  1. "We made some bad decisions, took bad penalties and made bad mistakes," Drew Willy? Nope - Mike Reilly.
  2. Drew Willy is not the solution, nor the leader, for this team going forward. That was a winnable game last night. I can't think of any other starter, or Tate or Franklin or Lulay, who wouldn't have carried the Bombers to a win. A couple of throws, a couple of runs. Really, that was all that was needed. Willy could not win us that game. He is going to make some team, somewhere a good backup, at way less money.
  3. Two points from John Hodge in 3down nation. 1. Drew Willy’s play in Thursday night’s 20-16 loss to the Edmonton Eskimos was simply unacceptable. ****Willy fell back into old habits against the Eskimos with sluggish decision-making and errant throws. Willy also continued his frustrating season-long struggle to connect on the long ball, consistently missing targets over twenty yards downfield. 4) O’Shea said after the game that he never considered pulling Willy. It is this type of inexplicable stubbornness that will have O’Shea interviewing for special teams coordinator jobs in five months’ time. http://3downnation.com/2016/07/15/end-willypeg-_-thoughts/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
  4. Make no mistake about it. This was Mike Reilly vs Drew Willy and the master embarrassed grasshopper...badly. Think pro QB vs semi-pro. There's that much difference. No matter the Bomber lead, Mike Reilly will make it evaporate. At the same time, no matter the Bomber lead, Drew Wiily will make it evaporate. Drew Willy staples his position as a top ten QB in the CFL once again.
  5. Since when, would you ever think, that smashing a guy in the face mask would be considered a good play?
  6. Related facts: Oct 3 2015 IGF Wpg. Edmonton 24 Winnipeg 23 Winnipeg Kicking Player FGM FGA PCT LG Lirim Hajrullahu 1 5 20%. 45 Lirim Hajrullahu - # 70 Toronto Argonauts.
  7. I saw and heard this piece that was put together and after viewing, I completely dismissed this Pratt character. This is line from that piece. "When you take a look at those turnovers, those gifts that were just handed to them.." Dave Pratt Complete and utter garbage. 5 of the 6 turnovers were created by the Bomber defence. Let me repeat that - 5 out of the 6 turnovers were created by the Bomber defence. They were not gifts, nor were they just handed to us. That Pratt guy has his own agenda. Don't know why, but if you cannot see the pressure that the Bombers put on Masoli, or the strips of the football by Randle..then Wild, not the interceptions by the D...then you ain't watching or you just don't know football. I think I know which one it is with that prat-fail.
  8. Impressive for sure. Along with R. Ray, both QBs had a percentage completion of - 82.5% (52 for 63) Both teams play a version of short yardage completion offence, like LaPo's. Both tried the killer long ball throws, with Harris being more successful. You've really got to credit Jamie Elizondo for the brilliant mix on offence yesterday. He too, was a game star. Ottawa rushed for 84 yds while Toronto had a dismal 35 yds on the ground. As to the crowd. I'd allow a mulligan on the attendance numbers last night because of all the closed streets and parking problems this would have presented. The Indy Toronto race begins on Friday July 13th, and there's a lot of flag waving involved. The Argos and RedBlacks played a football game on Wed. and there were a lot of flags being waved and thrown. Was it a warm up? A total of 28 flags were tossed, never mind the waving of challenge flags. Ottawa got the majority 19, and still won the game. Go figure. Finally, Hajrullahu gets full marks for the worst dive-for-a-tackle EVER on the punt return TD by Tristan Jackson. No use diving for the tackle when you're 5 yards away Lirim.
