EXACTLY. In my mind LaPo called a pretty good game. That could have been upgraded to 'called a great game' had he incorporated Harris as a receiver. Initially, the Eskimos might have been looking for it, but not after we had them flummoxed. Harris would have added way more yardage to his total.

I really think a GAME BALL ? should be saved this week for the fine defensive GAME PLAN that was drawn up by our passive DC Ritchie Hall. When all spectators were wondering what the massive scoring machine, led by Reilly, Walker and Bowman, would bring to the sorried secondary of the Bombers, Mr Hall calmly provided a plan that befuddled the remarkable Mike Reilly, and even Jason Maas. C'mon now. 20 points in the first game. 23 points in the second game? That's remarkable. Well done Mr Bend-don't-break.? well done.

Willy or Nichols. To me it doesn't matter any longer. Win the damned game..and you can play some more. O'Shea has insisted on drew Willy as his starter from day 1 onwards. No changes or subbing. But now eyes have been opened, haven't they? Paul Wiecek delivered this line - "He’s your quarterback, not your wife. You’re allowed to sample the other merchandise." Its okay to switch QBs. What we had there...was a football game. Plain and simple. Congratulations to the Coaching staff. We were the ones that kept the other team off balance. We were the one who befuddled Reilly so much. Hardly ever see Reilly with his head down so much swearing under his breath. Absolutely loved the fact we went down the field early, got stopped, but gambled on 3rd down and scored. That meant so much to this team. Nichols played himself into another game with that performance. He executed a pretty good game plan from LaPolice, saw the field well, and did enough Quarterbacking to get point on the board. TDs and FGs. That means he drove the offence enough times to at least get to the red zone. He may not have been the be-all end-all last night...but HE got us the win. the FGs? - 5 all executed. Medlock got 18 points. We directly lost a game against Edmonton last year because our kicker then was 1 -5 Richie Hall's defensive plan was right for Edmonton, and only Walker seemed the only on who mattered for Edmonton. That brings us to the make-shift secondary. Wow. All those changes and we had a semblance of guys who knew what they were doing. Real nice find in our new starter Terrence Frederick. Nice coverage and he was responsible for the "play of the game" with that brilliant interception. I bet there was a lotta hooping and hollering on that one. The O-Line played like an OLine and led by Bond (another new starter) made Harris a very happy runner last night. That run game served its purpose and kept the Eskimos off balance. We probably should have changed things up and swung Harris out of the backfield in the second half to throw them off even more. Each team had 3 sacks. A lot of the credit for the win should go to our Coaching staff....for a change. I actually think some people will be pissed that the the Bombers won last night. I mean other than rider fans. I mean some sports writers. Geez, I didn't get upset with any Bomber players last night. 26-43 Matt Nichols. 304 yds 1td. Apparently there are some dogs that must be kept at bay because O'Sheas bombers won. Nichols pulls the trigger - Willy kept the safety on? The player whose name we won't have to try and remember -Terrence Frederick. Dressler was a power plug all over the field. Missed him severely after he was injured. A lot of excited happy players during the game.. And that's what happens when I don't pick the Bombers to win eh?

It's not just a question of using numbers as an accurate comparison. We know that Willy is the better QB when all is considered. We also know that, when all things are considered, "Willy ain't right". One of these guys will have to step up, grab that QB starting role, and run with it. Personally, I don't care who does it, as long as somebody does. If this is what it takes to get Willy going, do it yesterday. Also, when you look at the QB performances of supposed back up QBs, in the last little while, maybe it will be our turn to benefit from a revitalization. Nichols to Adams - TD! The Bombers, (Paul LaPolice) are doing everything in their power to provide the kind of offence Willy needs to 'survive'. But I don't know if they're doing him any favours, or just playing into his safe mode. There is only one person who can get Willy out of this, of course, and that is Willy himself. He should be pissed. He should be itching to get back on the field and throw some gawd-damn TD passes. Not for "Coach Lapo" or for "his very nice Head Coach", but for his own sanity. But he can't QB 'safe' or 'scared', that just won't work. He's got to face that injury demon and force him back in the box. Otherwise, he's finished here. Willy can QB, but in may be in another uniform.

