  1. Offside much? This is the no call on Ham., but call on us for offside...resulting in a TD BS
  2. "Speaking of the offensive line, Patrick Neufeld appeared to take three swings at Hamilton defensive back Emanuel Davis at the end of the game with the Bombers in victory formation. Though I didn’t see what Davis did — the scrum was chaotic, to say the least — it’s clear he did or said something to Drew Willy that Neufeld didn’t care for. That’s the type of attitude I want to see from my starting right tackle — protecting the franchise quarterback before, during, and after the play." - John Hodge Good one Paddy!
  3. The Bombers out-sacked the sack kings 5-2. A BIG thumbs up for LaPolice's game plan, the O-Line and Willy for executing. Oh, and to our defence...
  4. A fine game to win to help get in stride. 32-42 - 279 yards with help from Harris ♥️ And Davis. And, LaPolice. This is what happens when you get your offence going, the defence can step up and stay in the game. A well deserved victory. The analysis can come later. Let's celebrate!
  5. Cmon, you want to get dinky about a few plays? Who cares? ....we won the frickin' game and your nonsense isn't welcome. There's time for analysis later.
  6. Mike "challenge-them-all" O'Shea. 'Bout time things start going our way..
  7. Messages are raining down in response to an irritated poster's comments. All fair responses. To a troll? I don't know about that. But if he didn't expect the agitated responses, then he didn't do his lurking homework. And he doesn't know this board. Question is now, will this drought continue?
  8. Shouldn't that be covered already in any St. John's first aid practices?
  9. Eric Matthews would be a welcome addition to this forum, now wouldn't he?
  10. From personal experience, I don't see how you can have aggressive actions and spew factual verbal-mouth-tweets like Carter did while being affected by a concussion. I don't see how it would be possible to have known what he did and not know what he was doing. To me, he knew.
  11. I don't know. You have to be careful with that. Any two people can hear, or read, the same thing and interpret it differently. I find it easier to qualify poster's versions if they've actually (factually) heard things first-hand.
  12. Same old, same old. We win if we control the ball - both ways. Can we not expect for our OC, the film-breakdown artist extraordinaire to plot a game plan to fit what we expect to happen? ? ...ie Hamilton will have heat-seeking personnel, all vying for a piece of Willy. We know this. PLAN FOR IT. We're up against Masoli. Not Collaros. This is as close as we get.
  13. To be fair, and I've been criticizing Willy's play lately, he did play well at the end of both games. Montreal didn't seem to have backed off too much, but Calgary only rushed 3. Still, Willy did find his men, with men dropping back, and deliver the ball in tight spaces. And he did it well. Fans seem to think "garbage time" is a "pass" for an easy play. It isn't. There are more defenders and less space. And defenders don't really like to give up plays. Willy should get credit for that. Unfortunately, that's not his problem area. His reward is good numbers...we, the fans, get no reward.
  14. CFL POWDER RANKINGS WEEK 2 - For the fun of it version... 1 (2) Ottawa 2-0 - For the scone week in a row, Ottawa has started 9 Nationals and won. Passing: T. Harris (20-26, 395 YDS, 3 TD) Rushing: T. Van (12 CARS, 86 YDS) Receiving: C. Williams (7 REC, 187 YDS, 1 TD) Burris ended a streak of 73 consecutive games started. He is out six weeks with a broken finger. No matter, Trevor Harris, making his first start in place of injured Henry Burris, passed for 395 yards and threw touchdowns to Ernest Jackson, Greg Ellingson and Chris Williams as the Redblacks defeated the Alouettes 28-13 on Thursday night. A very good game plan had Van running and Harris passing...good combo. Harris and Williams have really got it going. 2 (4) BC 2-0 BC 2-0? Yep. Jennings, despite having a somewhat 'average' game, 16-27 228 yards (oh how we wish for an average game like that and win), did enough to drag them out of a dull 1st half by using a solid rushing game. 9 first downs to 3 rushing. TOP 35-25 BC. The BC defence was solid throughout and was instrumental in the win. They've allowed 21 points in 2 games Leone out-kicked Maher when it counted. 3 FGs to 0 3 (1) Hamilton what the hell happened to the mighty Ticats...on home field...with the same lineup? A better game plan from BC, that's what. And their own home field advantage? The wind. But most of all...a very stingy Lion defence. 3 points. 4 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries. And Geoff 'long gone' Tisdale. And the Ticats were distracted - I think by the bright BC lion uniforms. Masoli was, well Masoli-like, not Collaros-like this week. Penalties didn't help either. Penalty 1st downs for BC...5 4 (6) Calgary - Calgary benefited, this week, in this official scrimmage against the bingo card team from Manitoba. BLM, once again, tore apart the 'Peg defence when he was allowed time to throw, and time on offence to open their playbook due to the ineffectiveness of the Bomber offence and defence. Can't really tell how effective the Calgary defence is because they really didn't have to play that much when it counted. 5 (3) Montreal - Montreal lost because...well, because they weren't playing a team from Winnipeg. Passing: K. Glenn (26-42, 259 YDS, 1 TD) Rushing: T. Sutton (8 CARS, 39 YDS) Receiving: N. Lewis (9 REC, 114 YDS) Duron "egotistic indulgence" Carter, an injured SJ green and a fuzzy performance by K. Glenn led to this average performance. The good news, 3 more sacks for the D. Play of the game for M - Cox, running his asp off to catch Sinipoli, punch out and prevent a TD. Great hustle. 