  9. CFL.CA GAME NOTES: A LOOK AT WEEK 4 Selected out takes from - http://www.cfl.ca/2016/07/12/cfl-ca-game-notes-a-look-at-week-4/ - This year’s average of just 166 rushing yards per contest is the lowest rushing total per game in CFL history – over 79 per cent of total yards gained in 2016 have come by the pass. - This year the REDBLACKS lead the CFL with 520.0 yards per game on offence. - Chris Williams is averaging 164.3 yards per game, all from his 25 catches. He is on pace for 2,958 receiving yards – well above the 2,036 yard record set by Allen Pitts in 1994. - The visiting team has won eight of the 11 games thus far (72.7 per cent excluding the tie) and that is an unprecedented winning percentage by the visitors. Long-term visiting clubs have tended to win 40 per cent of the time. - Scoring, offence continue to rise: Both remain up after a strong rebound in 2015 over the standout defensive 2014 season. Net offence is up to 764 yards per game (13 per cent higher) based primarily on a 20 per cent increase in passing yards over last year’s 533 yards per game mark. Scoring on offence sits at 47.8 points per game, up 7.4 per cent over the 44.5 points per game mark in 2015. - Linebackers Ian Wild and Adam Bighill have each made 20-plus tackles thus far with Wild on top at 22. - Lirim Hajrullahu: The Toronto kicker has gotten off to a great start and last week made six of seven field goal attempts at B.C. Place – one short of the Argos’ single-game record. He has made 11 of 12 FGs thus far and is averaging 13 points per game. - Greenwood and Munoz: Cory Greenwood leads the Argos with 19 tackles and ranks third in the CFL, tied Ottawa’s Damaso Munoz. The two will square off for their respective defences on Wednesday night in Toronto. - Trevor Harris at 80 per cent: Harris has completed 80 per cent of his passes this season and that rate continues to put him well above the completion percentage record of 77.2 per cent set by Ricky Ray in 2013. His passer rating of 143.3 tops the CFL record of 126.4 by Ray in 2013. Speaking of Harris - CFLNews - "We actually offered him more than he got." - Jim Barker on @Trev_Harris cfl.ca/2016/07/13/lan… #CFL #Argos #Redblacks via @CFLLandry - Winnipeg emphasis on the pass: The Bombers have attempted 121 passes in their first three games, an average of 40.3 pass attempts per game. The club record for the most in a single season was set in 1993 at 39.3 per game so they are ahead of that pace. The Bombers have averaged just 16.0 rushes per game, just under the all-time club low of 16.4 per game set in 2000. - Sean Whyte 18 straight: Has now made 18 consecutive field goal attempts and is just 4 short of Sean Fleming’s Edmonton record of 22 - Winnipeg fourth quarter defence: Last week, the Bombers shut down Hamilton and did not allow a point in the final quarter to win 28-24. In the fourth Quarter thus far in 2016, the Bombers hold a 25-3 scoring edge. They have not allowed an offensive TD by any opponent and held Calgary without a first down and to just 14 net yards. Winnipeg forced two Hamilton fourth quarter turnovers and held Montreal to only a field goal.
  10. Didn't think this thread would turn out this way, but the kind words are appreciated. (these are entirely my words) (although I might have used a dictionary)
  11. Sigh.....Mike Reilly, Derek Walker, Adarius Bowman, Coehoorn, Getzlaf and Watson. And we have new Corner (CJ Roberts) playing, with a switch at halfback as Posey moves to field and Fogg goes to boundary. Sigh. And John White running like a man possessed. Sigh. Doesn't scare me at all...
  12. Proof that it was me who compiled the opening post ?
  13. Thank you iso, blitzmore, tracker and KBF for your support..
  14. So now you insult me twice. It is absolutely something I did that is cobbled together from different pieces of information..most of of it sourced right in front of your eyes. There are naked tweets and data gathered from game sites. There are quotes from different people and their names are prominently displayed. I did my own additions and deletions over a couple of days. My goal, as in the title, was to lay out info in case the casual reader did not get to see that info. I found the time, while watching games etc. and posted tweets, without the Twitter boxes (hence my term naked tweets) It does take time, but before this, I thought it might be worth it. You know, posting info... Not now though.
