto Varsity Blues and two with the Western Mustangs. The Bombers also signed import receiver Darrin Peterson from Liberty. In three seasons there, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Peterson had 210 catches for 3,094 yards and 26 touchdowns in 36 games. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2017/05/27/bombers-trim-roster-ahead-of-main-camp?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+BlueBombersStories+(Winnipeg+Sun+B)
  21. Darron Cameron - Team will also have a few additions later today before main camp opens tomorrow morning at Investors Group Field Ed Tait - "You’ve got to have a guy down the middle that’s a strong leader that can direct traffic and have guys believe in him, fix mistakes quickly and make those plays that need to be made in a timely fashion." - Mike O'Shea ?‍?Do we finally have a candidate worthy of this statement? The key words for me in MOS's statement for me is "in a timely fashion" Ted Wyman - Winnipeg Sun FAB FIVE - Players who stood out during the Blue Bombers three-day rookie camp T.J. Thorpe The 6-foot, 200-pound receiver from Virginia showed speed, agility and the ability to catch passes while working out of the slotback position. Kieren Duncan The 5-foot-10, 180-pound speedster from Colorado State-Pueblo spent some time with the team at the end of last season and is looking like a good candidate to crack the roster as a slotback and kick returner. Padric Scott The 6-foot, 287-pound defensive tackle from Florida A & M spent all of last season on the Bombers practice roster and played one game at the end of the season. He’s looking like a good candidate to back up Drake Nevis at defensive tackle. Kendall Roberson The 5-foot-10, 210-pound running back from East Texas Baptist is already making a good case for a practice roster spot with the Bombers by showing some speed and moves in rookie camp. Austin Apodaca Looked to gain an edge in the battle for the fourth quarterback spot over Malcolm Bell by showing a very strong arm. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound gunslinger from New Mexico could get a shot to develop with the Bombers. Edit - WINNIPEG, MB., May 27, 2017 – The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has added International receiver Darrin Peterson, and National receiver Rahul Madan. Peterson (6-2, 215,Liberty, July 14, 1994 in Attalla, AL) spent three seasons at Liberty, recording 210 receptions for 3,094 yards and 26 touchdowns in 36 games. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by Chicago (NFL) in 2016, playing in three preseason games with the Bears. Madan (5-11, 195, University of Toronto, March 4, 1992 in Scarborough, ON) spent three seasons with the Toronto Varsity Blues after playing for the Western Mustangs for two seasons. He started in all eight games in 2016 and ranked fifth in the OUA with 45 receptions including 736 yards and two touchdowns. He was named an OUA second team all-star