Odell Willis and Adarius Bowman had some kind words about Coach Harris.... "And one former coach, in particular, stands out above the rest from their days there. Five years ago Tuesday, Bombers assistant head coach and defensive line coach Richard Harris died from a heart attack at age 63 after collapsing in the team’s office. “It wasn’t just a defensive thing, man,” said Bowman, who spent two seasons in Winnipeg before joining the Eskimos the same year it happened. “For most of us, he was almost like a father figure, especially in my case. And I know he touched Odell a lot from being around him. “We used to go for lunches and do a lot of things. Most of his talk wasn’t even about ball, it was about becoming a man. We were so young then, 22-23, and what’s crazy is it felt like all his words sunk in on me after I left there. But he definitely took the time to do that.” Not every coach does. Especially with a player from across the line of scrimmage. But suffice it to say that the 260-pound retired NFL defensive lineman recognized the unbridled potential in this pair of up-and-comers who might not have had the squeakiest of clean images early on in their football careers. “We didn’t understand the impact we could have off the field. He used to tell me, ‘Someone’s always watching, even when they’re not watching, A.D.,’ ” Bowman recalled. “And at the time, I’m like, ‘That sounds stupid.’ But I understand what he meant now. So that’s a coach that will always be with me. “I know that hurt a lot of us when that occurred. I remember when it was first announced, it just didn’t seem real. Coach Harris was a huge man that had a bigger heart. Some of the things he said is stuff I’m still learning now. He wasn’t my coach, but I felt like I’d do anything he said.” Willis doesn’t need any sort of anniversary to remember his former position coach. “He was one of the best, one of my favourites,” said Willis, whose Swaggerville teammates were always anchored in reality by Harris, regardless of how big their on-field persona would get. “I’ve never paid attention to how many years it’s been, when I think about him I just think about all the positive things and all the good stuff he did for us. “For a guy who didn’t have it easy to having almost everything in the NFL, he’d seen it from both sides. The older you get, the wiser you get, and that was just him. He could relate to everybody, whether you came off of the streets or came from a good family.” Regardless of the problem, Harris could always relate to it. “He knew one day we were going to become men,” Bowman said. “We’ve matured so much. And back then, I thought I was the coolest person walkin’. I hope I’m able to get older and have that smile and heart that he had. Ultimately it's a judgement call, which is why I much prefer refs who have played. Players likes to say "don't tell me what I could or could not have caught" after being interfered with, so close calls tend toward being catchable more often than not, but ultimately, judgement call, thus highly debatable. I was curious on the uncatchable aspect in pass interference and found that in the NFL, they state - "Pass interference can only be called if the player could reasonable have made a play on the ball." I'm not about to read the CFL rule book because my mind will bend even more, but I thought it was the same in Canada. Then, I found this: "If the pass is deemed to be "uncatchable", pass interference rules do not apply in American college football or the NFL, and starting with the 2010 season they do not apply in Canada." Wikipedia. This is how I now thought it to be. Soooo, i thought I would ask a minor league official - ***** just a quick question on your understanding of "uncatchable ball" in regards to pass interference. Is there consideration given to that aspect from a referee's viewpoint or no such thing? Have you ever been informed of such? response - Yeah, we talk about that. Ultimately it's a judgement call, which is why I much prefer refs who have played. Players likes to say "don't tell me what I could or could not have caught" after being interfered with, so close calls tend toward being catchable more often than not, but ultimately, judgement call, thus highly debatable.

Is Masoli better than Nichols? Is 2.6 out of 5 better than 2.5 out of 5? Masoli had a better than average game last night, and was into the flow and ebb of the game...and measured game planning. That plan suited Masoli to a tee, and his receivers rescued a few throws, but I'm not going to take anything away from the guy who now holds a CFL record. His play was outstanding last night. But alas, it's still only one half of a game and his resume, like the other rookies who played this weekend, will have to be filled with more stellar play..over the course of many games, against many more teams.

I find I can't give you a reasonable explanation, or even an unreasonable explanation. Clearly, it's become unclear as to what the hell is going on... Is it becoming unreasonable to get, what used to be, an easy call to make?
