  1. The release of Bell both excites me and worries me. Was he that bad to begin with or are the Bombers that much closer to having a solid core of QB candidates....finally? Are they bringing in another QB? Or were they just not satisfied with Bell's overall service package? As to Henry, there has to be more to it, doesn't there? Or simply, he's not at that level at this present time. Either way interesting cuts, to be sure. edit - just found out that Henry has one more year of eligibility, still...why this early?
  2. Hey, I was fairly new at forums when I joined ourbombers as deeboy. Innocent to the procedures, you might say. What I read and saw when the change came about piqued my interest and the talk alone would have sent me looking for this new site. I don't feel that I was part of anything nefarious or underhanded. There has to be intent for that. A change was-a-coming, and most posters recognized that. Perhaps those who don't feel the same should have remained and never joined this 'unethical' site.
  3. This is for tburgess's eyes only. The rest of you are not allowed to read. So don't. It involves the number of POTENTIAL interceptions that have been dropped. Interceptions that the writer claims should have been caught. These potential interceptions could have changed the course of the CFL season and thusly, the fate of the world. This chart shows Matt Nichols being close to the top (or bottom) of this category. Hence, it plays right into the hands of the "yeah but if this would have happened crowd". I mention this only because TB is the president of this club. Never mind that there are plenty of other factors involved in the dropping of 'sure' interceptions. Just read the damned chart and believe.. Courtesy of Derek Taylor Raise your hands of all those who didn't listen to my 1st line...
  4. Danny McManus - on Americans up in the CFL "Down in the NFL, they still let you touch a little bit after five yards. Here, I tell ’em we’ve got spotters up in the box that aren’t even watching the ball, they’re just watching the receivers. If a guy gets pulled after five, they’re telling Mike (O’Shea), ‘Throw the flag, we’ve gotta challenge that.’ "It takes a while"..."One full season, a guy will understand everything that’s going on. Two full seasons, now he’s able to play within that package. Usually by the third season, he’s ready to roll." (?‍? sounds like D. 5. football football football football football football football IS BACK! thank goodness...
  6. I like this. I really do. And for me, the perfect start to the season would be, with Durant at QB, for Montreal to absolutely annihilate the Riders on June 22 in Montreal. Ce serait tellement génial.

  8. Scribblings... Wally Buono on the Stamps “John and Dave have done a great job building their team, building their nucleus and you’ve got to be factual and say ‘if you can’t beat the best, then you’re not going to be the best’. We competed at certain points but at the end it wasn’t good enough.” I think when you look at all the Western teams, they’ve all made moves to improve their football clubs,” he added. “The West is always very, very, very competitive and I don’t believe this year it’ll be any different. Justin Dunk - Per sources, the diminutive Brandon Banks has agreed to a re-worked contract that will see him take a $50,000 pay cut in the final year of his deal. CFL Headlines Calgary Stampeders ink final unsigned player from 2017 CFL draft - Tunde Adeleke With a surprise retirement from Karl Lavoie and a Canadian draft that didn’t net the Stamps a top-flight lineman this spring, the team has made a move with Smith, who has spent the majority of his first three seasons on defence. He’s now permanently switching from No. 90 to 69, signifying his move over to guard. ?‍?Plenty of signings and activity all over the CFL as rookies report to camp to try and learn and earn a CFL roster spot. Lots of interest from all the respective team's fans and plenty of noise being made in anticipation in every city....except for Edmonton And Reg?ina... Upcoming important dates- June 6, 2017 — Pre-season opens The first game of 2017 kicks off with pre-season action between the BC Lions and Calgary Stampeders. Every team will play two pre-season games between June 6 and June 16. June 17, 2017 — CFL rosters reduced to 46 Following a vote to eliminate the mid-camp cut-down date, expect a flurry of activity on June 17 as clubs must reduce their roster to 46 active players, excluding those on the 6-game injured list and those transferred to the one-game injured list, by 10:00 p.m. ET. June 22 – 2017 Regular season kicks off The season kicks off in Montreal as Duron Carter, Kevin Glenn and the Riders take on their former team and quarterback in the Als and Darian Durant. Farhan Laljii - Wally says Nick Moore will be a full go from day 1 of camp. They'll evaluate Chris Williams on the weekend & make a decision. #BCLions #CFL Bob Irving - Bomber rookie camp. Bunch of guys running around? BC Lions 17– amount of mini-camp attendees that played at NCAA Division 1 colleges. A true testament to the scouting prowess south of the border by Rigmaiden. Calgary Stampeders “We’re going to come back and we’re going to be a better team and we’re not going to make the same mistakes twice." ?‍?Bombers have Faith. Riders have hope that charity will be shown by their draftees... Rod Pedersen - I've gone on record as predicting a 10-win season and stand by that. CFL-types from across the league have scoffed, "Who are they going to beat?" but my reply is, "That's why they play the games". The Riders are going into the season with a quiet confidence about them and Jones' staff feels this will be a breakthrough year.
