  1. And finally... Steve Morley @SteveMorley62 .@garylawless just said on TSN, Nichols wants $450k a season and is going to free agency. Nichols response? Nichols - I am? ?‍?Well, we knew right from the start that something was up with the Bombers QB situation. I mean, 4-5 QBs and none of them signed? SNAP Hut one - Nichols is trolling for more money Hut two - the Bombers are holding fast Hut three - the Bombers are said to be in on that Franklin fellow, and there are draft picks involved. Ah, it must be close to off-season with all this buzz about.. CALGARY LOST!! U Sports Laval 31 Calgary 26 Total offence 998 Total plays 139 Net yards rushing Laval 161 Calgary. 182 10 punts total in the game. Laval had the ball 10 seconds more. Game difference - int. 1st quarter Calgary 37 yd line 1 play later, Laval scores Around 4 minutes left - punt blocked at the Calgary 49 - Laval gets the ball on the Calgary 15 yard line 2:30 left in the game, ball on the Calgary 44. Laval stops Calgary. 1:40 left in the game, 3rd down gamble, less than a yard, Calgary stuffs Laval, take over the ball on their own 34. They move the ball all the way to the Laval 23 yard line. 3rd down gamble. 23 seconds left. The QB hits his receiver at the 14 yard line but is rocked by a tackle and Laval takes over. CFL Game Notes - Only three CFL clubs have ever reached 10 Grey Cup wins in franchise history (Toronto, Edmonton & Winnipeg), Ottawa can become the 10th team in Grey Cup history to reach double-figures with a win over Calgary. Droughts: Ottawa is tied for the longest current drought since their last Grey Cup victory - 26 seasons since 1976 (1977-1996, 2002-05, 2014-15). Winnipeg has also gone 26 seasons without a GC win (1991-2016). Hamilton is next with 17 seasons (1999). 21: Number of players that played in the 2015 Grey Cup for Ottawa that are on their 46-man declared roster for Grey Cup 2016. (54% turnover in just one year). They have 23 players on their 46-man roster with Grey Cup experience. 19: Number of players that played in the 2014 Grey Cup for Calgary that are on their 46-man declared roster for Grey Cup 2016. (59% turnover over two years). 23: No of players who have been on previous Grey Cup winning teams (Calgary 20, Ottawa 3). Calgary has had two previous perfect home seasons of 9-0 and a third this year. They were unable to win the Grey Cup in the first two. Arash Madani Per sources: While Mark Trestman has denied interest in an immediate #CFL return, he's calling old colleagues, gauging coaching landscape. Steve Simmons - Toronto Sun -Take this to the bank: This is Henry Burris’ last game in the CFL ... -Scott Milanovich has quietly told some people he wouldn’t mind being fired as coach of the Argos. Three reasons for that. One, he doesn’t love the setup with the Argos. Two, he has two years guaranteed left on his contract. CFL News Per #CFL sources: The #Argos are negotiating with all-star OL Tyler Holmes on a contract extension. Lending further credence to GM Jim Barker still being empowered to negotiate, and likely surviving....... #CFL #Argos Bob Irving If Calgary doesn't win today's 104th Grey cup they will have some serious explaining to do Enjoy the game everybody!