  15. Most of it is bits and pieces from many sources and facts and data I gleaned from CFL sites and TSN. Information that is out there. I provided links where applicable. If I missed a reference, it was inadvertent. There are hashtags and names provided otherwise. A lot of that information is just putting together facts from the games played after week 3. I compiled those myself. As to your charge of 'clearly stole it' from somewhere, that is discouraging news to me to hear. I guess it's best to just keep it to myself in the future.
  16. Ed Hervey. Chris jones. Gotta love those guys. Hervey says he knew two weeks before the Grey Cup, that there was 'something going on' with Sask. and Chris Jones. Something. He wouldn't say tampering, but I will. - According to a CFL coach who has worked with members of Jones' staff in the past, there was a very significant – and previously undiscussed – element to the mass exodus. "..... "So, what did Hervey do? After its made official that Jones was leaving, Hervey takes it upon himself to punish the entire coaching staff in Edmonton. He holds back their Dec. 15 pay checks because he felt all the staff was disloyal." Still classy after all these years. And what does the entire coaching staff do? Get pissed off, and leave with Jones. Not only that, but it's rumoured the cash-rich Riders made up the pay loss by paying the staff for their loss. "When asked about the matter on Thursday, Hervey's comments were both interesting and revealing. And, in spite of being fined by the league office for previously suggesting the Riders tampered with Jones and Co. prior to the Grey Cup game, he once again stuck to his guns." "As far as when guys leave, I knew two weeks before the Grey Cup that there was stuff going on, so I was prepared for it," Hervey said. "I was in full motion on trying to prepare for the next guy. I was looking for a new head coach and I wanted the give the next head coach an opportunity to hire his own staff. There are no secrets in this league. People can pretend they are hush-hush, but like I said earlier, what I was fined for happened." And as Greg McCulloch puts it..."So basically, the man who signed Odell Willis as a free agent in less time than it takes to microwave popcorn is trying to take the high ground on tampering." http://www.edmontonsun.com/2016/07/07/the-untold-story-behind-the-edmonton-eskimos-coaching-staff-mass-exodus Names who stood out in week 3 Alex Singleton rookie MLB Calgary Stampeders. Bowman 6-141 yds 3 TDs Devon Claybrooks: "The greatest defence on earth is a good offence, and ours did a good job of putting drives together to let us catch our breath and things like that,” Claybrooks said. Following Charleston Hughes’ second sack of the night, the bombastic edge-rusher stormed around demonstratively in the backfield, knocking over teammate Micah Johnson, who flew backwards to the turf. With RedBlacks head coach Rick Campbell looking on, it was Hughes’ theatrical version of the headline-grabbing Duron Carter incident that earned the Montreal Alouettes receiver a one-game ban and Campbell a fine for flopping. Hughes has been known to take events that are in the news and find creative ways to implement them into his post-sack routines. Mike O'Shea, always focussed on teaching. "It's easier to learn when you win." #Bombers O'Shea says no major injuries came out of the #Bombers' win over the #TiCats. Kalil Bass, Quincey McDuffie are fine. I like Bob Irving's report.... Stay tuned for more vague info #Bombers HC M O'Shea still doesn't understand Smith's catch: "I equate it to a Bob Wylie magic trick. He conjured the ball onto Ryan's hip.” Hamilton - trying to whip up some statistics to make up for their poor start. 715 – The threesome of Andy Fantuz, Luke Tasker and Chad Owens have combined for 715 receiving yards this year. Their offensive contributions represent 66% of the total offensive yardage through three games this season. 6 – Out of the seven Ticats who had receptions on Thursday, six of those pass-catchers managed to find the sticks and averaged over ten yards per catch. For the season, the Ticats remain to have six receivers as well averaging ten yards or more per catch. 311 – Jeremiah Masoli is averaging 311 passing yards a game. He is ranked third in the league with 933 total yards while also having a pass efficiency rating of 95 completing 70% of his passes. 10 – The Hamilton Tiger-Cats sit on top of the league in turnovers. Many of the turnovers have been a straight result of the defensive line getting to the quarterback and knocking balls loose, coming up with six fumble recoveries. 25.1 – Brandon Banks has been a key contributor on special teams, which is nothing new. The Ticats rank first in the league with averaging 25.1 yards on kickoff returns. 50.5 – Brett Maher has been a main reason in pinning opposing offence’s deep in their own zone and allowing the defence ample room to do their job. Through three weeks of the season, Brett Maher leads the league in yards per punt with 50.5. Injury update: Alex Hoffman-Ellis sustained a torn right bicep during Friday’s OT win against @sskroughriders. Recovery is approx. 12-16 wks After HB Travis Hawkins' benching in Hamilton, the #Bombers are working some options in the secondary. C.J. Roberts may enter the equation. There's a new name for Sask and their short yardage team...Rob Vanstone Darian Durant, who had the misfortune of being asked to quarterback the Roughriders’ short-a-yard — er, short-yardage — team, tried to sneak for the first down and was repelled. Darryl Davis - The Spanish word for “testicles” is “cojones.” How appropriate that the last name of Chris Jones, the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ on-field boss, is part of that word. - through two winless games the Riders have fumbled, slipped and otherwise blown four of their eight chances in short-yardage gambles.