  9. The only thing that I know about is TSN 2 showing that '16 game package' beginning May 25th with Saskatchewan and Ottawa. And I know the Riders are getting a disproportionate amount of games (5) that will be shown...but...they are a disproportionate fan base and they need to be coddled. Kind of like twiddlee dee twiddlee dum, but rather coddlee dee coddlee dumb... 11. Walters made it clear that the Bombers will need to start some rookies this year just because of the salary cap. “With the escalating salaries of guys, teams across the league are going to have to pencil in a certain price point when you are doing your salary cap projection at certain positions,” Walters said. “It is what it is and every team goes through it, pencilling in what you think a price point is for that position. An All-American with the Longhorns, he is the son of former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Jim Jeffcoat. • 47 Roc Carmichael, DB: It’s a nightmare for new defensive backs to be asked to cover receivers on the wide Canadian field AND get used to the ‘Waggle’ – receivers in motion pre-snap – but Carmichael gobbled it up and stood out at mini-camp. He could get snaps at defensive halfback and the dime/strong-side linebacker spot owned by Maurice Leggett. • 65 Dominick Jackson, OL: He’s a human-eclipse of a man at 6-6, 315 and started 14 games as a senior at Alabama while being named second-team All-SEC in 2015 before stints with Washington and Detroit. • 14 T.J. Thorpe, SB/WR/KR: Another of the rookie camp standouts, Thorpe got good size at 6-0, 200 to play slot, the speed to play outside and kick-return skills. That’s the kind of talent toolbox every coach covets. • 6 Dom Davis, QB: He’s hardly a newcomer, but he is fighting with veteran Dan LeFevour to lock down the No. 2 spot behind starter Matt Nichols. And given those stakes, reps in rookie camp will mean just as much as the work in main camp come this weekend. Darrin Bauming - A couple more player additions are expected for the #Bombers as they round out their camp roster. Day 1 of rookie camp goes today at 3pm. Darrin Cameron - Medicals morning for all our rookies. @Faith_Joseph meeting with Dr. Craton in one of eight stations before hitting the field today at 3pm.
  12. So, the very short period that rookies have to make an impression in ROOKIE Camp isn't worth the extra effort? It seems to me they could have started Rookie Camp today, in order to have more time, OR, have both camps in the SAME LOCATION. Too easy? So, 75 players, including all rookies, plus non-counters for main camp? They must have a really good read on their all their rookies or maybe they have their roster set already. It seems bass-ackwards to me. But hey, that's Regina!