  2. Much appreciated..

Give the cup to places/cities that ❤/ promote/appreciate - CFL ?‍?The CFL unveiled the list of officials for Sunday's big game. The name Jeff Harbin appears under Video Official. The same Jeff Harbin who has made several key mistakes recently, in leading up to the Grey Cup. There is no word whether reviews will be reviewed or not. CFL News #Argos inquired about Burris’ services before making trade with #Bombers for Drew Willy in September. - @JDunk12 #CFL Darrin Bauming "I think we've got a good thing going in Winnipeg, and I believe in what we're doing." – #Bombers kicker Justin Medlock -Medlock raved about #Bombers head coach Mike O'Shea tonight. If he does elect to leave the Lions, the CFL should immediately hire him as a consultant." Game Notes This will be the first-ever post-season start for Burris vs Calgary. This game matches Calgary with a +19 Turnover Ratio (#2) against Ottawa who were -10 (#7 in the CFL). Ottawa has a current streak of 8 games in a row with a higher Time of Possession averaging 31:40 and 6 more plays. Ottawa set a team record with 6,191 passing yards in 2016 and ranked #1 in the CFL for the second year in a row. Ottawa has scored an offensive touchdown in every game this season – one of just two CFL teams to do that in 2016 (with Winnipeg). For the 10th time this season, the Stampeders did not allow a single QB Sack and had just four 2-&-Outs. Jerome Messam averaged 6.0 yards per rush in a career-best 84 yards in total. Calgary outrushed BC 166 yards to 81. Calgary survived back-to-back turnovers in the 3rd Quarter and did not allow BC a point off either giveaway. Calgary has now been in the West Division Final 8 times in the last 9 years and proceeded on to the Grey Cup 4 times. Calgary defence in 2016: The Stamps allowed an average of only 15.0 points per game over their final 6 contests (incl. the playoff win). Calgary has a current streak of 5 games in a row with a higher Time of Possession averaging 32:57 – so with Ottawa’s 8- game TOP advantage streak, one will have to give in this game. CFL History The very first Cheer Extravaganza was in 1923, but was quickly cancelled when an Ottawa cheerleader showed a naked ankle. #CFL #GreyCup ?‍?Did you know? 4. There is a difference in saying the reffing is bad and the whole process needs review. Orridge is correct in stressing the whole process must be looked at and made better. To me, that is the where the stigma starts and stops with the CFL. It's easy to say the reffing is bad, but there is not one sport where fans, and the sport itself, can say that the reffing is good to very good. Every sport has their weak points - the human element, if you will. Bad calls will always be a part of sporting games and the CFL is no different. Where the problem arises is that when we're told the review process will correct errors - and they don't, then the spotlight hits, and it taints whatever they're doing right. Reffing is never easy. Try it if you don't believe me. Even the best ones make mistakes. But those mistakes should not be compounded by the review process. Make the corrections CFL. CFL fans and other leagues have their eyes on you. Let's get it right this time.
  5. Voted All Stars by their peers: Stanley Bryant OL Sukh Chungh. OL Chad Rempel. LS Maurice Leggett. LB TjHeath. 6. Buono, on the Lions and all their free agents.. that's the way of the CFL now. We were right up against the cap, and there will be tough decisions going forward... ....and “Depth is critical and the salary cap makes it tough,” Buono said. “When you look at other teams, maybe they have more depth because they have fewer players who make big, big money. “You look at the Calgary Stampeders. You wonder why they’re good. Well, they’re built on a different format. They have more depth. They have more players they pay full salaries to because they don’t have the high-price guys that take up a lot of the cap.” "We know the value of Solomon, so that’s not going to be the issue,” Buono said. “The issue is we have a cap, we’re right up against it this year and obviously there is going to be some tough decisions going forward.” ?‍?My prediction - Elimimian will 'adjust' his salary expectations to allow the Lions to keep some key pieces in place. Gary Lawless No @cfl #cfl news breaking this week but @DC_CHILLIN_8 Duron Carter has narrowed his focus to @calstampeders @EdmontonEsks @sskroughriders Ian Busby Stamps started nine Canadians in West final. They can afford a second import on offensive line ?‍?Maybe the hosts for the Grey Cup each year will have learned, from 3 straight years of slow sell-outs, that prices for seats should be set according to Canadian standards, and not for profit planning...(create demand - not supply) ?‍?I'll be pulling for the UnderDog RedBlacks on Sunday....it's not like I'm not used to pulling for the underdog over the last few years... Lawless for price of poker in a league with no guaranteed contracts if I was a GM & could sign @DC_CHILLIN_8 Duron Carter - huge talent - absolutely ?‍?Rumour is...Roosevelt to Edmonton for Franklin, then Riders sign Carter (according to Rider fans) - but then why wouldn't they (Edmonton) just sign Carter? ?‍?Personally, I'd just keep Roosevelt. Justin Dunk “Scott [Milanovich] honestly lost the room—worst locker room I’ve ever been a part of,” a current Argo states. “The one group who never got blamed and never accepted responsibility was the coaches—it was always the players’ fault. To the media they said the right things to take blame, but in the room they never did. They never made us feel like we were in this together. It created an environment of veterans not trusting coaches, coaches not trusting veterans, and young players’ heads spinning with what to do and who to go to for guidance." Read it here - http://www.sportsnet.ca/football/cfl/fumbling-handoff-inside-2016-toronto-argonauts-season/ Arash Madani Per sources: SirVincent Rogers, the top #CFL OL in 2015, has signed a two-year (1+1) extension with the #RedBlacks. Big signing for Ottawa. Justin Dunk Trevor Harris is set to make $400,000 nest season: $285,000 base salary, $15,000 housing and he’s due a $100,000 roster bonus on Feb. 1. Conversely, Hank’s current pact has him making $200,000 in base salary and a possible $80,000 in playtime bonuses next year. Despite the 41-year-old’s age, he continues to win the battle against father time, for now. The numbers have salary cap implications as well: $600,000 in “guaranteed” money for a quarterback tandem is on the high-end for CFL teams. Calgary was within that range in 2016 with Hamilton, Toronto and Saskatchewan paying their top two signal-callers more than $515,000. http://3downnation.com/2016/11/24/henry-burris-trevor-harris/ Gary Lawless QB carousel talk heating up in @cfl #cfl. Durant and Nichols big free agent names but keep hearing about trade interest in James Franklin ?‍?I certainly can't speak for the Bombers, but it makes you wonder why the Big Blue haven't moved forward with Nichols. 7. This is just icing on the cake. 1st, a poorly Coached exit from the playoffs, 2nd - we don't have to hear, on mics, how poorly you did Maas - we had enough visual proof. Now if you could only figure out how to sabotage the cameras...