  17. The no look catch..is catching on Have a look ?
  18. There will always be posters who will try to diminish what the Bombers have done in any won game. What's not surprising is the two who did try. The Bombers didn't 'need' 6 turnovers to beat the Ticats...they caused, at least 5 of those. They like to point out a dropped TD catch by the opponents, but not not count a miss on a wide open receiver, in the end zone, for our team. They'd rather underline a 'lucky bounce' on a kickoff attempt, rather than give credit for heads up play by an oft-criticized veteran player. No, that doesn't count. And, as you pointed out, the Bombers, with their history, easily could have wilted with that ten-point swing to open the game...but they didn't. I bet you those two posters expected the likes of Simoni Lawrwence and the rest of the (at that time) league-leading sack kings to destroy our O-line and pulverize Drew Willy. Instead, they got 2.... and 1 of those was on a slippery ball fumble. BUT! No credit there either...just those 6 turnovers and lucky bounce. You know what? I think they're actually disappointed. I was wondering which 'fans' would bring up those statistics, and, as usual, I wasn't disappointed who did.
  19. Leftovers... 1) ................May I suggest? 2) - An adventure for the offence - "some headset troubles (we worked basically the entire first half without the QB headsets and the booth-to-field coaches’ headsets working) to get in the way." 3) - "IF ANYONE IS LOOKING FOR HIM, OSH IS HERE HELPING US LOAD THE BAGS.” I didn’t believe them, so he sent me a photo. Sure enough, after winning an absolutely massive game, on the road, with 46 of his family and friends in attendance, the bench boss spent over an hour loading bag after bag onto the trucks in 30C stifling heat. I wasn’t really even sure how to reply, so I asked“why?” The answer came: “I don’t know. He just showed up and started doing it – said he wants to help.” 4) - this probably would be amusing..
  20. Just finished watching the Edm. game. Very entertaining. That's the kind of game I'd like to see every week when teams play Saskatchewan. Hold that 'carrot of victory' tantalizingly close to the Rides' noses, then yank it away to remove all smirks and smiles. Serves their fanbase right for to trying to debase our win over Hamilton, because of...wait for it...turnovers.
  21. This is rather a harsh statement to blanket all officials with. Do you honestly think officials do not want to do their very best at every given opportunity? In front of thousands of people live, and many more on TV? Limited intelligence? Not enough comprehension? Not very bright people? You're in the wrong thread. The Sask. thread is over there >>>. Or are you just being well meaning?
  22. Yeah, we should apologize. Just like all the teams did last year, when our starter was out.
  23. I was thinking along those lines also. 63 yards on 13 carries. 38 yards on 5 receptions. And the blocking. But it's not so much the yardage figures, it was the smarts, in how he got the yardage, and consequently, the first downs. He was a perfect release valve for Willy.