  13. Darrin Bauming - Investors Group Field is abuzz with activity today. Many players already in town working out. #Bombers coaches prepping for camp. Darren Cameron - First overall selection @Faith_Joseph has arrived in Winnipeg. On field tomorrow 3pm to start rookie camp. #FortheW

Come show the team how many great fans we have! You might be able to hug your favorite player. In 2012 we had over 6,000 people at the first practice of the year. See you next week! ?‍?Another opinion on the draft... Overall I think the Redblacks added some depth to the team and had a solid draft. As of right now, I would give this draft a solid C grade, but it could quickly become an B if they can get Ankou across the border. Grade: C. Overall, the Alouettes did a nice job in this draft. Grade: B-. Overall, I am really not that impressed with what the Riders did in this draft, My grade will improve if they can get Auclair on the field in a Riders jersey. Grade: D. Overall they (Ticats) added depth on the offensive and defensive line and that is where championships in any league are won. Grade: B-. Overall I think new Argos G.M. may have hit a home run in this draft. Grade A. Overall I will trust that the Stamps have done a solid job with this draft because they usually do. Grade B-. Overall Wally Buono nailed it in this draft and BC should find themselves neck and neck once again with the Stampeders. Grade: A. Overall a nice job done here by the Bombers. Grade: A-. Not too much splash here, but a decent job and I think the late round picks for the Eskimos could eventually make a huge impact. Grade: C+. http://thegruelingtruth.net/football/2017-cfl-draft-grades/ YIKES, - Drew Edwards - "The East would need to win 108 straight games versus the West to even the winning percentage at .500 West Division poised for another season of dominance The West is 322-214-2 (.600) versus the East since the 2002 season, a 15-year period of dominance. http://3downnation.com/2017/05/20/west-division-poised-another-season-dominance/ Prospect QB Malcolm Bell - “I was scared that Winnipeg might not offer me another contract because I rejected the first one,” Bell says. “It was a pretty stressful process. I was praying a lot, wishing that I’d get a contract and there wasn’t another guy that got it over me.” “Competition has always been my thing,” Bell says. “I’ve always performed strong in those types of situations" There’s one CFL quarterback in particular that Bell compares himself to — Darian Durant, who went to the University of North Carolina just down the road from Bell in Chapel Hill. “I have been watching him,” Bell says. “Him being from UNC and North Carolina, 15 minutes away from my school, you hear his name. He’s 5-foot-11, a shorter guy, he’s been really successful, a legendary quarterback in the CFL. Somebody that was really mobile in college and went up to the CFL and developed as a passer. I started to watch him first.” http://www.winnipegsun.com/2017/05/22/new-bombers-quarterbacks-fighting-to-be-backup-to-the-backups?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+BlueBombersStories+(Winnipeg+Sun+B) CFL News - New Orleans Saints have released former #Redblacks DB Forrest Hightower. #CFL via @DraftDiamonds 3downation Armed with the data from two seasons of digitally monitoring 24 players as they went through daily practice, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats are changing their schedules at training camp and for practices during the regular season.... the first day of practice during regular season will now be a lighter one, physically, rather than the heaviest of the week. And in training camp, every third day will be less physical than the two before it, with emphasis on mistake correction, walk-throughs installing new plays and systems, and mandatory weightlifting. http://3downnation.com/2017/05/23/looking-avoid-injury-ticats-overhaul-training-camp-practices/ CFL News - Per source, the owners just passed a resolution eliminating the 75-man cutdown. So now, there'll be just one cutdown day -- 90 to 53. So now players potentially cut from the NFL will be staying down in the US longer......ramifications for #CFL roster setting to be sure. And finally... Darrin Bauming - Kyle Walters says Mike O'Shea is the best asset to him as GM, and hiring O'Shea was the best decision he has made for the #Bombers.
  16. The @calstampeders have signed 7 of their #CFLDraft Picks. Alouettes sign all eight 2017 CFL draftees en.montrealalouettes.com/2017/05/19/alo… #AlsMTL #CFL And of course, the Bombers have signed 5 so far. The Riders, in keeping with their management style, have made their weekly CFL contribution in their typical negative way. Dickin around with your top draft picks? What a way to leave an imprint...again. Thank the lorb, that we don't have this kind of bullshirt going on around here.
  17. SCHEIFELE!!! #NHLJets C Mark Scheifele is up to 3G, 8P in 9 GP at 2017 IIHF Men's World Hockey Championship. Canada will play for gold once again
  18. 5 Days until the start of Rookie Camp! 5 QBs signed to be at Rookie Camp! That can't be a coincidence...
  19. Don Coates - @TroyWestwood did you hear Scheifele's response to if he had ever felt atmosphere like in the Cologne arena? "Yes, MTS Centre"
  20. They are not. Co-ordinators are far more interested in stopping the plays that have resulted in those fancy stats. They don't care if the QB has tremendous stats, they just want to exploit witnesses in the offence that will destroy those stats. The same thing on the other side of the ball. Good stats come from being a good team and being successful. But it is much more of a team environment that leads to all stats. Statistics are the result of what happens on the field/playing surface and whether that TEAM is good or bad. It's not the other way around.