  8. I wouldn't underestimate the player that Harris is. He's the total package. The players from different eras should not be compared anyways.
  9. Justin Dunk floating one out there to Drew Edwards...Corey Chamblin in consideration for DC in....Winnipeg? Drew throws one back about Chamblin possibly in Toronto, or taking over from Steinhauer in Hamilton...
  10. @WBBFanWest & @Logan007 Is it just a coincidence that you guys posted what Etchevery said...and a mention of bull in the next post?
  11. I'm not thoroughly convinced BLM doesn't have an 'out' clause in lieu of a higher salary. If BLM isn't the highest paid QB in the league, and he should be, then he may have an 'arrangement'. If he is the highest paid, then how do they keep that team together next year...when all the plates are being held out for a bigger piece of the pie?
  12. CFL Tidbits Jeff Hamilton: For those concerned about Stanley Bryant and Justin Medlock, both will be #Bombers next season. CFL News Kent Austin has 3 years remaining on extension he signed before this season so he isn't going anywhere. - @scratchingpost #CFL #Ticats Terry Jones: (is he piss*ed off or something?) -The No. 1 thing that was wrong with this team all year was Benevides’ ‘Bend & Break’ defence. - @sunterryjones #CFL #Esks -#Esks headed home for garbage day because head coach Jason Maas lived in denial that they had fixed everything. - @sunterryjones #CFL -No back-to-back champions because DC Mike Benevides stubbornly refused to fix philosophy to fit circumstances. - @sunterryjones #CFL #Esks -#Esks are headed home because GM Ed Hervey failed to find the talent for the defensive secondary. - @sunterryjones #CFL -Biggest person to blame for #Esks not returning to Grey Cup is Chris Jones - @sunterryjones #CFL 1/2............for leaving & taking his coaching staff & several players to #Riders - @sunterryjones #CFL #Esks 2/2 "But when you've got a talent like John White, you should be giving him the ball 10-15 times per half. In Sunday's Eastern Final, White totalled only 12 carries for 66 yards for the entire game." "You've got to rely on your running game in games like this. It helps your defense, it helps your quarterback, it helps your play-action game, it helps everything. It helps your drop back passing game too!" Gary Etchevery "If you're a coach and you believe in the value of coaching, clearly the foundation of the entire staff which John Hufnagel built going back to 2008 is what the entire Stampeders organization rests on." "Wally thought that he alone could make up for what I thought were three really weak hires at the coordinator positions. They are three guys who have a lot of coaching ahead of them but at this stage of the game, they were just over-matched against Calgary." Gary Etchevery. Durant update - "All quiet" The Situation -The Riders would prefer to sign Durant to a contract for far lesser money a la Travis Lulay, Drew Willy, or what Henry Burris is scheduled to earn in 2017 which is far less than what he makes now, -Durant can poke around in free agency and there are possible landing spots in Montreal, Toronto and Winnipeg. However those franchises all have quarterbacks in the picture named Vernon Adams, Drew Willy, Ricky Ray or Matt Nichols so it's unlikely they'd open their wallets to the tune of $350,000 or more for a stranger, * Durant could sign here for less money and compete for the starting job in training camp, but there's a danger he could still be perceived to be behind guys like Mitchell Gale, Jake Waters and Brandon Bridge heading into Week 1. I know that sounds preposterous but that's what happened to Henry Burris with Nealon Greene. It's likely however, that Chris Jones and offensive coordinator Stephen McAdoo would put the best quarterback on the field at New Mosaic Stadium coming out of training camp and that will be Darian Durant if he earns it. The whole scenario remains quite a head-scratcher. It appears the Riders are playing with fire with the possibility of Durant signing elsewhere and no capable replacement waiting in the wings but as many, many football people have told me over the past few weeks, "Jones has his way of doing things and it's different than what you've seen before". ---Rod Pedersen Justin Dunk There is one major factor that could play into the entire quarterback scenario with the Riders: James Franklin. The 25-year-old is under contract with Edmonton for the 2017 season at a $55,000 base salary. A theory from sources around the league is that Jones is waiting to see whether he can get Franklin from the Eskimos, which could determine what happens with Durant. Sources say as recently as near the end of the regular season Saskatchewan initiated conversations surrounding a possible barter for the Eskimos’ young pivot. Rumours... *rumours, like the one that says Argos coach Scott Milanovich has been telling people he expects a complete house-cleaning of the Toronto football club. *Do you think Tillman will go after the jobs in MTL and TOR?" *"Don't be surprised if Burris ends up here in 2017". Would really be a hoot.. ?