The release of Bell both excites me and worries me. Was he that bad to begin with or are the Bombers that much closer to having a solid core of QB candidates....finally? Are they bringing in another QB? Or were they just not satisfied with Bell's overall service package? As to Henry, there has to be more to it, doesn't there? Or simply, he's not at that level at this present time. Either way interesting cuts, to be sure. edit - just found out that Henry has one more year of eligibility, still...why this early?

Hey, I was fairly new at forums when I joined ourbombers as deeboy. Innocent to the procedures, you might say. What I read and saw when the change came about piqued my interest and the talk alone would have sent me looking for this new site. I don't feel that I was part of anything nefarious or underhanded. There has to be intent for that. A change was-a-coming, and most posters recognized that. Perhaps those who don't feel the same should have remained and never joined this 'unethical' site.

This is for tburgess's eyes only. The rest of you are not allowed to read. So don't. It involves the number of POTENTIAL interceptions that have been dropped. Interceptions that the writer claims should have been caught. These potential interceptions could have changed the course of the CFL season and thusly, the fate of the world. This chart shows Matt Nichols being close to the top (or bottom) of this category. Hence, it plays right into the hands of the "yeah but if this would have happened crowd". I mention this only because TB is the president of this club. Never mind that there are plenty of other factors involved in the dropping of 'sure' interceptions. Just read the damned chart and believe.. Courtesy of Derek Taylor Raise your hands of all those who didn't listen to my 1st line... -
Danny McManus - on Americans up in the CFL "Down in the NFL, they still let you touch a little bit after five yards. Here, I tell ’em we’ve got spotters up in the box that aren’t even watching the ball, they’re just watching the receivers. I like this. I really do. And for me, the perfect start to the season would be, with Durant at QB, for Montreal to absolutely annihilate the Riders on June 22 in Montreal. Ce serait tellement génial. -

Scribblings... Wally Buono on the Stamps “John and Dave have done a great job building their team, building their nucleus and you’ve got to be factual and say ‘if you can’t beat the best, then you’re not going to be the best’. We competed at certain points but at the end it wasn’t good enough.” I think when you look at all the Western teams, they’ve all made moves to improve their football clubs,” he added. “The West is always very, very, very competitive and I don’t believe this year it’ll be any different. Justin Dunk - Per sources, the diminutive Brandon Banks has agreed to a re-worked contract that will see him take a $50,000 pay cut in the final year of his deal. CFL Headlines Calgary Stampeders ink final unsigned player from 2017 CFL draft - Tunde Adeleke With a surprise retirement from Karl Lavoie and a Canadian draft that didn’t net the Stamps a top-flight lineman this spring, the team has made a move with Smith, who has spent the majority of his first three seasons on defence. He’s now permanently switching from No. 90 to 69, signifying his move over to guard. ??Plenty of signings and activity all over the CFL as rookies report to camp to try and learn and earn a CFL roster spot. Lots of interest from all the respective team's fans and plenty of noise being made in anticipation in every city....except for Edmonton And Reg?ina... Upcoming important dates- June 6, 2017 — Pre-season opens The first game of 2017 kicks off with pre-season action between the BC Lions and Calgary Stampeders. Every team will play two pre-season games between June 6 and June 16. June 17, 2017 — CFL rosters reduced to 46 Following a vote to eliminate the mid-camp cut-down date, expect a flurry of activity on June 17 as clubs must reduce their roster to 46 active players, excluding those on the 6-game injured list and those transferred to the one-game injured list, by 10:00 p.m. ET. June 22 – 2017 Regular season kicks off The season kicks off in Montreal as Duron Carter, Kevin Glenn and the Riders take on their former team and quarterback in the Als and Darian Durant. Riders have hope that charity will be shown by their draftees... Rod Pedersen - I've gone on record as predicting a 10-win season and stand by that. CFL-types from across the league have scoffed, "Who are they going to beat?" but my reply is, "That's why they play the games". The Riders are going into the season with a quiet confidence about them and Jones' staff feels this will be a breakthrough year. -

The only thing that I know about is TSN 2 showing that '16 game package' beginning May 25th with Saskatchewan and Ottawa. Walters made it clear that the Bombers will need to start some rookies this year just because of the salary cap. “With the escalating salaries of guys, teams across the league are going to have to pencil in a certain price point when you are doing your salary cap projection at certain positions,” Walters said. “It is what it is and every team goes through it, pencilling in what you think a price point is for that position. An All-American with the Longhorns, he is the son of former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Jim Jeffcoat. • 47 Roc Carmichael, DB: It’s a nightmare for new defensive backs to be asked to cover receivers on the wide Canadian field AND get used to the ‘Waggle’ – receivers in motion pre-snap – but Carmichael gobbled it up and stood out at mini-camp. He could get snaps at defensive halfback and the dime/strong-side linebacker spot owned by Maurice Leggett. • 65 Dominick Jackson, OL: He’s a human-eclipse of a man at 6-6, 315 and started 14 games as a senior at Alabama while being named second-team All-SEC in 2015 before stints with Washington and Detroit. • 14 T.J. Thorpe, SB/WR/KR: Another of the rookie camp standouts, Thorpe got good size at 6-0, 200 to play slot, the speed to play outside and kick-return skills. That’s the kind of talent toolbox every coach covets. • 6 Dom Davis, QB: He’s hardly a newcomer, but he is fighting with veteran Dan LeFevour to lock down the No. 2 spot behind starter Matt Nichols. And given those stakes, reps in rookie camp will mean just as much as the work in main camp come this weekend. Darrin Bauming - A couple more player additions are expected for the #Bombers as they round out their camp roster. Day 1 of rookie camp goes today at 3pm. Darrin Cameron - Medicals morning for all our rookies. @Faith_Joseph meeting with Dr. Craton in one of eight stations before hitting the field today at 3pm.

So, the very short period that rookies have to make an impression in ROOKIE Camp isn't worth the extra effort? It seems to me they could have started Rookie Camp today, in order to have more time, OR, have both camps in the SAME LOCATION. Too easy? So, 75 players, including all rookies, plus non-counters for main camp? They must have a really good read on their all their rookies or maybe they have their roster set already. It seems bass-ackwards to me. But hey, that's Regina! -

As of right now, I would give this draft a solid C grade, but it could quickly become an B if they can get Ankou across the border. Grade: C. Overall, the Alouettes did a nice job in this draft. Grade: B-. Overall, I am really not that impressed with what the Riders did in this draft, My grade will improve if they can get Auclair on the field in a Riders jersey. Grade: D. Overall they (Ticats) added depth on the offensive and defensive line and that is where championships in any league are won. Grade: B-. Overall I think new Argos G.M. may have hit a home run in this draft. Grade A. Overall I will trust that the Stamps have done a solid job with this draft because they usually do. Grade B-. Overall Wally Buono nailed it in this draft and BC should find themselves neck and neck once again with the Stampeders. Grade: A. Overall a nice job done here by the Bombers. Grade: A-. Not too much splash here, but a decent job and I think the late round picks for the Eskimos could eventually make a huge impact. The Most Important Passing Stat - 2nd Down Yardage?
Mr Dee replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
They are not. Co-ordinators are far more interested in stopping the plays that have resulted in those fancy stats. They don't care if the QB has tremendous stats, they just want to exploit witnesses in the offence that will destroy those stats. The same thing on the other side of the ball. Good stats come from being a good team and being successful. But it is much more of a team environment that leads to all stats. Statistics are the result of what happens on the field/playing surface and whether that TEAM is good or bad. It's not the other way around.