6 (5) Edmonton - bye week. Patiently waiting for the return of....Jones, and the Riders in their next game. 7 (8) Toronto - it's said that Ray had 5 passes dropped on him. He sure misses an Owens type and a revitalized Andre Durie. Toronto used a couple of plays to blow past a disjointed Sask. team and were never behind in the game. Didn't see enough out of Toronto to boost them much higher. They haven't shown that they will be climbing much higher... 8 (-) Saskatchewan - Durant played pretty well for being off that long. Roosevelt was/is a catch. Can't say the same for the rest of the receivers. Can't tell whether Sask defence had a good game or Ray was playing a little cautious. The half time feature had N Roosevelt as the up and comer new receiver showing all these stats where he shone compared to other good receivers. Two of the names that kept popping up were Dressler and Smith. 9 (7) Winnipeg Back to the position we own. 9th. What have they done to the Nipeg Blue Bombers? ST is the only area we can point to as CFL ready. The defence isn't. The offence sure the hell isn't. Everybody used to love Mike O'Shea. The guy we were sure would guide us out of the doldrums. After week 2, in his 3rd season, everybody is questioning Mike O'Shea. And Mike doesn't have the answers. Talent? Coaching? Game-Planning? There is no team identity. No direction. We're free falling. What have they done with my Nipeg Bombers? They've taken the Win out...
  15. A lot of people blame O'Shea for that 12 second - no FG fiasco last Friday. But Willy was on the field. He should know the ins and outs of all the plays at his command. To pump and then throw to Harris with time running out showed panic, and it's not the first time. I know of no other starter who would have faltered in this manner. That is why Willy has fallen out of the CFL top ten QBs who are, or should be starters. He has no escapability, no sense in his running ability, no 'radar' for pocket protection and only recognizes 'it's too late' - when it's too late. Definitely no clock management skills. Can Willy break off the shackles of mediocrity? We have to hope that he can, and that he will. He is the one that has to do it. Every other starting QB has faced some kind of adversity and bounced back. It really is early in the year, but we gotta see some signs...other than the 4th quarter pitch and catches.
  16. In the comment of the week category - You don't want to go long before getting that first win," said head coach Scott Milanovich. "Winning is a habit and losing can be a habit as well. The longer it takes the longer it is to get one. "I can't explain the feeling when you lose a football game. For a week, longer, it tears apart the locker room. It's good to get that off your chest, a new team with a lot of new players and coaches.
  17. On the flip side, after the initial drive, the Bombers had the ball in 4 more possessions...and got 1 first down in the first half. In comparison, when BC beat Calgary in week 1, they ran 68 plays. Not counting the marvellous 4th quarter, how many plays did the Bombers run in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarters? - 28, including the last play in the half and 2 plays after the blocked punt. So - 25 in 10 possessions, including the opening drive. A few more 1st downs and Calgary doesn't even get the ball to score their 2nd TD.
  18. I would agree with this. It's one thing to come out and look 'tired', it's quite another thing to always have to come out because your offence is not doing what they're paid to do...stay on the field for more than the mandatory 3 plays. Let's face it, the defence did not look good, at all, but, when the opposing offence is allowed to continually come back on the filed and use their entire playbook on us, that will lead to confusion, and derision. And yes, a good mix of running and passing will lead to a 'tired' defence, a lack of intensity or whatever you want to call it. How would you feel to have to run out back on the field after every 3 plays because your offence is so ineffective?
  19. One of the complaints on the Bombers is that we don't hang onto the ball on offence for any period of time. For the Bombers to fake that FG try is exactly the reason we hired a guy like MOS. Hes sneaky in that regard. It was a play that they practiced and we would have hung onto the ball for a while longer. It failed because Burnett was grabbed coming off the line, or else he had a ton of yardage. O'Shea was completely right to challenge that play. Again, it should have allowed us to hang onto the ball and perhaps even score. Too bad the officials didn't acknowledge that grab on Burnett as being enough to warrant a call.
  20. I see the Crayola Marker Co. has unveiled their new indescribable colour in BC's away uniforms. Not sure if that's supposed to be orange or maybe "gentle sun glow". One thing though, I'm awake now.
  21. Don't worry Duron, Popp will pay it for you. No SJ Green for 6? Plus? games. Whoa. Big loss for Kevin Glenn...
  22. This is to laugh. Jones respects no one. He's proven that time and again. If he could throw his grandmother out there, in order to stop a play, he'd do it. No, there's other reasons why he didn't blitz Ray, probably because they're not ready to, but it's not respect for Ray.
  23. Ricky Ray. The subject of two of the most interesting events/non-events in the CFL. 1st, when he was traded from Edmonton, then when he wasn't traded from Toronto.
  24. If our starting QB doesn't 'show up', I think we know the answer to that. Right now, I feel we can compete with any team, but we just got to have that quarterbacking. After having seen all the teams now, we rank #9 at that position.
