  1. Guess who's not coming to rookie camp? The club has released the following players (all Internationals): Receiver Larry Pinkard Receiver Ernest Smith Running back B.J. Catalon Defensive lineman Jordan Stanton Defensive back Justin Green Defensive back Arthur Williams But has added theses players: The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the additions of receivers Gerrard Sheppard and Thomas Mayo, running back Carlos Anderson, defensive lineman Cameron Henderson, linebacker Duron Singleton, and defensive back Jarrid Bryant. All players are Internationals. And it is THAT Carlos Anderson...
  2. The previous post is under review... Good football news for a lot of teams and fans this off season, and some more good news as TSN is broadcasting ALL pre-season games this year! Yeah! http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/schedule And here..http://www.tsn.ca/cfl-on-tsn-broadcast-schedule-1.439490
  3. This is quite the feather in the young man's cap, and he deserves it...BUT!.... did you see how well a certain centre played in this tournament? He was a force. Of course I'm talking about Mark Schelfele. A great showing. And he's ours.
  4. Two stunning stories, one fun, one laughable, the week before training camp opens across the league. Both stories involve somebody being duped. 1st of all, and maybe the better of the two stories is, Peter Dyakowski's totally made up 'best fans study' which stated Hamilton had the league's best fans, then Winnipeg, followed by Saskatchewan. If you can imagine the explosion of surprise and outrage, then you nailed it. Sask fans on Twitter, and on their one radio station, coming on in vehement disagreement with this notion. And totally falling for it. Good job Peter. Then, in another hook, line and sinker story, Wally Buono, somehow got Jim Popp to trade his 1st round draft choice next year? For an unproven QB with a questionable résumé. Not the most remarkable trade news ever, but entertaining nonetheless. I guess Wally hasn't lost it after all.
  5. A) A local guy from a town 30 minutes north of Kelowna. B)) A cousin of Grissly Adams, ergo relevant to any team with Bear Woods in the lineup. C) A QB to be signed by Montreal to bring their number back up to 8 QBs in camp...so far. I wonder how Adams feels about this turnabout..dealing with Wally B., only to be dealt à Montréal.
  6. And you know the really good thing? With our recent additions - he's only going to be more effective. 'Westerman plus', you might say.
  7. Not nearly as much as Rider fans are parroting the "contract-demands-were-unreasonable-unworkable" angle. Bejeebs, Dressler was everything Roughrider..and now he's a Bomber. That's got to be more irritating than putting freshly cut watermelon on ones head.
  8. Ah, I see you're finished with Medlock and moving onto Waggoner. Well, set your mind at ease. Waggoner is in good hands and his position on the team is solid. Waggoner is a gifted athlete, trained to play American football. When he turns the corner, in the CFL, you won't be asking about him any further. Walters on Waggoner: When Walters made the call to give up a 2016 first round draft pick last year for the services of Garrett Waggoner, the plan wasn’t to finish eighth in the league and lose the second overall pick. Still, the Bombers’ GM said Waggoner is off to a good start in his career and there are no regrets over the decision. “For sure, when you look back at Garrett last year at his productivity vs. the other first round picks, I think he’s on point,” said Walters. A 25-year-old Dartmouth graduate standing 6-foot-1, 225 pounds, Waggoner logged seven special teams tackles and one defensive tackle while getting his feet wet during his rookie season last year. The thinking is if Waggoner were in this year’s draft, he’d likely still be highly-touted. “If Garrett was in the draft this year? Yeah, he’d be in the talk as a first-round pick,” said Walters. “If you add him as the 10th guy in the first round, he played every game and with the exception of Nic Demski and Sukh Chungh he was the next most productive first round draft pick last year.”
  9. So, I've seen this notion before, especially on the Rider forum, that we paid too much to sign Medlock to kick winning field goals for the Bombers. Even though we had built in a salary for such an occasion. Even though he's the best kicker in the league at this time. Even though we arguably lost 3-4 games because of kicking last year. Sometimes you have to step up and pay the guy because the guy is going to step up and play for you.....Even though that may win you some games.