‍?For my money, Marquay McDaniel is the best receiver, for the money, in the CFL. Gerry Moddejonge " Walker has played his last game in green and gold." And considering his contract is up and the NFL opportunities that are sure to come the 25-year-old’s way over the off-season, the Eskimos will be minus one of their biggest players next year. ?‍?Turns out Ottawa had their own 'white' ready for Sunday's game... ?‍?Bombers should be in on the Franklin bidding war, if only to drive up the price...for Jones. ?‍?In Saskatchewan you say? 13. That's a contradicting statement..isn't it?
  14. Great drive by Lulay. Can he play DB too?
  15. Henry Burris, who quoted Donald Trump and mentioned the Manitoba Bisons at half time..showed up today, poor weather and all. Henry Burris executed their game plan to a tee. He outshone Reilly and the Eskimo receiving corps, who by the way, practiced indoors last week, and used every part of their game to outlast the Eskimos. And, without those fumbles, Edmonton wouldn't have been in it.
  16. And the Kie player of the game...the former Bison - Kienan LaFrance.
  17. Massive questionable decision by Abdul Kanneh on Bowman... Maas'sive questionable Coaching calls for Edmonton...
  18. I don't understand why Edmonton is forging ahead with trying for the big play in those conditions. There was plenty of time after the half. Now, they may have to go for the big play. Franklin?
  19. Can't believe Ottawa isn't stressing the need for more ball security. 4 fumbles and they got them all back...or is it AllBlack?
  20. ?‍?under the category of SAY WHAT? Replay official who made mistake in East Semi-Final back in the booth… goo.gl/fb/0xoyKP via @3DownNation I don't understand this. Did he suddenly learn how to work the rewind button? And now has a copy of the rule book in front of him?
  21. I don't mind that aspect of it at all. That's part of Walter's job. It's good to know where Oshea is coming from. What I would mind is asking O'Shea..during the game. Clearly, that's not the same thing.
  22. Nope. You missed the intent of the post. The 'if only' jive was just that, a poke at using the if only this would have happened or that wouldn't have happened. It occurs all the time. Anybody can talk all they want about the call, the game, the play, the result. Its all their opinion. It's just when people inject their opinion into what they perceive to be what the speaker meant, do my ears perk up. Try not to read anything into what isn't there is all I'm saying...
  23. My final thoughts and what I would like to see from 2016: A fix for CFL reviews An end, to end the DEnd search we've been on A true MLB Edmonton to lose, because, well, they're Edmonton, and because Reilly insists on wearing that stupid hat...in a pre-game presser..in football... I guess Calgary should win it all because they've done the best...but, ....I'm rooting for BC A new DC or a distinct improved vision of how to better use the players we have. New careers for Wiecek, Bender, Friesen and Wazney - constant potshots on the Bombers is getting old and unimaginative. A slicing of overpaid utility players or some cutbacks to suit their roles... ...with subsequent renewals to the up-and-comers... A step-up receiver, and I don't care if he's an import or a National. Loffler - to have a hitting clinic for tackling.. A don't break but don't break defence. Lost in all the hoopla about 'that call' was the great play of the opposing QB -Jonathan Jennings. BC doesn't come close to winning without his above par efforts... QB situation - I'd like Nichols to return, but what I'd really like is another blindside signing ala James Franklin. Hervey may be more inclined to deal with us rather than Jones..so lose Edmonton, lose. The WFC is getting together to access the QB situation, including Bethel-Thompson whom we took a peek at earlier. Fine. Let's get this settled in regards to Bennett, Davis, Glenn, Nichols etc. And finally, O'Shea to shave his beard next year, to better see his smirk.
