  1. CFL News– ‏@CFL_News Changing the coin toss in the #CFL to teams' logos instead. - Josh Smith - 3 Down Nation just an idea at this time, but it sounds like an idea to toss around at this time, don't ya think?
  2. There were 2 posts written by a member, whose name I will not mention, and now are posted as guest. The reasons behind this is known only to those who know the reasons behind this, and for the rest of us...its just a guest.
  3. Best backup news I've heard since this site was back up. I think I have that right this time eh Rich?
  4. Although I have a place in my Bomber heart for Howell, and I think he must be a decent coach, I was always concerned that our receivers never were good blockers, or more precisely, we're not in position to be good blockers. Talent? or simply instruction? I would be interested to find out who initiated this change regarding Howell. Was he recruited? Did he apply on his own? Was there going to be a change in this position regardless? Enquiringly minds want to know. Where are those intrepid reporters that cover the Bombers without fault? Aren't they supposed to dig up this kind of information? Or does that require some actual effort? We need an insider.
  5. The Jets did not look good in several aspects; Outsot 35-20 which indicates no jump in the Jets play. Lost the faceoff battle - yet again. 36-25 PP - 0-4 Jets 2-2 Ducks - by far the Jets greatest weakness. IMO, the reason why the Jets are hovering close to the bottom of the NHL. If you're going to take penalties, you have to have great PK. The Jets do not. And that's not even taking into consideration, what I call...Jet penalties, exclusive to Buff, Myers and their body types. Jets have the reputation of a "penalty team" and the refs fed into it. The expectation for the Jets to make the playoffs wasn't too far off, but the expectation for the Jets to be a top tier team is far off the mark. I don't believe even the brain trust had that notion. There were just too many new pieces and inexperience/question marks in the roster. I still think the Jets are accumulating a lot of good pieces though, and it looks like they will add to that this year with a high draft pick. They may even improve on those odds with that expected big name trade.
  6. The trade in itself was a good trade, considering the players involved. That alone would have made it worthwhile. The fact that there were viable prospects coming back the Jets way, makes it a very good trade. What would make it great, is, if at least 1 or 2 of the prospects become regulars on our NHL team, and that is a good possibility.
  7. In early, the year's first silly post.
  8. I wouldn't want to be told the facts of a huge deal involving your star players after the fact, therefore, I consider it prudent management to sit in on the big ones and, total roster management. I'd consider it a huge flaw not to be involved. No, I don't believe meddling, and Chipman, should be brought up seriously.
  9. And here I thought I said exactly that... Dont you see a problem half counting on a draft that can produce iffy results? Or contemplating FAs that may not even make it to FAgency? Hell, one of our 6 OL (Capers) hasn't even been announced as signed yet. No, I think Walters has a job ahead of him, although I'm pretty sure Plan B is already underway.
  10. <I'm of two minds on this one. Good, he's gone. But, we're dreadfully thin at centre. Good, that salary's gone. But, we're lacking in experience.> So, we've lost 3 NI OL guys - Greaves, Griffiths, and now, Picard. We only have 3 NI guys left, with Goosen, Chungh and Neufeld. And 3 Imp - Capers, Bryant and Daniels. 6 guys! Hell, Calgary loses more guys than that in a couple of games. I'd say we better have our eyes on a few prospects, a few FAs and possibly a miracle or two.
  11. Ok, so I read the heading on here and it says site back up, so I think that's a good idea to have a site back up, but wonder how do you do that? Have some sort of re-direct? Then after clearing the mud, I see it reads - the site IS back up and realized I need to read more than meets the eye. I did check the Twitter feed and found nothing to verify either way. I even checked the newspapers, in the classified sections, for secret updated messages, but I didn't find anything other than a clandestine meeting for Mini-mite, at the "usual place" tomorrow night at 11pm. Interesting. So, the site IS back up and we can go on giving our stout advice for anybody who doesn't care to listen, and somehow, I feel better.
  12. What you said - What we heard - 9 minutes ago, iso_55 said: Bah, talk is cheap. Been humbugging it now for 2 years. The time for excuses is over. Just win games.
  13. Get Friesen aside, at this time of year, and ask him to name the people on the Bomber's coaching staff or some positional players. I'd like to hear the results..
  14. Read the article again. MOS is the only one with that restrictive a policy. All coaches and GMs across the league restrict access as mentioned...in the article.
  15. @arashMadani Per #CFL sources: George Cortez has *not* "retired," as the BC Lions had announced. He has told other coaches to keep him in mind for jobs. 8:38 AM - 24 Dec 2015 A bit odd that he's waited this long to make this known...
  16. The timing of Paul Friesen's latest article is either suspicious or right on cue. He certainly tries to make a case... BUT - it's hard to validate his concerns when we've all heard the stories of the media standing around goofing off and not paying attention to what's going on, on the field, during practices, right in front of them. I find it very hard to believe there isn't at least one story each and every practice...on each player alone...never mind the plays going on all around them. You know what it is....laziness. They'd rather hear their stories from lame questions they want to ask the staff..instead of actually doing the work themselves. Anyways, here's the story. In the 2nd half of his article in the Sun, he writes: MEDIA TAKES ON CFL Media types from Quebec to B.C. are taking the league to task for a declining lack of access to players and coaches. The Football Reporters of Canada, an organization led by new president Terry Jones, the long-time sports columnist at the Edmonton Sun, is asking first-year commissioner Jeffrey Orridge to address what’s become a more adversarial relationship between reporters and the people they cover. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2015/12/21/maurice-finally-flexing-some-muscle-by-showing-he-wont-put-up-with-penalty-parade
  17. Yes, that is weird. They are invisible. I use an iPad Air and everything is different without a keyboard, BUT, I just touched the areas to the right of overview and the different headings popped up, including signature. The odd thing is..I did have signature when I first looked at the site, but...in exploring I came across (hide) in relation to signature, and I clicked on it...and it disappeared (like my homework used to)..with no path to return. So, thanks for the insight into the problem, but now I'm leery ? click on anything and I'm going to careful of more trapdoors...?
  18. Basically, it came down to 0-5 Jets power play, Edmonton block 20 shots, Edmonton wins faceoff battle 45-22 and the Oilers getting a tip or 2 and the Jets not getting any. Normally, 45 shots will get you 3-4 goals, so somewhere in there is a good goaltending performance. As Maurice said, they played in the right end of the rink but didn't take advantage of their chances. Still, 0-5 on the power play says it all..
  19. When you say polar opposites, you don't mean that one will suffer a Manthropomorphic meltdown one day, do you?
  20. I never doubted it.
  21. Hey iso, right back at you with the best wishes...
  22. Disdain, upset, growl, scowl, smirk, and annoyed. All words used iso_55 to describe MOS in this thread. Hmm...who else could I apply those words to...
  23. Interesting..I seem to have lost my "signature" feature, and I cannot find it in profile. Also, when making a regular post, I now see that preview has been added, but it doesn't include any images that have been included. Will we have to post it, then edit, to move the images where we want them if the post requires it? ****OK, I just tried it, (image placement) and it was easy enough...