  10. Draft Class Rankings: #1 Winnipeg Blue Bombers - Trent Corney had the highest SPARQ score of any NFL draft D-line prospect and gave Top 10 NFL pick Ronnie Stanley fits in his game vs Notre Dame, now he can back up Jamaal Westerman and rip up special teams till his time to shine comes. - Michael Couture is a great lineman who may have an immediate impact on the team’s offensive line. - Winnipeg stole a starting safety in Taylor Loffler at #19 and now have a great deal of ratio flexibility. - Shayne Gauthier is a good linebacker who can play lots on the teams. - Zachary Instzandt provides O-line depth but has the potential to develop into a very good player. - Rupert Butcher dominated at the Combine and he is a steal at #46 who can challenge to sit behind Keith Shologan on the depth chart - Alex Vitt and Frank Renaud-Berroa can both be excellent special team’s contributors. In my mind, Winnipeg added four future starters in this draft and won this draft hands down. - https://canadianfootballblog.wordpress.com/ To see how all the teams made out, check out the blog. #9 - Edmonton #8 - Toronto. #7 - Montreal. #6 Ottawa #5 Sask. #4 Calgary #3 BC #2 Hamilton Of course...this is only one guy's opinion and heaven forbid he could be right.
  11. And yet, you missed the point. While pointing out that the Bombers were 'incompetent', it seems that Calgary still needed help in defeating us. Doesn't that make them incompetent as well? In your words then, if Calgary was a better team, they wouldn't have needed a missed call. It works both ways.
  12. I did read that info on the Rider's site and was repulsed. Not so much that Denmark had to sign this contract to keep playing, but the fact that Jones revels in this sort of thing and that the fanbase is rolling in it. Apropos. The contract, if accurate, sucks. The revelation sucks. What else did I expect?
  13. I'm pretty sure you just added to the greenhouse effect...in some way.
  14. Better yet, if the team that the Bombers lost to, because a wrong call by the ref, was a better team, they would have beat us all on their own. That team? The Calgary Stampeders.
  15. And of course, you supplied the Pop!
  16. What I like about the our National situation is that we're not going to be looking in the pile of former could-have-beens to fill out the back end of the roster. As a matter of fact, we probably will be adding to it this year, and our middle range athletes will drop closer to the bottom. I'm not worried about our National starters anymore, I think they will be seeking out the better of a number of players..not just who is 'good enough' to don the pads. This is the way it should have been all along and thank goodness, we're getting back there.
  17. I'm thinking I'd like the Blue pants, with the white, more..but I do love the Blue and Gold.
  18. Pretty impressive start to the year for the Bombers so far. They got three things done right: 1) Very good free agency. 2) Very good draft proceedings. 3) A return to sensibility in returning the Blue in Blue Bombers. Actually, make it 4 things - they haven't become anywhere near what the Riders are, and we don't have to watch dem dam green pickles get jarred at IGF all year long.
  19. But thank goodness there people out there who willing to put up with the mockery and the second-guessing (a lot of the time from fans who don't know the rules). Let's get this clear. Mistakes will be made. As long as they try to learn and correct, then that's all we can demand. We can ask for perfectson , but we won't get it..in any sport. But yes, we can demand improvement and I think, slowly, we are getting it.
  20. Remple is not going anywhere.
  21. This is the very point. It's very easy to point out bad reffing..and ***** about it. Even this thread is a platform for the negativity. We all know it can be a problem, in any sport, in any league. Do I think it's better or worse in the CFL? Only in areas such as the example that is given in this thread. That illegal formation call - that virtually cost us a ball game, should have been overruled, and that's possibly why there will be the rule changes continually until they get it right. At the very least, they are trying. The idea of these rule changes and amendments are the result of continual meetings of the rules committee and the officials. They are striving for the prefect game..just like offences and defences. And like them, they will fail. But all we can ask is that they try to improve every year...and do their best, because the fans are holding them to a high standard, higher and harder than being just a fan.
